Growly Bear meets Goldilocks – NOT. Winter might be bothered by the age gap, but there’s no better match for him than Maggie King. KING’S CATCH – SENTINEL SECURITY NYC – FIRST IN SERIES Maggie witnessed the murder of her brother and best friend. New York City was her escape plan, except now she’s sleeping on the streets, with a dollar to her name. Luckily, Sentinel Security just hired her as a translator.
Winter is ex-Delta Force, an elite sniper, now part of Sentinel’s NYC operation. A loner. Winter is not looking for a roommate. Definitely not a woman as sweetly packaged as Sentinel’s new interpreter. Trouble with a capital T.
When Maggie’s dangerous past lands on Winter’s doorstep, he vows to protect her. But can she trust him to keep her safe, or will her heart keep on running?
Stories have stood by me when times were tough and lovers came and went. Surrounded by my garden, I write about courageous men and women who fight for the rich lives and love we all deserve.
There was the perfect amount of backstory to set up this tale of two damaged people who were scared of love . Winter doesn’t think he deserves happiness and has survivor’s guilt following a bad deployment and Maggie is running from the man who murdered her brother and best friend. Their paths cross accidentally but both more than notice the other. Happily Maggie applies for a job at Winter’s security firm putting her just where she can find help. Really enjoyed this book.
A lovely story of two people’s journey of survival and finding love in impossible situations. Maggie and Winter suffer from survivors guilt in their own way. She’s on the run from her past where her brother and best friend were killed. He’s running away from the demons of his Military operation failure where his comrades died on his watch. She apples for a translator post at Sentinel Security here she meets Winter a loner who who is intrigued by her . And when her past catches up , Winter steps up to protect. Great setting, situations and enough twist and turns along with the two’s growing interest in each other keeps you reading and devouring more I received an arc and my review is my own words voluntary
Eliza Renton’s heroes are always – well – heroic. And gigantic. In her latest book, Winter is no exception.
Her settings are also unpredictable and imaginative. While we first meet Winter dressed in battle gear in Afghanistan, the main story starts with him in an unlikely location, quietly fishing at the end of the Valentino Pier in New York, taking in the view over the East River.
Here he meets Maggie, apparently in a spot of bother, and he immediately steps into protector mode. But this cleverly titled book rather reverses the order expected in a romance - although Winter is the fisherman, it’s Maggie King who catches him!
And here’s another surprise. Maggie is deaf in one ear, is a sign language expert and wears a hearing aid. Not your typical heroine. Winter can’t figure out, at first, why she is so focused on the movements of his mouth. Eventually he catches on and some witty dialogue emerges: “Maggie. Listen to me.” Winter tugged his earlobe, which always made her laugh. “Dammit, are you turned on?” “Yes. I can hear you,” she signed.
Sensuality and interesting similes and metaphors are a feature of Eliza Renton’s writing. For example: ‘this cock-eyed optimist beamed the same face-ache grin he’d sported every day since Winter had known him.’
Or: ‘She sucked in oxygen as though the universe had run out and didn’t expect a delivery any time soon.’
Or: ‘She couldn’t have been asleep long, but there was a thickness behind her eyeballs, like someone had stuffed a thousand pillows inside her skull.’
Some irony pops up in the story from time to time: ‘The only way she could get him to take a nap was if she read to him. Yep, turned out the five-year-old living in his giant body loved a bedtime story.’
And I laughed at this bit: ‘Head on a swivel, Winter scoped their surroundings, a token exercise, nothing more. No excellent cover trees had sprouted in the last ten minutes. The sun hadn’t met a cloud in months. Sitting ducks. They should be quacking.’
If you love military protector romances, you’ll love this one.
This is book one in The Sentinel Security N.Y.C. Series and it is Maggie and Winter’s story. When Maggie witnessed the murder of her brother and best friend she knows that she needs to run or else she will be next and she ends up on the streets of New York and then she gets a translator job for Sentinel Security hoping that she will now be able to move forward even if she does feel guilty that she got away and survived. Winter is an ex-delta force and an elite sniper but after his last mission went wrong giving him survivors guilt he is a loner and keeps to himself. When Maggie and Winter meet there is a instant connection and attraction between them that is so hard to deny but when Maggie’s past comes back and danger is all around her Winter will do everything and anything to keep her safe and protect her regardless of the situation and eliminate the threat before it takes away everything including there future. There are twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat while turning the pages to see what the outcome will be for them and I can’t wait to read more books in this series.
This was the first book in the series and I enjoyed the majority of it. The story had a little action and lots of humor. I especially enjoyed how she compared his behavior to that of a child, especially since he was worried about being older than her. Despite the way things have gone in Maggie's past she is still pleasant and determined. Maggie was definitely the right person for Winter, she balanced his broodiness out. I was really into the story until they got back from their first mission, then things lagged for me and I actually didn't read the story for the next day. I like stories that have me hooked until the end. This story did have me wondering what would happen to Maggie, but I wasn't on the edge of my seat, biting my nails. The story ends on a happily ever after which I appreciated.

