Four spicy enemies-to-lovers stories in one book? Now that’s what I call *bang* for your buck 🙊

Each author has a unique style and different angle on the theme, which keeps things interesting. With that said, the last two stories were my favorites in a frustrating way because they are both absolutely screaming out for full length novels! They also did the best job, for me, of balancing steamy content with a healthy dose of humor (which is what I love most in romance).

The Law of Attraction by Alison Middleton: This one partially hit on my nostalgia, having been a coxswain on a crew team, on the Charles River, in college. But this set the scene so well that the city was almost an additional character in the story. Despite being so short, I was immediately invested in Sage and Aiden. They say there’s a fine line between love and hate, and these two make that clear! I couldn’t help but cheer them on, hoping for a reunion in this second-chance romance. I felt like I knew them and liked them from the first minute they hit the page. I *need* more of this story - the past, the present, the future - all of it, because I need more of these characters.

Standout quotes: “They walked back to the skyscraper in silence, Sage walking in brisk time to her long-held resentment, and Aiden silent but easily matching his pace to hers.”

“Can I get you anything else? A big black hole to disappear into? No? How about an iced water–sorry, I can’t help with a cold shower, but you more than likely need one of those, too.”

Finding Home by Emma Mugglestone: I’ll be honest that I expected to like this story (city girl turns rancher) the least when reading the story descriptions but it became one of my favorites! Andi and Jack have such good chemistry together, with a completely believable misunderstanding at the base of their mutual dislike. I clicked the link at the end so fast to get the epilogue because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these two just yet. The characters are well-developed, complex people and again: this *needs* to be a novel. I want more time on the ranch!

Standout quotes: “So, telling them that Henry is the third most exciting thing I’ve ever had between my thighs was bad?”

“‘What about Bruce?’
‘Bruce?’
‘The bear.’
‘You named the bear?’
‘I panicked.’
Hello, toxic trait. Good to see you again.”

Note: I was given a free advance reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review. And while my reading dates make it look like this took me two days… it was more like 6 hours (including a break for dinner) because I started in the evening and got so hooked I couldn’t go to sleep until I’d finished 🙈

I really enjoyed the two stories in the middle.
Fight or Flight and The Law of Attraction.
These were both 4 star reads for me. I loved them. I didn't want them to end.
The first story Love Me Like You Mean It, was not for me. The characters were so unlikable to me. It made it hard to be invested in them.
The last story called Finding Home was good. I liked the characters and the plot. I could easily read a longer version to get to know more about all the characters.

Overall this is a good book of spicy short stories.
If you enjoy spice, you'll like these.
It's got the best friends brothers trope, fake dating trope and second chance trope.

Thanks to the authors and booksirens for allowing me to read an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

4 entertaining novellas. Quick reads with a bit of spice. Would have loved any of them as a full length novel as they were all highly entertaining. Would read a novel from any of the 4 authors.

This was a cute book with four enemies to lovers stories, each one had a little spicy and a decent bit of plot to round them all out.

I enjoyed each and could even see a couple I’d have actually probably liked them more if drawn out and fleshed more for the get to know characters better and feel a bit more “complete”.

If you’re in the mood for shorter novellas in a single larger book for time crunch this is a great one to add to anyones collection.

This was a book I didn't know I needed at a time when life is chaotic and I needed a nice, easy, relaxing read.

Anyone But Him brings you not one, but FOUR enemies-to-lovers short stories in the anthology, all of which are 5 star reads for me.

It's got everything - laughs, love, sweet AF dialogue, cute affection, lots of sass and some steamy stuff.

This is the first romance novel I've ever read (usually a thriller reader) and I was so pleasantly surprised, enjoying the journey in each story and not waiting for the twists and thrills, yet I still somehow could not put these stories down!

My only gripe with this book... I want to read more about the characters!!

I highly recommend, whether you're a romance fan, need a palette cleanser or if you just want to see if the genre is for you.

Thank you to the authors for providing me with an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

There were four stories in this books and all were quite short which is good if you want a quick read. They all ended a bit quick for me and some felt rushed but still worth a 5star review in my opinion. I read them while on holiday so were perfect.

