This is a boys’ love novel set in the Dom/Sub universe.
The heir to the Griff family company and wealth, Anthony Griff has everything going for him. He’s just graduated high school, looking to attend college fully paid for by his Dom parents, and all he has to do is get his secondary sex of Dom confirmed so he can attend his preferred Dom-exclusive college. Yes, everything in his life is set in stone until he gets his results back. He isn’t a Dom, despite his mother and father both being Doms. Instead, he is the worst possible option: a Sub.
Anthony can no longer take over the Griff family company, he can’t attend the university he intended to attend, and his parents no longer feel the need to support a child that can’t meet their expectations. With his world turned upside down, what Anthony had planned for his life is no longer a possibility. So begins his life as a Griff Sub, which entails being sold off to the highest Dom bidder, and in this case, that bidder is Daniel Abbott, a much older Dom and the brother to the current CEO of Abbott Industries. All Anthony can hope for now is that Daniel is kind and they can someday be happy together, his life no longer being his own.
That is until a pink-haired, golden-eyed Dom named Noah breaks into Daniel’s home while he is away, only to find Anthony there. Noah doesn’t seem that bad of a guy, all things considered, and he is a Dom to boot. On a whim and in an attempt to take control of his life, Anthony demands one thing from Noah:
Eve Healy is an author of gay and BL romance and erotic fiction novels. However, Eve does not limit herself to just one subgenre of romance, whether it be love in small towns or love amongst the stars. She grew up in a small town but expanded her horizons with books, including romance novels, manga, and manhwa. With so many different ways to fall in love, Eve wants to make your heart flutter with all of them. But, more than that, Eve intends to explore what goes bump in the bedroom.
I currently live in Alabama with my partner. As high school sweethearts, my favorite love story to tell is our own, though I supplement it with love stories I make up in my spare time. I love anime, manga, manhwa, and books in general. All recommendations are welcome! When I am not reading, writing, or trying to seduce my husband, I spend time with my dogs – a lab, a blue heeler, and a pit bull. Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my work.
Dom/sub-universe, but it is not good described and I wonder if I had to read another book to get the dystopian background. Besides that little hitch, it's a wonderful story. But also a dark one. Some triggers: unhealthy BDSM practices and dubious consent. The way the dynamic between Dom and sub works has something of ugly mind control. I felt a little queasy reading it in the beginning.
I wanted to say my safe word, but I couldn’t say a thing as my body sunk to the ground, falling into a default kneeling position. 😥
It was funny, I wasn’t afraid of him biting into me or even beating me, but something about him putting himself inside me had me wanting to run and cry. 😥😥
“It’s our first night together. We can’t stop now.” And just like that, the first night with my Dom went on, and on, and on. 😥😥😥
Fortunately, the story developed in positive ways and Anthony finds someone who treats him well.
Noah’s lips crashed against mine, desperate and wanting. No, not wanting, needing. If I didn’t know any better, I thought he was trying to eat me, devour me so I’d be safe inside him. Part of me wished he would. 😍😍😍
Loved the dynamic and the emotions between Anthony and Noah.
I'm a simple woman. I see a bondage BL erotica book, I read it. 😌
I Want You to Own Me has a refreshing take on the Dom/sub role that reminds me of omegaverse dynamics. In this book, some people will exhibit a secondary sex (either Dom or sub) upon entering adulthood. Unlike normal BDSM books, the secondary sex makes the individual's tendency to be dominating or submissive a lot more predominant than just mental preferences. There's a sprinkling of mind control here that I thoroughly enjoyed.
This book started off surprisingly dark and traumatic for the main character, Anthony. I honestly almost DNF'ed it, because I thought his love interest was a complete asshole. But it turned out Anthony didn't meet the other main character, Noah, until almost 40% into the story! Be warned, if non-con isn't your thing, you'll probably struggle through the early part of the book too.
I'm a very character-driven reader, so I was a little bit disappointed that everyone in this book was a tad bland and unintelligent. But well, I expected a bondage BL erotica book, and Eve Healy delivered. I'd say this was pretty good!
