Dealing with his past has never come easy to Derek, especially since he's too afraid of what people would think if they knew exactly what kind of monster he really is. But finding out who's setting him up could be harder than the team thinks. As long as Derek has lived, there's bound to be a long list of enemies.
Ever Chace has a lot on her plate. Confronted with the possibility that she is indeed losing her mind, Ever tries to push it aside as they deal with the ramifications of Derek's past. Every new relationship has teething problems, but learning to deal with a mate who's used to being a lone wolf has its own set of issues. Can the team figure out how to save Derek from a swift execution? And just how much strain will the revelations put on Derek and Ever's shiny new relationship?
Susan Harris is a writer from Cork in Ireland. An avid reader, she quickly grew to love books in the supernatural/fantasy genre. When she is not writing or reading, she loves music, oriental cultures, tattoos, anything Disney and psychology. If she wasn't a writer she would love to be a FBI profiler or a PA for Dave Grohl or Jared Leto.
I was hooked to this author's style of writing when I read Skin and Bones, and this story is no different. I loved the action and suspense that lurked at the turn of every page. This is by far my favorite so far. I love how the author takes further into the past of Derek and Ever's past and bring it forth more for us to get a glimpse into what was made them who they are. The love and hate in this story was so real and I was addicted from beginning to end. I am really curious where the next adventure in these stories will take us and to learn more about Ever and her past and powers. I loved how this story ended and I can't wait to read more!!
Crimson Tree Publishing provided me with a digital copy of the book for review purposes only. No remuneration was exchanged.
This is the second book in the Ever Chase chronicles which seriously reminds me of a paranormal Criminal Minds but with a dash of romance thrown in. Book 2 picks up with the cliffhanger story from the end of book 1 and the action just continues from there. An excellent mystery, with brilliant characters, this is definitely one of my favorite series at the moment. Paranormal fans will find a character they love (My personal favorite is Ricky) and this addictive page turner will hook you in.
An easy 5 stars from me and I can't wait for book 3!
Certainly caught and held my attention with twists and turns. Became a bit reputations about 80% in and I was ready for the conclusions. The griffins were interesting!

Can the team figure out how to save Derek from a swift execution? And just how much strain will the revelations put on Derek and Ever's shiny new relationship? Collateral Damage is the exciting sequel to Skin and Bones by Susan Harris. Amazon - Facebook - Goodreads Sara's Review The first book in the Ever Chace series, Skin and Bones was a great read, and I was eagerly waiting for the sequel. I recently finished reading book two – Collateral Damage, and I was not disappointed. Right away one of the things I want to mention is I find myself fascinated with the way Susan Harris handles multiple plot lines (the main plot in Collateral Damage involves the team trying to solve a murder mystery that Derek was framed for, and the team's objective of clearing his name), and I think she does a great job of developing them at a decent pace. Of course, there's the main plot in each book, but there are various sub-plots that I'm equally interested in seeing how they're going to be resolved. This is especially true with Ever's past, and the relationship between her and Derek. Every time I hear someone call Derek “broody” I can't help but think of Angel from the Buffy series.
Of course, Ever and Derek are what I would call the main characters, but I'm equally interested in what happens between Donnie and Caitlyn, the two vampires, along with Ricky, the warlock and Melanie. And Erika is a great character too. Ever's past remains a mystery to her at this point, and that's one of my favorite subplots. I can't wait to see where that ends up. So, my question now is, when is book 3 coming out? I definitely want to read it. My rating for Collateral Damage is 5/5 platypires. Picture

Find out in the epic finale of the best-selling CREATURA SERIES. Amazon - Facebook - Goodreads Sara's Review
I've read the first two books in the Creatura series, and now I've finished Marker of Hope, the series finale. From the beginning of the series, I've thought she was a great character, and one that I was interested in reading about to see how her story unfolded. There were times in this last book where I wanted to talk some sense in to her, and I think that's why Galilea, who was introduced in the second book, grew on me as a character. When Isis needed it, Galilea was there to serve as a very much needed voice of reason. And Eros? Let's just say that in some way, I think he redeemed himself in the way I saw him. Not going to say much more on that, other than the fact there were numerous times in the preceding books and at the beginning of Marker of Hope that I wanted to slap him.