This collection is perfect for you if you like the enemies-to-lovers trope. This collection has 4 stories from 4 different authors. Each one making you lol by the bickering of that goes on with the characters. I really found these stories entertaining with their pranks and banter. Not to mention, the passion between the 2 characters are juicy and steamy since they spent so much of their energy fighting and pranking each other. Each story had memorable characters and great personalities.

Love me like you mean it by Elouise Tynan is about Jordie and Reed, who know each other through Jordie’s brother. Reed is her brother’s best friend since college and they never really saw eye-to-eye. At least that’s what they had themselves believe.

Fight or flight by Stephanie Hazeltine is about Blair and Levi. They went to high school together and became enemies after a few mishaps. Reacquainted during Blair’s best friend and Levi’s twin brother’s wedding, reminded them of how much they despised each other. Years later they are forced to spend time together at a mutual friend’s destination wedding, they learn the truth of each other’s feelings.

Law of attraction by Alison Middleton is Sage and Aiden’s story. They were college classmates, but they were from different sides of the coin. Years later they reunite and find they are going through similar things and they are finally able to clear the air.

Finding home by Emma Mugglestone is about Andi and Jack. Andi is finally meeting her dad after all her life, not knowing who he was. He owns a ranch in which he invites her to stay at so they can get to know each other. However, Jack, who is Andi’s dad’s successor, is under impression that Andi was there to take over the ranch so things get heated and pranks start happening.

Anyone But Him is a collection of four enemies-to-lovers short stories.
The first story, Love Me Like You Mean It, was not for me. It featured unlikeable main characters, especially the heroine. I failed to understand what the hero saw in her.
The second story, Fight or Flight, was the best of the book. An enjoyable story with believable characters, although getting both characters to the second wedding took a lot of coincidences. Their relationship felt real from the beginning.
The third story, The Law of Attraction, was disappointing. It was a predictable story with a barely likable heroine and an apparently impulsive hero. It just wasn’t credible.
The fourth story, Finding Home, was difficult for me to connect with. There are no sweeping plains in the midst of mountains, so apparently the author wasn’t familiar with her setting. One week is too soon for a lasting relationship to develop, especially between two people with plenty of childhood baggage.
Overall, I would have preferred to see several stories by Stephanie Hazeltine and none of the others. Some readers may enjoy this more than I did.

Just like the character Sage in The Law of Attraction story in this book, sometimes you just need to read a little spicy romance to take a break from the world. This book gives you several options to take that break without needing to finish a full book. The four stories in Anyone But Him all utilized that enemies to lovers trope in different ways and often quite quickly. The final story, Finding Home, was a standout favorite and I'm now interested in reading another by this author. As for the other stories, they were good. Sometimes the short story part of it made the storyline/connection a little jarring but still worth the read. I look forward to more like this!

For context, I picked this up because I’m a fan of Elouise Tynan’s work! I also love short stories and this is my first spicy romance anthology!

My review by story: I was cackling with every page! Seriously, the first story, “Love Me Like You Mean It,” had great pacing and the best roasts. The spice was enticing when I picked up the book, but 15 pages in and I was living for the character interaction and dual pov narration. They’re witty and snarky to each other but totally the types of char’s I want to read about for being in their late 20s, living their adult lives, and frequenting the dating scene/being regular patrons of their bar. Reed and Jordie are easy to relate with and imagine, and Jordie’s flaws make the dynamic between her and her brother’s best friend that much more believable. Jordie and Reed are so unique and unlike the other characters from Elouise Tynan’s books that are in the college age range. Honestly, chef’s kiss! I didn’t think I could love her work more than I already did but this short story really surprised me in the best way, (and my jaw was already dropped seeing what else she would explore to write outside of sports romance when she released Hated You First). I cannot wait to see what else she releases in the future because she executes her ideas so well. Love love love! Also, the cheers at the ending? Perfect. Dylan, the brother, should get his own short story!

