When it comes to the cryptic Moon Blessed prophecy, our enemies have been fighting over its meaning—and its dark magic—for millennia.
Born of the union of darkness and light…
But through all their bitter skirmishes, there’s one teeny little detail the vile beasts keep forgetting:
The Moon Blessed witch herself.
Blessed is the babe who inherits the crown…
And after everything I’ve been through? This witch is done being forgotten. Done being manipulated. Done letting everyone else decide my fate.
Blessed is the blood that brings the world down…
It’s time to write my own destiny.
Time to show our enemies just how hard a dark-fae witch and four cursed gargoyles will fight to protect the only thing more powerful than all the prophecies in the realms…
Sarah Piper is a witchy, Tarot-card-slinging paranormal romance and urban fantasy author. Through her signature brew of dark magic, heart-pounding suspense, and steamy romance, Sarah promises a sexy, supernatural escape into a world where the magic is real, the monsters are sinfully hot, and the witches always get their magically-ever-afters.
Readers have dubbed her work “super sexy,” “imaginative and original,” “off-the-walls good,” and “delightfully wicked in the best ways,” a quote Sarah hopes will appear on her tombstone.
Originally from New York, Sarah now makes her home in northern Colorado with her husband (though that changes frequently) (the location, not the husband), where she spends her days sleeping like a vampire and her nights writing books, casting spells, gazing at the moon, playing with her ever-expanding collection of Tarot cards, binge-watching Supernatural (Team Dean!), and obsessing over the best way to brew a cup of tea.
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💜 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌍 Character development: 😠😚😁☺️😘 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Westlyn - she once thought she was a witch without any magic, she was promised to marry a man from a powerful mage family. Though when she found out he was a demon, everything in her life changed and she was saved by four gargoyles who have since helped her find out more about herself and the plot to use her to change the world.
The Heroes:Jude, Augustine, Rook, Drae - four men who were cursed by the dark fae king to become gargoyles, encased in stone during the day and using glamour by night to appear as human. They have been seeking to end their curse, and that of their brethren who are trapped in stone all the time. Though ending the curse may also be the end of them.
The Story: The past three books have been in a pretty standard format for a four book series. The first book was the introduction to the characters and the main conflict (the curse, and Westlyn’s wedding), The second book was building the relationship between the main characters and finding information regarding the main conflict, the third book started answering some of the questions that came from the first two books, and the fourth would be resolution and HEA.
I went into this hoping that resolution wouldn’t come quickly and there would be a lot of things going on in this story. I do hate it when the main conflict is resolved too soon, and the last half of the book is all sunshine and roses. I was happy to find out that though it looked like the final conflict between all the villains and our main characters was happening at the beginning of the book, it turned into more of a journey and got even more interesting than I expected.
This book was told in multiple points of view via dual narration, and was narrated by Vanessa Edwin, Shane East, Aaron Shedlock, and Aiden Snow. They all did a tremendous job with the narration, and I wouldn’t mind revisiting this series a few years down the line again. I just love Shane East and Aiden Snow and the other two were fantastic as well.
Technically, I rate this a 4.8. SO- the conclusion to the Claimed By Gargoyles series. This was pretty crazy. It was wonderful, as per usual. The only things that made it a 4.8 and not a 5 are: 1. the magic and explanations were rushed. 2. they were safe and then--surprise attack!-- and then safe.. and then-- surprise attack!--and so on. 3. I am all for getting hot and heavy with your gargoyle men, honey, but considering the circumstances... did you have to right then? I may or may not have shed some tiny tears. This series- compared to Blood and Midnight (yes, I'm going to keep bringing it up because it's so good!)- is more spice and less plot. The plot felt like little pit stops on the long road trip of spice. No complaints from me! Just giving a heads up if you need more story behind your spice. I usually do- but I have a thing for gargoyles so I'm biased. Which reminds me.. Who is your favorite gargoyle?! I cannot choose between Rook and Jude! My nerdy boy/naughty professor and my hopeless romantic/obsessive psycho! If you've made it this far-- hey, bestie! We should talk books together!