Loved this book, the second I have read by this author, and it certainly won’t be the last. It was also refreshing to read about a heroine who is partly deaf, wears a hearing aid and uses sign language expertly. Maggie witnessed the murder of her brother and best friend, and is on the run to escape being next.Winter has not really recovered from a bad deployment but now works for a security company, looking on his fellow ex military team mates as his brothers but otherwise preferring to be alone. After meeting by chance, they both end up working for the same company, and their feelings for each other grow quickly. Will Winter be able to keep her safe or will her brother’s murderer find and kill her? I can thoroughly recommend this book.
Like wounded heroes who are lone wolves out to protect those they love? Meet Winter - sniper, Sentinel Security subtle alpha dude and all round hottie. Introduce a girl on the run, younger but street smart and strong, and often more mature than Winter - and you've got a great story base.
Maggie is on the run after witnessing a murder - Winter is assigned as her roommate when she comes to work for Sentinel. Things heat up over some sharp banter and funny moments - and then the chemistry kicks in. It's a medium-burn story for me because there wasn't enough at stake between Winter and Maggie - but it was still really great to read!.

King's Catch is the 1st book in the Sentinel NYC sub-series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but to me it felt like I was missing some background, not having read all the previous Sentinel books. Winter and Maggie are both very likeable main characters with a lot of chemistry between them. The way to their HEA is filled with danger, suspense and lots of heat.

Winter & Maggie are just too cute. Despite winter being a grumpy pants that seen too much in war, he fails being a hard ass to Maggie. You have to smile & roll your eyes as he tries & fails. Maggie is refreshing, funny & strong. Though working with a security company, you do get annoyed at her refusal to seek help. Together as they dance around the danger & the attraction, you cheer for their HEA.
Great start to the New York based series! Love a big, protective alpha hero and a strong, yet feminine heroine who knows her own mind. Hence why Winter and Maggie work so well together in this great romantic suspense story. I really enjoyed catching up with some of the past characters as well. They're an excellent team. I'm very much looking forward to reading the next in the series. I'm secretly hoping it'll be Storm's story! *fingers crossed*
The first book in the series brings Winter and Maggie's story. The author brings strong characters and weaves an interesting story filled with action, danger and a hot instant attraction. She kept me glued to the pages with all of the twists and turns along the way. She moves the story fluidly with her descriptive scenes and delivers a terrific read. I'm looking forward to the next book!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
After witnessing two murders, Maggie heads to NYC and gets a job at Sentinal Security as a translator. When trouble follows her, Winter steps up as her Protector. Smart, dangerous and so intense, this book really was excellent. I enjoyed both Winter and Maggie, their chemistry really was dynamic and I enjoyed the comraderie of the team too. Well done I am loving this series, and can't wait for more. This author is recently new to me. She is well worth the read. Highly recommended!!
This is the first book in this series Sentinel Security N.Y.C. The story is easy to read and follow. The characters are likeable and fit well together. I am looking forward to read the next book to see where this series will go.
The first book in the Sentinel Securities N.Y.C. edition and does not disappoint! It's a great book with lots of action and some heat. I now have to get the other Sentinel Securities series!

First time author for me! This is book one in a new series and I confess I want to read the London series. I appreciate that the author showed even our heroes are human and Winter's semi melt down with Maggie's work was appreciated, as well as Maggie's handling of the situation. The prologue was heart wrenching. King's Catch kept me engrossed and has me wanting book 2. Maggies like ability waffled with me, especially in the beginning, then she grew on me. This book, like most of the romantic suspense now a days, has the "romance" being steamy which means pages for me to skim to make sure I am not missing something with the plot. That's on me and I do not lower the score based on my dislike of detailed romance, that's not fair to the author. I did enjoy and will definitely keep an out for book 2. Thank you StoryOrigin for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.
Ten Days to go and Winter and Maggie's story is out in the world. You can still pre-order at the reduced price - but not for long. Pre-order: books2read.com/u/mBvQ6O So many good books out there. Happy Reading!