Following the suggestion of a friend, I picked this back up at 32%. This review only covers 32%-100% of the book. Original review can be found below.
The good + Anthony asking Noah to steal him + Anthony + Noah making sure Anthony always consents + The growth of their relationship + Noah praising Anthony a lot + Anthony standing up for himself
The neutral o I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. My review remains honest and unbiased o 'Real life' terminology was used with meanings specific to this universe, which did not always coincide with their actual meanings. People should definitely Google the terms new to them, and not blindly accept the definitions given in this story
The bad - I had to basically skip the first third of the book to be able to read it due to the first 30% being full of non-con. A content warning for non-con would've been greatly appreciated - When Anthony found out he was a Sub instead of a Dom, it was like a switch was flipped and he was suddenly susceptible to Dom glares and commands. Shouldn't he always have been if he had always been a Sub? - This book was a weird mix between a dystopian setting ("A Sub's only hope in the world is to find a Dom nice enough to take them in and treat them nicely.") where Subs were considered 'lesser', and a 'general' contemporary setting where everyone expected Subs were usually treated fairly. I mean, even the Sub cop didn't doubt for a moment that Anthony would be in good hands with the Dom who purchased him like he's a commodity - What was Noah's full-time job? Thieving? Also, was Anthony supposed to always stay at home and not get a job or anything to do? - Noah always asked for Anthony's consent, with some kind of "the Sub is in control" assurance, but in this world the Sub was never in control, because they were physically unable to resist Dom voices. I appreciate Noah's efforts, but in the grand scheme of things, the ability to consent for a Sub was one giant dark joke - "I'll try to earn my keep." "You don't have to clean up to do that. Your body is worth plenty on its own." Way to make your boyfriend sound like he's nothing more than a convenient body to play with
Quotes x He was like a cotton candy puppy, which had my heart thrumming uncontrollably in my chest. x If I had it my way, I would be strapped to him at all times, letting him lead me around wherever he wished.
Because of the 'rules' set in this universe regarding what it means to be a Dom, Sub or Switch, any kinky and/or sexual interaction (or hell, even any other interaction) was inherently of dubious consent, if not straight-up non-con. Subs had no ability to resist a Dom voice (except when finding their fated mate, but that still left them susceptible to their own Dom's voice) and could be made to do anything. Noah and Anthony were cute together, but for me, everything was tainted by the dystopia around them that was not perceived as such by anyone. I've upped my rating to two stars.

DNF 10%
The second chapter contains an extensive and graphic rape scene. I decided to DNF when I got extremely uncomfortable and checked ahead. I had nine more pages of graphic non-con to go in the second chapter. And I hadn't even gotten to the part where the MC was sold to that Dom! The content warnings did not inform me of this happening, and graphic non-con is not something readers should be blindsided with.
I am very disappointed, because that last line in the blurb made me really excited to read this.
Side note: the book also defines sub drop as "the antithesis of subspace", describing it as "a painful experience for a Sub and often a result of poor or lacking aftercare and praise from their Dom". I hope readers realize this is not the actual definition of sub drop.
4/5. Highlights may contain spoilers. Read at your own risk.
Content Warnings for book: Rape, parental abuse, captivity, sex without lube, domestic violence
Kink: D/s, praise kink, intercrural, impact play, pain play, biting, clothed sex, breath play, sex toys, neglect play
This is set in a biokink world where, similar to omegaverse, the secondary sex is Dominant, Switch, or Submissive. Healy’s work is also Boys’ Love inspired and had some of the quirks and tropes associated with BL.
Out the gate, the world is dystopian and has huge power imbalances (Doms have the ability to compel Submissives, the bioessentialism is strong in that neither can resist their urges or needs) that people have to contend with and have little to resist against it. I’m not the biggest fan of dystopias so my review may be skewed by that. There’s also on-page rape (not between MCs) which can be uncomfortable for some people, just as a general warning! It also seems Subs have slick? I’m not sure.