The first short story ends around 70 pages in and the book is some pages shy of 250, so when the first story was done I was sad to move on from the first couple. “Fight or Flight” slapped the momentary sadness out of me so quickly. Enemies at a wedding both in the past and present? Forced proximity with your hs rival? Hello, yes and yes! There’s one more trope, but I’ll leave that as a surprise, because it made me enjoy the story even more as I didn’t expect it. The context of Blair and Levi’s rivalry isn’t given until later in the story, which works well as we get to know the H and h more, but I was a bit confused about their initial relationship at the start. If you take that and continue along, things fall into place nicely. Levi was too much of a butthead when he supposes that Blair would’ve wanted to date a Matheson (aka him/his twin) in high school, but aside from that I grew fond of him and Blair easily. The end came quick but I wished for more pages of them together. This might be the shortest of the four, but definitely unforgettable!

How should I even begin with the 3rd one? I have to say, I really am the biggest sucker for any misunderstandings/miscommunication in romance stories. The roasts in the first story come with a long time of knowing each other since the main couple grew up together essentially, aka lots of ammo to shoot from experience. The roasts in “The Law of Attraction” are given in the main characters’ first encounter and the repartees are pointed and increasingly hostile until that frustration is released… in other ways haha! I loved Sage and I felt for Aiden. I’m not sure if I would say this is more serious than the first two, but there’s always something about the misunderstanding and lovers to enemies to lovers tropes that get me right in my feels. This short story did just that, especially knowing time was lost. AH, my heart! I really enjoyed them.

Last and certainly not least, we’ve got the small town romance/cowboy romance! The summary had me at “ranch foreman” and I was a goner. “No Fun Jack” is a grump and Andi moves from New York to Wyoming to meet her birth father who owns the ranch, (not that Jack knows this). Is she sunshine? I’d say she’s more of a cool and collected baddie who’s unafraid of giving back a taste of someone’s own medicine. PHEW. I am not joking or exaggerating when I tell you that halfway through the story, I forgot that I was reading a short story at all. The paperback in my hands felt like it could’ve all been for this one story and by the end, I wish I did have more time with Jack and Andi. Goodness, he can call me sweetheart any day. It was super cute in all aspects and if the author ever wanted to do a follow up story on Nick, I’d be all over it in a heartbeat. This one is insta-interest for anyone who’d like to know, but the enemies-to-lovers is strong in this one and is a solid conclusion to a fantastic anthology I know I’ll pick up again for many rereads.

If you’re wondering about picking this up, please, please do. This short anthology had so much to give from cover to cover and I think four was the perfect amount of short stories. This could absolutely be conquered in one sitting, but I really didn’t want to let go of each couple, so I took my time with it and felt content by the end. More short story, spicy anthologies, please! I bought this book on my own and will gladly purchase it digitally to support them more.

Anyone But Him is a collection of 4, steamy, quick reads that are sure to have something for everyone!
Overall rating: 4/5 stars 2/5 spice

📖Love Me Like You Mean It by Elouise Tynan: 3/5 stars, 2/5 spice
This is a sibling’s best friend meets enemies to lovers romance. The banter between the characters was enjoyable, however, I wish there was more of an explanation as to why they were at odds. As always with short stories, I was craving more build-up.

📖Fight or Flight by Stephanie Hazeltine: 4/5 stars 1/5 spice
This is one of my favorites in the anthology. In this story, we get a taste of academic rivals who end up in a fake relationship. This didn’t really feel like a short story to me. We get a taste of a back story and the rest just flowed so well and naturally in a fun and flirty way.

📖Law of Attraction by Alison Middleton: 1/5 stars 0/5 spice
Academic / Work Rivals. Unfortunately, this just wasn’t my cup of tea. There was a lot of back and forth and I found it kind of difficult to follow at some points. Also, the spicy scenes felt cringy and kind of clinical to me. Not for me but might be for someone else!

📖Finding Home by Emma Mugglestone: 5/5 stars 1/5 spice
Small-town cowboy? Sign me up! My other favorite in this anthology! While I wouldn’t consider this spicy, it was a true, romantic story. Flirtatious and good pacing with excellent banter. I’d love to read a full-length novel of these two!

