Updated 2023, gives very gd recommendations even for seasoned travelers to South Korea. Able to plan 2 weeks trip based on this. Way better than many other travel guides. Good maps, just the right amt of info.
This extensive travel book covers all the areas of Seoul and outside excursions. I picked this up primarily to get details about Busan and Jeju assuming work sends me to South Korea a second time.
Maps, pictures, what to do if you only have two days, etc.
every mention of jjajjangmyeon in the final chapters of this made me black out and see stars. I NEED.
Jokes aside this is a WILDLY helpful resource. I'm giving it five stars simply because it takes a lot for a book to have physically and literally in real life affected my actual experience of life so much lol. I never found a single inconsistency and it basically made it so I didn't have to do the whole research google doc type A itinerary thing, which I thought would seem to totally be my style but I found myself just nooooottttttt wanting to work on. This book let me be flexible! and if I just circled every bookstore and market and did that then what's it to youuuuuuuuuuu.
i read the Seoul and Paju sections while in Seoul and Paju and then the Busan and Jeju parts months later.
