The Legend Continues...

With the campgrounds destroyed, Ignacio has found a new place to take refuge. A new place to turn into hunting grounds. He has his eyes set on a very specific target that reminds him of his past. But hunting in a small town in PA will be different than in the isolated campgrounds.

Ignacio will have to be smarter. More patient. And wait for the right moments to strike...

The perfect time, he’ll come to find out, is on the night of ghouls and goblins and witches. On the night when everyone else is wearing masks and disguises, Ignacio will don his own mask and let the monster out like never before.

I was very excited to check out this sequel after loving Camp Slaughter, which I still describe as nightmare fuel. And while Halloween Slaughter isn't AS scary, it's still pretty intense.

Admittedly, I don't always love horror book sequels but this one worked. The author made nods to classic slasher sequels yet managed to avoid the usual campy vibes. Instead this second book remained serious with several gruesome dark moments.

The book didn't feel like a rehash, but instead really built off the first book into a new story arc. This one could be read as a standalone but it would be such a shame to miss out on the first book. I'm really excited to see this trilogy completed when the final volume comes out.

I would recommend this one to any horror readers looking for a great Halloween read.

I’d like to take a moment to thank my dear friend, Sergio Gomez, for not only sending me an ARC of his book, but for giving me (my character) an EPIC DEATH in this gory sequel.

Normally, I’m wary of the second book in a series. But I’m here to say that Halloween Slaughter beat the second book curse.

The Slaughter is back and we’re thrust right into the passenger seat with Ignacio. Our sights are set, and we’ve honed in on our first Barbie, I mean…. subject to massacre. 👀

Ignacio takes a job as a tow truck driver in a small town. He knows he has to be smarter. It’s not like hunting in the woods. He has to be careful, and patient.

Halloween Slaughter is more serious, and moved at a slower pace. It really seeks to dig under your skin and create a suffocatingly eerie feeling. The kills are gorier. And you can tell the amount of hours that Sergio spent making sure that Ignacio’s tale was told to perfection.

My favourite scene is the Halloween party. Just the overall setting, the vibes and the bloodshed really spoke to my spooky ghoul soul.

Listen, when you come to my death *cough* Officer Roos, just know that… it is BRUTAL and GLORIOUS. I’ve never been happier for myself to die 😂

Slashers are an integral part of Halloween Season and I sincerely hope you’ll be grabbing this one.

IT’S OUT TODAY!!!!!

I want be mildly spoiler-y…. The tale doesn’t end with this one. Oh no, we’re going back to the beginning…. And my friends, I can’t wait to see how Ignacio and Sergio come together to create absolute mayhem, for the final time.

The blade split her face open from her forehead down to her lips like it was a cantaloupe.

I really love Ignacio...I'm sorry. I know it's weird to root for you a cannibalistic, mask wearing, gargantuan killer, but I do. 😩

Halloween Slaughter returns with all the blood, gore, and carnage. This time, Ignacio has new hunting grounds and has set his sights on his new Barbie doll. Though it takes a while to get to the full slaughter, the build-up to get there was just as good. The high body count and descriptions of each massacre, satisfied my slasher itch.

I also really liked how each kill wasn't drawn out longer than necessary. It was swift, brutal, and bloody. Just how I like it. I also like the subtle nod to another favourite of mine, Jason Vorhees. If you've read this one, then you know what I mean.
I'm gonna be saving the final slaughter for this upcoming spooky season.

Now this is how you write a damn near perfect slasher!

Okay, the first book was pretty good but holy shit, this sequel had everything. It’s rare to see a slasher that puts this much effort in crafting good characters. There was so much going on and the ending has me so excited for the last book in the trilogy!