I don’t really expect the BDSM in biokink to be reflecting of reality - Healy touches on a definition of sub drop that blames it on the Dom for not providing aftercare, but that isn’t always true. Sometimes the Dom does just as they need to, but the rush of hormones and emotional release can cause a sub drop regardless. I did like the aftercare aspect between Noah and Anthony though, and how that was emphasized.
There’s a lot of internal monologue in this. It reminds me of the way I write with friends in roleplaying scenarios - which is fine for that, but could be tightened up and cut down for a novel. Sometimes it was repetitive and there were too many fluff words like “though” and “of course” when they weren’t necessary. There was also some odd choices describing genitalia and related such as “brushing my delicate and clenching place”.
Noah, is my favorite character. I love his little snaggletooth, pink hair, and the way he makes jokes and is puppy like. He helped Anthony despite the circumstances, knowing a stranger needed help. However the jump to them having sex so soon after meeting each other was a bit much considering the awful experiences Anthony had. Anthony himself didn’t really have too much of a personality besides ‘sad’, but he did open himself up more around Noah and develop more of a character voice.
My confusion with Anthony was the lack of passion for anything else. He was content cleaning and then waiting for Noah to come home. I wish that he had some sort of hobby or even job he wanted to do - painting, knitting, horseback riding, whatever. He was bad at what he did try and didn’t seem to pursue anything.
I liked that they were similar ages and Noah wasn’t super rich or had much power over Anthony (in the sense of wealth, etc), so it felt more balanced to me. Their kink play was fun though sometimes I found myself skimming sex scenes and would’ve liked a few less of them. This is more instalove because of the fated pair aspect, but I like that stuff so it didn’t bother me.
As for the plot of this book, beyond them getting together — it was entertaining drama for sure! Realistic? No. However, I didn’t really have a problem with how it all went down. I do think that the first 38% (where Noah comes in) is a bit gratuitous with the on-page noncon scenes and Anthony’s sadness. I wish this was cut down to maybe the first 10-15%. However, in the end, the characters got their HEA and that’s what really mattered to me.
This author has potential so I will read more books. If you like BL, you will like this also if the criticisms I have didn’t bother you or at least prepared you for it. Overall, I recommend it even if it’s not perfect.
I Want You to Own Me is an interesting novel, a sweet boys' love romance that's book-ended with some rather dark family drama, featuring both a heart-melting power-exchange dynamic and a heart-rending one. Personally, I think it works better because of the contrast, with the darker pitfalls of submission making us better appreciate the brighter heights of fated domination, but there's no question some scenes may be too much for some readers.
Since this is my first experience with Eve Healy, I just have to say something about her Dom/Sub universe. I absolutely adored the idea of a universe where people have primary and secondary genders, the first being masculine or feminine (which we're assigned at birth), and the second being dominant or submissive (which manifests on your 19th birthday). As someone who identifies as submissive first, and any gender/orientation second, this is absolutely wonderful! What makes it even more fun is how deeply biological those traits are, with Doms having almost magical powers of compulsion over Subs, and with subspace being something almost sacred.
Anyway, the story here is of Anthony, a young man whose family always assumed would be a Dom, but whose blood tests reveal is really a Sub. In the blink of an eye, his entire future is gone, his place in the family business erased, and his familial/social ties cut. He's thrown into a life of submission with only the bare minimum of training, and finds himself hating the life - at least until he's stolen away by a new Dom, one with whom he connects.
The darker power exchange still had appeal for me because, as much as it's cold and selfish, the way Anthony's body and mind react was exciting. The helpless intensity of those scenes spoke to me, and I wished he could find a way to enjoy it. The happier power exchange was softer, more subtle, lacking the overpowering domination that I found so exciting, but the romantic intimacy of it was lovely.
I thoroughly enjoyed I Want You to Own Me and am eagerly looking forward to more romances in the Dom/Sub universe.
