Lucy As an omega, I have certain talents—like dripping money from my ladyparts. Selling slick-soaked panties is my way to freedom, safety, and independence. Until a high-testosterone alpha more or less accidentally knocks my bodyguards out. He says I owe him money, but, the way I see it, he owes me a couple of good growls. After all, I have quotas to meet. And if I can get this massive cage fighter to work with me? I’ll get the money for a new nest together in no time.
Tjor I make my living in the fighting pits of Taril, where crime runs high, but testosterone runs higher. Omegas don’t come to this part of the city. Except for the crazy one who keeps following me around, babbling something about a business proposition where she should be running from me. The alphas who want a piece of her are aggressive, uncontrolled, dangerous. And I’m the worst of them all.
Alien smut is probably my favorite genre but alien alpha-omega smut? 👀 I'm disgusting and only hope that my volunteer work at the local animal shelters will help save me at my final judgement.
I mean he has venom that makes you horny. 🥲 These authors aren't playing fair anymore. My eternal soul was never even given a chance.
This does standalone, but I personally recommend reading book 1 first, I think the author set the world up well in that book and some world building was made more clear in it than in this one. I'll admit that the blurb made me a little cautious with this read, wondering if I'd like Lucy (h) with her business selling slick-soaked panties. But she was a resourceful h who knew how to work being an omega without being bratty and she also had some lovely depth to her. I ended up loving her. Unlike the h of book 1, Lucy doesn't have the money or support for some of the planet's options for omegas, like being at an omega center. She's very focused on being independent anyway, because of some family baggage. Also unlike book 1, she ends up latching on to a dangerous alpha, Tjor (H), who knows barely anything about omegas. I loved this because so often in omegaverse, the alphas know more about being an omega than the omega themselves. Not the case here and on top of that, Lucy wasn't afraid to manipulate (gently) an alpha as needed. Tjor is a cage fighter and broker for suppressants and Lucy decides this combo makes him perfect as a business partner, despite his attempts to deny her, which fail spectacularly when Lucy's home is compromised and Tjor offers her a place to stay and caves in to her business demands. Written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama (although H is all kinds of alpha possessive and there is one point where h stokes it for reasons that help the H) and neither are virgins (but H has never been with an omega before).
These two were amazing together. Tjor has his own family baggage related to alphas and omegas that, along with having too high testosterone, has made him avoid omegas out of concern for their safety. He has a perception of himself as being too aggressive and too dangerous, but once he's around Lucy, he shows time and time again that he's actually the goodest alpha, very protective and caring. Lucy supports and reassures him. I don't think I can properly describe the emotions I felt while in Tjor's head and him realizing that he wasn't the monster he built himself up to be, esp after her heat. These two also had fun together and some scenes are really playful and others really sweet. Of course, along with their emotional connection, there's lots of omegaverse steam here - growls, purrs, knots (it's so unique what the author did with the knots in these books), fluids (lots of fluids in this series), nesting, mate bonds, heat, etc.
The main side character for this book is Tjor's alpha female friend who took him in and trained him to be a fighter when he ran away from home at a young age. She was a fun character to read with her focus on running the illegal fights but also how she cared about Tjor. There are also smaller side characters like one of Tjor's distributers and one of his opponents in the cage. The H from book 1 makes a small appearance and helps out. Lucy's friends with another omega, who had appeared in book 1, but even though she's mentioned, we don't see her unfortunately.
Of course, more is happening besides their relationship plot-wise. Lucy is saving up for a nest of her own and being with her also changes what Tjor wants. Some bumps occur in their business model and Tjor makes some decisions that made me want to shake him. The story does have some communication issues, but then they talk (bless them) and there's no third act breakup (bless the author). There's also another bump along the way that resulted in a great scene close to the end. But Lucy and Tjor weather everything together and end up in such a good place at the end of the book, such a good place. The ending made this a five star read for me, even if I still wanted more of an extended epilogue (always). There's still an epilogue and it brings their HEA to a great close and esp with briefly addressing Tjor's mom. I loved this book and it made me super happy. I can't wait to see what the third book brings and the H for that one is briefly introduced close to the end of this one.
SUMMARY Lucy is just trying to make enough money to be safe and secure. Of course, she does this by pushing illegal goods (“slick-soaked panties”) in a dangerous part of the city.