Sergio Gomez, you killed it with this one

" 'Tomorrow's Halloween, Tuck. The most magical time of the year.'
'That's Christmas, you goof.'
'Yeah, sure. That's what they want you to think.'
'Who's they?'
'Society. Think about it, Tuck. Halloween is the only holiday you can celebrate no matter what age. Christmas loses its magic once you don't believe in Santa.' "

Not even going to beat around the bush here... this book was AMAZING.
Honestly, I thought this one, like so many other sequels, wouldn't be as good as the first. But let me tell you right now it was so much better.
I won't lie, the first half was slow. The first book was action packed from the start but this one took its time getting to the juicy part of the story. A lot of it was introducing characters, and building up to the main events.
But let me tell you, that when the title says slaughter, it means slaughter. If you read the first and thought that was brutal, be prepared because this one was so much more.
My one and only gripe is the fact that at the end it states that the story isn't over and that there will be one final book. So now I'm going to have to wait very very impatiently for the next installment.
Once again, if you are squeamish; avoid, avoid, avoid.

If you enjoyed Camp Slaughter, you need Halloween Slaughter!

Halloween Slaughter continues the story of Ignacio / Varias Caras with everything we’ve come to love about Sergio’s writing. Namely, how invested the reader becomes in each and every character- even if they are only present for a few pages.

I, personally, connected with Diana the most. She shared my same dream job and proved herself to be a smart and strong female character. I do wish we had been able to spend more time with her and her arc, though. It seemed to me that Halloween Slaughter spent the majority of its pages setting up for the next book, and definitely could have benefited more from staying in the present story, in this reader’s opinion.
I’d also have liked a little bit more exploration of Caras’ shifting pattern - as it seemed he was less interested in his “Barbies” this book and was more intent on something else (which, again, might be a purposeful set up for the next book).

That being said, I did enjoy reading this book and definitely want to read the next one! My thanks to Sergio for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. And especially for accepting my feedback and excitement with grace.

I’ll say it one more time, preorder Halloween Slaughter!

Another fun and bloody romp with Ignacio slicing and dicing his (its?) way through the young folks of another Anytown, USA. Corpses, severed heads, cages and cannibalism populate this entertaining second chapter of the planned Slaughter trilogy- popcorn violence en masse.

The story of Varias Caras continues in this second installment of the Slaughter Books series. In this book we learn what Ignazio did, once he left Camp Slaughter to the flames and how he (and Varias Caras) got on with their life.

Now, barely six months later, his hunger for blood and human meat has only grown and since Halloween is right around the corner, it’s the perfect time for him to get back to killing and slaughtering.

This book wasn’t as good as the first one, there were some great scenes, but the whole atmosphere of ‘Camp Slaughter’ was missing for me. There were a lot of characters involved and we got to meet them throughout the story, but it took ages for the real horror to kick in and then it ended faster than I would have hoped.

The good news is, there will be a third book in this series and I’m dying to read (see what I did there?) how this story continues and if we maybe meet some survivors of the previous books.

In this sequel to Camp Slaughter, Varias Caras is back and preying on a small town. He has his eyes set on a new “Barbie” to play with as he viciously tears people apart who get in his way.

This story was excellent, If I had the time to just sit down and read it for an entire day, I would have. I devoured this as fast as I could and I’m still hungry for more! And lo and behold, this isn’t the last we’ll hear of Varias Caras, since yes there will be a third book! 😁

This follows multiple POVs, from Ignacio (Varias caras), to the Sheriff, Judy and her best friend Daphne, Trevor with his group of friends and Diana - a victim. Sometimes there can be some confusion when following so many different perspectives, but this was well done and easy to follow. Everyone had their own individual personality and their chapters transitioned smoothly into each other. The characters are well developed in a way that makes you emotionally invested in them, but it can be a heart-wrenching thing when they’re later faced with the monstrous killer 😬 Varias Caras himself is as deeply disturbed and as brutally vicious as ever! Lots of gory and unique kills, my favorite involved a Tire Shredder, and that’s something I’ll remember for a very long time 🫣 The only reason why it’s not a full five star read is because some chapters that involved Trevor and his friends dragged a little, but it was still all very enjoyable overall.

