All Mum's The Word Books can be read as Standalones.Do you think a person deserves forgiveness? Before lighting your torches or throwing sharp stones, You should know my side of the story. They called me evil, ruthless, sometimes the sparkled definition of a sociopath. I was, in fact, a terror to society, no denying that title. The pain becomes a lesson, a practice run. My body was too hostile for any saint to survive. I deserved what was coming and owed punishment for the crimes. My fire burned everyone around me. Now the blood that pumps through me is tamed to a simmer. They said Hell would be an inferno, but it's the shivering down my spine that keeps me sedated and humble.Benson wasn't part of the plan. A portion of me knew I didn't deserve the kindness and love. But he also was fighting betrayal, and within the storm, we found solitude. ♥ Within the chaos of corruption and constitution we discovered ourselves.

Book 4 in Meng's Mum's the Word Series. A great addition as we get to know more of the characters in this messed up family dynamic. This is Kalonie's story and from the beginning you are gripped by the lack of respect for self and others - but so much character growth for all the characters in play. I loved seeing the rise, fall and rise again (such a perfect way to describe real life - with ups and downs). Forgiveness not deserved but granted non the less. Her strength at the highest and lowest points is so well displayed. A well written, quick listen that is well narrated. While this is a short listen is packs a big punch! Great storyline and characters make this a great listen and has me eager for more in this series!

Miffed follows Kalonie, the twin of, Calhoun. At the start of this book, I didn’t like Kalonie. I would have gone as far as to say she was my least favorite character. However, Laikyn Meng, did an amazing job and making me care for her. Making me want the best for her. This book, I feel, has the most going on in the way of a plot; has the most character development, just overall one of the strongest books from this book series. I enjoyed how this book started, the events that unfold, and two I liked how it covers years of Kalonie's life, I like the change of locations, and there are new characters in this book. If you're looking for a read that has a lot of character development, gray character, and a story that covers over a span of years then you’ll want to give it a read.
the fourth book of this series was not much better than the first one. the chain of events is still not very clear, and the characters were difficult for me to relate with. again, the choice of narrator is strange to me - it was very hard to follow the change of characters' POV. I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
