L.A. Ruthless #3

Fierce Betrayal

Rate this book
Fierce Betrayal is a standalone dad’s best friend, age gap dark mafia romance.
It contains NO cheating and a HE.

Jackson Decker is everything I’ve ever wanted. Fierce. Loyal. Not to mention tall, tattooed and hotter than the earth’s core.

Too bad there are so many reasons why he’s off limits. He’s old enough to be my father, but even worse than that, he is the right-hand man of head of the Spanish Mafia, who just happens to be my dad. So that loyalty I admire in him so much is also the reason he will never look at me the way I want him to.

But when we start working together, sparks fly in ways that neither of us expected. One passionate night later, he ends us before we begin when he tells me 'this can never happen again.'

However, fate has other ideas, and when my life is in danger and I’m forced to leave LA with my young son, it’s Jackson who protects us both. Taking us to the ranch where he was raised and facing the demons of his own past in the process.

The weather isn’t the only thing that heats up in Texas and before long the attraction between us can no longer be denied.

But with so many obstacles in our way, how can we ever have a future together? Because when my father finds out about the two of us, there will be hell to pay. Can the head of the Montoya family ever forgive the ultimate betrayal?

Fierce Betrayal will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Full of tension and steam. It is book 3 in the LA Ruthless series, featuring the Montoya crime family.

i usually don’t write reviews but this was probably the worst book i’ve ever read. The only reason I finished this is so I can mark another read book this year.
Not only were the characters unlikable and very poorly developed, but the excessive use of verbs like growled and purred was the worst part of it all. I didn’t know I was reading a book about the animal kingdom. I want to erase this from my memory.
There was no real chemistry between Lucia and Jax. It was purely physical and Jax is a walking red flag. The only good thing about this book was her son Mathias and her brothers and that’s because they barely spoke or did anything.

Oof. I think I'm the only one that has any problems with this book. Well, here goes.

My main issue is that this book comes off very repetitive in the way it is written and that's because the author recycles the same words and phrases dozens of times. I used the feature on kindle to look up the count of these, and to put this into perspective, I did the same to several other books of different lengths (one book was even over 600 pages) and even still, this book used these sayings almost double or even triple the amount than any of the other books - which explains why it stood out so much to me. This just shows a lack of editing (Which I don't doubt because I noticed quite a few grammar mistakes and other errors) and/or a laziness to try and make the flow of the book seem smoother. For example: "they arch a brow" or "they flash a brow" could be portrayed just as easily if she said "they raise a brow", "their eyebrows rose", "their eyebrows flew up", "they quirk/lift a brow" and so on. The lack of trying is what I'm trying to get at. If you are going to repeatedly write in the same action over and over, at least switch it up so it doesn't seem like it.

Here are the words/phrases (and the count of how much they were used in this book) that stood out to me as the most overused:

Someone growls: 102 times
Someone snaps: 55 times
Someone snarls: 49 times
Lucia says the phrase "Wet heat pools/surges between my thighs" in that exact way or slightly different over 20 times
Someone whispers: 110 times (Seriously, why is one of them always either whispering or growling?)
Someone groans: 78 times
Someone arches an eyebrow or both eyebrows: 35 times
Someone flashes one or both eyebrows: 18 times
Someone frowns: 87 times
Someone hisses: 46 times

I checked her other books and it's the same. Same recycled phrases and overuse of these same words that are in this book.

I'm at a little over 70 pages in so far, but I just can't get into it. I'm going to take a break from reading the book and try to finish it in a few days. I'm not quite ready to call this a DNF. I want to like this - everyone seems to - so hopefully it'll get better when I decide to pick it up and try again. (Rating 2 stars for now because at this point that's how I feel, but will update the rating later if it changes. This is NOT my full review, even if I do dnf. I'm just too tired to write anything else right now lol.)

I feel like I have had to take time to write this because I couldn't put into words how much I loved this book without rambling.

Sadie has smashed it! Let's face it we know she's an absolute mastermind when it comes to our favourite books but this, this book topped it for me. Lucia and Jaxs relationship is everything I needed it to be. From the first few pages right the way through. The push and pull, the longing, passion it's all there. Lucias charater from Fierce King through to Fierce Betrayal is awsome she's definitely no longer the helpless teen who turned up at Alejandros front door.