This is a perfect Halloween read with rich atmospheric descriptions of autumn leaves, Halloween decorations, pumpkins and Costumes. While this is a horror novel, it also had its cozy moments. I highly recommend checking this out, especially during spooky season.

I am a Sergio Gomez fan for life! HALLOWEEN SLAUGHTER is the slasher sequel to Camp Slaughter. It took everything I enjoyed about the first book all the way to 11. The characters are stronger, the story is even tighter, the thrills and kills are on another level, and we get a deeper look into our killer, too. The format kept me further engaged and the pace never slows down. There's something great on every page. The two year wait for this book was well worth it! Now I hope I can be as patient for the next one because if this sequel set any sort of precedent then a third book might literally break me. AHHHH! This one is just so good!

one of the things I hate most about this series is that the author does a really good job of getting me attached to characters I know will most likely be unalived. but thats my own fault for starting a slasher and hoping for a happy ending every time.

my main critique for this one is that it was a lot slower than the previous one - nothing /really/ happened until the last 150 pages and by then it was just squished all together.

After reading this one, I was certain I wouldn’t be up to reading the final one BUT the last interaction of characters (I’ll be vague for spoiler purposes) made me change my mind

• Gory Scenes
• Serial Killer Stories

I was super vague with my review for Camp Slaughter as that’s a book you should go into without knowing much… and this review will be even vaguer.

Halloween Slaughter is the sequel to Camp Slaughter (I believe there’s another one releasing sometime). If you liked the first book then I’m certain you will like this one. I ended up enjoying this one a tad bit more.

I can’t say much, but this book does follow the aftermath of the first book with our serial killer. There’s also a recurring theme that I enjoyed in the first one.

Just like the first book, Halloween Slaughter is full of gory kills and scenes. It definitely falls under the extreme horror category.

If you love classic slashers like Jason and Leatherface, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this series. There’s also Latinx rep with the characters and I loved that about the book! This is obviously a vague review, but I would highly recommend checking out this book if you’re okay with extreme horror.

Great follow up to Camp Slaughter. You do not have to read it though to enjoy this book. Granted, for the 3rd book you may want to haha. Very good pace through out the book overall. Well writen and easy to follow along to what is going on. Just like the 1st book, just enough character develpoment to get to know them, even though not all make it out alive. Was supprised at the ending, which was nice. Really set up for the 3rd book. Very descriptive kills again for the most part, but some were just eh. I really liked the little nods to other horror killers, the mask he wears, his chainsaw, even the hockey mask. Can not wait for #3

A sequel to Camp Slaughter. This read very much like a movie and the kills were creative! I also loved the Michael Myers stalking style included. Vibes of Halloween, Friday The 13th and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Can’t wait for final instalment!!!

REVIEW

This was one of my most anticipated releases after I read the first one this year, and it did not disappoint! I fell into the story right away and read it so quickly. This book is significantly longer than the first one, but it didn’t read like it was longer. I read this one just as fast as the first one.

One of the things I really love about these books is that we get the perspectives of so many characters. I also read this book on the day I watched Halloween for the first time and this book took all the good parts of that movie and made the story even better!

Where does one begin with this masterpiece. Do we start with the absolutely brutal slayings, the vivid details, the new character development we get of Ignacio, or maybe our new final girl?

No matter where you start. This book is one of the best follow ups to the original. Sergio Gomez really created a brand new setting to be terrified of with Halloween Slaughter. Halloween Slaughter is perfect for fans of Friday the 13th, Halloween, or Sleepaway Camp, this book is a master craft of the slasher genre.

Go read this book immediately! You don't have to have read Camp Slaughter before this book, but it does enhance the reading.

PS - thanks Sergio for giving me new nightmares around some of the deaths in this book.

PPS - see everyone in the THE FINAL SLAUGHTER COMING SOON!

Really enjoyed this one. It was a worthy followup to Camp Slaughter. Sergio Gomez is a great writer, and this book once again proves that. Ignacio brings the pain, and if you thought it was over, you were wrong. Fans of the first book will enjoy this, and if you haven't read it, you need to catch up so you can check this one out.

