I've read several books written by Laikyn Meng; she has done a great job at writing a good book; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the characters.

This is my third favorite book in this series it’s from the point of view Leonie and Dawson aka Maroon. I really enjoyed learning about each of these characters, seeing them interact with one another. Leonie is a character that feels very different from the other characters in this series. She’s smart, gets obsessed with stuff, and is the outcast in a way. The opening really hits hard and draws you into Leonie’s world. It made me want to learn more about her and her world. There’s a lot going on in the book. I like how something towards the end plays out. I like the development of Maroon (Dawson) plays out.
This one is a bit harder to talk about as I don’t want to give anything away but there’s a dash of college, prison, and so much more.
If you are looking for a crazy page-turner, family and so much drama then you’ll like this read!

Another addition to Meng's Mum's the Word series and is Leonie's story. A beautiful and tragic story about a gifted woman who understands so much, sometimes too much and the men in her life who she loves. He father first, and her teen crush/boyfriend who loves her but doesn't feel worthy. A beautiful tale of the roads life takes us and choices made.
Narration was good, a few places of audio duplication and I thought it could have been better with a dual narration.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

I hoped the fifth book will be the saving grace, but still, the characters were unrelatable, the story was messy and not interesting, and in general, this was a bad read for me.
this time the narration was even worse than the previous two stories I've heard - the narrator herself was worse and it felt as if even she doesn't like the story she's narrating.
moreover, there were many editing mistakes, which did not help the overall discontentment.