This was a fun read. I enjoyed the writing and the sex scenes were pretty good and descriptive. The drawbacks were the lack of characterization, the hard-to-read time spent with Daniel, and the last quarter of the book dragging.
We don't really get a sense of who Anthony is before he finds out he's a Sub, gets pushed to Daniel and deals with that terrible situation, THEN getting too wrapped up in his rescuer to have a distinct personality. Noah didn't really have a personality to speak of either.
I struggled to keep motivated whilst reading this, the graphics are beautiful and usually I love stuff like this but it wasn’t very smooth sailing throughout which left me feeling a bit disappointed.
Anthony Griff has his whole life planned out for him since he's a Dom, right? Wrong. He is a Sub and Subs don't get the same treatment Doms do, which is the unfortunate realisation Anthony has to come to. He doesn't have time to ponder as he is immediately sold off to the highest bidder, Daniel. He is trained to serve his new Dom well by one of his father's Subs (which is where some noncon and dubcon comes in). When he is sent to his Dom, things don't start to look up. Fortunately, a pink-haired Dom breaks into his new home and Anthony, on a whim, demands for pink hair to steal him. Then their love story begins...
This was dom/sub universe but I used what I knew on omegaverse to understand this tbh. We start off with the noncon/dubcon unfortunately and it continues for a while as Anthony has to be "trained" and when he gets to his new owner, things don't change for the better. Initially, I thought Daniel (his new owner) would be the love interest and I was s0 close to dnfing. It does start off dark and makes you question if things are going to get better. Luckily I was patient enough and met Noah. Anthony and Noah slayed together frfr.
I loved how Noah was such a consent king. His personality isn't really the serious type and he was more of a smiley guy but as soon as consent was brought up, he switched up. He immediately set things straight with Anthony about his views on consent and considering Anthony's previous experiences with Doms, as a reader I was there for his energy.
Later in the book, Anthony resists a Dom glare and this gave me what i was looking for in Anthony as this was his act of defiance and his way of standing up and protecting himself. However, he ends up claiming that he doesn't mind waiting for Noah to come home and just waits for him at home. I felt like this was a problem for me because I wanted Anthony to want something for himself, like if he realised he likes doing something and he pursued that but he didn't. So his character never really connected with me because I felt that I didn't really know him and only knew the bad he went through. It left me without an attachment to the characters so i definitely feel like the book could've been longer so that I would develop more of a connection.
There were also some plot holes in here that i feel could've been solved had the book been longer or just world-building could've been clarified. For example, what was my man Noah's actual job? You have a man waiting for you at home but why are you leaving home? What are you doing outside? And Anthony wasn't affected by Doms before and was only affected after getting his results but he should've shown signs of being a Sub before. Why would the test change everything? It's almost like its suggesting that it was his mentality that was keeping him safe from the effect of Doms but even then its not clicking.
Overall, it's not necessarily bad it's a light read and it was something somewhat new to me
I was given this book by BooksGoSocial on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I Want You To Own Me explores a Dom/Sub universe in which people are assigned secondary sexes that determine their social (and sexual) dynamics. The story centers on Anthony Griff, the successor to Griff Industries and the son of two Doms, who learns that he is a Sub. Due to his status as a Sub, Anthony is unable to take over the business and is instead sold to a rich Dom, Daniel Abbott. Anthony's only wish is to have a positive relationship with a Dom, but he quickly realizes that is unlikely until he encounters Noah -- his abductor.
