Shadows and Sorrows

Rate this book
Cocky Wright was Pete Stone’s friend since they first met on a baseball field, a couple of kids with skinned knees, lots of moxie, and not much else. Now Cocky is dead, Cocky’s wife and daughter are in danger, and shady characters are after something Cocky was hiding. Was Pete’s friend dealing secrets to the German American Bund? Was his friend really out to threaten the safety of the country?

Accident or murder? Pete Stone is searching for the truth, once again, and he must solve the puzzle before his pal’s reputation is tarnished forever.

The award-winning Pete Stone, Private Investigator series is set in 1930s Wichita, Kansas. Books 1 and 3 are Kansas Notable titles. All Hallows’ Shadows was the 2020 J. Donald Coffin Memorial Book Award winner and a Midwest Book Award Finalist.

Another enjoyable read by Michael D. Graves. A fun crew of characters, an interesting plot, and some juicy reveals toward the end. Reading the Pete Stone series is like being transported back to 1930s Wichita. The descriptions are vivid and Graves has a way with getting you attached to his characters. I need one more book before I'm all caught up in the series!

Also, do check out the audiobook version of this book. Graves is a great narrator!
