G. Koi is the pen name for an established American author looking to write something a little different. Loves include danmei, BL, angst, drama, swords, magic, and boys kissing.
This is the second book but the couple portrait appears in the first one and time wise this story is set before Ren's song.
The set up is similar, two co-stars in a Chinese historic drama series meet, fall in love and are standing in front of a unclimbable mountain of problems. But as in Ren's Song, it's written in a way that you just want to take both guys, wrap them up securely and have them their HEA.
The author has a way to describe her characters, they show depth, there is first a friendship and it develops in a forbidden love.
You laugh, you cry and you cheer with them.
I don't know how real the set up of filming such a series is or the way actors have to behave, it sounds heartbreaking.
Falling Like Snow was the follow on from Ren’s Song which I loved. Now that I’ve read both books, I’ve developed a real appreciation for any same sex couple that fall in love in China 🇨🇳 and the laws they have to abide by. Especially actors that cannot be seen together after working on a movie together… The pain it can cause but Guo Zi & Zhu Fang were always going to find their true love with one another. I’m looking forward to reading the next book of Teng and Shen and I’ll try to be patient. G Koi is a new author to me, so I’ll definitely be following them in the future 😍📚🥰