I absolutely love BL, so when I got the chance to read this book I was thrilled. Typically, I don’t enjoy the OmegaVerse-esque plotlines, but Eve Healy’s Dom/Sub social hierarchy was very intriguing and well written. That being said, I almost DNF’d it at 30% because of the excessive amount of graphic SA in the beginning. Although it makes sense to move the plot along and provide motivation for Anthony’s actions, I thought it was too much. In my opinion, the amount of SA is really off putting and didn’t motivate me to keep reading to Noah’s introduction. Be that as it may, I continued the book because I wanted to give it a fair shot and I am mostly glad I did because I loved Noah. When first introduced to Noah, I thought he was charming, kind, and adorable (THAT PINK HAIR!!). In my opinion, Noah was the best part of this book because not only did he treat Anthony with kindness and respect; he also asked for consent, providing Anthony with some sense of control, which he had previously lacked. While I enjoyed Noah, I didn’t particularly think the relationship between Anthony and Noah made sense. I thought their relationship was rushed. For example, Noah rescued Anthony and then later they were already having sex. Personally, I just felt there was no real connection between them besides sex. All in all, I thought the book had a good premise, but unfortunately fell short of its intent mark.
I've read an awful lot of manga that instead of the omegaverse is about a Dom/sub world where people have a secondary sex - Dominant, Submissive or Switch. And while most manga either don't appeal to me or take me a while to bond with the story, here with I Want You to Own Me it was love at first sight! Literally from the first page I was terribly intrigued by the story and never understood how I got to the end.
I want to clarify here that Dom/sub verse things are a bit different than real BDSM, so I advise you to take it as an alternate universe. Also pay attention to the trigger warning, because the story includes terrible parents, violence, breath play and other interesting things that are not for everyone. But if you like darker things, there's definitely a chance you'll like this book too.
And here, as with the Dominate Me series, the author's style is extremely light and pleasant to read. At first I was worried that not having Noah's point of view would hurt the story, but it didn't. Antony's point of view was presented in a very interesting and descriptive way. Through his eyes, I was able to get to know this universe and feel how unfair their world is to the subordinates. From the beginning, my heart ached for him and the things he had to go through to get to Noah.
Ah, Noah was wonderful. Go down in history as a knight in shining armor and save the day. I also definitely liked his description, which overlapped almost completely with the cover art *Again amazing cover!*
Set in a world where you are given the secondary identity of Dom or Sub, Anthony Griff's life is turned upside down when he finds out that despite both of his parents being Doms, he is identified as a Sub. This is seen as a disgrace to his family, and he finds out he is to be essentially given to a Dom in a power exchange arrangement his parents have made. He is taken in by a Dom he does not know and he begins to feel resigned that this is his future. Enter Noah - a man who broke into his apartment - and things change from there.
I have to say - the first 30% of this book did not make for the most comfortable reading. I found myself cringing because, and I don't mean to spoil, it doesn't feel consentual/fun for Anthony. Once we are introduced to another character, Noah, things get a lot better.
This is full-on BDSM erotica with some fantasy type elements (eg if you are a Sub, certain commands from a Dom will automatically illicit certain responses etc.). Overall a decent read if you are into that and want a quick MlM romance with rougher elements and graphic scenes. The characters I actually felt pretty connected to and I genuinely wanted them to succeed. Some of this was further (in terms of kink) than I would have anticipated so please do not read this if you are unfamiliar with the territory and don't want a nasty surprise!
I was provided with a complimentary copy of this novel by BooksGoSocial via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, which I leave voluntarily
Definitely a surprise for me and ho, such a good one! Started yesterday, finished today! I honestly was drawn to the story by the cover. I didn't even read the resume at first, but decided to give it a go and...WAS NOT DISSAPOINTED! I was a bit skeptical, because Anthony had to have sex (training without penetration of a dick, but it's still some sexual encounter for me) with a bunch of persons before he'll find his true love and I was feeling uneasy for him during the whole time. I really enjoy the DOM/SUB universe and I found EVERYTHING that I wanted in this book!! People are not talking enough about Subspace and it was described with such care and accuracy in this book that it actually made me shiver. My only problem (and the reason why my rating is not 5 stars) is that I really wanted Anthony to be more...energetic? The commands of a DOM are a rule that he have to follow on a basic instinct, he cannot do anything about it and I get it. But nothing prevent him from barking an argument when he's obligated to ''present'' himself. The DOM to who he was sold by his parents bitted him to blood, it was harsh, but he just went with it? It was a bit strange for me, I feel like Anthony could've had a bit more spirit and could've talk back at so many occasions. But overall, it was a really good read for me and I'm already looking into buying another book from his author.

