He’s a vampire haunted by his past. She’s a cursed black cat shifter. This Halloween, will love finally set these two tortured souls free from the shadows of their past?
Joe Evensen has never been a fan of Halloween. However, as the owner of Last Drop bar, each year he hosts a Halloween Bash for Crescent Creek. It’s a business decision, but it also serves as a distraction from the ghosts of his past who torment him while the veil between the living and the dead is thin. Joe doesn’t expect this Halloween to be any different, but it is.
Ivy Pendle has been cursed since her eighteenth birthday. She’s spent years only allowed to walk in her human form on Halloween in search of her mate and never finding him. Doubting she ever will, she decides to spend her last Halloween allotted as a human enjoying herself instead of stressing about being stuck in her shifter form forever.
When the two meet by chance, there’s a spark of something between them. But is it simply a case of misery loving company, or something more?
Halloween With A Vampire is a standalone Halloween story set in the larger Paranormals of Crescent Creek world. If you enjoy reading about small towns with quirky characters and shifter romance stories with Fated Mates and Happily Ever After endings, you’ll love these books!
Jennifer Snyder lives in North Carolina where she spends most of her time writing New Adult and Young Adult Fiction, reading, and struggling to stay on top of housework. She is a tea lover with an obsession for Post-it notes and smooth writing pens. Jennifer lives with her husband and two children, who endure listening to songs that spur inspiration on repeat and tolerate her love for all paranormal, teenage-targeted TV shows.
This is a spooktacular five-star read. I simply adore Crescent Creek and hope we get to hear so many more holiday stories from this place, as there are so many amazing characters that I can’t wait to hear more about. Ivy was just simply amazing just resigned to her fate and accepting of it, it showed us some great maturity and showed us how to be happy with what we have. It was just so sweet to see Joe come out of his shell and start to live again, his gift sounds great on the surface but it must be so difficult. It was just lovely seeing the last drop and him come to life again. I must admit though, I am hopeful we will get to hear from a certain librarian soon, as I am wondering what keeps her turning.
As a black cat shifter, our main girl is stuck in kitty mode after turning 18. She has 24 hours each Halloween to be in her human form but, in a cruel twist, she only gets nine Halloweens to find her mate. A fortune teller told her once that her mate was no longer living so, on her ninth Halloween, she decides to just enjoy being human for the last time.
A sweet, slightly spicy, short Halloween tale where the characters draw you in and you wish the book was longer. Fortunately, this is related to the author’s “Crescent Creek” world that includes all sorts of paranormal characters, starting with the werewolf shifters Crescent Pack series.
A short sweet read! This is Ivy's last year of her cures and if she doesn't find a mate she'll be a black cat forever. She went to a fortune teller and was told her mate was dead, so what was she to do? Joe runs his bar the Last Drop and lives haunted by the death of his wife. They meet at his bar and he decides to spend her time as a human together. The visit the bakery ran by Witches and they know something that Ivy & Joe dont.
Thos story starts of as a heartbreaking tale of Ivy a cat shifter stuck in her shifter form except on Halloween. Joe who has a past he is running from. When they meet there is chemistry. This book was a sweet addition to her books. I loved everything in it.
Ivy is a black cat shifter and cursed. She is only human for one day of the year and this Halloween is her last chance to find her mate. Otherwise, she will never be human again. She meets Joe, a very handsome bartender on what could be her last night as a human. Could he be her mate?
I loved this sweet, short book. I already enjoy the town this story is set in, and I really enjoyed the plot line. I'm looking forward to more in this series!
Reseña — Halloween with a Vampire de Jennifer Snyder
Can you imagine wandering for nine years looking for your soul mate in order to remove the curse that allows you only one day a year to search for them? This is what happens to Ivy. It's her last day as a human to be able to break the curse. Resigned to the fact that this is her new reality, she decides to enter a bar, where she discovers the most beautiful and tormented vampire, who immediately attracts her. What happens next? The two have just one night to get to know each other and make the most of the time they have been given. Ivy helps Joe overcome his stormy past as he waits for midnight to strike to discover his future.
Not that it's a spectacular book, as it's pretty rosy, with just the right amount of sex, after discovering they were partners. What was so appealing about it? That it wasn't an animalistic, instinctive reaction. They both fought the attraction thinking precisely about the pain it would cause the other if the situation didn't go the way they both wanted it to. They met on that night and searched for things in common that would bring them together. It was a short time, but just enough time to break the curse and start their HEA.
If they had developed it more with a little drama, lurking enemies, almost insurmountable obstacles, it would have surely merited more marks.
Halloween with a Vampire is a sweet shifter/vampire romance. Ivy Pendle is a cursed kitty. This is her last Halloween to find her fated mate before she's destined to roam the earth solely in her black cat form. Resigned to her fate, instead of going home to see her parents one last time, or even truly search for her mate, Ivy stays in Crescent Creek and finds herself in the Last Drop Bar owned by Joe Evensen.
Joe is being haunted by the sins of his past - literally. Figuring this Halloween will be the same as all of the previous ones, he prepares to wallow in grief and misery. Fortunately his Halloween Bash should distract him, if for only a little while. When a stranger shows up in his bar, and the torments from his past lessen, he realizes who and what she is, but not why she's there.