As far as the book, I think there were some great lines of dialogue, and that was one of my favorite aspects of Marker of Hope. There were a couple of times when I laughed out loud. Now that I've had time to think about the book, there's one thing I picked up on. I felt the last 10% of the book or so felt a little rushed, but that was a minor thing. The most important part of was it showed how Isis changed from the first book, though the second, and where she ended up in the third. Overall, I enjoyed Marker of Hope. I'm sad that this is the conclusion to the series, because there were plot elements that I'd love to see unfold and developed further, but were only mentioned in dialogue. My rating is 5/5 platypires. Picture

Amazon - Facebook - Goodreads Sara's Review
The very first movie or tv show I saw that featured the idea of time travel was Back to the Future. Ever since then, I've been intrigued by the concept, and that was a major factor in wanting to read Extracted by Sherry Ficklin and Tyler Jolley. I'm glad I did. I was really drawn in to the story and the world building with the two rival factions, and the different mentality that their respective leaders had when it came to their style of leadership. I also grew to like a number of the secondary characters as well, including Stein, another Hollows, along with Ethan, a member of the Tesla Institute. By the end of book one, I really grew to like most of the others as well.
What also drew me into the story were the two main characters – Lex, who is a member of the Hollows, and Ember, part of the Tesla Institute. They were very well developed and over all were both strong characters that I found to be really interesting. Something else I'll add is that they're more than they appear at the start of the book, which I thought was a great way of utilizing yet another historical event. As far as other aspects of the book, I thought the dialogue was great, the plot was engaging, and I definitely want to read book two of The Lost Imperials series to see how this story continues to unfold. 5/5 platypires. Comments Review - Bad Bloods - November Snow 8/31/2016 Comments
Picture Fans of Red Queen and The Hunger Games Trilogy will love this new series by Shannon A. Thompson. When Daniel and Serena unite, their accidental relationship becomes the catalyst for a twelve-year war to continue. Exposing the twisted past of a corrupt city, Daniel, Serena, and everyone they know will come together to fight. But Serena has another battle. After a political rumor threatens their lives, Serena must leave her family and join the political front against her will. To survive apart, Daniel has to separate his love from his hatred and join forces with his worst memory to secure Vendona's war. But very few of them will survive to see the last day. Bad blood or human, a city will burn, snow will fall, and all will be united by catastrophic secrets and irrevocable tragedy. Amazon - Facebook - Goodreads Sara's Review I really enjoyed Bad Bloods: November Rain, but it's the sequel, Bad Bloods: November Snow where everything comes together on multiple levels. I think the reason I can say that is both Serena and Daniel became better developed as characters (through their background stories being told and their relationship deepening). And while I can't remember when it happened, there was a point when I was reading when I found I had become emotionally involved in what happened to them along with their respective Flocks (groups of bad bloods that live together for mutual aid and support). Not only that, I found I couldn't put my Kindle down because I needed to know what was going to happen to them and everyone else. What both books in this series did was make me realize was how messed up that society was. While I said the first book reminded me of X-Men, it's November Snow that reminded me a lot of The Hunger Games. Some of the elements of society are present in its governmental structure, but it was still a quite original read, and one I recommend for fans of both. My rating for the first book was 4/5 Platypires, but Bad Bloods: November Snow gets a 5/5 platypires. Picture
Comments Review - Bad Bloods - November Rain 7/31/2016 Comments
Picture Seventeen-year-old Serena isn’t human. She is a bad blood, and in the city of Vendona, bad bloods are executed. In the last moments before she faces imminent death, a prison guard aids her escape and sparks a revolt. Back on the streets determined to destroy her kind, Serena is spared by a fellow bad blood named Daniel. His past tragedies are as equally mysterious as her connection to them.
