"Do I detect a touch of desire in those gorgeous blue eyes, or is my boozed-up mind imagining things.."
Ever the sceptic, Rein Valdez hoped all of her dreams would come true when she scored a scholarship and got accepted into Oakhill University—a prestigious Fine Arts school in Chicago. She was convinced that this was going to be that new start she's been so desperately yearning for after she tragically lost her mother to an accident that almost killed her too.
Yes, a magnificent adventure was awaiting her, so she packed up her suitcase and moved across the globe to pursue her dreams of getting her degree and one day opening her gallery.
Rein didn't expect the beautiful, charismatic Australian Professor—Talon Saxton, aka Professor Hottie, to be such a distraction.
While every red-blooded woman with a pulse and weakness for an Australian accent at the University is lusting after and trying to charm the humble Adonis, Rein is trying her best to stay focused on her schoolwork and keep her grades up. Even though to Rein, it seemed the Hunky Hercules harboured a clear dislike toward her and was determined to make her life as hard as possible, that wasn't the case at all.
What Rein assumed to be hate glowing in those fierce blue eyes turned out to be rapacious desire...for her, and the harder Professor Saxton fought his feelings and urges, the more Rein wanted him.
After all, forbidden fruit does taste the sweetest, and one little taste was enough to send them both free-falling into the fiery pit.
But then again, Rein Valdez didn't believe in love—in fact, she swore it off, so why is she finding herself falling hook, line and sinker for her Professor?
Rein is a sassy, fierce, and very independent to a fault heroine. She worked her way to a prestigious performing arts college in Chicago. Rein and her boyfriend Hunter, have been dating for a few months and feel he is more in the friend zone. Her daydreaming about Professor Hottie has more spark.
Talon is Professor Hottie and has been intrigued by Rein from day one. But you wouldn't know that on how he acts towards Rein; however, he is right there for Rein when she needs someone. Talon is riddled with guilt from his past and has a hard time moving forward.
Hook, Line, Professor is like no other Student/teacher book I have read. It’s raw and emotional and grips you from the start. Talon and Rein are two broken souls that belong together.
I read this book in one sitting; It's well written, and I loved it. That cliffhanger nearly killed me. I maybe screamed and swore at my kindle. I can't wait to see what happens next.
This is another book I blindly jumped into after seeing forbidden romance mentioned and boy did it deliver 🔥🔥🔥 That ending has me kicking myself because this only just released and now I have to wait who knows how long for the sequel. 😭
3,75 stars⭐️ It really felt like I was reading a story from wattpad. But hey, it definitely held my attention, which is what matters in the end.😂 This is teacher/student romance. They both have a trauma from the past. I liked how he cared about her. And the tension between them.✨️ "Goddamn it, why am I still staring at her? What is it about this girl that affixes me into such a trance? Even in class, I need to persistently caution myself to not look in her direction in fear my eyes will linger a little too long."🫠
What I really hated was that one moment they were talking about how nothing should happen between them, and the next moment they were kissing. Situations like this have happened too many times and that's why it got on my nerves. There were still a few little things that I didn't like, but overall it was an okay book and I will read the sequel because now I'm interested in what will happen.😩
🌸teacher/student 🌸forbidden romance 🌸slow-burn 🌸clifhanger 🌸Dual pov, written in first person 🌸Spice: 🌶🌶.75 🌸OW: he had a girlfriend who died in car accident and he still didn't recover from that, but there isn't any ow 🌸OM: she has a boyfriend at the beginning of a book, but they break-up soon 🌸this book is first in the series and it is not a standalone
I like the storyline BUT it really bothers me when authors don’t do their research. It’s little things but still have an effect on how I see this. It’s about a professor and a student but somehow in a college setting students are very involved in the drama of campus. That makes no sense since jts more of a high school setting. College students don’t typically know about professors personal lives let alone all the professors on campus. Another was Saxton’s desk plate. What is a BA (Hons) ? A bachelors degree? He can’t be a professor with a BA; only Masters and that’s typically an adjunct instructor not associate professor (needs a doctorate). Also there was only one spicy scene in the entire book, and it wasn’t until I got to the end of it. On the next read I hope to see more spicy scenes, really like the storyline though! Didn’t keep me bored and I’m rooting for them!
