Given his name I suspect Patrick Lasalle's 5 star rating might be a touched biased.
My 5 star rating isn't! I'm a keen cook, and -- much though admire Rick Stein -- this is quite simply the best fish cookery book I know. It covers everything from types of fish; cooking methods and recipes; when they're in season; plus a really comprehensive guide to sauces and relishes. I have never come across a fish cookery book quite like it. It's also quite amusingly written. However, no photos or colour plates. (But do you really need them?)
I bought my copy in Johannesburg in 1978 and have been using it ever since. Still my 'go-to' fish cookbook.
