1 & 2 Thessalonians

Rate this book
By studying 1st and 2nd Thessalonians (in the EP Study Commentary series), we get to read some of Paul's first scriptural statements about the glories of Christ. We also notice Paul's great compassion and love toward this young Thessalonian church, which may have been only six months old when Paul is writing the first letter. Despite being young, the church is doing generally well. Although it is true that there are some difficulties, most of these are caused by those outside the church; some, however, are caused by those inside the church. Robert Cara shows how this has direct and indirect meaning for us today in the 21st century.

Content was excellent. I love Cara’s conversational tone and it is definitely a commentary that effectively balances being written for scholars and for pastors and regular people. Extended discussion on the holy kiss that had some funny editorial remarks. The endnotes were super brutal and the formatting of the book as a whole made it difficult to read at times. Cara = good Guy, Publishers = guys who need some improvement
