Mixed feelings. I did enjoy this
I really liked the concept, loved the cover and the kinks. I wish the plot didn’t disappear at 30% and reappear around 90%. I didn’t like how the MCs didn’t meet face-to-face until 50% and that she never even saw his face until 93%. All this made me feel very disconnected from their relationship and their growing affection(?). I really only felt their attraction and lust, and even then it was a little hard to believe because Rayven (FMC) knew practically nothing about Wolfe (MMC) until the very end.
The kinks were fun and sexy and primal. Very enjoyable. Yet I needed the build-up between the characters for me to really get into these scenes which require an immense amount of trust. We were told they’ve been talking a lot (only through texts, mind you) but we only saw brief snippets of their conversations.
There was a part pretty early on when Rayven was talking to her friend Shiloh about liking her CNC fantasies and other kinks and said this:
Yikes. I understand that some kinks have stigmas and outside judgement around it but Jesus. I wished she owned it from the start. She had nothing to be ashamed of ever. But the fact that she said she didn’t have a “good reason” for liking CNC because she wasn’t r*ped or assaulted? Holy fuck. There’s a lot to unpack.
I actively try to avoid books that specifically have CNC play where the MC was r*ped because it’s become a thing now to believe survivors use this to cope? Or are the only people that have a claim to it? Idk but I want it to stop. It’s so messed up.
Besides that, it was an interesting book and I want to check out more by Bex Dawn.

This is Rayvn’s story, she is Shiloh’s bestie(from book one).
FMC Rayvn struggles to find acceptance of her interest and desires. She is a strong female lead who doesn’t bend under pressure. She is a criminal defense attorney. Father has Alzheimer’s disease. Had an ex who tired to force her after she told him her fantasies, been single for awhile because of him. Afraid of trusting others now and being judged for her wants.
MMC Wolfe is an unhinged stalker and grows worse as the story progresses. Parents tried to sell him for drugs as a baby, gets rescued and taken in by Kat. Was bullied in school, and is a virgin when he meets Rayvn. He is a tall, motorcycle riding/tattooed hottie and possessive as hell. Wolfe is an online hacker, who opened medical research facility for Kat (adopted mother with Alzheimer’s). Quotes Edgar Allan Poe, which I love!
Wolfe created a whole-ass alter-ego to figure out what Rayvn enjoyed and then went out of his way to become those things for her. He literally made himself her fantasies come to life. He gave her some of her darkest desires just to please her but ended up loving them just as much.
“Tell me everything terrible thing you did, and let me love you anyway,” he whispers.
This one has a lot of trigger warnings, please be aware before reading a book. This book is A LOT, so make sure you can handle reading it. It’s hot and spicy but some of the scenes are graphic and extreme. I am living for it! ❤️🔥

This is the second book by Bex that I’ve read and after loving the first this didn’t disappoint. This was a completely different vibe from the first book. This is a much darker book and definitely more raw. I thought Rayvn was a great and badass fmc I just wished we got to see more of it. Wolfe was great too and was the perfect obsessive and possesive hero.
My only issues was there were some plot holes for me and some things could / should have been explored more. Although the smut in this book was fucking hot I just didn’t connect with the story as much as I did compared to cracked foundation.
I will mention that this book is steamy and the MCs don’t actually meet until about 50% in so it is somewhat of a slower burn although the spice level isn’t comprised what so ever.

This is NOT a light read! There is a long list of triggers, including kinks. And everything is in full detail!
If you read through those trigger warnings checking off all the things you enjoy, definitely read this one! Those kinks are very much involved, and in full lovely detail! And yes, 110%, the kinks are a huge part of the plot, but they are only just a piece. They play a larger role. Rayvn and Wolfe are both lost, in ways they didn’t even realize until their paths cross. Rayvn is a prominent attorney who is damn good at her job. And Wolfe is just as good at his, on the dark web. He has made it his mission to be invisible. Which makes stalking Rayvn an easy task. Well, it seems easy anyway. Until it becomes more than just stalking. Wolfe craved her, in ways he never imagined possible. She became an obsession, he was completely consumed. For the first time, he wants more. Ray saw the monster hiding inside Wolfe, but it didn’t scare her away. She doesn’t just taunt his monster, she embraces it. I was so unprepared for all of Wolfe’s soft edges. I knew when I started swooning because of his love for Poe I was going to be in trouble. His words also spoke louder than his actions. And his non-sexual actions only screaming louder. No matter how primal and feral he was, everything about him was reassuring. Trust and love pours from his body. And Rayvn felt every bit of it. He made sure of it. Ray wanted to give up control, but he had to fight to take it from her. And I loved her for that! Wolfe and Rayvn were very simply and easily each other’s sage space. I loved every second of it. If you take away his less redeeming qualities, take away most of his red flags…actually don’t take any of that away. Except maybe the illegal bits. I adore Wolfe exactly as he is, and so does Rayvn. I obviously loved having more time with Shiloh, Logan, and Dom. I’m looking forward to what else has to come with this series!

