In positive news, London’s supernatural secret is safe. In not-so-positive news, there’s a demon on the loose and he’s not my biggest fan.
The countdown clock is still ticking, and Lorn is AWOL. But the demon he summoned—the demon I took clumsy control of—is hiding in the city, and when bodies of dead seers start turning up, I know he’s hunting me.
Lazarus has sworn to protect me, but even with the deadly vampire at my side—and our chemistry becoming explosive—I can feel death breathing down my neck. The demon won’t stop until he finds me and wrestles back control.
Even if it means turning me into a violence-fuelled creature like himself.
Things were so much simpler when I was just a librarian.
Fans of urban fantasy with slow burn romance will love Karina Dobrev, our reluctant, introverted heroine; Lazarus Kaine, our deadly, irresistible hero; and Keith, a magical cat with impeccably high standards.
I genuinely loved Karina & Lazarus' dynamic from book 1 but in this book I think you see more of their relationship develop. With everything going on around them they both have to rely on each other more. Even though this is a slow-burn (which I kinda liked that it was) there was plenty of sexual tension building up nicely between them both. I also loved Keith the cat. Can we please have more of him??? Another cracking cliffhanger ending! Bring on book 3 now
Book two was alright, but, for me, not as good as the first.
Karina is making small progress towards controlling her fledgling vampire instincts, but it’s going at a frustrating and distressing pace. Mastering her thirst for blood is complicated by her bond with an insidious demon who wants to completely possess her. They’ve yet to track down Lorn, the council might be purposefully impeding their investigation, and someone, possibly of a demonic nature, is indiscriminately killing seers across London. Time is running out fast.
The slow burn romance between Lazarus and Karina is really taking off as they explore new areas in their relationship. Feelings are being confessed and perhaps reciprocated. Even if there are secrets still between them, they’re starting to open up more and more with each other. Those moments of just them were quite special, magical.
Some transitions throughout the story were jarring and/or confusing, although I think I get why. Towards the end I was starting to get a bit bored but was still interested. I loved that Keith the cat got his time to shine! He’s so precious and was one of the best parts of the story.
I do plan to finish this series because 1) I like these characters, 2) I want to see how the whole story ends, and 3) I want to know what becomes of Lazarus and Karina’s because they are just too cute together.
A fantastic punchy sequel that did not disappoint! Another fast paced, easy and fun read that had me hooked.
Once again the flow was great, some outlandish concepts in it, but it is FUN! My favourite part of this was the relationship development in this book. I'm such a sucker for a slow burn and something deeper than is just implied in the writing of the interactions.
Some great twists and surprises at the end. One in particular had me in such a rage - the demon is the gift that just keeps on giving...
I'm really excited to see how the set of characters faces this next adventure in book 3! And I can't wait to see the relationships blossom even more ♥️

I actually really like this story and characters, especially Keith! However, I am giving it three stars because I feel this book and the first has some plot holes. For example, no description at all about the different orders and what they mean. Or at the end of book one we were introduced to Karina’s Bane form but in the second book it wasn’t mentioned again until halfway through the second book. There also needs more character development. With that being said, I have the third book and look forward to continuing the story.
These “books” if you can call them that are under 200 pages far below the norm and more novella like.
This first was lacking by a lot. This one at least made up for the short comings of the first.
It’s an intriguing story idea but I honestly do not have the patience’s for short underdeveloped books let alone waiting for an author to finish the next 10-12 chapters which is basically the length of these books.
3.9 This one was definitely better than the first. I love how the story has expanded and the stakes have gotten higher We discovered many new and exciting things about our characters. Laz and Katrina are in love and I love that for them 🥰 we got hints of found family in this one. My only wish is a little more action AND if there was some smutt? PERFECT but overall nice experience and a short read to add to my challenge 💕✨
4.5 stars. I liked this one more than the first one. We get more insight as to what exactly happened to Karina and we get a little deeper into Lazarus and Karina’s friendship (could be more?) I do need more of Lazarus though; he’s the book boyfriend I want in real life. He’s hot and as charming as a 200 year old vampire can get. But also the bits when he says Karina is his just set me over. Please let them be an actual item because I won’t be able to cope if they’re not!
Without giving too much away, Karina has some unexpected, not so good surprises. A Spell gone awry, a visit to hell, and so many more. Karina meets Lazarus mother and so many new discoveries. This was a great story with an ending that has me wanting the next one today. A Fantastic Read! I Loved It!!! No Spoilers!
Danger, action , an evil demon and a slow- burn romance fill these pages. Karina is strong as she faces adversity. I like the plot and characters. Keith is my favorite side character. I hope we see more of him in the next book. There are surprises and a cliffhanger. I look forward to reading the third and last book in the series.
I really enjoyed reading this book. From the moment that I started reading until when I finished the last page, I was hooked. It moves along at a great pace that makes for an easy and enjoyable read. The characters are amazing and you feel as though you know them and you want to be there for them. This book is a must read, there is no doubt about it.
The hunt is still on and the clock is ticking. Karina and crew do their best to find Lorn and stop the demon from rampaging London. I was on the edge of my seat with each page turn rooting for heroes to win. I won’t tell you what happened but I will say book three looks to be fun.
Thought book one left off at a very interesting place but this book was very disappointing. They just completely ignored and didn't acknowledge the demon form thing until 75% through the book. Everything felt very disorganized and randomly thrown in. Also Lazarus turning into a vampire to save him for cholera is so boring. He would have literally shit himself to death.
This second book was awesome! Karina‘s adventures continue in this exciting and thrilling read. Her relationship with Lazarus continues to grow with plenty of tension and chemistry between them. Action, danger, drama, demons, vampires and a magical cate called Keith, this was unputdownable!
Main complaint? It’s too short and I need more 😂😂😂 But for real, it was super fun and I love these characters so much. I don’t want to give anything away, but the cliffhanger…. Alas, we must wait until December 🫠
It's so hard to find a good book in this genre that is written well and has a nice plot, character development, romance, and a surprising ending. But this wasn't good, It was Fantastic! Dang, I can't wait for book #3!!
Very exciting . The scenes with the demon really got me revved up . The anxiety came through loud and clear . With surprises popping up left and right it keeps you saying , just one more chapter .
I like the characters and story but struggled at end with action scene confusion. I already bought book 3 so I’m hoping to see romance between 2 main characters. Love the cat he rocks!