Ivy and Joe are fantastic characters. I loved them each individually but even more so when that spark hits. They had chemistry from the get go. I was impressed by the spectacular development of such a short story. The reader is given enough information about each character, allowing us to watch them grow just a little bit throughout the book. I loved the world-building and vivid descriptions.
I love the originality of the story. The curse placed upon Ivy is different (to me, anyway). I enjoyed how the author spun her story.
This was my first book by this author and will definitely read more of her work. I thought the premise of the story was unique in that there was a time limit on finding her mate. Ivy must find her mate in 9 Halloweens are she is stuck in her cat form forever. Joe is haunted by his past , as in literally haunted, every Halloween. Ivy feels completely dejected that she hasn’t found her mate and this is her last chance and strolls into Joe’s bar. Will fate be kind to them both or will they need a little help to see what’s in front of them? Read this great book to find out. Would highly recommend this book for a quick well written read.
This was a sweet, cozy fated-mates/insta-love Halloween novella. Ivy is a cat shifter and Joe is a vampire who owns a bar. Ivy has inherited the family curse: She will live in her shifter form, a cat, except for 1 day a year - Halloween! Ivy has 9 Halloweens to find her mate or else she is cursed to remain in her cat form for the rest of her life. The book begins just prior to the 9th Halloween. Feeling helpless, Ivy has decided to accept her fate and spend one last peaceful day in her human form. Ivy ends up in Joe's bar and they are both drawn to one another.
There are literally countless books with shifters finding their mates. In the Jennifer Snyder books I have read, including this one, there is always something more. There is context: real lives and jobs and dreams and friends and community in the characters' lives. And there are insights leading to growth and unexpected change. Insights, even ones we've come across before, can light us up inside. Sometimes they are exactly what we need to hear in that moment. Reading can be so satisfying! Happy reading!
This Halloween themed story is the first I've read by this author and I loved it.
I really enjoyed Ivy and Joe's characters and their chemistry right from the start was great to read about and I got very invested in them.
Even though the book is under 100 pages I feel like there's a lot of development and has made me as a reader want to discover more from this town and the people we are introduced to in this book.
This can be read standalone, and has a well rounded ending also.
This was such a cute story. Super sweet and angsty with just a dash of spice. Ivy being a black cat shifter with a curse was very interesting and I loved Joe, our hot vamp. Well written with lots of humor. I did notice 2 or 3 small things that were missed during editing, such as at one point Ivy makes a comment in her inner monologue about vampire's 'lairs', but it was spelled as 'layers'. All in all it was very entertaining, but personally I did want more spice.

This was such a cute read. Ivy is cursed. Only allowed to be human one night a year. That is until she finds her mate. It's not that simple. There is a catch. Don't find your mate. Forced to live as supernatural forever. Joe one last drop. He is a vampire. Tortured by his past. Until he meets Ivy and she agrees to bartend. Here's to a little fun before midnight and turning back into a pumpkin after the ball.
Ivy is under a curse and just find her mate by midnight on Halloween
Joe the local vampire runs a bar and Ivy is drawn to him. Poor Ivy is a black cat three hundred sixty four days but this Halloween I her last chance to find her mate. Sparks fly between them and with a little push from friends they connect. Meet cute and a satisfying ending.
Cute story! Loved Ivy and joe. They were both cursed in their own ways and they broke them for one another. Loved their connection and how they just clicked. So happy icu got adara back. Since I read adaras book first I had guessed Ivy was her lost cat. I hope we get a scene where they work that out.
This was a fun, quick, Halloween fated mates novella. Honestly, it is what it is and I couldn't ask for something more. I loved the take on a cat shifter - like house cat type of cat - and how her perspective was. It made me think if my kitty enjoyed the audiobooks and podcasts I'd listen too (I know she liked Grey's Anatomy). Perfect mood reading for Halloween if you want more spoopy vibes.
This was a super sweet, fated mates, vampire/black cat shifter romance with a touch of curses and ghosts. I loved the instant connection between these two, that felt believable since they didn't jump into bed together after a few hours (they waited a whole 24!). I loved the Halloween theme and the sweetness between them. I would read more in this cute little paranormal town.
This was a sweet almost cozy read! Fated mates with the cutest instant connection. A vampire who has been alone and haunted by his past and a girl whose family was cursed years ago by a witch. By being forced to become a cat at the age of 18 and only be allowed to be human on Halloween for 24 hours. She must find her fated mate by the 9th Halloweeen or be stuck as a cat for

A short cute and fun halloween novella! I was hooked from start to finish! This adorable cat is on her last chance to find love before she’s forever stuck on her cat form! LOVED IT!!!
Cute story, but too much of a slow burn for me. This book is short, and she's on a time crunch to find her mate, and she still holds back when she feels a strong connection to Joe. She's a bit of an idiot for that.
You can never go wrong with a Halloween story, and intertwine the black cat story with it, is the best. This story was really good, even though I was sad for Adara. Speaking of her, I hope she gets her own book down the line, and a new cat!