Cheers to Sarah Piper for giving us such an action packed, emotional ending to a brilliantly plotted out and rich series!!! Westlyn, Daddy Drae, Jude, Rook, and Augie have their work cut out for them in order to get to their elusive HEA. We meet new foes and friends along the way, while battling old enemies. There were some moments I definitely didn't see coming either. Don't worry, there is plenty of off the charts, knicker melting, steamy and spicy activities that West and her Gargoyles get up to. Westlyn also has some excruciating personal decisions to make in order to save herself, humanity, and her gargoyles. Which side of her nature will she choose? Will the curse over her gargoyles be broken? Get this one in your ears ASAP to find out!
This narrating cast is once again absolutely phenomenal. The emotion Shane East delivers as Drae got me right in the feels. But when he's Jude? OMG I fall more in love with that psycho every time I hear him. Aaron Shedlock really shines in this one as we see sides of Rook like never before. And who doesn't love that deep, warm, smooth as silk voice of Aiden Snow as Augie? Last, but definitely not least, Vanessa Edwin has such a stellar range from badass to sex kitten to emotionally vulnerable. She definitely had me tearing up in this one. Bravo to all!!!
Nothing gives me the serotonin boost that listening to Shane East perform Jude does. He knocks the performance out of the park and seems like he's having the time of his life. The unhinged delight in his performance sparks my joy.
This was the perfect last book with the perfect happily ever after. Something I love about Sarah Piper's writing is that the plots are complex but she never rushes the endings. She works her way through each aspect of the plot until you feel like you truly understand why everything worked out the way it did, but it never feels rushed or dragged out. To top it off, we get more Daddy Drae and spicy scenes determined to give you full body shivers and we even see Westlyn take on some serious Jude vibes.
Jude really saves this whole book for me. The story is entertaining sure, but the smut scenes just aren't doing it for me. Nothing gives me butterflies, nothing makes me LOVE these characters. I like them? But I'm more overall interested in the story and every time I get to the smut I'm like, uggggh you horn dogs get outta here WE HAVE THINGS TO DO. SECRETS TO DISCOVER. CLUES TO UNCOVER. Come on Scooby gang, let's hit it.
Which is a bit outta character for me. I am THE horn dog, with everything I read. Especially with why choose. What's better than a monster why choose romance? It's gotta be top three for me. But for some reason I'm not totally in love or smitten by them all together. Jude on the other hand? BABY BOY. The rest are hot, but that's all they are to me.
I was so excited for this final book in the Claimed by Gargoyles series and couldn’t have asked for a more fantastic finale!! I love how the journey for our lovely witch and her gargoyles came to an end, but boy will I miss them! These men are unpredictable, unique, a bit filthy and so much fun! And Westlyn is the kind of strong, spirited heroine that you can’t help but root for and admire. Once again, there are more surprising revelations, fierce enemies to face, a new land to discover and so much thrilling action that I didn’t want to stop listening. Their adventures in the Court of Wintermoon will leave you on the edge of your seat.
I’ve said many times how much I love Sarah Piper’s writing and that was confirmed here yet again. Her characters are multi-layered, the worlds she creates are incredible, the love scenes are extra spicy and there is plenty of witty banter along the way. And if that wasn’t enough, she has written one of the most beautiful declarations of love that I’ve ever heard. When Draegan finally bears his soul to West, my heart completely and utterly melted. There may have been a tear or two as well. You will love every minute of this wonderful conclusion to this amazing series!