Jax... Well hes just perfection in every way. Sadie couldn't have written him any better. He is the exact mix of punishment pleasure and praise, along with that swoon worthy loyalty and possessiveness that just makes me weak! I swear reading him you don't want to put the book down but you have to...... because you'd explode if you got through this hole book without some form of.... relief. So make sure you have enough batteries. Sod it just get a plug in for the mains because the heat in this book is 🥵🥵

You can definitely read this as a standalone as it does explain so much about their pasts BUT I highly recommend reading the Fierce King duet first the experience you get following these characters is amazing 😍😍

Also Alejandro and Jax is the bromance you didn't know you needed! Their banter and love for each other is brilliant even after Jax has a relationship with his daughter 👀👀.

If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. I cannot wait for Fierce Obsession I'm already itching to know the next part of their story.

Anyone who knows me, knows just how much I love Sadie’s Ryan Rule series and the Fierce king duet, as I talk about them constantly and they are some of the first I will recommend to anyone who asks. With that being said, Sadie did NOT disappoint with Fierce Betrayal. I was fully entranced in Lucia and Jax’s story. I love that Jax not only loves Lucia, but her son too. Their chemistry is amazing, and Sadie, like always, really brought them to life. I want more of these two and sweet little Matthias

And of course, made me squeal with happiness at the mention of the Ryan brothers and Jessie. I love when she throws that in their.

Sadie’s MMCs have all been amazing and she’s done it again. Jax (Jackson) is best friends & the right hand man to the King of LA, Alejandro. We saw the beginnings of a great friendship with Jax & Lucia in Alex & Alana’s story. Now that she’s older & ready to join her dad in business, things start to heat up.

There’s a 16 yr age gap, and Jax worries that he’s not right for her, plus that fact that Alex is likely to kill him for dating his daughter. When Jax takes Lucia out of LA to protect her, they soon realize they can’t stay away. Jax is strong, hot as sin, possessive, protective, and has a good sense humor.

You’ll have to read to see what happens when it’s time to tell Alex & Alana they are more than just friends. There’s no shortage of spice in this book, if you’ve read any of Sadie’s books, you should know you won’t be disappointed. 🔥🔥🔥

Spicy Spicy Spicy

Hmm where to begin.
I might even hazard to say, That I believe that Jackson and Lucia were hotter than Alana and Alejendro.
I was about to stop reading when he broke her heart.
But like Jackson says-They were magnets. Destined to be together.
They both found their equal, Their other half.
And let's just say there Healthy Appetites were certainly fulfilled for sure.
Many many Times 🤭.
Each story you Write Sadie, You just get sucked into your World.
Loved it xx

I liked it. It was a little light on the mafia plot but a lot of hot smut!
I liked that it ended with a happy ending but I will be going on to finish the duet to see if she ever takes over the business. I liked that the parents were in it and we got more of them.
Just like the others her writing style seems to be plot at the start and end with a whole lot of spice in the middle. Not that I’m complaining. 🤭

Fierce Betrayal

I enjoyed Luce & Jax's story. They made a great pair & seeing them finally get together was worth the wait!
This 3rd book was not quite as gripping as the first two books. I found myself getting bored & somewhat annoyed with the repetitive phrases.
I typically like to read the entire series, but I'm going to stop with this one.

THIS GETS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️’s SOLELY FOR THE VIBES!!!!!!

(this book is realistically JUST, hitting the ⭐️⭐️⭐️ marks but ANYWAY)

if you ignore how repetitive the writing is, how there is obvious grammar/wording mistakes and just the god awful age gap… this book slaps.

like i couldn’t really get out of the back of my mind how Jackson was 37 and Lucia was 21, and how he had known her since she was 16… but like it’s the mafia where they kill people sooooooo 🤷‍♀️

OTHER THAN THAT….. it was a fun ride. i read this in one day (ignore how it’s 4am and I’m just finishing it) because it was a fun read.

there was actually an interesting plot (unlike the first two books), Lucia wasn’t an annoying FMC and actually had depth to her character. also Alejandro was a king in this book idc what anyway says, he was fucking hilarious.