Student/Teacher romance will always be one of my favourites and Shayla flipping SMASHED IT!!!!!! Did I swoon? Fuck yes Did I cry? YES. More times than I could count Did I get flustered? LORD HAVE MERCY FUCK YES. Did the cliffhanger tare me apart? YES I’M A MESS This is the first book in Rein and Talon’s story and I’m obsessed, I love them soooo fucking much. I’ve never rooted so hard for a couple as I do for them. They have both been through so much shit and they deserve nothing but love and happiness! 🥺 They were 100% meant to be. They don’t just want each other, they NEED one another. I love them sooo much!!!! Also SNOWFLAKE?!?! 🥺😭 Talon’s pet name for Rein is fucking adorable. Every time he calls her it, I SWOON!!!
read part 1 and 2 the first part was more interesting, the second part made me really want to dfn, and I was right. The end was a total no sense mess, and was totally just a daddy-girl erotica without much contents. And the final plot twist was totally no sense, a great putoff that made me question everything I had read. BIG NONONO.
I’m surprised this book has such a high rating… it’s poorly written and all around cringy.
The cliff hanger? Why write not one, but TWO more books about this? The characters are childish and immature for all the spice written in. The dialogue reads like a YA, and a bad one at that. The internal dialogue is so horrible.. I don’t need things over explained and the breaking of the 4th wall makes no sense. Plus there’s several grammatical errors. It’s written like a horny, teenage fan fiction.
I get if you want a spicy read, but there are so many other BETTER reads out there.
ARC REVIEW 5/5⭐️ STEAMY AS HELL 🔥🔥 slow burn professor/student romance but so worth it, the sexual tension between Talon & Rein is unreal 🥵 but the actual sex is just as good. I hope these 2 broken souls get their HEA they both deserve each other. The cliffhanger is WOW 😳. Absolutely amazing story line & I am so excited to find out what happens next. I binge read this book I couldn’t put it down!
Hook, Line, Professor was SO GOOD. Professor- Student stories are my guilty pleasure, and this did not disappoint. It even had a little bit of the hate- to- love aspect, which I just can’t get enough off.
Rein and Talon are so fun together, I just loved their chemistry. At times their story seemed slooooow, and I wanted it to move forward a little faster.
This does end with a cliffhanger, so of course I had to jump right into the next one.
I loved the idea and Talon was very good character! I liked Rein… but she was just not that great to me. She was too up and down and her actions did not match her thoughts! I hope she has a better “growth” in the next book.
3.5 ⭐⭐⭐✨ Hook, line, professor is a student/professor forbidden romance. Rein, one of the art students in the most prestigious college in Chicago trying to get past, over her hurtful past. Far away from her home, now her life consists of her art career, her best friend Paris, her boyfriend - whom she can't think more than as a friend and the physical attraction which she suppose not to have on the hottie department professor Talon, not to mention its not just Rein feeling like that.
What will happen if both the professor and student decides to carry forward their physical attraction risking both their careers? With both Rein and Talon feeling terrified for any of the feelings they might have for each other. Will it be just a sexual attraction or do they have more.
I jumped right into the book as soon as I read the synopsis and I'm gald I did. I'm reading forbidden romance for the first time and officially declaring this trope would be one of my favorites.
I loved the chemistry between the leads and it was beautifully written/portrayed especially the author's choice of words. It was quite nice, I also loved the sense of humor the author used here and there, it was good. All this humor, the spiciness, the way their chemistry is portrayed, make the whole book perfect.
The book has some trigger warnings, do check that before reading the book. This one is the first in this series and this book ended with a major cliffhanger and I can't wait to read the next one!
I have to laugh otherwise I'll cry because this book was pure fucking torture.