The audiobook is the ideal way to experience this story because these talented narrators bring it all to life in the best possible way. Vanessa Edwin, Shane East, Aaron Shedlock and Aiden Snow make up this wonderful cast. Vanessa’s strong yet vulnerable portrayal of West leads this incredible performance. She’s completely perfect in every way. Shane East conveyed Drae’s commanding presence and then proceeded to both break my heart and bring me so much joy with his confession of love. He also made me laugh out loud when Jude burst on the scene (which didn’t happen until chapter 11 – was missing him and wondering when he would show up. lol). Aaron and Aiden round out this great cast and are awesome as the nerdy spymaster Rook and Augustine, the playboy with a talent for cooking. This was the perfect finale for these characters and I couldn’t love it more!
It’s not easy to deliver the ending to a much-anticipated series, but Sarah Piper definitely delivered with Wicked Ascending! This exciting conclusion to the mind-bending sexy-as-f__k epic story is everything I needed with very powerful performances across the board…just wow! I was very pleasantly surprised to be surprised on more than one occasion, so kudos to Sarah once again! In addition to the deliciously naughty encounters we now know to expect from Westlynn, Drae, Jude, Rook, and Augie this takes it a step further and delivers everything from my Christmas list and ties up all of the loose ends in very exciting ways! We are taken to new places with new experiences, new enemies, and new revelations that had me playing 1 more chapter from beginning to end. What an exhilaratingly seggsy roller coaster! This series is already a repeat listen, loved it!
Once again I was blown away by the performances in this series by all of the narrators. Just wow!! So many noteworthy moments, but I don’t want to spoil anything. Just hold on for exciting battles, emotional journeys, amazingly HAWT naughty gargoyle encounters, and everything in between. Shane East really shows his range with his performance of Draegon and Jude, such incredibly different characters with very different accents and personalities. Just wow!! Aaron Shedlock as Rook was a stroke of genius - He is such a smooth voice with excellent range and really brought Rook to life for me. Aiden Snow’s deep voice is the perfect fit for a gargoyle, but I just loved how he was able to bring Augie to life with all of his quirks…and all of his many talents. Vanessa Edwin really stretched her voice for us with the many sides of Westlynn, a character who grows so much throughout the story and really moves from vulnerable victim to bad-ass fierce witchy warrior with her amazing brilliance! I just love her sex-positive witchy self with such a wonderful performance to back it up. Phenomenal choice in narrators made this a favorite series!
The fourth and final book of the Claimed by Gargoyles series went out with a bang! This is probably my favorite series so far by Sarah Piper. West's story was such a captivating one that never allowed you to sit back from the edge of your seat. I loved seeing West's character progress from the beginning of this series until the final book. So much strength and power that only came once acceptance happened. Seeing West in her element and thriving was amazing. Everyone had always underestimated her, thinking her weak and easy to manipulate, and it was so thrilling to see it all backfire on them when West took charge of her own magic.
One of my favorite things about this book was the true show of devotion between West and her Gargoyles. So many heartbreaking moments that drove them forward to make sure everyone came out on the other side safely. We really saw the connections solidifying for everyone, including Drae, in this book. We've seen Drae give in physically, yes, but never emotionally. Those walls were built so high that I wasn't sure when we were going to see them come down, but we finally got to see that happen. There were some incredibly sweet and intimate moments with everyone, but the one with Drae really shone for me.
To me, the ending was perfect. The strength of love overpowered the temptation of a crown and power, the once thought underdogs got their happy endings, and the curse no longer prevented the men from living their lives to the fullest. The prophecy could be interpreted in so many different ways, but the only one who was able to fully confirm what the outcome would be was the person it was centered around. Blessed is the babe who inherits the crown.
Westlyn, Jude, Daddy Drae, Augie, and Rook are back! When all appears lost after Westlyn's shocking revelation at the end of book 3 (no spoilers), the plot twists and thickens even more.
What an ending! Just when you think you have things figured out, Sarah reminds you why she's such a talented writer. With multiple stories going on, I was on the edge of my seat listening to this story unfolding. There's so much more to tell before the wonderful ending. And so much heat between these 5, with some scenes being repeated--I dare you to listen to Daddy Drae and Westlyn only once. It's not enough. Jude holds my heart the tightest of the group--with good reason in this final book.