don’t even get me started on Jackson Decker bro… like, HOLY FUCKING SHITTTT!!!! he is a king, he’s an icon, he is the moment. He’s nice, caring, protective, good looking (and i mean smoking), funny, ISN’T A RED FLAG!!!!! this is unheard of in mafia romance 😱😱. like this man had me giggling and blushing!!!!!!!!!
respectfully… i need him 🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️🧎‍♀️
(i don’t know if this means i’ve lost all respect for myself or i’m just delusional… probably both)

ANYWAY

The actual romance between the FMC and the MMC was actually good, like they had chemistry and the banter they had between each other was great. was it giving fan fiction romance? yes. but it was hitting all the good boxes:

forbidden love ✅
mutual pining ✅
hurt/comfort ✅
angst ✅
👀👀👀 (iykyk) ✅
MMC is an idiot ✅

i ate it up

so in conclusion, don’t even bother reading the first two books just skip straight to this one. it’s actually worth it.

23% into the book and I just feel like I can’t finish it. I don’t believe that the first two books were masterpieces but they were better than this. I just don’t understand what makes Lucia and Jax be in love besides lust or just physical attraction. Also I just couldn’t get past the fact that Lucia calls Alejandro and Alana, “dad” and “mom” when Alejandro is literally her cousin. I don’t understand why they had to adopt her either because she was turning 18 in just a few months. It would be a different story if she was around 13 but she was 17 years old so what was the point? I just feel like them adopting her and their relationship in this book makes Alana and Alejandro feel like a couple in their 50s when in their books, it couldn’t be further from the truth. It truly felt like I was reading a continuation that took place in another reality or timeline.

There are four books in this series and I’m stopping here. The third one in the series is about Lucia the adopted daughter of Alana and Alejandro from the first 2 books. Jax, Alejandro’s right hand man is Lucia’s love interest.

While the 4th book is about Lucia and Jax’s relationship I’ve read enough by this author. Her books read like sex manuals with a tale intertwined. The first 2 we’re bordering on erotica. This one steps further into that premise. We all have limits on what is too much sex/spice…I’ve reached mine.

So I’m moving on because there’s so much more out there to read. The best part is that I read this on Kindle Unlimited so I can just return it.

Fierce Betrayal: L.A. Ruthless (Book 3) - By Sadie Kincaid

“Forgive me Father, for I have SINNED!” Actually, I don’t want forgiveness. I’m ok with SIN as long as his name is Jackson Decker.

Jackson “Jax” Decker is walking, talking, breathing, tattooed SEX ON A STICK AND I WANT HIM! All My Lady Bits Can’t Stop Tingling! If Jackson Decker is what fantasies are made of, than I don’t want to wake up.

Lucia Montoya didn’t have an easy go of life growing up. Her mom passed away when she was very young. Leaving her with an abusive father and brothers. Getting pregnant at the age of 17 didn’t help either.

Lucia is Alejandro Montoya’s adopted daughter. He is the Head of the Spanish Mafia and very protective of his family. Jax is not only his right hand man, he is also his best friend, his “brother.” Betrayal is not something Alejandro is okay with. Especially, if his daughter is involved.

Having to “grow up” early in life has made Lucia mature beyond her years. She is smart, beautiful, sassy, spicy and a great mother. However, the one thing missing, is the one thing she wants most. Yet, it seems to be out of her reach. Lucia has loved Jax since she was a teenager. But, he is off limits. Or is he!?

Jax is as loyal and fierce as they come. “Brothers” with Lucia father has always been his priority. Until, Lucia and her son manage to find their way into his heart. “You’re gonna be my fucking undoing, Luce.” Has Jax finally met his match? Will he risk his relationship with Alejandro to find the happiness he craves with Lucia?

As the fates would have it, Lucia’s life is in danger. Who best to protect both her and her son? Of course, Jackson. He takes her to the safety of his ranch in Texas. Once there, they are in their own bubble, feelings come to fruition and there is no stopping them. “That part of herself that never feels good enough. The part that thinks she doesn’t deserve a man like me, when the opposite is true. She is far to good for me but it’s too late now. She sold her soul to the devil and I’ll never return it.”