"He treasured me. I desperately wanted him to feel treasured in return."
I really enjoyed this book. I read the three books of Eve Healy's Dominate me series and liked the second book best. I think this book holds a tie for me to which one I'd consider my favorite.
I love in omegaverse romances where a male appears to be either alpha or omega- either via physically or personality-wise- but instead presents as the opposite and has to come to terms with it. In this world, Anthony expects his secondary gender to be Dom just like his parents, but finds out he's a Sub instead. My heart broke for him and the abuse and abandonment he suffered. The mind-control-like abilities of Doms over Subs in this world was a unique touch, but painful to experience through Anthony's eyes with Daniel, the Dom his parents sold him off to. I absolutely loved Noah and the chemistry between him and Anthony. If this whole book had been Anthony's suffering with Daniel somehow turning into a romance by the end, I probably wouldn't have been able to read the whole thing- it would have depressed me too much. A great read, and I hope for more books in this world. 5 stars
This was my first time reading anything from this author and I actually really enjoyed this book. It was dark, and spicy what more could you need? I loved this and dom/subverse is one of my favorite genres. I really wish there were more stories like this. I thought the story was well written and the characters were just as good like I literally couldn't help but hate those crappy parents and especially Daniel he is just a snake. I liked that the characters weren't overly perfect. Noah and Anthony were so cute and sweet together. I really want more of them honestly. I felt so bad for Anthony at the start of this that it was kinda hard to read without getting mad about his situation and how he was treated. The smutt was detailed enough without being chessy or absurd. It was also evenly placed throughout the story as well. I thought the writing was decent. I felt like the pacing was good and everything was easy to follow. I didn't feel like anything was rushed at any point and thankfully it wasn't a slow burn either. I want to read the author's other works now. They just got themselves a new fan. I hope they come up with more Dom/subverse stuff in the future.
2☆ Thanks to NetGalley for an ecopy of this book. (My review is based off the ARC contents. Unsure if things were changed in final production.) Okay so this was a bit of a ride. I love me an alpha/omega type story. This reads a lot like various Mangas I have read before. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I am a huge fan of dark romances as well. I think the sticking point for me was that I wasn't expecting it to be as dark as it was. There are content warnings in the beginning of the book but I think they really downplay the content in the book. The MMC gets r@ped several times and the content warning only says dubious consent. Which it's not.... the Sub gender class get absolutely NO say in anything that happens to then because the Dom gender can impose their will on them. It's not dubious con if the MMC is actively hating and trying to rebel against the force that literally takes ALL agency away from him. I think if the CWs actually matched, I wouldn't have had much to say about it. Beyond that, the rest of the book was fine? The pacing was a bit wonky and the characters felt one dimensional.
Full disclosure, I requested this because of the cover thinking that it was manga or a graphic novel and didn’t read the description. I admit that I royally fucked up, and that I am the one who made the mistake here. This wasn’t for me; this is nothing that I would ever be interested in. So, one star is an accurate measure of my opinion and total moral opposition to the content, though I do feel slightly bad about accidentally coming into a very specific type of space and rating so lowly.
Basically, I advise people to read the synopsis, as well as other reviews that more comprehensively list the tags/triggers, as I had to dnf.
Aspects to be aware of: - non-con and dub-con - dubious age gaps - sexual-assault justifying magic(?) system (‘Doms’ can use words that compel ‘subs’ sexually, and they cannot physically disobey) - non-safe BDSM practices - a/b/o adjacent vibes - flippant use of words like ‘manic’ - dehumanisation in general - sex slavery vibes - fuck or die trope
The actual writing style is pretty average, but the content is something that you need to be extremely aware of.
