And you probably know that working with sourdough always yields lots of extra dough, called “discard.” The book has a special chapter that reveals all the glorious things you can make with sourdough discard, from Sourdough Brownies and Sourdough Blueberry Muffins to Sourdough Pancakes, Sourdough Lemon Scones, and even Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookies.
This is a book that makes sourdough easier than you ever thought—and better tasting than ever.
I was so excited to get the dust off of my bread machine and use it again. Felt it was important to test a recipe or two before giving my review. So made the sourdough starter with yeast. Came out just fine so proceeded to baked the Crusty Sourdough Bread. It baked up nice and brown except for the top. Delicious and hearty and my husband thoroughly enjoyed it. (My machine is older and not supposed to add more than 3 cups of flour in the bucket and it has no “paddles” the author mentioned throughout the book..) I only wish there were more details about the sourdough consistency. Suggestions about which type of container should be used to store the sourdough and to leave the top off the sourdough jar to let the oxygen in. Made the brownies from sourdough discard. They were not as sweet as I like and came out cakey not fudgie but some people like them that way. Next I tried the brioche bread but that was an utter failure. Had to throw the entire batch out. Overall this book is a good purchase if you have a newer version bread machine, plus I could not find another sourdough cookbook for bread machines on the market.
... well as a german I love good bread!!! It has to be crisp and rich in flavor - soooooo good, that you wish you could eat the whole loaf without anything on it.
Well, this book might be interesting for people who love to make their own bread with their breadmachines.
Sourgdough is really yumm, especially when it´s fresh out of the oven - I do prefer my bread like this. BUT from what I have read out of the receipes: it has a TON of different varieties: with dried tomatoes, apllesauce, garlic, corn. pumkin, chocolate, brioche, Müsli, etc.
So, if you like your homemade Bread in different kind of flavours: go ahead with this book! I think it worth it.
I do like receipe books with lots of pictures - in this book ou have simple stuff - good for printout and your own notes.

I have not been successful in the past with sourdough breads doing them the old fashioned way. It may be that I have a lack of patience or my timing is off. However, the title of this book caught my attention - I can make regular dough in my bread machine, and that means I might be more successful with this version of sourdough bread making.
The care and true love showed throughout the book as Michelle Anderson not only helped to make some parts of sourdough bread starters easier, but also helped me see new and creative ways to use the sourdough as well as using the discard for smaller dough uses. The bonus is that the recipes also include a gluten-free and many recipes without eggs, which makes this even more valuable overall for my family.
The recipes are simple and seem easy to follow. The photos cause me to want to have batch of sourdough to start with right now.
I needed the right week to be able to create my starter and it is going to be this week; I will share how well I did when I make my first loaf, which will be plain and standard. However, I also look forward to the sweet potato sourdough bread, the cardamon sourdough bread, and feel delight that I will be making bagels as well from the discard.
I had no idea you could make so many different types of bread in a bread machine! I missed the bread making trend during quarantine but recently decided to buy a bread machine so I could try my hand at it. But the recipes that came with my machine were #basic.
Enter in Sourdough Breads from the Bread Machine to the rescue! I was wondering if reviewing this book would also come with a coupon for Weight Watchers or something because I'm going to need it after I make every single one of these recipes.
I loved the photos in the book! Each loaf looked super yummy and made me want to get baking. I also really appreciated how the beginning of the book educated the reader on the bread machine, how to use some of them, tips and tricks, etc. That was super helpful for someone like me that isn't a culinary genius. Highly recommend you buy this book and some stretch pants to go with it!
I grew from country which bread isnt main source of food. We ate it in small portion and mostly as snack only. When Covid quarantine life started seem everyone's starting making all kind bread as new hobby, that's when I heard about sourdough breads. It seem healthier choice from normal our breads.
Sourdough Breads from Bread Machine provided me enough basic knowledge about this topic. Sourdough is a bread made by the fermentation of dough using wild lactobacillaceae and yeast. Natural starter lactic acid from ingredient provide extra probiotic for producing higher qualities breads, healthier with better taste and stays fresh longer. Author will teach us recipe and technique to make several kind of sourdough. But my most favourit part of this book off course recipes part. Not only breads, author also provided implementation of this sourdough for scones, cookies even pancakes. This book will become amazing collection for baking beginner as me to learning. And additional references for all seasoning baker.
Thank you Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Harvard Common Press for provided my copy. I am grateful and my thoughts are my own. Sourdough Bread will publish at 27 September 2022.
Thank you NetGalley and Michelle Anderson for the ARC of Sourdough Breads from the Bread Machine. This is my personal review. I am a huge cookbook fan, and this is going to be on my shelf to be used over and over again. I love my bread machine and to get all these fantastic new recipes to make in my machine is going to be a fabulous addition to my collection. I never imagined there are so many great recipes for sour dough bread that I can make in my machine. I can not wait to impress my friends and family with all my new breads I can serve for meals. I am most exited to make the Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls.
Sourdough isn’t an easy thing to master but once you do it’s amazing. This book gives you a few versions of your starter. Then how to use those starters for different loaves.
The instructions are easy to follow with easy to find ingredients. Just know you can follow the recipe to the letter & still have your starter not work. It’s ok just start over.
I just loved this cookbook. All the recipes look so good that they will just make your mouth water. I can’t wait to start making some of these recipes. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC. All options are my own.
An excellent sourdough book with plenty of recipes to enjoy, made me get my machine back out of the cupboard and try some new flavours. Good information on sourdough starter and recipes are easy to follow. I received this book from Quatro/Harvard press and Netgalley for a review.
Wonderful, easy way to enjoy sourdough! Lots of great recipes. So glad I received an arc of this cookbook. I previously didn't have much luck with sourdough.