Tjor is a cage fighter with astronomically high testosterone levels. Usually, this marks an aggressive alpha unable to control themselves around omegas. Forever fearful that he’ll snap and end up like his father, Tjor stays away from all temptation, but all of that ends after he tries to protect a helpless omega.
Tjor and Lucy enter an agreement, both in hopes that Lucy will get enough money to buy a new den in a safe place. As the two spend more time together, Tjor fights against his nature and tries to distance himself from Lucy.
REVIEW Watching Tjor lose control was a treat, and I adored how blunt Lucy was. Their dynamic was simultaneously adorable and hilarious. Perhaps it’s a bit premature, but they’re my favorite pairing of the series (so far).
I do wish we had gotten to see Tjor reunite with his mother, but there was enough time spent on the storyline that it wasn’t left without closure.
The selling of the slick was a surprising hit for me. I really liked how that although Tjor got jealous that other alphas would be smelling “his omega,” he never made her stop. I was way too invested in their criminal enterprise, and the setup of it was PERFECT.
I can’t wait to reread this in the future.
POV dual / first person SPICE LEVEL 5 / 5 RATING 4.5 / 5
Ugh so good! I don’t know what exactly it is about these books that I’m eating up like candy but keep them coming! They’re so well written that even though it’s under 200 pages, I feels like a fully fleshed out novel. Loved it.
Giving 5 stars to an omegaverse book was not on my 2023 bingo card. However, staying true to my rating system, this does indeed warrant 5 stars. For what this book is, what I knew it was going into it, I thought it was fantastic. Character development was wonderful. Pace was amazing. Plot was juicy. And most importantly, the spice was DELICIOUS. Is it omegaverse, yes, but I can’t hold that against it when I knew that going in. 10/10 recommend
MF OV, dual POV and adorable. Lucy (h) is just awesome! I love her! That court room scene nearing the end was hilarious 😂👏 Low angst. These two MCs are perfect for each other 😍 Definitely read these books in order to understand the world better. Highly recommend this series. This is how one heavily leans into the alpha-omega dynamic when writing an OV and still makes it have heart👏 This book literally drips sex but it doesn't feel like there's a lack of deeper feelings underneath the dynamic even though it's such a short book.
Lucy was such an entrepreneur. As a human omega on an alien planet, selling slick soaked panties seems like a good idea? I loved how she pestered Tjor (an illegal cage fighter alpha who is considered dangerous because of his high testosterone levels, but whose growl makes her slick like nobody else) to become her business partner. Tjor was big and tough on the outside, and a purring cinnamon roll on the inside. My favourite type of MMC. 😍
The premise of this book was silly, but in the best way. Fun, sweet and hot. These two had me grinning like a fool.
(Incidentally, that’s the vibe they gave off too. Like, they’ll have hot sex in her nest, then grin at each other like fools.)
These two people are adorable. Both a little outside of the law, trying to cope in the best way they can using the crap tools their nature has given them.
This author tends to stress me out and I had to stop reading three times while I let my stress hormones chill out. Thankfully, things get resolved pretty quickly but I just don’t enjoy the stress.
Also, the writing is fabulous and the world building is great. But I kinda hate the world in which single people cannot get along safely by themselves. It sucks that, due to their natures, these two can only succeed together.
Also, I’m fully into the spreading their scents around their nest. Until I think about it and she describes them sleeping in a wet-with-cum nest. Ew. No thank you.
So, yes. This is a well written book with fun characters. But not sure how much I can take of the stress this author writes into her books.
Finally an omega that truly embraces her status. This woman did everything she needed to do to have a good life and she wasn’t ashamed of it. Really liked her and her witty and resourceful personality. The Mmc Tjor was such a marshmallow and protective/ possessive although he was dealing with pretty shady things himself. The fact that he was totally oblivious to alpha/omega and had to be thought by Lucy was endearing.
Even though miscommunication frustrates me to no end, I also love it so much and I LOVED it here because Ludwig doesn’t drag it out at all.
The heroine is brilliant. I love her sarcasm, determination and possessiveness. The MC was a favourite since last book because I just ADORE the lonely, grump!
Loved this so much and it was so much fun seeing Rhen briefly. I wish we had more links between these characters and the previous book.