I am giving this book 4 stars. It is a short book, only 175 pages. I did receive this ebook in a Goodreads giveaway, which was exciting, but all the opinions expressed in this review are my own. I like M/M romance, dom/sub, second genders, etc., so this romance was right up my alley. I would search TW as there is non-con and some abuse in this (though not by the main couple). There is some insta-love, but with the length of the novel, it is kind of hard not to have that unless it's a multi-book series, which this is not (as far as I know). I like insta-love, so this didn't bother me. There is a lot of sex in this, but I feel it was balanced well with plot, so I would not say it is pure smut. It has some kinkiness to it as well, which I enjoyed. All in all, this was a well written, short, erotic M/M romance that I read in about an hour or so, and it was enjoyable. I would read again. If you don't like any of the aforementioned tropes, then I would probably skip because they are in abundance, but if you do or are unsure, I would give this a try.
Rating: 3 leaves out of 5 Characters: 2.5/5 Cover: 5/5 Story: 2/5 Writing: 2.5/5 Genre: Romance Type: Ebook Worth?: If this is your thing go for it

Want to thank Netgalley and publishers for giving me the chance to read this book.
I am not sure how I would rate this given that I have learned I don't like the subject of this.... whole book. The whole Dom/Sub is fine if you still have free freaking will at the end of the day. This is just borderline rapey to me and I can't. Even though the two main characters are good to each other it is just the disgusting beginning that left me feeling... like I needed to soak in freaking acid.
As for the writing, I don't expect much... not with these type of books and I was proven right. They story was just tainted but it was so/so. I know I have another one of her books to read but I think I am just not going to give it a go since I am not liking her content.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ecopy of this book.
This book is a Sub/Dom universe that is reminiscent of the Omegaverse Universe. Your Sub/Dom sex is discovered at a certain age. Anthony who was born expected to be a Dom is born a Sub and has to deal with no longer having control of his body and changing the life he was supposed to have. Warning: Nonconsensual sex with 2 partners. The Sub/Dom universe had rules and to-the-point explanations. However, it seemed to put the world at a very one dimensional level and a pretty predictable ending. Even with these aspects I still found myself invested in these characters. By characters I mean Anthony and Noah, the connection we have is only to Anthony and then abruptly to Noah. No one else seemed to matter or care. I do wish more time was spent on the secondary characters. I was pleasantly surprised with this book. Right from the start I was hooked on knowing more and I could not put this book down until we hit the end and then everything felt a little rushed,
This light novel was of the erotic variety. In this world, most people have a second “sex” that rears around age 19. Most are either Dom or Sub. In the main character’s case, his parents are two prominent Dom’s who created life to ensure their heritage is passed on. However, when their son Anthony, turns out to be a sub, they sell, or parcel him off to a rich guy for business connections. After the diagnosis, Anthony’s dad’s Sub (who is a switch) has to initiate him so he is ready for the prominent businessman and knows the basics of being a sub and obeying orders. Anthony is taken to a fancy glass house where his new “owner” keeps him locked up and naked. Until the day the house is broken into, and Anthony begs the thief to take him away. And he does. I DNFed this story. The main reason, there is blood play, which I do not care for. I also do not care for the forceful nature of the world. Where you are commanded and cannot resist even if you want to. It was just a huge turn off. And all the biting to draw blood… hard line NO.
What do you do when your life turns upside-down? Make a new plan...or maybe just act on a whim. I found the concept of this book interesting, with the world and your place in it determined by whether you are a Dom or a sub. Anthony is fully expecting to be confirmed as a Dom. Instead, his results indicate sub. Almost immediately he becomes a second class citizen, unable to take over his family's business or go to his intended (Dom-only) college. He is all but disowned by his parents and sold off to the highest (Dom) bidder. His future looks dim, until rescue comes from an unexpected place. I found the plotline interesting, and I liked the relationship between Anthony and Noah. I do think the book description needs some trigger warnings for abuse (not between Noah and Anthony.) This as my first read from this author. I enjoyed it, and I would read more of her books.

What really throw me was that lack of content warnings. Not for the graphic sexual parts but just for the more triggering situations (emotional abuse, dubious consent). Some warning prior would have appreciated.