Unbeknownst to the two, this connection is the key to winning the election for bad bloods’ rights to be seen as human again. But Serena is the only one who can secure Vendona’s vote. Now, Daniel must unite with her before all hope is lost and bad bloods are eradicated, even if it means exposing secrets worse than death itself. United or not, a city will fight, rain will fall, and all will be threatened by star-crossed love and political corruption. Amazon - Facebook - Goodreads Sara's Review I'll admit this straight out, when I saw the title of this book, the song “November Rain” by Guns N' Roses came to mind more than a few times, and as I'm writing this review I'm listening to the song of the same name. Now that I've said that, this first book in a duology (I'm assuming it's a duology) as the blurb at the end of book one for book two - Bad Bloods: November Snow mentions that it's the conclusion to the series.
Bad Bloods: November Rain reads like a mix of X-Men and dystopian fiction. The government of the city of Vendona, as a whole, is very rigid, seeing these “bad bloods” as being a threat because of the powers they have, and actively rounded up for execution. One of the things I'm wondering is how these powers and abilities manifested in the first place. I don't recall the first book going into that, except briefly, but it is something I would love to have more details on.
The book's main characters are Serena and Daniel. Both of them are “bad bloods”, with Serena escaping eminent execution, which puts her on a path where she meets up with Daniel. The book is written from dual perspectives, so it gives a reader a chance to know the thoughts of each respective character, and instead of being romantic in nature, it's more along the lines of Daniel sees something in Serena, and it's a lot more action-based, if I can use that terminology. The events of the story take place over a span of about a week, which leads up to the sequel. The book itself was written well, and while I liked the characters, I found myself wishing for a little bit more character development. Maybe the short span of time in which events takes place played a part in that, but overall I still enjoyed the book. My rating is 4/5 platypires. Picture
Comments Skin and Bones Review 6/30/2016 Comments
Picture Teens are turning up dead, and it will take a special team to catch a killer. Derek Doyle has been a member of the Paranormal Investigations Team since the monsters revealed themselves to the world. Considering that he thinks a monster is needed to catch a monster, he's definitely in the right place. As a lone wolf not used to letting many people in, neither man nor beast was prepared for the effect consultant Dr. Ever Chace has on them. Growing up human in a world of supernatural creatures, Dr. Ever Chace has always felt a need to be special, to stand out. When asked to consult on a case where teens are being brutalized, she relishes the chance to make a difference and help stop a monster. But working alongside a wolf who she's so drawn to could be the beginning of something Ever might never have envisioned. Fate and Destiny have a funny way of creeping up on you when you least expect it. With a murderer on the loose, Ever and Derek will have to put their attraction to one another aside while the hunt continues. Easier said than done… right? Amazon - Facebook - Goodreads Sara's Review When I came to the end of Skin and Bones, I had two different emotions at the same time. I was happy that I know for sure there will be a sequel, which means more of Derek Doyle and Ever Chace, along with the other members of the team they're a part of. On the other hand, I'm left anxiously awaiting the sequel to find out what happens next since it does end on a bit of a cliff hanger. The main plotline in this first installment of the Ever Chace is resolved, while setting up the next book.
Now, as far as the characters, this is where Skin and Bones really shines in my mind. Derek, a werewolf, was a great male romantic lead. He's tough, and even this self-confessed vampire fan thought he was extremely well developed, and it was hard not to like him. That, in my mind, was one of the strengths of Skin and Bones. Ever Chace, as the female romantic ead, was another character that I grew to like almost from the moment she is introduced. It's not just those two. I was really interested to learn more about Caitlyn and Donnie, the two vampires on the Paranormal Investigations Team. The other members, Melanie, Ricky and Sarge were all characters I grew to like as well.
This is another book where society at large knows of the existence of vampires and other supernatural creatures, and the way that was set up reminded me a bit of a police procedural, in that they are a team and work together on investigations involving the supernatural community. I liked the take on it in this book, and that combined with strong likable characters earned this book a 5/5 Platypire rating.
