This book presents an alternate view of the War Between the States. Most histories present Lincoln as an almost heroic god-like leader, but this book takes into account some of Lincoln’s questionable views and actions during his presidency which have been ignored by many writers. On the other hand, many historians do not focus too much on the opposing leadership of the president of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis. History Untold presents Lincoln’s dark side and also considers Jefferson Davis’s views.
Started strong but got disorganized halfway through. I was excited to read a different point of view, and one that I had often heard of when I was a kid. It started to get hard to read when the author started stating their opinions at random times throughout. I tend to be more of a point-by-point person instead of reading about opinions.
