Thea Rose left her toxic life in North Carolina for small town living in the mountains of Georgia. when she saw the rundown bar as an ad, she felt compelled to leave her old life behind.
She's got secrets, though. Secrets that involve being a single mom. Determined to have a care-free summer while her daughter is away with her ex, she finds herself wrapped up with four very attractive men. Men that seem perfect on the outside, but have their own dark secrets beneath the surface.
Can she hide from the group of men she finds herself entwined with?
Woah, when did small-town romances become this freaking hot & tasty? Can I move there?
My mind is literally trapped in their world. The blurb is enough to get you hooked, but the moment you take a bite out of this amazing and exciting story, of a single mom? Whatever inspired the author to create such a perfect vision, please hold onto it, give me more. I'll beg. Thea is everything - a mom, I have the utmost respect & admiration for. Her journey tugged so hard on my heartstrings, it is insane. In part, if I could live in a world of my own creation, that would be it. It's not even an exaggeration. Shane, Calder, Parker & Hendrix? Every woman's dream. I'm a fan of the vigilante stuff, so, those elements were thrilling, making me suspicious, to the point I began overthinking it. I expected a blow-up of some kind, and holy shit, did Adelaide King deliver on a silver platter? She did, oh yeah. Left me hanging there, by a thread, mouth wide open.
Cause, I wasn't expecting /that/!
Please, go dive in there, every page of this book, is an absolute masterpiece. Spice 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tropes MMFMM Vigilante Justice Single Mom Army Buddies - HOT RIGHT? SUSPENSE
By the way, how am I meant to survive the suspense until book 2 comes out? (PAIN) / arc reviewer - leaving my honest opinion of my own free will /
Most small town romances rely on traumatizing a woman for their plot. She rolls into town penniless, starving, abused, fragile, about to break until a strong man solves all her problems.
But here, Thea’s story begins with her first positive step in life. Yes, she’s had her own troubles. But she doesn’t feel broken. She’s taken custody of her daughter, claimed her father’s life insurance and bought a bar that she plans to resurrect. She has inner strength and belief in herself as she builds a new life. She’s not desperate and losing. She’s optimistic and determined.
The men come into her life because she wants them there. Not because she’s dependent on them. She wants happiness and pursues it beautifully. And they bring joy and friendship into her solitary life.
Fans of Why-Choose and Reverse Harems are about to be✨ BLESSED✨ There’s independent relationships, shared polyamorous relationships and MM/bi relationships. And a particularly filthy mouth 😂
Apologies in advance: you’re going to be jonesing for book 2 immediately. These relationships have so much further to go. We are gonna get so many stories out of these lovelies 😍
I really wish there had been more!! I needed at least 350 pages!
Thea is a young single mother. Her father has just passed away and left her with enough money she can move away from her abusive ex and try to make place for herself. She bought a bar and a small house and hopes to fix it up before she gets her daughter back from her summer break with her father. She meets the four town hotties and starts a summer filling with two of them. Little does she know that the guys are ex military and have a hobby of taking down bad guys on the side.
First off, I was kind of sad there weren’t that many reviews when I first read this book. I saw it on Tiktok in February and had to wait 4 months before it was released. I really enjoyed the story and I am a huge fan of multiple POVs.
The last 25% had some big typos and I wish it had more editing but I loved the characters and the story enough that it didn’t affect my rating.
I cannot wait to see where the story goes and it ends with a bang. Now I have to wait until July for book 2.
Why Choose is one of my all time favorite tropes to read. And when I tell you I've read a lot of them I mean I've read a lot. This was a short read but I can see where the author was going with. In the story we meet Thea a single mom starting fresh after ending a toxic relationship with her ex-husband. New city. New life.
We meet 4 hunks that serve in the Military together and and continue to stay together after they got out.
This book ended in a soft cliffhanger and I'm not sure exactly how many books she plans on releasing but I have a feeling it's only gonna get better!! Can't wait!
Thea Rose is starting her new life in Georgia, away from her toxic ex whom she shares a daughter with. With her daughter gone for a majority of the summer with her ex, Thea plans to spend the time getting her new tiny home set up and restoring the bar that she purchased with the money from her dad's inheritance. Nice, simple, easy summer. What she doesn't expect is to run into 4 very different guys that she finds herself attract to on some level.
