“No matter how much distance you try to put between us, I’ll always want you. That’s never going to change.” –Jayce
Falling for Jayce Savoy was never a part of Keesa’s plan. But after living in the same apartment building, becoming friends, and slipping into each other’s beds, there wasn’t much that could be done to stop it. From day one, he was for her, and she was for him. Well...until he wasn’t.
Jayce knew he never should’ve let Keesa walk out of his life without putting up a fight. Before she left town, she poured her heart out to him, and she wanted him to do the same. But instead of him telling her how he truly felt, he played it cool and made her believe that she wasn’t the one for him. From that moment on, everything between them changed. The bond they once shared was broken, and the division within their friend group became clear.
Three years later, Keesa’s back in town, and she’s living right across the hall. Jayce can’t help but believe that fate is giving them a second chance. But past hurts aren’t easy to get over. Especially when old habits return, and new habits are determined to keep making an appearance. Can Jayce convince Keesa to finally forgive him for stomping on her heart? Or will she decide that the pain still stings, and she can’t risk making the same mistake twice?
Jayce and Keesa's love story waa cute . friend to lovers is one of my favorite tropes. I wanted them to fall in love so bad but he did need to pay for fumbling their relationship previously. HEA looking forward to exploring the rest of A.C Taylor's catalog.
Although this couple was very annoying, I still enjoyed meeting them and experiencing their relationship woes. Jayce and Keesa had so much going on, along with the evil outliers laying in wait. The backstory with his mom and her sister added to the drama. Overall, the love story part was real nice, and the drama was necessary to make the point behind the scenes. A good read.. 4.85 stars.
This author has not written a book I have not enjoyed and I’ll add this one to the list. I love a good second chance romance where the couple comes back together and realizes the error of their ways and works to rectify what tore them apart. This book gsve me that and then some. Jayce needed to grow up and not let fear keep him from love and Keesa while guarded when they met back up, she eventually allowed for him to show her the love she had been wanting. These two were cute together and showed a lot of chemistry as both friends and lovers. I also enjoyed the secondary characters in Josiah and Lyric and it would be nice to see a book from these two. The mothers in this book were frustrating to say the least and I couldn’t help but give them a side eye. Then add on Jayce’s ex and I was ready to see her get the business cause misery loves company. And finally, I would love to see a redemption story for Keesa’s baby sis cause she had me concerned. All in all, I would recommend this book as it gives good vibes with the couple and a bit of drama and funniness from the other characters.
Almost everyone had issues in this book, I really didn't know how the story would end. Let start with the main characters Jayce and Keesa, their fear of love and getting hurt kept them from getting to the happy ending. Raina and Cyrus relationship was about controlling and manipulation as Raina and Keesa saw with their mom's second husband Bishop marriage. Josiah and Lyric need to get whatever going on with them out of their system soon. Jayce and Josiah's mom disappointed me when she was talking stuff about her son to Shy (the ex) while living in Jayce's house. The ice on the cake is when she gave the deposit money to her boyfriend Eli and slap the piss out of Jayce for beating Eli up. I couldn't blame him for feeling the way he did. The feeling of his mom stole money from him then defend the man by slap her son really made him understand that she didn't give a damn about him. Only Eli matter at that point.
I was tolerating Keesa up until Cyrus. She was very rude. I get she’s trying to be protective of her little sister. But calling this man a pedo and being very rude while he took the brunt of her rudeness. Calling him old, I was thinking Cyrus was in his 50/60’s by how dramatic it’s told. He’s only in his early thirties. Raina is more mature than Keesa, because let’s not forget she left because her young boyfriend wasn’t ready to be tied down yet. That’s very reasonable. It’s better than him cheating on her later, he was honest with her that he’s not ready which clearly means he still wanted to see what’s out there. He’s older, he has experience now and he’s ready. I don’t get how she’s upset with him. Grow up!
It was a great story. The author made me feel really connected to the characters like they were my friends without to much back story. Lyric was a trip. Shy and and Marlene were dead wrong. I loved Jayce. I'm still on the fence about Keesa's character. I liked the the way she loved her sister but I didnt like mouth in certain situations. Overall good first read from AC Taylor.
Second chance love stories can typically be filled drama due previous actions- and this was, but it was less about the their "new relationship" and more confidence and building themselves separately. The secondary characters NEED their own story asap! I laughed way too hard and some inappropriate moments, but it hilarious as I believe the author intended.
Keeps and maybe had sources outside of their relationship. Both families had some hard issues to deal with alone with their love issues. Both mothers had some relationships problems. People need to understand family issues, and how they affect their children's lives. I take my hat off to Jayce, because he was able to move alway from toxic issues. That takes a true man.
Jayce's Mom and Shy were both a mess! Loved Keesa and Lyric's friendship, they definitely had each others back. Jayce and Josiah's brother bond was good also. There was some characters in this book. I love this authors writing! Hope Lyric and Josiah have a story too!
I really enjoyed this book. I loved that they both were strong minded and kept to what they value. To often one partner is the one giving in to the others demand but not this couple which I really like. This my second book by author and can’t wait to read more. On another note I wish Keesa would have checked her sis more for believing a man over her.
It took me some time to get into this book. It was slow-moving at first, although the characters were hilarious. I almost gave up but pressed on, and I'm glad I did. The book wasn't great, but Josiah and Lyric kept it funny. Every girl needs a rider friend like Lyric.
I couldn’t really get into the story. I was waiting for a true climax. But there were some cute moments.
Jayce and Neesa just couldn’t get it together. She poured her heart out to him and he didn’t reciprocate. She loved and three years later she still loves him. Now he has a chance to show her he loved her too…he was just scared back then.
DNF. I just don't feel like reading about Jayce wanting Keesa back while he can't put boundaries on his ex gf turned roommate. Why is she his roommate despite how toxic they are and him telling her he doesn't want to be with her? Because Jayce can't put up boundaries!
I was sorely disappointed with this story! The characters were very immature! Kessa, Lyric, Shy, Raina all of them needed to grow up! Jayce and Josiah were a little better but only by a little! I only finished because I always finish what I start!
Jayce's mama is a piece of work! His ex knew she was a placeholder & tried to ruin destiny, but you can't mess with FATE! Jayce & Keesa are meant to be & everyone sees it! Josiah has been bitten by the love bug aka Lyric😁
This is the story or four best friends. The story came across a little immature. Sorry. Kind of like a college love story with a little spice. Not the best I have read by this author.
This book had me laughing out loud quite a bit because the antics were so hilarious.
Jayce and Keesa were cute, and I liked how straightforward they were with each other. I also liked how they were always ready to ride for not only each other but for their friends and family too.
My only issue with the story are all of the unfinished plies. There’s no closure on Josiah and lyric. There’s no closure on the mother. There’s no closure on Raina. I’m not sure if there is a sequel out but this story ended up being very disappointing.
This was a good read. Keesa was a tough cookie and didn’t hold her tongue. Jayce was clearly a weakness. Lyric was down for her friends and a real fire cracker.
This is a great second chance love story. Even miles a part, their feelings didn't diminish, only became more highlighted. I couldn't stand Jayce's mom or ex... very manipulative and they were one in the same. I love the friends group he had with Kess, her BFF, and his brother. They are a whole vibe together.