The story
Four sweet short stories written by four different debut authors. The stories have an overriding enemies to lovers vibe, with different tropes. Brother’s best friend, high school enemies, second chance and boss’s daughter, mixed with attraction and spice. The story that stood out for me was the Finding Home by Emma Mugglestone.

This is a collection of 4 short stories. They are all enemies to lovers. In all 4 of the stories, the characters had a long history with each other, thus making the stories more believable in the length of the book.

My favorite story in the collection was "Love Me Like You Mean It" by Elouise Tyman. I really like the brother's best friend trope.

Since the stories are all fairly short, the plot moves very quickly. Nice choice for an evening read.

Oh. My. Gosh. What an anthology! Every story is steamy, enemies-to-lovers goodness. There’s angst. There’s URST. There’s denial of feelings. There’s steam (a LOT of steam). There’s people correcting their misassumptions about one another and finding love.

These are perfect, novella-length romances you can read in one sitting that’ll brighten your day.

Love Me Like You Mean It, by Elouise Tynan: Brother’s best friend, Banter on fire, Reluctant allies

Fight or Flight, by Stephanie Hazeltine: Fake dating, Destination wedding setting, Physical therapist x Athlete

The Law of Attraction, by Alison Middleton: Workplace romance (Lawyer x Lawyer), Second chance romance, Miscommunication

Finding Home, by Emma Mugglestone: Ranch hand x City girl, Fish out of water, Misunderstandings

I really liked this collection of 4 enemies-lovers shot stories.

I was only supposed to read and review “Love me like you mean it” by Elouise Tynan but was intrigued enough by that short story to read the others too.

I give “Love me like you mean it” 4 stars

Elouise Tynan’s story is about Jordana and Reed and it is an enemies-lovers and brother’s best friend romance.

Jordana was not very likable and was very childish and spoiled but she was kind of evened out by Reed who was very sarcastic towards her and pecked her down a few steps with his jabs. Their banter was so fun and funny and you could feel the fire burning hot every time they got together.

I give “Fight or flight” by Stephanie Hazeltine 5 stars

This story is an enemies-lovers and fake relationship romance.

This story is about Blair and Levi who has been enemies since high school, but at a wedding figures out that these feeling might not be hate at all.

It is a really sweet story and the main characters are really likable and great together.

I give “The law of attraction” by Alison Middleton 2 stars

This is an enemies-lovers romance between two lawyers in the midst of a divorce(not from each other) and they are set to handle each other’s divorces. They were in a relationship in college but broke up because of a misunderstanding and she was just so infuriating and cut of all contact at that point. I didn’t like any of the main characters and I really dislike the “misunderstanding” trope so I didn’t like this one.

I give “Finding home” by Emma Mugglestone 4 stars

This is an enemies-lovers and small town/ranch romance between a big city girl named Andi and a cowboy/ranch manager Jack. Andi is visiting her father on his ranch for the first time since she found out who he is and that he is alive. Jack gets the wrong idea and tries to sabotage her stay so she will flee from the place but she is more though that he thinks she is.

I really liked their banter and that they are indeed great people fighting to find their place in life. This is a very sweet story.

All in all this was a great read with very sweet stories and I can definitely recommend this book.

I got this book through Booksiren and Elouise Tynan and this is my honest opinion and my voluntary review.

This collection was very cute, but didn't quite hit the mark for me. They are all short, simple reads with some sort of enemies to lovers element.

🍁 Love Me Like You Mean It by Elouise Tynan brother's best friend romance
🍁 Fight or Flight by Stephanie Hazeltine high school rivals second chance romance
🍁 The Law of Attraction by Alison Middleton- college lust second chance romance
🍁 Finding Home by Emma Mugglestone- cowboy romance

I felt the sparks flying banter was lacking. Because these were short stories they cut right to the romance part, so I'm not sure I love the enemies to lovers troupe as a short story. Something about it doesn't work and takes away from what the troupe is because it seems tough to shorten and still have the right beginning chemistry.

All four stories have a few things in common- very cute, very sizzing in the spice department and all caught my attention enough that I'm curious to check out the authors' other works.