Oh, Primal Urges, where primal instincts and questionable life choices collide in one big, messy, deliciously dark romance. This book is a ride, and not the smooth kind. Think more along the lines of being thrown onto a rollercoaster with no seatbelt while someone whispers dirty threats in your ear. Fun, right?
First off, let’s talk about how refreshing it is to have a Black female main character in a dark romance. I need more of this, because let’s be real, the genre is sorely lacking. And our girl? She’s got fire, attitude, and just the right amount of “I might stab you if you piss me off.” We love a heroine who doesn’t just roll over (unless, of course, she wants to).
Now, for the spice. It’s hot. It’s intense. It’s the kind of dirty that makes you glance around to make sure no one’s reading over your shoulder. Four out of five spicy chili peppers because my Kindle was sweating, but not completely on fire. There were a couple of moments where I thought, Okay, sir, let’s take it down a notch before someone files a police report.

This book does not play around with the dark in dark romance. Expect:
• Dub/non-con elements (consent is very blurry here, folks)
• Kidnapping/forced proximity (because why use Tinder when you can just abduct your soulmate?)

• Violence (both inside and outside the bedroom)
If those don’t scare you off (or if they secretly make you more interested, no judgment), then go for it.
So why the 3 ⭐️? As much as I love a good morally bankrupt love interest, sometimes this one felt a little too… unhinged. Like, sir, therapy is right there. Some parts dragged a little, and I wish we had more character depth instead of just violence + lust = love. But hey, if you’re here for the chaos, you’ll get exactly what you came for.
Would I recommend it? If you love your romances as messy as your search history, absolutely.

Let’s start by saying definitely read the trigger warnings. I did not and there were parts of this that was uncomfortable for me.
Okay I feel this was a case of cat and mouse that went on entirely too long. There is no real Spice in the book just suspense and dominance. It could have been summed up in 125 pages. I knew once i reached page 120 that I should have stopped reading but I try not to quit and give books a chance. I wish I could have my time back from this.
I hate series that do not intertwine. Aside from Shiloh appearing in this books there was nothing that really connected the two other than sexual proclivity. And I guess this is the new way of series now but it’s stupid as hell on my opinion.

I have really mixed feelings when it comes to this story. I really ended up, loving the characters and the storyline was attention, grasping for sure. You need to read the triggers for a story like this and be 100% committed to reading it. If something makes you feel super uncomfortable, don’t even give this book a second glance, but if you want to get into it, definitely read the warnings.
On one hand, the kinks explored in this book is definitely the opposite of what I usually read, but, Bex has an amazing way of writing a good story regardless of … The FMC being a black woman was already a plus for me since it’s not as common. I also liked how she was in a position of power, her being a lawyer (and a damn good one) fit her character well. She has a long list of kinks that are super taboo and there is a part of the story that touches on people abusing/misinterpreting her likes in bed and using it against her. She gets a dating app and ends up talking to her stalker (MMC).
He had a rough childhood and is still working on his insecurities. Her likes end up matching his and they get together in the most crazy way. I loved how he chose to remain anonymous throughout their encounters, and it showed the deep level of trust with her still maintaining contact, even though she never knew what he looked like.
The only reason why I am iffy about liking it is because there are themes in this book that are very dark and graphic. Some are depicted in a sexual nature at the same time in other instances as wicked acts. There is a fine line and trying to distinguish between both sides was kind of difficult in some areas for me, but I still was able to enjoy the story. I’d say that I enjoyed this one less than I did the previous one, but that’s not saying this isn’t a good book
It’s very kinky, it’s explained is that from the office, so I want to head no reviews about that because it clearly details
It’s a completely different vibe to the first one entirely. This is stalker dark, dark definitely book which doesn’t make it bad but this is very much to gradation. Where are the first one is definitely more prayers and love than hate.
The plot disappears about a third way in and only comes back in the last 20% each is varnishes, and it makes no sense to me that in every other case that he’s done before his looked in to the reasonings, and yet this one of the only one he just didn’t, especially especially when he got so obsessed with that. There’s no way he wouldn’t want to go out who the hell is trying to kill this girl.
Overall, it was good there were a lot of kink shaming internalised, but I don’t understand that the warnings around the group it’s not right, but it was a bit more explicit than I’d probably want in a book towards the end with the descriptions around the bodysuit. There were some trigger warnings, and therefore anyone going into this book, should know about it.
I would read the first book again I don’t know if I would read this one again, just because it felt quite disconnected between the sex and the romance. I found it quite hard to get through, but it was still a good book.

