The war of crowns is at an end and Bridgette and Duncan must face the future of England together. Will their family's legacy finally come to a happy end? Or is the final page of this story still yet to be seen?
Kieron Gillen and Dan Mora's epic tale of ancient secrets and legendary battles finally concludes in an immortal story sure to leave readers shaken!
"We want the best for our kids, Even if we're not the best at giving them it." Perfect final three issues, never going to recommend this series to anyone regardless.
Queen Rose came to the rescue, she is the only reason they won against dragon form Merlin.
Everyone forgot and asshole Bridgette didn't, i feel though the writer listened to the critics, me being one of them, a late comer but a critic of this series nonetheless, making everyone forget, specially Bridgette's family, who i kept saying over and over, remove them from the story, and you don't even have a story, they were the mother of all evil, they were the holders of deadly knowledge that no one should know. But he did listen and the ultimate solution was to make everyone forget.
Nimue seems to have paid the entire price by herself by staying in the underworld, i just hope she can at least get together with Galahad her son down there, and she kind of deserve this punishment anyway, she was the needle mover in this series. I really didn't like the way where she cared only about one son the entire series, completely disregarding the safety of her other son Duncan, putting him in the face of death time and time again with her actions, i feel this particular part of the story was a guy thing even if you don't have a brother, you were going to feel bad for the favoritism, Nimue was playing.
While Nimue and Bridgette, the tension, the horrible relationship between mother and daughter was primed the entire time to be a woman thing, where they would feel the most emotions reading, even if their relationship with their mom was the best thing in their lives.
Oh and btw, the art was way better than the story for me, but while being mad at the story i never stopped to give Dan Mora his dues, even though i was thinking last issue that Undead King Arthur looks like a Halloween pumpkin lantern with how his face lit up from the inside, i was wondering if it was possible to make him without the self illuminating feature, but aside from that, Dan Mora was the unsung hero of this series for me that got trampled by my annoyance of the lack of story and the bad writing.
So this series is finally over, i will read one volume of the manwha i am reading before maybe starting a new manga or comic series we will see. But this year is just looking better and better after finishing each book i have been struggling with since last year.
I think I read all 30 issues of this run via ComiXology Unlimited. I bought a few issues online, but the rest I just waited till they were available to read online free, as part of my membership. Loved this series! Who doesn't like a good King Arthur fable? Enjoyed the oddbeat plot, the weird set of characters and the art. All in all, an excellent series. Long Live King Arthur tales!
Awesome way to end the series I've Loved this since issue one and I'm so happy that I've been able to read all of it. The artwork and the story lines and the character development all just got better and better over time. It's a fascinating look at the Arthurian legend, that completely turns it on its head and gives you a wide variety of new characters and people to follow.
Finally finished this series. Read 26 - 30 after having shoved them to the bottom of a growing tbr comic stack. (Oops) So I'm a little removed from the story, but I recognized a few oh shit moments, a clever twist, and enjoyed an action packed ending. Amazing art and colors throughout. I really wish I hadn't let this sit for so long. This was a fun ride.
I am a fan of Joseph Campbell. I have read Le Morte D'Arthur. And listen to the Great Courses on King Arthur. This graphic novel does quite a good job of playing around with the legend. Likeable characters that are more than one dimensional.
Gillen has done (with fine artistic support) some great advances both in Arthurian lore and in "fairy tale" fantasy/horror. Lovely job, and I'm going to miss it showing up to delight me.
From the fantastic art, and color, and the way the story was told, I expected more from the ending of this series, so I was a bit disappointed. It felt like the last 5 issues kind of rushed along to the end, and they condensed too much of the story with too much left at stake.
Although I loved yhe art and the colors and the covers and the concept, the series was a bit too much for me. So I'm happy to see it ended and after all this time I'm pleased with the ending.
