Escorting his brother’s mate to Wales to meet the Supreme Alpha of a hidden Polyshifter village is not something Ryder Rivera ever thought he would be doing after nearly losing his brother to one of the lions’ schemes in London. They should be back in Pinewood Springs where they could all continue to heal from their ordeal, not meeting a Polyshifter with sketchy intentions. However, not only does the direction of their discussions take a sharp, intriguing turn even Theo didn’t predict, but unexpected news from their allies back in the states about finally locating where the lions might be keeping Logan’s mother has everyone rushing back home.
Their target? A Los Angeles based genetics lab owned by the city’s Alpha-Prime. Hoping to exercise some demons for not only himself but for his family, Ryder volunteers for the rescue mission. It’s there, deep in the bowels of the lion clan’s building that he meets Conner, a human geneticist that may just have all the answers to what the lion clans have been trying to accomplish in their secret labs, not to mention the fate of Logan’s parents.
Now Ryder just needs to smuggle a man that he’s not sure he can trust out of a city in lockdown that’s filled with lion shifters in powerful positions and their allies who are all gunning for them. Oh, and the wolf in him is also convinced that Conner should be his mate. Right. This. Second. Shouldn’t be a problem…
This is a steamy M/M paranormal romance with a HEA in a secret-from-humans A/B/O universe. Although mpreg can happen, it’s an extremely rare event and does not occur in this book. Each book in the series features a different couple, though all books are narratively connected and should be read in order.

I enjoyed the previous books in the series, but this one only has the MCs meeting at about the 50% mark and then uses insta-love/fated mates-ish tropes to explain the connection but we don’t actually get to see it unfold. Like this book is relentless exposition on the big overarching mystery element but even that isn’t really fully resolved, in that the bad guys are still out there being bad guys. The MCs also had so much trauma, and just doesn’t really deal with any of it in a meaningful way. It also threads some new ideas into the overarching plot that don’t go anywhere. This is a series where the books kinda got worse instead of better.
Wolves, polyshifters, a human and rogues... can they find the kidnapped shifters?
What a fantastic series! This book is non-stop action from cover to cover. Starting in Great Britain, ending in California, this saga leaves you breathless. In between the rescues, alliances are formed, and two men find themselves on the run from danger...and on the run toward love. The Clans will strike a crippling blow to the lions. But the saga continues. I can't wait for the next book!
I was initially annoyed that it took almost half the book before we even met Conner, but.. I enjoy Ryder so much and the plot was beyond compelling. While I'm sure there could definitely be more books set in this world (and I would *devour* every one of them), I'm also satisfied with how the major threads were tidied at the end of this book.