I just want to say that I really wanted to love this book, it has my favorite trope of all time for God's sake. This should have been a slam dunk, an easy 5 stars. Australian and British accents? Swoon, bitch I fucking swoon. I was certain I'd be a goner but between the characters physical appearance constantly changing, storyline inconsistencies, the info dumping and the need to over explain what they mean while breaking the 4th wall (babe trust that if I don't know what Venus dimples are I'll do my research there's no need for the Google definition to be so blatantly in my face) this book had me begging for it to end.
The cherry on top? Fifty Shades was referenced with what I'd say is one of the most famous and recognizable quote... I cringed so hard it was a wince. The only redeeming quality this has is the identifiable slangs of each country that demonstrated the research made (I don't know the nationality of the author to see if research was in fact made nor do I care at this point). I genuinely don't understand the rating this book has, I had to physically drag myself to finish it.
I couldn't put this book down. It was incredible from start to finish. It's been a while since I've read a professor / student romance, and this reminded me exactly why I loved the taboo romance trope in the first place.
I absolutely loved everything, the characters, the story, the chemistry between these two characters, the sideline characters, the build up to the steam... Oh, the build up. I read it within two days (would have finished sooner if it wasn't for work)!
I was gutted when I finished especially with the cliffhanger! Because wow, what a book, what a cliffhanger. I need to know the rest of the story.
Shayla, it was incredible! I seriously can't wait for part two!!
I'm a sucker for a good forbidden romance story. Slight age difference? Yes. Enemies to lovers? Hell yes. This book provided all of those tropes in a slow burn that had me turning the pages as quickly as possible to get to the "good stuff."
The issue, one that has convinced me not to buy the second book despite a cliffhanger ending, is the writing. I assume there was no editor available, as the book was riddled with errors: spelling, grammar, run-on sentences with no clear ending, misuse of commas, etc. This book had it all!
I think that despite the eventual well-written smut content, I would not recommend this book to anyone. I'm usually pretty easy to please but there were too many mistakes for me to ignore.
The MC is English and going to school in Chicago but yet her American friends in Chicago all use English terms. The author loves to use nicknames and each character uses about 6 for every conversation and then there is no punctuation for calling a person by their name. The MC is also not very likeable and is very "woe is me". The characters are either having a serious heart to heart conversation in a bar or in a dressing room or they're using a million nicknames for each other.
Ahhhh, but the worst of all... The random chapter that begins and takes place in Ohio in November, in this opening, the MC tries to pet a chameleon that scampers by on the porch.
Ends on a cliff hanger too? Pass. Pass. Pass.

I have fallen in love with Shayla Hart's writing all over again! In her latest book Hook Line Professor, we meet Rein, a strong independent woman studying art. She falls for an unattainable professor who might just be falling for her. But while they navigate the boundaries of their relationship, we also get a glimpse at pain from both their pasts. It is truly well written and easy to get lost in. I could go on as I felt I was watching it take place while getting lost in the reading. As always its a slow building heat of passion between the characters that keep you glued to the pages. I cannot wait for part 2!
Hook, Line,Professor is a heart warning story of two persons, Talon and Rein, trying to suppress what they feel for each other due to the circumstances. But fate have other plans. Read how they suppress their feelings and succumb to the chemistry they have for each other.
"If you're concerned that I'll fall on love with you, you don't have to worry Professor. I have no intention of falling "in love" with anyone ever."
A story that will keep you on the edge of your seat and will read from cover to cover.
WOW WOW WOW!!!! I cannot get enough of Shayla's books they draw me in so quickly, I feel part of the story honestly absolutely fantastic peice of work again Shayla. The way you make me feel the characters feelings, how powerful each chapter is and the ending is just unexpected my mind is blown. I love how the characters are like magnets but don't quite feel it if that makes sense there's a force pulling them together but also forcing them apart at the same time. Each book gets better and better and we can't wait for you to keep writing don't ever stop like ever!!