Parker, Hendrix, Calder and Shane all served together in the army and now all live and work together in some combination. Each of the men encounter Thea on their own and feel this attraction to her (with the exception of maybe Calder but he is so grumpy it is hard to know with him). Despite Thea not looking for anything serious, none of them can really deny their attraction and Parker and Hendrix can't seem to stay away. While these men are no strangers to sharing, this time may prove different as each of them get to know Thea and find out different things that they like for her.
From the start, this book really hit it out of the park for me. While Thea has gone through some really tough times in her life, she hasn't let that put a damper on her spirit. She has risen above it and is working to make a new name for herself instead of wallowing in self pity which I think really helps strengthen the tough, female MC that she is. She also isn't super dependent on any of the men who have come into her life in this small town. While she enjoys having fun with Parker and Hendrix, she is still thoroughly committed to rebuilding her life and starting over in the best possible way for her daughter which I think is refreshing to see and adds a layer to this story. While eventually she may fall for all of the men, right now it is nice to see her maintain her independence while still having fun with Parker and Hendrix- and fun does she have....the chemistry between them is beyond steamy and I can't wait for it to grow in the next book.
The other fun thing to see in this story is that they all have some form of secret that they are keeping from each other. Thea obviously is keeping her daughter a secret from all of the men, while the boys are all playing their own version of secret ops. No one knows each others secret which I think is going to be really interesting as we get further in this series- especially since this story ended on a cliff hanger.
Overall, this story was very easy to read, had a good balance between the spice and actual life between these characters and was fast paced and keeps you hooked from beginning to end. July can't come fast enough because I seriously need to know what happens next for all of these characters
Ok, I really enjoyed this. Specifically the dialogue. It felt very realistic and, more than once, when a character spoke I thought “that’s what I would have said!”.
My recent pet peeves for writing have been unnecessary miscommunication and this specific scenario: when the main character (1st pov) has choices, knows which one is right, but inexplicably chooses the wrong one anyway. I don’t feel that either of these were present in this book. Thank you🙏
The length and content of this book felt right. Just enough to entice me to read that next book, but satisfied with the relationships that developed.
I really like the characters we’ve seen so far. Thea is a great main and I do feel that she’s been through a lot and deserves happiness. She is easy to root for. And I need more Shane in my life asap!
I will say there are a handful of edits needed (wrong character name was mentioned, typos, etc.) but those don’t tend to bother me unless there are a ton. Also, I had some trouble with the verb tense. I blazed through the book pretty quick so I could be wrong, but I swear there were tense changes here or there. I’d have to read it again to confirm.
WOW... First of all, I hate a cliffhanger but I am determined to read the next book. The book was a short and easy read. I loved the writing style switching between the main characters but there were definitely a lot of names to remember right off the bat. There was no fluff involved and it got straight to the point with the main characters. The small-town romance had me wishing that there were more hot people living in my own hometown. SMUTTY, not for children. I thoroughly enjoyed the book ;)
The plot itself was very captivating and interesting but I thought it lacked a little depth. There was almost no interaction with anyone in the town beside the love interests, so i missed the whole small town/community vibe. The idea was there but the execution wasn’t so great. I really like the characters tho, and there’s a lot of potential. That ending tho!!
This was a really great read. I love that this is going to be a series. I feel when doing a why choose romance it needs to be to make the connections and build the relationships really well. This first book has done that and I can’t wait for the next to see how the others come into this relationship.
A lie went something ie, why choose trope . This felt like a free fall for real I don’t know where the next chapter was headed. I felt like we’re just animals living and breathing vibes tbh and I didn’t connect with any characters. Maybe because the book was short but everything felt short , the convos , the scenes the plot.
I don't know exactly how to rate this. It was good but I do feel like this could've been a great story if it was a full length book absolutely. I would've loved to get to know these characters more and actually get a chance to see the relationship building between them. But overall not bad kept me entertained.
A why choose Romance.. And really why choose when you have 4 to have at the same time. I love where the story is going. I can't wait for the next book, so I'm so excited for this series and to see where it is going to go.
A really engrossing small town romance that had lots of spice, emotion and intrigue with engaging and interesting characters. I loved the sparks between them. I can't wait to see where the story goes and how dark it gets.