Sadie “Kink” Kincaid, once again, has not disappointed with the steamy sex scenes! Wait until you read the BEER BOTTLES scene! Holy Hotness doesn’t even begin to describe it. 5🔥

Sadie Kincaid writes another great book in the L.A. Ruthless Series. “Fierce Betrayal” will keep you turning the pages until there are no more pages to turn. Just how I like it!

If you are looking for ..
✅ Standalone ✅ Age Gap
✅ Mafia ✅ Dad’s Best Friend
✅ Praise Kink 🔥🔥🔥 All the Spice, Fierce Betrayal is the book for you!

Ohhh myyyy damnnnn! Sadie has done it again, and this one may be the hottest one yet!🥵

Jax Decker is the right hand man to the King of LA, leader of the Spanish Mafia. Lucia Montoya is the his daughter… Though Lucia has always looked at Jax with heart eyes, he never really noticed her as anything more than his best friends daughter until one night that changed.. After one night together Lucia’s feelings grew strong while Jax tried everything in his power to make it a one night only kind of thing. But when circumstances changed, and they are forced together for a while things become serious. Let me tell you the way that this man is whole heartedly devoted to her is EVERYTHING! Once he is in, he is all in even when they finally tell her parents they are together, Jax maintains his all in status!

Also the love that he has for Matthais is so sweet! The man that never thought about wanting kids would literally do anything for that sweet baby boy!!

Lucia!! Let’s just talk about her for a minute and the fierce princess she so badly wants to be! She is young and that is apparent in her view of the world even though she has been through so many horrible things at such a young age, she holds on to this small piece of innocence that I think makes her, her. The love she has for everyone and the sunshine personality she walks around with makes her so much more! You definitely see her character mature even more throughout this book, and if there are more books down the road I can’t WAIT to see what she becomes!!

Sadie slayed the spice, the dirty talk, the scenes all of it! I loved every minute of this book, and I loved every minute of Jax & Luce!

Y’all I thought I was obsessed with Alejandro Montoya & Shane Ryan before, everyone better watch out because Jackson Decker takes the cake in all things sexy, loving, and possessive!!❤️

There’s just so much to say. Like how do I manage to collect all these book boyfriends from Sadie? Jackson Decker is definitely part of my top 2.

For me the best books make you feel everything and this book did just that. I felt the hurt from Lucia in those moments when Jax had messed up. I felt it when he knew he had. I felt the joy and elation from the both of them. I loved reading about how their relationship grew into what it became. You forget there’s an age gap until it’s brought up. His relationship with Matthias is heartwarming and made me definitely love seeing that side of him. But I also felt the anger from her father and the worry from her mother. This book had me in a whirlwind of emotions and I loved every minute of it.

Normally I bulk at the thought of that fierce possessiveness (in real life) but it has definitely become one of my favorite things to read. And Jax even before they knew how it would be had staked that claim. Definitely more so in those melt you moments. It’s worth the read if you’re looking for a new book boyfriend or girlfriend because Lucia is just as amazing as Jax.

Sadie Kincaid is an auto buy for me for a reason. I really thought it would be hard to beat the Ryan brothers as far as Sadie's world goes, but I just LOVE Jax. He comes as close as any 1 man will come to beating my favorite Kincaid reverse harem.

Jax had a very brusque, no nonsense characterization in books 1 & 2, but Sadie does an amazing job with dual POV and there were honestly times where Jax's desperation and passion gave me chills.

Lucia's maturation was lovely and I truly enjoyed watching her come into her own from when we first met her in the other books. Sadie was perfection when it came to weaving Matthias into their story in the exact perfect amount. The alone time that Jax and Lucia got without him was organic and very real to having a young child.

This can absolutely be read as a stand alone as these main characters were supporting roles in Fierce King and Fierce Queen, but their backstory is effortlessly woven into this installment.

Smutty stuff: The 🌶️ kicks off at 25% and it kicks off in a big way. Not only is this well above the romance book standard of about 50%, but Sadie knows how to write 🌶️. Bonus stat, "🐔" appears 112 times. 😏

Where do I start?! Sorry to all my other book boyfriends but Jackson Decker has stolen me away, melted me like butter!