Tw: murder, attempted rape, gore, animal death

I'm not entirely sure how I found this series but read the first one sometime last year. I LOVE that this author is inspired by one of my favorite movies of all time (Texas chainsaw massacre) and he definitely pays homage to that. Ignacio is a murderer and a cannibal and he's relentless. He won't stop until the monster inside of him is fed. His appetite for murder and cannibalism is unrelenting, and it's like he can never get enough.
I was so attached to Judy and Daphne and so many characters in this. This one is intense, and if you are a horror buff like I am, you will like this one. I had so much fun and I'm sad this series is coming to an end (1 more book). I loved Judy and Daphne's dynamics too. I loved how messy this one is, it's so much gorier than I remember camp slaughter being. Now that I know there's like a whole slasher genre you will likely never see me read much else lol

I have been a huge fan of Camp Slaughter since I've read it in 2019 which then made me read all of Sergio's other works. Then I got the audiobook for Camp Slaughter to enjoy again.

I admit, I was slightly worried that Halloween Slaughter wouldn't be the amazing sequel I was hoping for and I am so glad that worry was for nothing. Halloween Slaughter was a fantastic sequel that sucked me in. I enjoyed everything about the story and some of the death scenes were just brutal. Great thing if you ask me! If you enjoyed Camp Slaughter you will absolutely love Halloween Slaughter!

I started this sequel hoping for more cannibal craziness and gore (and hopefully no more friggen Noelle… who I despise 😒)! Right away things get crazy in Hilltown!

Favourite Line(s): “He sat inside the truck with the owner’s face safely stashed inside the glove compartment.”

This was definitely a longer and bloodier book. I loved that it took place over Halloween, and it was definitely one of my top reads for Spooky Season!

It ended with a bit of a cliffhanger (and goddam Noelle 😠), but it sounds like there’s a third book in the works! We will see what happens next as characters old & new return to CAMP SLAUGHTER!

Random thoughts: a lot of women in these books just happen to have switchblades 🤷🏻‍♀️
Also everyone, even the police, still suck at shooting guns…

Maybe it’s the slump I’m finding myself in or maybe it’s just the book, who knows at this point, but I didn’t enjoy this one as much as I had hoped. It took me much longer to get through this installment. By the 50% mark I was getting bored. This one moved much slower than the first and the story dragged for much of the book. It had all the gore you could ask for from a slasher, but the pacing really killed this one for me. No pun intended. Not sure if I’ll finish out the series just yet.

3.5 stars! I definitely liked this more than the first one but I’ve read better slashers. This was the perfect read that is scary but also super easy to read and get through. The Halloween vibes were absolutely perfect for this time of year. The Halloween party, costumes, so many Halloween references.. that really made the book super enjoyable.

With Camp Slaughter literally burnt Ignacio and his alter Varias Caras head to Hilltown. Ignacio begins working as a tow truck driver after a hospital stay. This allows him to still find Barbies and meals. Diana is on her way to a job interview when her car breaks down. Unfortunately, she is rescued by Ignacio and taken to his attic. She’s not who he really wants. Ignacio becomes obsessed with a nurse who took care of him in the hospital. He begins to stalk her, waiting for the opportunity to take her. The opportunity arrives on Halloween at a party thrown by Judy’s roommate’s brother, as does the slaughter. Full of gory kills and I’m ready for the next one!!!

Halloween Slaughter is the second book in the series and things just keep getting more violent and bloody! I will say this one was a bit slower, but that doesn’t mean it’s boring by any means. There is not a single dull moment. It is a wild ride. Very fun and gory. The kills are way more intense. Added bonus that the massacre takes place on Halloween! Very spooky. And I can’t wait for the next one in the series!!! 🤩 This book is a perfect slasher for the Halloween season. I highly suggest you pick it up, and the first one if you haven’t yet!