I loved how Westlyn grew from a timid, powerless witch, destined for a deadly marriage into a strong, confident, powerful goddess who dares anyone to underestimate her. Jude, Draegan, Augie, and Rook play a big part in her increase of confidence, but she had so much of it already inside her, she just needed the gargs to show her the way. They were all affected by Westlyn, and their trajectories and future were irrevocably changed because of her. Fate brought them together, and love kept them together.
Vanessa Edwin, Shane East, Aaron Shedlock, Aiden Snow were all so amazing w/their narration, and brought so much color into this tale.
Wow, it’s like this series saved up All the action for the final book. Literally they were pretty much swinging fists and claws the whole book, or they were practicing the horizontal tango, pretty much anywhere. As usual, there is a bit of nooky in almost every chapter. They always find time to come together it seems. lol. It broke my heart to read some of most beloved gargoyles were turned to stone, I’m just glad they were able to figure it out. This is the only book were they talked about defeating all the baddies and what they were going to do to achieve it. She finally put all the puzzle pieces together and was the cherry on top of all the fight scenes. Including breaking the curse. I am super curious though about all their other gargoyle friends that already turned to stone. Reading Rooks thoughts while he was in permanent stone form, broke me to think all their friends still being able to see and hear what’s around them. It was such a large part of the book and they were never mentioned again, their friends who turned to stone that they protect by buying up all the buildings they sit on and call them historical land marks. I would rate this 4.5 stars if I could as I think it deserves at least that but I think a few words would have sufficed knowing they weren’t suffering anymore. I’m glad I finished the series.
I had read the Witch’s Monsters series by this author and loved it so I knew going in I wasn’t going to be disappointed most likely.
The FMC is Westlyn, who’s a witch with no powers, supposedly, and she’s been sold into marriage by her father to pay off his debts. Luckily for West she’s saved by our 4 super possessive, protective and all the other adjectives you need gargoyles.
I really liked West. Her story was really sad but to see her growth as a character was really inspiring. I also really liked seeing her relationships build with each of our guys.
These guys are amazing. It’s a tie for me on who’s my favorite. I really thought it was Jude, because psychos are always my favorite. But Rook…😍 he’s the spymaster and resident genius with a hidden spicy side. He gave Jude a run for his money. Augustine is our flirt and his devotion to her was just swoonworthy. Then you have Draegan…the broody leader. I was on the fence about him on and off. He’s so protective of her and he had these moments but he kept himself at arm’s length constantly. When you finally got his story it was this big ah ha moment.
This series was full of plot twists and spice and funny moments. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good paranormal romance.
Honestly the first book offered a lot of promises but then two and three was just a deluge a filler and needless angst between the love interests. There wasn’t enough information, character development or plot development to make any reader happy.
By the fourth book I just wanted it over with. The twist wasn’t a twist anyone with a brain and idea of story development could have figured out who biodad was 🙄. But what was universal was fmc ineptness, naivety, and inability to weld or understand her magic. There was no learning, no becoming a bad*ss just fumbling through to a halfhearted conclusion. The mmc toted as mobsters and the big bad were just as ineffective with some dark bits.
There was a lot of just drivel dialogue internal and external or waxing about whatever struck whatever characters fancy that was boring and no lie I started skipping over out of sheer boredom.
Overall it was just underwhelming. The characters and story becoming forgettable by the ever end. This had great potential but it needs refinement, depth, and great characters to really reach new heights.
I guess if you are bored and need something to read this will do in a pinch but it wouldn’t be my first choice.
Author Sarah Piper has given her readers an epic finale to her fantastical romance. This final installment to the "Claimed by Gargoyle" series is action packed and this band of characters has long road to go to get their happy ending. Just when you think a character's story is over, they come back. There are new enemies as well as some new friends added along the way. Get ready for quite the ride.
