Rate this book
Quantum RisingAfter overcoming centuries of horrors brought upon by the Umbradome, and its leader, The Epilogue, the Cosmos has finally managed to emerge into the Light Ages. The need for intergalactic warriors, known as “Cosmos Protectors,” has gradually decreased.

That doesn’t stop Jason Wish, an enthusiastic Cosmos Protector, from fulfilling his dreams. Jason has always lived under the shadow of his deceased father, who single-handedly brought the Umbradome to an end. Eager to become something more than his “father’s son,” Jason ventures away from his home planet, Stonit, to his newly assigned planet.

He quickly realizes that his duties as a Cosmos Protector have turned more complicated… for there are evil forces at play that neither the people of Stonit, nor himself, had anticipated. Alongside this looming threat, Jason suddenly discovers he has acquired a mysterious and powerful energy that enhances his power beyond anything he could have ever imagined. He learns that possessing this energy makes him central to the survival of the Cosmos—and a target for the mysterious individual plotting to doom the Cosmos…

First, a huge thank you to the author for sending me a free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

The book was honestly super enjoyable, a really really fun read all the way through. It had a sort of whimsical feel alongside the serious “gravity” of the plot, which to me felt somewhat reminiscent of Harry Potter.

It did have a few issues though, which dropped it down to three stars for me. The first of these issues was the pacing- I felt like the book was too short for what it was, which compressed the entire story into such a narrow frame that at times I felt overwhelmed by the speed of the narrative.

The second issue is not usually something that factors into my reviews. It’s something I always notice, when it is present, but not something that generally drops my rating. This issue is the grammar. There were a lot of grammatical errors in this book, and often it actually distracted from the writing.

That being said, Ricardo Andres really knows how to write! Jason Wish was a fantastic protagonist who I think really could shine with a bit more time for character development. And I thought the story itself was a creative play on classic sci-fi, which was really fun!

Also… the ending. Without giving spoilers, I’ll just say this: It’s insane, and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

For anyone who’s a fan of superhero comics, intergalactic space warriors, and alien shape shifters, you’ll love Luminary: Quantum Rising! The story follows a young Jason Wish from the planet Stonit, who travels to Earth to track down shape shifters known as Entintinys. Little does he know that he is given a superpower that makes him wanted by dark threats. This novel is exciting for anyone who is looking for a short novel to put on their TBR. I can’t wait for the sequel!

A very enjoyable read! This book is very fast paced and has a very likable alien protagonist, Jason Wish. I thoroughly enjoyed the threads of a larger story behind this initial book, which seems to be setting it up nicely for a sequel. The technology the alien race, the Tacs, use is also really interesting and I think this story also gives an intriguing insight into how an alien race might perceive us humans!

Luminary is an exciting sci-fi adventure featuring Jason Wish as the main character. He is an intergalactic soldier in charge of protecting his assigned planet from the dangers of the Epilogue. The book details his adventures as he gets to know new friends and the planet he's supposed to protect. This is a great book and is a fast read, I highly recommend it. Wonderful new author!

fun read!

I loved this book for its take on immigration. The protagonist, Jason Wish, is a young alien warrior who must carry out his duty as a warrior on earth, and find shape shifters meaning to do harm. While reading the novel, I enjoyed the fast pacing that it had to offer! I recommend this novel to anyone looking for a fast, fun read!