Omg talk about panty soaking. This is the second book in the Alphas of Nasila series and dang is it steamy. Tjor is an amazing character. He has had many struggles in life which resulted in him running away at a young age. The only way to protect himself was to fight and boy can he do that. When a human female watches him fight he is distracted by her amazing scent, which unfortunately for him makes him lose his fight. Lucy an Omega who has struggled most of her life has quite an unorthodox way to get herself out of the hellhole she is living in. Because of her dynamic she uses it to her advantage. When she hears Tjor growl, which ultimately drenches her knickers her mission is complete, but when he goes down she makes a quick exit with her bodyguards. Tjor seeks revenge and goes after her. As smart as she is though she offers him a proposition one that will benefit them both and something that neither one can walk away from.
This is such an amazing series with amazing characters. V.K. Ludwig is a brilliant author. Her work just keeps getting better and better( if that's even possible)
I love this series!!! Soo good. MMC who feels like he could never care for an omega. A FMC whose got a get rich quick scheme that will work with his assistance!!! And the flames burned my kindle from there. Nests, knotting, heats, slick, and all the Omegaverse goodness you can handle alien style!!!
I couldn’t wait to dive into this book after reading the first one. I am SO HERE for this world and its characters! More alpha/omega deliciousness! Plenty more growling and tons of steamy, dirty-talking goodness.
I knew Tjor was going to be wonderful. *heart eyes* The bad boy, the cage fighter…yes. please.
Lucy is a strong heroine, doing what she’s gotta do to stay safe. She’s full of sass and takes no crap from anyone, especially Tjor. Their relationship starts as a business agreement. Their agreement? Breaking the law with some slick shenanigans. (see what I did there? lol) And they work so well together doing it! Watching their relationship go from business partners to can’t-keep-away-from-each-other to touch-her-and-die was a sexy AF thing. And also sweet - they brought out the best in each other. The banter was adorable and hilarious and their steamy scenes were through the roof HOT. I could not get enough of them.
Love this world, love these characters, love this author’s words!
This is my second book from this author and I can’t wait to read more, LOTS more.
This was what every shorter novel should be; a meaningful plot line that can be resolved in a short timeline, characters that have natural chemistry both physically and emotionally. This book wouldn’t make as much sense without reading the prior book, which provided most of the world building. This, of course, made it possible for the author to focus more fully on the plot line. This is one of my favorite uses of the omega dynamic; a strong FMC omega using her dynamic to her advantage. This was a strong FMC written right, with sass and self confidence but still kindness The MMC was legitimately terrified of his alpha dynamic, which made him a lot more likable. Both MCs had underprivileged backgrounds with questionable parents, which made their actions easy to understand.
Spice: 5/5 - this book was at least 50% spice
Triggers: assault, mention of r*pe, prize fighting
Definitely not my favorite type of MCs, but this was terribly sweet and heartwarming. Very low on the irritating miscommunication trope scale. Much less dark than it could have been. I loved it.
Ok this was actually both better and worse than expected.
The good: - I didn't hate the heroine... actually she was pretty ok, which is all I hope for these days with MF romance because usually the heroine makes me so crazy I can't stand it. She was reasonably clever and moderately emotionally aware so that was good. Her little business scheme was clever and pretty amusing actually. - I loved the male characters/alpha aliens, and the world had enough new/unique things going on that I was pretty interested. - I'm a real sucker for a blushing/not very experience male MC... he was so sweet but still a stud. Perfect. - it was free on KU
The bad: - too many body fluids after a while. It just got... a little much.
The Very bad: - I DO NOT like the "Testosterone is poison" line of thought/plot point that began to bother me more and more as the book went on. Yes, hormones are powerful things that need to be well balanced for individuals to be happy well functioning thriving members of society. BUT. I'm actually starting to see this become a more pervasive line of thought in our current modern society and THAT IS NOT GOOD FOR ANYONE. Do a quick google of the keywords Testosterone and Poison and see for yourself. Or don't, and spare yourself. Wild overcorrections of social dialogue rarely result in balanced reasonable ideas, and this whole testosterone-is-poison thing put me so on edge after about the 50% mark that I just... didn't want to read it any more honestly. It didn't help that I thought the story was basically over at 51% so... anyway. My 2c and all that.