Overall, I found the premise of the book to be interesting. The idea of either being a Dom or a Sub and it can be seen in someone's bloodwork isn't something I have come across before. What I felt like was a plot hole was that Anthony wasn't effected by Doms until he found out that he was one. If he was a Sub and it's something that is written in DNA, you'd think that there were have been early signs.
Anthony was failed by all of the adults around him, especially his parents. 100% garbage people. When Anthony and Noah got together I was overcome with joy. They are so sweet and kind one another that it warmed my soul <3

The nicest thing I can say is that it is very well written problematic content. Dom/Sub dynamics have nothing to do with gender, so calling them a secondary gender that suddenly emerges when someone turns 19 is an awkward idea to wrap my head around.
That aside, the bedroom scenes are rather excellent once Anthony gets into a safe relationship with Noah. The plot outside of the sex scenes is a complete mess, but I guess no one would be happy with ONLY sex scenes. Or would they…?
Recommended for: fan fiction readers that enjoy fated pair tropes
The author’s content warning: kidnapping, unhealthy BDSM practices, dubious consent, violence, risky sexual behavior
I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Really disappointed in this one. It had such an interesting premise - a sort of take on the omegaverse with Dom/Subs instead of Alpha/Omega but it just fell flat.
The characters had zero personality. The Hero’s only traits were pink hair and FANG. I swear to god the fang is brought up every other paragraph, it drove me CRAZY. Honestly the only character I halfway liked was the “bad” guy we weren’t supposed to root for.
I think maybe some more world building and better fleshed out characters would have helped this book. Instead it just read like bad fanfiction (is it fanfiction?!)
In honesty, I didn't finish it because I wasn't feeling it as much. I did find it interesting about the topic of dom/sub being this huge hierarchy-like their universe. Maybe for it being my first time reading something like that, I wasn't as prepared but it never got me hooked. I felt bad for Anthony because the treatment he got from his parents after his results.
I think what threw me off was the age of Anthony's dom, I didn't expect it to be an age gap (especially how Anthony described him), I don't know if that put me in a slump but I think it drove me away even more from the story, again- personal preferences of mine.
Okay, I totally picked this up because of the cover, it was so pretty! This was a fun one! It was an easy and fast read, not taking long at all. The smut starts in Chapter 2 which I think is pretty quick (even for erotica). I wasn’t mad about it though. I enjoyed the main character learning what is safe and consensual and the dynamic played out by each of his sexual partners. Of course, his relationship with Noah is my favourite (expected considering it’s the Main Pairing) it's also the healthiest relationship Anothony has.
I won this book in a giveaway, and I am so happy that I did! I kept seeing Eve Healy in ads on Facebook, and her book covers drew me in. The concept of people being categorized as a sub or dom was super interesting, and the way the world worked in this book. This was a unique concept and something I hadn't read before. I marked it at 4.5 because I do think there was a little too much "fanged tooth" and "golden eyes," but overall, I enjoyed reading this book and would love to read more from Eve <3
Pretty good book. A few things irked me but those were mainly pet peeve kinds of things.
I absolutely loved the cover, which is what drew me to this author to begin with. The blurb intrigued me and as you can guess, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows to start and there’s quite a few squicky parts in the first few chapters but it gets better. The whole Dom/Sub dynamic being part of biology is not a new trope but was new to me as this was the first book I’ve read with it in it. It’s… interesting to say the least.
I’d recommend it if you like this kind of thing but read the sample to be sure.

While fairly well written (the style is pleasant), I might have read the blurb wrong and thought this book was more slow burn romance than erotica. Without giving too much away, I think it's better to warn people about the contents, and that the first third of the story is very much non-con (the dom/sub makes everything slightly dubious in my opinion). Perhaps a tad too graphic for my taste, I'm afraid. It reminded me of some Omegaverse webtoons, with probably a little less plot. If you're into smutty stuff, this is probably more for you than it was for me.
