After the eternal mercenary comes to the unexpected assistance of a young English noblewoman outside Calais, he is drawn into the service of the Beaufort family just as a dynastic struggle in England breaks out.
As part of the retinue of the Duke of Somerset, Casca finds himself fighting on the side of the Lancastrian faction as they struggle to vanquish their rivals of the House of York and dominate English politics.
Casca’s other mission is to ensure that the noblewoman, Genevieve Fitzroy, is kept safe, but in a land riven by factional conflict and where a friend may turn sides at any time, nobody can be fully trusted to look after her when he is off fighting.
Casca, however, is true to his word and will remain by the side of the Somersets, even if it means being vanquished on the battlefields of England where no quarter will be given.

I like historical fantasi es that are woven around Casca as he strolls through history touching real characters seeing his view that doesn't come close towhat's written in dusty old books. I would love to meet him one day I am sad that Casa was cursed by Jesus and has to wait for the second coming to die like a man because he stabbed him in the side. But the fun part I like is he has killed so many people in so many ways he has fun goading the butt heads to their doom. I would so love to train with him, to learn gladiatorial moves with all types of weapons. Become a master swordsman. I love the whole series Tony , you have raised the bar and breathed life into the series. Well done my man Well done. You keep writing I will keep buying and collecting, thanks for another great book.
I don't know if this book was shorter than previous installments or if this one simply engaged my mind more, but I finished most of it in one evening, and then finished reading the conclusion the next night.
Even though it's fiction, the author(s) seems to stay very true to the course of real-world historical events for the setting of each book within the Casca series. I've actually learned quite a bit about world history while reading the Casca series.