Vanessa Edwin, Shane East, Aaron Shedlock, and Aiden Snow are back again as Westlyn and her gargoyle protectors Drae, Jude, Rook, and Auggie. These narrators put their all into their performances. Vanessa Edwin gives us such a range with her performance and is a total badass. Shane East will give you all the feels as Daddy Drae and turn it all around and give you a bone chilling performance as the psychotic Jude. Aiden Snow is as smooth as ever as Auggie. You can't go wrong with his grit and growl. Finally, Aaron Shedlock. He gave us a whole new side of Rook. He truly made me fall in love with the super nerd. Check out this audiobook for yourself to here this amazing cast bring such an epic conclusion to life.
This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster with all of the characters. Throughout this series everyone seriously underestimates Westlyn, even Westlyn herself. Varick, Eloise and even the Gargoyles are speechless when it all goes down. I really loved that she didn't need anyone to save her and she does whatever it takes to save her gargoyles. So many moments made me cry, especially with Rook. The special moments with each of them were so tender and sweet as well as smokin hot. Vanessa Edwin is just so damn perfect through this entire series and in this culmination of the entire story, she absolutely shines! I love how Sarah Piper writes these interesting characters and makes you love every one of them, even when they are as twisted as Jude. Her narrators: Vanessa, Shane, Aaron, and Aiden just take those amazing characters and the words Sarah wrote and they perform them so well that you become immersed in the story even more than simply reading it. I am not not ready to let Westlyn, Drae, Rook, Auggie and Jude go. Thankfully, I can just listen again and again!
Wicked Ascending was the thrilling, captivating, steamy and mystical ending of the Claimed by Gargoyles series. West and her gargoyle mates are on a fight against time to defeat the evil Fae King and find a way to break the gargoyle’s curse. This book picks up where book 3 ended in the cliffhanger. We finally get all the secrets and twisted truths revealed. Drae finally opens up to love again and finally lets West in. My absolutely fave was Jude! He was a a lovable psycho but he would do anything to protect West. I’m so glad West and her gargoyles found their happily ever after. The incredible Vanessa Edwin, Shane East, Aiden Snow and Aaron Shedlock are all captivating storytellers. They continue to be phenomenal at bringing this story to life. Shane as Dreagon and Jude was so seductive, dominant and oh em gee!! Growly Shane, yum! Aiden Snow’s performance as Auggie was wonderful, he was flirty and charming. Aaron Shedlock as Rook was perfect, loved his dry sense of humor and his nerdy persona.
This is the conclusion of the claimed by the gargoyle series and was so good. Sarah’s storytelling is compelling and had me on the edge of my seat and I loved the characters she created. I loved watching Westlyn strength grow throughout the series and you can’t help but falling in love with each of these gargoyles. I love how protective they are of Westlyn and of each other. I could not get enough of the story and I was both excited to see how the story played out and sad to see these characters go.
Vanessa Edwin, Shane East, Aaron Shedlock and Aiden Snow performances were nothing short of amazing. Vanessa showcases the strengths and emotions of Westlyn. Shane was absolutely brilliant as Drae and Jude, sometimes I even forgot that it was the same person playing both roles. Aaron as Rook was perfection, he did a great job hitting the emotions and tugging on your heartstrings. Aiden as Auggie was great and this is one of my favorite characters he has voiced.
Wicked Ascending is the fourth and final book in the Claimed by Gargoyles series and concludes Westlyn and the Gargoyles story with them going up against the person who has been manipulating circumstances to suit himself as well as trying to find a way to finally break the curse that was cast upon the Gargoyles.
This book really brought the story to an epic conclusion and I found it was quite an emotional read as well. I loved the story. The twists and turns in the story were brilliant and I loved the fact that that it kept me guessing as to what would happen in the end. I loved the characters and how they all finally got on the same page at last. I also loved how Westlyn seemed to start mimicking traits from each of them which also drew them closer together.
