To jest moje drugie tylko podejście do polskiej fantastyki w moim dorosłym życiu, mimo iż uważam się za weterankę gatunku. Rezultat: całkiem pozytywny.
Ucieczka. Przerażające wydarzenia opisane z ograniczonego punktu widzenia małego chłopca wydawały się jeszcze bardziej wstrząsające niż byłyby, gdyby opisywał je dojrzały narrator. Aż ciarki przeszły!
Dwie osoby wchodzą do windy. Pomysł był intrygujący, a rozwiązanie zagadki było zaskakujące i oryginalne. Został mi jednak niedosyt, bo w historii były pewne luki i niedociągnięcia.
Inkluzja. Zdecydowanie najlepsze opowiadanie. Znakomita atmosfera, dobrze zarysowane postacie (mimo bardzo krótkiej formy) i plastyczny język. Z tą autorką bez wątpienia jeszcze się spotkam.
Sześć wskazówek, jak biegać w ciemnościach. Najeżony metaforami horror. Mroczny i atmosferyczny.
Susza. Bardziej klasycznie fantastyczne opowiadanie inspirowane hinduizmem. Dobre, ale nieszczególnie oryginalne.

This is a collection of novelettes and short stories, originally published in 2021 and nominated for the main Polish SFF fandom award. The English title is Short stories nominated for the Polish Fandom Award Janusz A. Zajdel for the year 2021 (there is no split on novellas, novelettes and short stories as in Hugo Awards, only novels and short stories). Here follows a sneak pick at setting of each story and my opinion about it.
Ucieczka (Escape) by Michał Cholewa – a mining colony planet, somewhere in the past there was a rebellion of android miners and AIs, but colonists won. The story is written as experienced by a 10 year old boy and its strength is in the fact that he depicts things he doesn’t understand, but we reads do. There is some kind of protest of out-of-city miners, who assume that ones in cities got all profit with no sweat, which slowly growth violent, so boy’s family has to run away. While setting is SF, the most of the story can happen here and now. 4*
Dwie osoby wchodzą do windy (Two persons enter the elevator) by Anna Kańtoch – a woman wakes up in an office room with a message not to look back but run away. She looks back to see a dead man with his head blown off and runs… the story is more a mystery set in future, where public transport is free but paid with ads, which monitor reactions of passengers to personalize ads (and collect personal data perfect for police to solve crimes). The big reveal was already used somewhere, but otherwise a nice story. 3.5*
Inkluzja (Inclusion) by Marta Kisiel – my personal favorite. An old woman joins a group of female Couriers, who travel across settlements (?) in this post-apoc future, where creation of a cyber-bio replacement for vanished bees went wrong. She has nothing to barter to the Couriers to join them but to ‘babysit’ their kids during the journey. 5*
Sześć wskazówek, jak biegać w ciemnościach (Six tips for running in the dark) by Olga Niziołek – horror more than ‘pure’ SFF, how to run in the dark along a wall made of living hands. 3*
Susza (Drought) by Katarzyna Podstawek – the only fantasy nominee. There is a medieval fantasy set in Indian entourage (based on food and other stuff) but with elves. There is an evil mage that caused a drought and for the protagonist it is the first test to find the mage and deal with him. 3*

3,5 - niektóre opowiadania na 4, niektóre na 3 gwiazdki. Tegoroczny zestaw opowiadań trzyma dość wysoki poziom.
Piosenka, która zabija - to zapamiętam, zwłaszcza w kontekście piosenki protestujących dziś w Iranie i piosenek śpiewanych w Ukrainie, w schronach, przez ludzi kryjących się przed rosyjskimi bombami.

"Ucieczka", Michał Cholewa – 3/5 – Mam wrażenie, że opowiadanie dostało nagrodę za to jaką tematykę porusza, a nie za walory artystyczne. Czytało się przyjemnie, ale to nic specjalnego.
