The last thing Zandra needed on her way to buy apology ice cream for her sister was to be violently summoned to a magical world on the cusp of war…

Zandra is a sarcastic college graduate surviving in Atlanta, Georgia - with no job, no love life, no parents, and a sister who blames her for their wrecked lives. Life is already in the process of derailing her dreams when she finds herself ruthlessly dropped into a new world.

In the world of Domhan, your affinity with magic determines your Race; and Race is everything. It is status. It is treatment. It is your place in the world’s hierarchy.

And Racial tensions are ripping this world apart.

Her arrival sets off alarms, as magic not seen since Domhan was first created buzzes around her very being.

After a conflict in which she displays unusual abilities, the Magician Royalty claim that she’s fated to join the Race of Warriors.

Driven by her need to adapt to Domhan, Zandra will have to harness a Warrior’s combat magic so she may earn a place in their Race. But in doing so, Zandra will find herself consumed by this world as it takes all she has…

…the least of which may be her life.

What A Debut!

There is so much to get into so I’m going to jump right in. This book is phenomenal.

We start we getting to know Zandra. The challenges she is facing and just life. Just before she is thrown into the world of Domham. At first she wants to believe it’s a dream. But there is too much proving it is not.

New world. New people and lots of challenges. But Zandra is strong and fierce and she faces them head on. In Charlesburg, we meet Daniel. He starts to paint the picture of this world and how it came to be. But there are still so many unanswered questions. Then Warriors come. And things change quickly.

I love how detailed this author was. She really has created a whole world. The ability to paint out this descriptive and vivid world. Maps included. I’m just amazed. I couldn’t get through it fast enough.

This is part of a series and will leave on a cliffhanger. But it’s so much fun to read. Pick it up and I promise you won’t put it down until the end.

Happy reading ya’ll.

Can't wait for book 2!

This book was so well thought out and written. JB truly created an amazing new world that I felt immersed in. And I connected with Sandra on so many levels! A must read for fantasy lovers.

"The Summoning, at the Edge" is a captivating fantasy novel that transports readers into the enchanting world of Dohman. We follow Zandra, a woman from Earth, as she unexpectedly finds herself transported to this realm. In Dohman Zandra navigates a society divided among Mortals, magicians and warriors, all while embracing her surroundings with determination. The authors attention to detail in world building was immaculate. Action packed fight scenes had me fully absorbed in the narrative. While I thoroughly enjoyed Zandras character development, I did wish for opportunities to witness her growth amidst occasional time jumps. I believe those time jumps often kept me from creating close connections with the supporting characters as well. Besides that, "The Summoning at the Edge" is a great read. It takes readers on a journey, through a beautifully crafted fantasy realm. If you are looking for a quick fantasy read with amazing details, a relatable main character, with hints of romance, read this book!

Specific Spoilers/Side Notes:

* Still mad at David for letting Zandra get beat up
* I love Benjamin (I really wish there weren’t so many time skips so I could have seen them grow together more)
* I find it funny how Zandra hasn’t gone back to explore the elder ruins and maybe try to find a way back to earth? Like I know she’s satisfied in Dohman, but still
* Who the heck was that guy that was trying to get at her while she was locked up on magician territory?
* I don’t want her to cheat on Benjamin but at the same time, I just know the magician love interest is going to be top tier

I got about 30% into the book and I was just so bored like nothing was happening plot wise. But there were times during the book that it would suck me in but it wasn’t very often. I really liked the writing though and would definitely read whatever else this author puts out, I just felt that the plot in this was just a little too slow for my liking.