Overall, this was a brilliant conclusion to the series and I found myself very satisfied by its conclusion. I would recommend giving it a read.
This guy is something else. No wonder Draegan led an army against him. I've known him all of fifteen minutes and I'm already imagining how satisfying it would feel to shove a grenade launcher up his dark-fae ass.
"Wicked Ascending" is the final book in the "Claimed by Gargoyles" series, and it was everything I hoped for and more. Some parts of this book were to be expected, but the author still managed to surprise me a few times along the way. This book is filled with action and steam, love and heartbreak, and I loved every part of it.
I'll always keep a soft spot for Jude; he is my favorite kind of psycho and even though I found a way to connect to all harem members along the way, his character was love at first sight. I absolutely loved this series, and I can't wait to see what this author will come up with next!
This series has had me in tears sobbing, laughing out loud, shocked, frustrated and completely and utterly in love.
I love West, I love the guys, I love their relationship, I love how far West has come since book 1, I love that we got to watch her grow as a witch and as a woman. The love her Gargoyles have for her is indescribable. Its the type of love most only wish for and it feels like a privilege to witness it. But it's only a book I hear you say. Firstly, wash your mouth out! Sarah's books aren't merely books, they're doorways into different worlds, different lives that we get to be a part of for a short while.
If you this series leaves you desperate for more Gargoyles and you haven't read the Witch's Monsters series, then you need to ASAP!
Series review: Not my series. I picked it up because I loved Hudson the gargoyle in Piper's Witch's Monsters series, but the world and gargoyles here are different enough that I didn't like them as much. These gargoyles are much higher on the monster scale than Hudson is. The series is overall a lot more violent, which isn't my thing and likewise I'm not a big Daddy kink person so that thread didn't work for me. I didn't love the heroine - she's not bad but the characterization often felt flimsy. She's sassy but also was meek her whole life? Idk it didn't track for me, and I didn't love how young she felt. It's solidly written otherwise, however, so if you're into more of the monster vibe it may be a better fit for you.
Absolutely amazing finale to one of the most exciting paranormal romance series of the year! Earth shattering heart stopping plot twists continue to the very end. Westlyn does not disappoint. Just when you think all is lost, she rises from the ashes like a glorious phoenix. Vanessa Edwin's best performance yet. Her gargoyles go to hell and back for her and the journey is revealing especially for Rook and Jude. Daddy Drae! I knew you had it in you ! Shane,Aaron and Aiden have outdone themselves with these emotional performances. Im sad to let them go but this quartet will always be one of my favorite re-listens. Cant wait to go on another adventure with Sarah Piper !

Final book in Gargoyle series by Sarah Piper. I finished this book last week but it’s taken me days to get over this final and last book in series. I’m satisfied but gutted all at once. As always Sarah Piper has written an amazing series but also picked the most amazing narrators to bring this amazing book alive. I won’t go into details and spoil it for anyone but even though I hate cliffhangers with a passion Sarah piper is a very rare writer that keeps me hooked and coming back for more with every series she writes.
I really enjoyed this series . I just honestly kept going hoping they would stop having male voice actors do the women part. This is the first series I’ve ever listened to and i enjoyed their voices but i had to skip all the good smut parts when it got to the girls voice they were all honestly terrible and not realistic. Or sounded like a man trying to pretend, badily to me a woman. They should cut that out or work on their draft so they can do a believable female voice. it would be. a 5 otherwise

I only kept reading to find out what happened to the gargoyles in the end, including those already captured in stone. The 4 main gargoyles get to stay immortal gargoyles with their immortal witch but they aren't forced to turn to stone during daytime anymore. The other gargoyles? "To the men who fought bravely by my side during the original dark-fae wars, their souls finally set free by the shattering of our curse, the stone gargoyles of Manhattan remaining as memorials to their great sacrifice."