Another excellent chapter in Derek and Ever's lives. Their bond is put to the test when someone from Derek's past very convincingly sets him up for murder. I liked how Derek trusted Melanie with important things concerning his case, and how we find out more about Caitlin's background. Ever, hurry up and admit you're not crazy already! From what little we see of Samhain, makes me not stand her at all. Ericka and Ricky are awesome friends (I love you, Ricky!!!). I can't wait to see what happens next, especially with Donny and Ricky.
Neville Morris (American werewolf, cartel boss) had beaten Derek Doyle (alpha wolf) mercifully & then locked him in a cage. Neville wanted to make Derek “D” the elite bodyguard. Derek had managed to hold his own for quite some time. He had killed 29 alpha males to date. Wolves mated for life & would never cheat on their mate. Captain Kelly read Derek his rights. He was under arrest for the murder of Jane Doe. Anna (M.E./witch) was going to attend to Derek’s injuries. Chloe Doyle (Derek’s niece, human) was confronting Ever Chace (Derek’s mate) about what the media was claiming he did. Melanie had been kidnapped & made into a vampire.
Dr. Patrick Stir was interviewing Ever. Agent Courtney Knight (griffin, truth-seeker) & Agent Rebecca “Beckie” Gober (griffin, truth-seeker) came to interrogate Derek. Chloe was there to represent him. Fionn has left P.I.T. & now is the pride leader. What were Agent Gober (f) & Agent Knight confronting Derek about? 1-day Arthur de Valera would be a threat. What did Derek need Melanie to do? Who is Christopher Gomez?

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written paranormal book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a large set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great paranormal movie, or better yet a mini TV. Not my cup of tea, but it wasn’t as exciting as I hoped so I will only rate it at 3/5 stars.

I reviewed Susan Harris' first Ever Chace Chronicle, Skin & Bones, for the Nerd Girl Official blog. Once I completed that book, I was so entranced, I immediately 1-clicked Collateral Damage, Ever Chace Chronicles Book 2.
Ever just found her mate, Derek, and now their world is turned upside down by a criminal charge against the innocent Werewolf, Derek.
Ms. Harris has continued with a great job of describing of her world, as well as giving her characters life. This is another excellent Supernatural Criminal Procedural. I await number 3 with baited breath.
This is only book 2 and I'm so deeply hooked. I cannot wait to read then next in line. This one had so much action and detail from the very first paragraph it was impossible to put down. I love how even though the series is the Ever Chance Chronicles each other character has very important, separate stories within each book we learn more and love them all.
I liked the book but it wasn't as enjoyable as the first book and I'm not sure I'll continue. There was a lack of build up between the two main characters. All they seemed focused on is wanting to 'mate' but their plans were always frustrated. The focus was so much on this that the story was lost. I don't plan to read more from this author.
Susan Harris is my new favourite author, I love the mix of supernatural and Norse mythology - excellent! I have fallen in love with all of the characters, and can barely wait to start book 3 to find out Donnie's fate - I truly hope it's positive.
Collateral Damage is even more intense, mysterious, and exciting than Skin & Bones, book 1 in The Ever Chase Chronicles. I loved getting to find out more about Derek's past, as well as Caitlyn and Donnie. Susan Harris's ability to include unique paranormal characters in her stories in what seems like an effortless way, surprises me even more in Collateral damage. Yes, werewolves and vampires may be the main characters, but she includes griffins and leprechauns, just to name a few.
The first two books in this serious have been building up to what I imagine are going to be several major events in the lives of these characters, in addition to the main mystery of each individual book. I can't wait to find out more in book 3!
I loved Skin and Bones, book 1, so much I immediately purchased book two and bumped it to the top of my TBR (reading) list. An excellent continuation of the plot, and I am really liking the secondary characters more, also. The drama with Ever confessing to herself what she believes she is seems too drawn out-- the girl's not an idiot, after all. But, this is my only complaint-- the editing seems better for this book also, which is good to see.
Got a bit annoying waiting for her to learn who she is. But the rest of the story/plot/characters is great. Loved learning more about the characters backgrounds