Wasn’t to sure how I would like the age gap, but Sadie made it work! But the love this man gives her, shows her, proves to her that she deserves. Fights her father to prove he loves her more than anyone ever, not once but twice!

But holy hell!!! That man and his mind, not to mention the things he does to her! Dear lord I think I need to go to confession and confess son sins after reading this!

Seriously the way he pines for her till he breaks makes me swoon. Not to mention the way he treats her son with so much love and compassion.

Enough rambling this book is a definite must read!! No doubt something that will pull you in and keep you wanting more after it’s over! xXx

And just when I didn’t think anyone could top Alejandro Montoya’s hottness/sexiness, along comes Jackson Decker!🔥….
Just WOW!!!!…. You will not be able to put this book down, it gives you the warm fuzzies as the cat and mouse game between Jackson Decker and Lucia Montoya plays out.
Jax is not only Alejandro’s best friend but he is also his loyal and trusted right hand man, that is until he steps over the line and ultimately breaks Alejandro’s trust.
Mixed with the usual suspense and mayhem that seems to follow the Montoya Family, this book kept me totally engrossed. Loved every page of it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

*I was gifted an ARC copy or my honest opinion*

Ahhh Jax and Lucia are just the cutest! I’m so glad Jax finally has someone because I’ve been so curious about him since the first book, plus southern drawls are just hot as fuck 🤷‍♀️

And the steam is 🥵 honestly… Jackson dirty talk is definitely on par with Alex …

I find it a little odd that Lucia called Alejandro and Alana mum and dad with them adopting her so old but they really do take her in and act as older siblings/parents in equal measure so I guess it suits well really.

Matthias and the twins are literally so fucking cute I can’t cope 😭😭 and I love that they’re brought into the story so often, it makes Jax even hotter that he takes Matthias in as his own little boy 😭🧡

The story is fast paced and it’s an easy read, just a few too many exclamation points is my only other random little comment.

*UPDATE- the author saw this review and edited the exclamation point thing because she’s amazing so I retract this*

TW- Female character talks of a past rape ⚠️

Overall really enjoyed this book! Thankyou Sadie so much for the ARC 🧡

Wow..

📖 Tropes:

⁃ Fathers best friend
⁃ Age gap
⁃ Single mother
⁃ Mafia princess
⁃ Stalker
⁃ Kidnapping

🌶 Spice: 5/5
⭐️ Overall: 5/5

“Who owns you?” he whispers. “You, Jax. Only you.”

Fierce Betrayal was everything. I could feel the subtle heat between Lucia & Jax in the last book brewing so I couldn’t wait for this to come out. Lucia is now a mom and all grown up. No longer a scared little girl and replaced by a fiercely independent woman.

I absolutely loved getting to see inside Jax’s head as his character in the first two books was fascinating. He is devoted and fiercely loyal to Alejandro and his family. The love and loyalty he has towards Lucia and her son was so beautifully written.

The plot and character development throughout the book was the perfect blend of angst, spice and suspense. Sadie knows exactly what we want and doesn’t fail to deliver. Her writing makes you feel everything the characters do and it is so easy to get lost in the world she has created.

Just when I thought Sadie's books could not get any better she completely blows me out the water. Every time I read one of her books I fall completely in love with her book men and Jax Decker is no exception. He is hot as hell, loyal and very protective everything I love in a book boyfriend!
Lucia is such a strong heroine and I loved her character development throughout the story. This is a book once you start you will not be able to put down the emotions literally fall off the page. Plus Matthias is just the sweetest little boy and the relationship he has with Jax is the cutest.
Filled with plenty of suspense and a lot of steam🔥🔥🔥 I was completely engrossed in this book and could not put it down! I would love to read more of the Montoya world!

DNF at 63%.

Sadie has done it again. Fierce Betrayal was everything I hoped it would be. This age gap romance father's best friend hits all the right notes for me. Not only that but we get more from the L.A. Ruthless family. Seeing Alejandro and Alana again is an added bonus to an already fantastic story.

I really enjoyed the push and pull between wanting each other and knowing that you're betraying someone who means so much to you. It's a hard one to write but this one works.

