Everyone at Ryder High knows what it means to have a teal envelope taped to their locker on the first day of the month.
Skye Turner came close to having one, but considering she and her boyfriend, Andrew Del Marco, had been dating for a week already, she couldn’t take it.
So she decides cheat the Secret Admirer system and divert the teal envelope to someone else.
Emilia Rosemary is just like every other girl when she gets her envelope— shocked.
But the envelope isn’t from a real Secret Admirer. It’s from Skye, posing as Emilia’s crush, Chase McNeill.
Skye and her friends develop a plan to have both Emilia and Chase surprised with the big reveal at the Homecoming dance.
But when Chase learns the truth, will the plans be ruined?
Will Emilia be upset when she finds out her friends deceived her?
Danielle Keil grew up and spent the majority of her life in the Chicagoland area. A recent transplant, she is enjoying the Mississippi life, especially the pool in her backyard. Danielle is happily married for over 10 years, and has two young children, a daughter and a son, who are exact replicas of her and her husband.
Danielle's love language is gifts, her Ennegram is a 9w1, and she loves everything purple. The way to her heart is through coffee, chocolate and tacos (extra guac).
While I didn't enjoy this book as much as the other ones, I liked that the writing style changed a bit from the rest of the series In this book, we will see Skye's POV (who was Mackinnon's friend from the first book) when she realizes that her boyfriend Andrew got the invitation to be the secret admirer, and since he is in a relationship that won't do, so Skye comes up with a plan, to forward this to her friend Emelia who had a crush on her friend Chase since forever so Skye,Andrew,Spencer and Mya pretend to be Chase(the secret admirer) to get those two love birds together the book was heavely focused on friendship and scheming more than tbe romance which made me miss the other books more, I liked the overall atmosphere but that last scene took my breath away, anything with Peter Pan is a winner to me .. heading to the newest book now
I will first start off by saying that when I heard this book was going to be different from the rest I was a little nervous. But I absolutely loved the twist!!
Having the story from Skye’s point of view was absolutely perfect. You definitely got a closer look into how the envelopes and clues worked which made the story more enjoyable. It was so cute seeing the friends rally together to bring Emilia and Chase their happy ending…and having Peter Pan mixed in made so much sweeter.
Wow, nothing like a twist to make a great series even better. I loved this book. Each book in the Love Notes Series has something special to appeal to readers and Dear Emilia did not disappoint. I can't wait to see what Danielle Keil has in store for November's book. If you have not read The Love Notes Series I highly recommend the series.
What a book this turned out to be! These two characters may not be perfect, but it’s a beautiful thing to know your friend so well and be able to trust the next step forward with them. This month's teal envelope had a heck of a twist that was super risky but oh so clever. I can't say anything else or it will ruin the plot twist. This series of books are quick reads that always leave a smile on my face.
Love Notes series: To enjoy this series you just have to accept the premise that there is a secret society which organizes this secret admirer game and that most of the teenage boys want to participate and that most of the girls wish to receive a letter. Especially for the boys I find that hard to believe, but like I said - just accept it and move on. You also have to accept that there are a lot of boys with a crush on a girl and they just wait for their turn to be the secret admirer instead of making a move on their own. Considering they can only participate in their junior and senior year and the game sometimes pauses for summer break, there are at maximum 24 months and A LOT more boys who want the spot. So that’s another really unrealistic part, but the books just don’t make sense if you don’t accept this. I was quite annoyed with this - in some books more than others - but I tried to forget that it’s kind of a stupid concept to pine silently away for your crush, to wait up to two years for your turn and never do something on your own. If you can look past that, the series is kinda cute. Some books are very enjoyable, others I really really didn’t like. But for all of them - I repeat myself - you HAVE to accept the premise.

I feel a bit conflicted about this book because I think it was a nice idea to write from the perspective of the person behind the clues and I liked seeing Skye and Spencer again, but because of this we don’t really see how Emilia feels about all this and we don’t get to know her as well as the main characters of the other books of the series.
But my main issue was the pretending. At one point the whole friend group is in on the scheme and they don’t know for sure about Emilia’s and Chase’s feelings for each other, they just suspect…
So even if they knew I wouldn’t be too happy, because in my opinion they are in some way leading Emilia on (because Chase is not the one who put thought and effort into the game). But they didn’t know and they are gambling with the feelings of two of their best friends. This could have seriously backfired…
Chase turns things around in the end and I liked him and Emilia as a couple, but for me the behaviour of Skye and the others could have seriously injured their friendship. So while I somewhat enjoyed the story, it didn’t really feel good reading.
Dear Emilia, our sweet girl with her nose in a book and pencil in her hand, for someone so smart yet so not willing to open up and let your feelings be known don't worry we got you Love Us....... Emilia was the brains of Ryder High too smart for her own good but wanted to have someone who made her just as happy as the others around her. Well, our girl is in luck when she finds the famous teal envelope on her locker will she be able to find her admirer before the month is up or will she be embarrassed when it comes out who is behind the envelope. This proves just how far a friend is willing to go to make their friend a happily ever after. But the journey will surprise you, how it ends will have you swooning, and always remember the follow the second star to the left and straight till morning, will Wendy and Peter get their happy ever after? after all you just need faith trust and can't forget the pixie dust.
I didn’t really like this one. I think because it’s not told from Amelia’s point of view you don’t get the same excitement as the other books.
So Skye’s boyfriend is the chosen boy that month but he can’t do it because him and Skye have just started dating so she says they should set up Amelia and Chase as they clearly like each other.
We don’t really get to read any of the letters/clues and there not very personal as there not coming from Chase.
Eventually they have to tell Chase what they’ve done as he genuinely upset that someone is trying to take Amelia from him. Once he knows he changes the last clue and the big finale but it wasn’t as enjoyable to read someone else watching the girl who got chosen instead of hearing that girls thoughts
This one was a bit different in terms that it started off with friends trying to play matchmaker but then when one of the parties involved finds out what was planned. He went over and beyond to make it his own.
It was a cute read but rather boring after reading the creativity put in by others. Also I didn’t like the fact that author only referenced other people and their boyfriends as that and not by name even though their stories were released first. It was rather awkward.
Was a cute take for the teal envelope. I did feel more like the story was more focused on Skye & Andrew & how there relationship was blossoming . I do hope we get a cameo of Chase & Emilia so we can see how they are progressing. The homecoming theme was a good idea .
This book is very good but not my favorite but I will still continue to you read the series and read books by this author if she chooses to write More books with The Secret Person aspect
I love these books, they are turning into a guilty pleasure of mine. I love when I find a new one on my kindle! This one was different from the rest and I appreciated that, but the ending was weak. There should have been more feelings and emotions on what was done and how it was dealt with with!
Disappointing. Other book in series was much better. Story was told from an outside perspective that really took away from connecting with the main subject and the charm of the previous book.