Wow what can I say shayla hart has done it again 🥰
Another amazing book that had me hooked from the start
I loved the connection between talon and rein There chemistry is amazing even though it starts of Rocky and they both fight there attraction you feel just how deeply they want each other 🥰
And what an ending 😮 I honestly didn’t see that coming I was on the edge of my seat
I can’t wait to read part 2
I honestly would recommend anyone to give this a read it’s simply amazing ❤️
AMAZING! Shayla has only gone and done it again! Broke me, built me up, to leave me hanging in suspense, emotional rollercoaster of emotions and you feel every one as if you are right there along side the characters. So much has been put into their story and it had me hooked from the first word! Finished it all in one sitting I could not put it down! I loved both characters and their story is so captivating. I am so glad there is a 2nd part coming out soon and that their story didn’t end there ❤️
A train wreck grammar and spelling mistakes. Focussing? Focusing* The writer threw all grammar rules out the window and it was maddening.
Story itself read like really bad fanfiction. I think it’s supposed to take place in the states? But this college only had thanksgiving break for a weekend? And also everyone said “arsehole”? It really pulled me out of the story, especially when I was trying to hard not to twitch at the. Horrible. Grammar.
Rein worked very hard to get a full scholarship at Oakhill School of Fine Arts in Chicago. She was able to achieve her dream and although it is not easy to be that far away from home, or financially, art is her biggest passion. However recently she had no luck and a string of misfortunes began for her, which made her doubt everything and want to give up and go home. Surprisingly, the person who advised her against it was a professor she didn't like very much, Talon Saxton. The initial dislike turned into much warmer feelings. But they both have too much to lose and should stay away from each other. Only is it possible when you can't stop thinking about someone?
I have to say that this book is one of the better ones I've read this year. I just couldn't tear myself away from it. I love the plot of the professor and the student and that tempted me, but I didn't expect to fall so much in love with this book. The author built a great story, plus characters that seemed so real. The relationship between Rein and Talon was handled great, we were able to experience it with them. And I have to admit, there was a fire between them, and how bright it burned. I really highly recommend this book. I am looking forward to part two.
OHH MY GOD!! I mean... I can't even start on how phenomenal this book is.... I have read Shayla Hart's every single book... And all of them are amazing.... But this surpasses every one of them... Wow.... Just wow.... This is truly a masterpiece.... There not one bad point about this.... None..... The writing? amazing.... The character and their development? Ohhh DAMN..... the plot? Sizzling..... You really should read this Talon and Rein are so Damn adorable and sweet.... Give this book a chance you won't regret it....
Rein is a very independent women, that has had to work hard to get where she is at in her life. A Straight A student at a preforming art college in Chicago, finds her self daydreaming about Professor Hottie.
Talon, the Professor, has a past of his own which makes him closed off and rude to everyone around him.
❤️🔥 This book is a prefect mix of forbidden love, romance and it has a great storyline. Its wonderful book that I couldn’t put down. Can’t wait for Part 2
Not only did I enjoy this book from cover to cover but every steamy scene every movement every word made you crave and want more. From the chemistry between the characters to pull yourself into the book it made you want to be there it made you want to see it it. There is definitely not enough hours in the day to dream about Professor Saxton and every curve of his amazing body. Cannot wait for book to definitely another great read from Shayla Hart.
Forbidden Romance with a protective alpha hero and a fiesty leading lady.
Rein and Talon both have a secret past. Rein is young and passionate and Talon rude and closed off. There is a thin line between love and hate, the chemistry 🔥 when that line is crossed.
This book was the perfect blend of forbidden, steamy and plot.
Loved the side characters in this book - Wish I had Paris as my BFF!
The medical info is way off, which is always a pet peeve of mine. There are many, many typos. There's way too many cheesy comebacks and I can't stand the nicknames(sugar tits, bitch tits, birds). And there are so many coincidences that it winds up feeling a bit far fetched. Then, when they finally do have sex it's in a bathroom, in his parents' house, with her bent over the sink...like wtf...? Ok then....
I'm not particularly a big fan of dual POV but this book just grabbed my attention. After reading the first chapter I was hooked. I bought the other 2 parts in the story. One of the best book I have read in a long while. The sexual tension between Rein and Talon is flowing through the pages until they caved in. I love professor student trope. I dually recommend this book but must read the 3 parts. I'm actually on part 2 now.
