Even barbarian warriors cannot face the wrath of a dragon.
The quest of the Dragonskull has taken Gareth Arban and his friends to the land of the Norvangir, a people unknown to the men of Andomhaim. Proud and fierce, the Norvangir are both loyal friends and ferocious enemies.
Yet an ancient curse haunts the Norvangir.
For the shadow of the Dragonskull lies upon their land, a shadow that might kill Gareth and his companions...
Standing over six feet tall, USA Today bestselling author Jonathan Moeller has the piercing blue eyes of a Conan of Cimmeria, the bronze-colored hair of a Visigothic warrior-king, and the stern visage of a captain of men, none of which are useful in his career as a computer repairman, alas.
He has written the DEMONSOULED series of sword-and-sorcery novels, and continues to write THE GHOSTS sequence about assassin and spy Caina Amalas, the COMPUTER BEGINNER'S GUIDE series of computer books, and numerous other works. His books have sold over one million copies worldwide.
As Gareth and his friends continued on their journey to north in search of the Dragonskull; they visit new lands. Meeting new friends as well as for new and old enemies. Not to mention with them enemies come battles some of which might end their quest of the Dragonskull but all is not totally lost as the meet some great and powerful allies and attempt to forge a great weapon of power. But no matter if the do in fact succeed they will still have to continue on their long quest til the end or they are killed.
This book holds together well, and I enjoyed it more than the previous ones. I finally got the back story I’d been missing about the religions - I hadn’t read the previous series and it had been distracting me. It’s odd that everyone ignores significant prophesy, or that after so many years nobody had attacked a dragon in the obvious way, but both seemed to be designed to make our average thinker hero seem brilliant. And odd that they assumed they’d succeeded at something — no spoilers even though it was obvious to me what was going to happen. I was tempted to give 4 stars which to me reflects a much better read than my typical read, but these flaws held me back.
Garth and his friends travel out of the lands of Andohaim to a land ruled by descendants of the Vikings who settled in the north. Garth and his comrades meet Mythomaria the high eleven priest and find the second waystone. My Thomas is is cursed from the Dragon skull to turn into a dragon and after Garth helps the Norvangarir to defeat the wizard they continue on their path to the land of the xotami.
Book 5 was a fun read and had a few errors. The bunch are looking for the remaining stones to guide them to the dragon skull. They encounter a high elf who's lost her mind and tries to stop them in continuing their journey. They meet with others to help them drive off the dragon near the tower. After a time of back and forth they continue their journey to the 3rd stone in the lands of the Tatami people in hopes of finding the skull and destroying it.
Jonathan is my favorite author! I love that our heros children are now grown up and keeping the darkness away. I feel vad for the high elf and hope once the dragon skull is destroyed she recovers and can heal.
I enjoy all Jon's S&S books. They always tell an enjoyable and advancing story. Having read them all however, there us little new and the stories are predictable yet hold my interest nonetheless.
One of my favourite authors. Never disappoints. Son of a great warrior making his own history. Great new races of people introduced into this story. Can't wait till next year.
Gareth, Crake, Jerome, Philip, Dietmar and Telemachus travel north, meet new friends, foes and loves. Intriguing development of the story when they confront an ancient sorceress.
This series becomes more enjoyable with each book, as more of the world is revealed and we get to know the characters that little bit better. The pace at best is middling as this book just progresses the plot along as the companions travel towards the second way stone, which could make it sound not all that appealing, but that is far from the truth. It is in fact a very enjoyable and engaging story that builds on everything that has gone before, adding even more depth and personality to the characters and expanding the world in which these events take place, which in this book includes introducing another group of humans who originated from a later time period and geographical location.
