Hope is essential for a good life.

Christmas isn’t celebrated in Zodia, so Tabatha has her work cut out for her when she attempts to help the people who live there understand the many bizarre traditions like cutting down trees that nobody in Zodia would think to do for perfectly understandable reasons that other readers should discover for themselves. Some of the most interesting scenes were the ones that explored all of the reactions to this holiday, from confusion to horror to curiosity to cautious joy.

I would have liked to more attention paid to a mistake the main character made that had serious repercussions for the village she was staying in. It involved her performing magic without knowing how to properly guide her powers or ensure that they had the right effect on the land. When her actions destroyed some crops, I was expecting her to be in huge trouble. What actually happened was disappointing due to how quickly everyone around her brushed it off. Just because she’s the Chosen One doesn’t mean that everything she does is the correct choice, after all, so I wish those scenes had been explained better.

Speaking of mixed reactions, I loved the way the characters reacted to each other’s opinions about Christmas as well. There was so much kindness in their interactions, and no one was pressured to feel any sort of way about this new experience for them no matter whether their impression were positive, negative, or somewhere in between those two extremes. This is something I wish were more common in our world as the pressure to express nothing but happy feelings about Christmas can overshadow the moments of joy I might otherwise find in it. Kudos to the author for creating such sensitive and sensible characters!

Snowfall was an interesting glimpse into a new fantasy world.

The 2025 52 Book Challenge - December Mini Challenge - 4) Blizzard

This was a very quick short story set in the Prophecy Series. As somebody who hasn't read the rest of the series, I was pretty confused on who everybody was, but other than that, the story was quite sweet. The main character wants to introduce Christmas and snow (and accidentally a snowstorm) to a land that doesn't celebrate, so she spends the entire story trying to spread Christmas spirit. It was short and sweet.

I’m not usually a novella gal, but wanted a fun short little romp. The story was cute and all, but I felt like I was watching a movie at 10x speed or was reading the spark notes version of a book

This was such a cute short story. I love how detailed the Author was. I would love to see this as a movie short. I feel like my daughter would want to be Tabitha in this book. I am getting ready to start her other book, New Moon, and now I know I am going to enjoy this. For sure pick this quick read up.

The story itself wasn't all bad, but I just wasn't a huge fan. The writing was very repetitive, which made it hard for me to read. I know it's probably how the characters themselves would speak but the language in the book was so formal it made it feel stiff.

Reading the description for this novella, it says that this book is supposed to be an introduction to the world and characters of this series. But reading it, I felt like i was a book or two behind and had me checking to make sure that this was the first book.

Also, I'm not a super big fan of the way the dialog is written. It feels very stiff and repetitive. The overall lack of description and world building is disappointing. I thought this was going to be a snowy setting based on the book cover, but it's not.

Snow Fall delivers a bit of home sickness from the protagonist, Tabitha. She does her best to bring the winter holidays to Zodia and share her world with an alien culture. The two cultures don’t always mesh.

The story is fast paced, the characters are well developed. The over all impression I am left with is this is an author to follow. This feels like a first book and I'm excited to continue reading this series to 1) see where the story leads and 2) to learn how this author grows.

This is was so christmassy and cute 🥹. If you like fantasy and need a novella between fantasy novels this is a great read☺️ more specifically to put you in the Christmas spirit. It felt like a magical hallmark movie but with black characters. The main character Tabatha is basically just teaching them about Christmas traditions and Christmas hope✨. Except we add some elemental magic to the mix. Definitely gave warm and fuzzy Christmas spirit 🎄🤗

3.5 stars ⭐️

I was looking for a short read with Christmas-y vibes and this book delivered that. It’s a warm and cozy little story set in an intriguing fantasy world. I probably would have enjoyed it a little more if I had already read the main series, and it could have used some more polish in terms of grammarish things (wrong tense is used at times, etc.). The character arcs were really fast but that does sorta fit a novella, and anyway the characters are really fun. Overall, I enjoyed it!

Ok.

Hmmm. It's hard to fairly rate a short work, but Snow Fall had potential that kind of fell flat. The dialogue fell flat and the conclusion seemed more about that it should have. The premise of the story (the issue prepared for) doesn't come to fruition. Instead, what seems like an Easter egg becomes the entire plot.
It reads as if a scientist took a swing at fiction. I'm still looking forward to the Prophecy series as this is my first book by Liz Bullard.

I think this novella was just an introduction to the series and the characters? Unfortunately it was just a little confusing. I couldn’t really figure out the ages or relationships to each other. There were also a lot of characters that popped up too many to keep track of. It didn’t really make me want to pick up the series.

The Christmas storyline was great I think it successfully showed that Tabitha was taking a tradition that she misses and brought it to this world.

I read this as a standalone so I went in with a slight disadvantage. That being said, I enjoyed the story and did not feel like I was really missing anything.

Tabatha introducing her "foster" family and the village to Christmas is delightful. I loved the relationships and how, in 63 pages, there is growth. I genuinely loved the character Onmai. Wise Sage who has fun!

This was my 1st try at fantasy/DNF. I got to about 45%. Being that this is a novella, I expected a faster paste to the conclusion. Explanation to plot was given at the beginning. However I was bored. I did receive this book free from the BRAE 2024 event. I do want to thank the author the opportunity to read their book. Maybe fantasy isn’t for me.

I haven't read any other books in this series, so I went into this blind. Although I don't know much about the overarching story, I enjoyed my short Christmasy time in this world. It felt a little cheesy at times, but, I mean, it's someone teaching a whole new world about Christmas. It was cute.