Jax and Lucia are really perfect for each other. After everything she's been through Lucia has managed to come out the other side thanks to Alejandro and Alana but it's also made her tougher than most. Jax is all alpha and Alejandro's number 2 for a reason he's trustworthy and fierce and loyal to those he considers family.

It is a great combination of suspense, drama, and spice (which is hot)! I wanted more of Jax and Lucia but Sadie finished the story off perfectly. That doesn't mean I won't still be wishing for more.

Lucia has wanted Jax since she showed up at the shelter Alana was working at when she was 16. He is the first man to ever make her feel safe. Now 21 and all grown up she wants him more than ever but she knows he'll never be more because he is her father's best friend and he won't cross that line.

A year ago things changed for Jax, one look at Lucia in that club with that guy's hands on her and he suddenly saw her differently. No matter how much he wants her he'll keep her at arm's length because he would never betray Alejandro like that.

Now Lucia wants to work for Montoya Corporation and Jax is assigned to teach her how the company works. Being in her presence every day starts to weaken his resolve and when he thinks just one night will be enough he couldn't be more wrong.

After Lucia's car gets crashed into she reveals someone has been stalking her via social media. Both Alejandro and Jax go into protective mode and Jax takes Lucia and her son to his ranch in Texas while Alejandro goes hunting.

Now away from the eyes of Alejandro, Lucia pushes for what she wants with Jax and he can no longer deny that she is more than just some girl. No one has ever made him feel what she does and he will make her his.
"Who owns you?" he whispers. "You, Jax. Only you."

With Alejandro having hunted down the person responsible for the crash it's time to return home and Lucia and Jax have to tell Alejandro and Alana what's between them.

Alejandro takes it as well as expected and puts them in an impossible situation. Jax won't give up the only women he has ever loved though and Lucia won't back down from the man who makes her happier than she's ever been.

Despite that Alejandro and Jax are not talking, when Lucia is taken they'll work together to get her back and hopefully mend their fractured friendship.

Happy Reading.

So... I'm weird with my age gaps. I find I can only enjoy an age gap if there isn't an inherent power discrepancy. Fierce Betrayal has an age gap I could enjoy. Lucia is established, and has power of her own in the form of her family. This isn't a damsel in distress, pushover who can't think for herself. Jax is his own man, powerful (though not as powerful as his boss). A lot of times, authors gloss over the earlier MMC as a foot note or just a supporting character. And while Alejandro and Alana are secondary characters in this book, they don't lose anything. Alejandro is still in charge and Jax has to maneuver around falling for his best friend's adopted daughter. Their relationship has to change to accommodate that. It's not easy.

I was legit stuck on a chapter for far longer than I should have been just because I thought it was going to be the Jax/Alex show down. I was wrong, by the by. When I picked up the book again to start fresh, I made sure to push through. I was not disappointed.

I read the NY Ruthless series and the Chicago Ruthless series before this. It was great to see the worlds cross over: Jax reaching out to Shane and Jessie to help them find who is harassing Lucia; Toni Moretti training another badass woman who is living in a ruthless world.

On to the next!

Sadie has done it yet again!! I am not even sure where to begin – this book hits all the right spots.

Sadie has knocked it out of the park yet again with Fierce Betrayal. Just when I think that she can’t top her last book, she comes along and writes the story of Jax Decker and Lucia Montoya and I am proved wrong yet again – Sadie blows this book out of the water!!

Fierce Betrayal is the 3rd book of the LA Ruthless series which is a standalone and reads so well as that but trust me read the first two (Fierce Kind and Fierce Queen) you will NOT be disappointed!! This book is a prefer combo of suspense, spice, and everything in between!

Sadie does an amazing job with creating complex characters in all her books and this one is no exception. Jax and Lucia’s characters are so dynamic you can’t help but love them and their chemistry between is just amazing!

The spice is this book is also so great!! (Barn Scene – IYKYK!) Sadie manages to write these amazing hot scenes (Jax’s dirty talk is off the charts!) while keeping it fresh and new and keeping you connected to each of the characters!

If you are looking for an amazing standalone mafia age gap/Dad’s best friend book that is filled with all the spice you can handle I HIGHLY recommend Fierce Betrayal – You will not be disappointed!!

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!