After first book of series that I really enjoyed. I was really interested how this book is gonna be. It had soo much potential. I liked the idea that she’s a lawyer and he’s the guy that has to destroy her career but you will get that on first 30 pages and then it’s like forgotten. You don’t get any I mean ANY story whatsoever about their work. The main characters are just idiotic to me. We don’t know anything about them. They don’t know anything about each other and even if there’s a scene when they ask each other question we don’t get to know 99% of answers. But I don’t like to dnf books so I struggled but keep on reading. First book I finished in 2 days. This one I’m reading almost a week and I just can’t. I really would hope that the author put some more energy in telling their story rather than just focusing on bad sex scenes.

I can’t quite believe what I just read!! Wow!! Now this wasn’t perfect hence the 4 instead of 5 stars but what a read!!
Wolfe isn’t morally grey he’s morally black!! Yet at the same time he’s great!!
I’m pretty sure I could write a 30k word thesis on the many different things that happened in this book!! I don’t think I have ever felt as much angst and buildup in a book as there was with this one!!
The thing is whilst reading it I did start to feel impatient, simply because I so desperately wanted them to get together and see one another face to face. But at the same time I loved the build up, the angst and anticipation. My biggest issue which I don’t usually have is that I wish the book was longer. I wish there were another 100 words even of them once they know who they are. Part of me feels like I was robbed of that. And the reason why it annoys me so much is because despite how dark and really depraved many elements in this book were, I actually loved both MCs!! But no I wasn’t given more, not even an epilogue 😩😩😩😩

not sure how i feel about this. it was written well and i couldnt stop reading the first half. but it took them so long to meet and they never talked about anything. not even about their parents being ill. and she fidnt find out the truth till wayyy at the end. she gets mad but magically forgives him without all the details shen she finds out his mum was sick and he built the research centre. like none of that explained away why she was mad. and then it ended in that scene. so they never talked. never had a real relationship. there wasnt even an epilogue. most of the book consisted of the build up to them meeting. and the kinky sex was too much for me. i mean i dont care about the chasing and everything but him with the blood made me want to throw up. the painting?!? eurgh. also it was uncomfortable to read them do it a minute after being assaulted. also he was stupid. he’s obsessed with her but never researched who hired him till it was too late?!!

Only issue I had really was how it seemed dragged out. Honestly it could probably be 50ish pages shorter and gotten the same end result but better rating. Or replace some of the lull with more of their relationship after the treatment facility.
I enjoyed cracked foundation more and am looking forward to reading Dom and Stephen's story.

I'm so glad I read this!
This book has everything a dark romance should have. I read a lot of books that are in the dark romance category but many aren't what a dark romance reader , like me, craves. The darker and twisted the better. This book focuses on two people. So, I really got to fall in love with them both. Sometimes there's too many characters to focus on and the character development loses its flavor. This doesn't have that issue. Bex delves deep and pushes the reader to become part of the story. The sex is extreme and twisted in oh so very very dark ways! However, it's not trashy and surfaced. I also love a true anti- hero that has a big dose of psychosis! Lol! There's a perfect amount of intrigue and at the end everything works out. There's a sadness to each of the characters stories and it will touch you and make you see how complex we all really are. If you love dark, twisted, and unbelievable hot sex then read this book! It has triggers so if you aren't into pushing the limits then find another book. However, I'm not ashamed of how much I love to explore the darkness and twisted sex that makes most cringe. Very well written and I have no doubt you'll love it!.

Good read
This book can be read as a standalone but it features the best friend of the FMC from book 1. Personally liked book 1 over this more but not because it’s a bad book.
The FMC Rayvin is a bad a** lawyer who’s trying hard to take down a very bad man who thinks he’s above the law. What she doesn’t realise is someone is watching her and has been tasked with taking her down. Luckily for her, that someone is the MMC Wolfe who happens to spot a fellow dark soul and his job gets a lot harder when he becomes obsessed with his prey.
I liked this book, it is very heavy on primal play so check Triggers if you have any around that and CNC. I didn’t give this as many stars at the first because I felt like it was missing parts of the plot. We seemed to jump from no contact to right in, then it was heavily based on kink scenes which I’m not complaining but the characters individually and together had such good story arcs I felt like more could have been done with that. I just felt like something more than just discussing the FMC’s kinks could have been expanded on, especially the MMC being a V.
Good but I wanted more ‘relationship’ context with the spice, just a personal preference

There are so many thing's I want to say. I've typed up four different kinds of reviews and have deleted them all because I just... I empathise. Not sympathise. I just... I get it.
Her history, her insecurities, her confusion... it's not easy liking darker stuff and not understanding why. It's even harder when the people closest to you don't understand and struggle to hide their distaste. So this story... it fucking hit me hard.
But I love that she helped Wolfe find himself, to accept himself, and I love that he was able to give her a safe space. Sure... it was a taboo and controversial way to find each other... but there was trust and understanding from the instant they saw each other. Just a picture and he was gone. A moment and she was entranced. I couldn't imagine them their person any other way. It had to be obsessive and all consuming. Otherwise they would have grown bored, tbh.