Shelving note: This looks absurd... and therefore fabulous. And it's free on KU... what the heck why not
After a rough childhood, Lucy is selling slick panties to earn enough to buy a nest and take care of herself. Tjor is a high testosterone Alpha who lives on the fringes, fighting and dealing suppressants for a living. He's desperate to not repeat his father's mistakes and stays as far away from omegas as he can get. One night, he comes across Lucy being attacked and accidentally takes out her guards too. She sees a way to make money and he determined to insert herself into Tjor's life.
Okay, so this is my first book by VKL and I'm a fan. Had this author on my tbr for a while so I'm glad I finally got around to her. I loved the creative world-building and the unique omega/alpha dynamic. The book really stressed on how much the scars of childhood can shape people as adults. Both Lucy and Tjor had to work through their fears to be better partners to each other. Thank goodness this story didn't have the dreaded third act break up. Instead of running away like a stubborn child, Lucy gave thought and admitted Tjor was right about her trust issues. I like how Lucy was sassy and streetwise but not above admitting her feelings for Tjor. Tjor was such a giant, aggressive teddy-bear. Protective and jealous without being controlling. They were hilariously cute together and the sex scenes were ridiculously hot. The MMC from the first book made an appearance. I'm looking forward reading VKL's backlog.
All the Alphas on Nasila are in a league of their own, but I think Tjor might just be the leader of that league!
From the outside Tjor might seem like he would never be able to be brought down to his knees, whether that’s in the cage or by an omega. But from the first whiff he gets of little feisty Lucy, she just about accomplishes that feat. Tjor is fighter that does what he has to do to take care of himself as an unregistered alpha, by trying to stay of the radar as much as possible. Lucy is a beyond sassy omega that is determined to make it on her own, learning from a young age the only person she can depend on is herself.
Little do they realize that the weight of the world and the facade that both have had to carry for so long, that burden will be able to shared with each other. This story is filled with more emotion and heart than you might think. That definitely does not mean that the sexy times are not leaking of the pages because let me tell you, they are! Tjor might have never been with an omega before Lucy, but don’t let that fool you. He 100% knows how to bend that omega to his growl. If you loved Rhen and Elli’s story, then you NEED to read Tjor and Lucy’s!
This was another fun and smoking hot read for this series and I am loving how each has unfolded. In this story, we get two people that have hard pasts and are trying to make a better future for themselves. Lucy, an omega, is doing an illegal business to gather money for her own nest...and safety. Tjor, a cage fighter, wants more for himself but just can't get ahead due to circumstances beyond his control. These two meet and the fun really begins. Tjor was the perfect softy inside when caring for her and her feistiness was very entertaining. Their chemistry was off the charts and their interactions were full of humour. Of course, let's not forget the steam...this is a hot read so be fully prepared with a fan, a glass of something cool, and to read well past your bedtime. Lol!
You know what, this was just lovely and I was so invested. 5 stars for the vibes, the sweetness, and these lovely characters ✨🫶🏻
First off it’s an omegaverse so, say less. Second, you get a confident and strong FMC, love. THIRD, AN OBSESSED AND PROTECTIVE ALPHA. SOLD 😮💨
Thank goodness the author made this an easy read, everything was easy to understand which is beyond helpful with a book like this. I adored Tjor’s growth and journey. Lucy was just lovely and such a reassuring partner. The healthy argument towards the end was refreshing. I was beyond happy to not have a third act breakup.
So many sweet moments and overall I just had the best time reading this 💕
I loved this book! It was the perfect blend of sweet and caring, with the delicious hard and possessive moments filled with hormones.
This is the first omegaverse I read where the alpha doesn’t start off knowing how to care for an omega, but is eager to learn. It created some really sweet and fun moments, as well as gave the entire story a fresh and new feel! Which is a bit hard to find with a lot of omegaverse books.
Someone I follow read this and gave it a good review so I hopped into the middle of this series and didn’t regret it. At first I didn’t love the MFC but she grew on me. The MMC was adorable and hit that aspect I like most about “monster”romances - the dangerous monster who’s actually a marshmallow. Yeah, I’m a sap for that and don’t mind admitting it. The story was cute and the banter was enjoyable. The spice was spicy tho it didn’t really “do” it for me, but it didn’t bother me either.
“Be my good little omega, and I’ll put you on my knot for some post-coital apologies and make-up kisses, hmm?” -Tjor, from Knot for Nest by V.K. Ludwig
