It’s too late to turn back now. The only way out is to survive GremoryLand.
Six old school friends are invited to be the first visitors to GremoryLand, a new horror theme park that promises an experience as unique as it is frightening.
But once they enter the gates the friends realize that this is no ordinary place. Filled with murderous animal mascots, sinister animatronics, and twisted carnival games, the park has become a literal game of life or death. They are trapped, and will have to face their most desperate fears in order to make it out alive.
As the six move through the park, the dangerous attractions start to reference chilling details from their own memories, like Jax bullying Rami, and Zoe’s deeply troubled home life. The friends need to stay united, but GremoryLand will do everything in its power to tear them apart.
To escape GremoryLand, they have to survive their own worst nightmares, and each other.
I am so confused. Who the hell is Eva? She’s not even mentioned in the whole book smh. The scenes are scary and the illustrations are phenomenal. Good story will def continue this series on webtoons.
This graphic novel was a little all over the place, but it did have some interesting ideas in it. The art was interesting and I did like it. I liked the bits that took place in the park but I didn’t care for the past pieces quite so much. I get that a lot of the backstory did become relevant but it felt disjointed and even a little confusing as it went back and fourth. It was called volume 1 and I would be interesting to see if there was a volume 2 which I would also give a try.
I received this book from Netgalley/publisher in exchange of an honest review.
After a lot of frustrating moments I was able to read this one. Just had to re-install my whole ADE and all that. But now I could finally read it and BOY, what a RIDE.
In this one 6 teens are invited to the park. Well, to be exact, one of them is and the others can come along. But will they like this horrifying park? Will they survive when things go very bloody and dark? It was certainly a messed up ride, a lot like a slasher. Because well, holy crap. If you thought things weren’t scary with the rides doing their things, or having guards that aren’t happy with noise… think again when you see several mascots behind you ready to chainsaw you to death. As you imagine there is just not a moment to just breathe. Not if you want to live.
I absolutely loved how we switched POVs, we are mostly seeing things through Zoe’s eyes, but we also get backstories and see how the others experience the park. I loved that we got backstories.. though well, at times they were pretty horrifying or saddened me. There are some shocking revelations in there, but we also learn about characters. Like Rami and him being gay and how he felt when Jax went to the dark side and broke up the friendship (and well the other feelings). Or how Zoe’s homelife just was the worst.
I do have to say that with each twist I was less and less a fan of the group. In the end I had two peeps, Zoe and Bruno that I was OK with and hoping they would get out.
I do have so many questions. Who is Chandler. What happened to Eva and who is Eva. We only see a glimpse of her at the ending and then also get THAT said in the ending so I am like, WAIT, what? Also what is Gremoryland, is it a revenge park? Is it something else? I mean, yes, these kids apparently did something wrong (and some did do something wrong), but to have that happen to them? UMMM. So yeah, I hope that the next volume explains some things!
The art was well done, the style was very fitting for this slasher/scary graphic novel.
But all in all, this was a freaking ride. Scary. Exciting. Shocking. Full of danger and revelations. I need more! I would recommend it.
Gremoryland has great visually appealing artwork which helps with the horror factor. The story seems to have a nice mystery aspect leaving the reader questioning who is behind the park and why each of the participants were chosen. However, only the second question is vaguely answered while the first leaves room for a sequel. I would have preferred both questions be answered and having a sequel be insinuated through the survival of a main antagonist instead.
I feel like the dialogue among the young characters seemed too formal for a group of youngsters (e.g., yes vs yeah). I also feel like there were portions that seemed to have cringey dialogue. One scene has an argument between two characters in which one brings up his own stature only for the other's response to be "I hate people like you, whining about political correctness." Which seems like it doesn't make sense as a response and comes out of nowhere in their argument. Additionally, in between these two speech bubbles there is one coming from the privates of one of the males which comes off as cringey.
As far as the good stuff, it felt like a good mix of horror elements throughout from slasher horror, monster horror, or dummy (or doll) horror. There were plenty of moments involving danger, suspense, mystery, good visuals, and plot twists that kept me from putting the book down. I would recommend the book and I want to read the sequel.

When you start with the premise of a gothically terrifying amusement park, you don't have to do a lot of heavy lifting to create scares. GremoryLand takes that premise and then barrels ahead with the approach of hardcore porn, stitching together as many encounters as possible with the perilous and grotesque as quickly as possible without leaving room for character development. All six main characters are immediately established as broad Types, and flashbacks round out the picture only with strokes as broad as a paint roller. It's not at all clear why these people are a friend group in the first place, which makes the disillusion of their alleged bonds under stress unsurprising and unmoving.
The book is not without its strengths. In particular, the final set piece, contrived though it may be, creates some genuine visceral suspense through the sheer power of the art. But the art, too, suffers in this particular edition; I compared some images to the original publication at Webtoons, where the colors are significantly more vivid. The printing job here is dull and murky, making for an overall lack of visual clarity, a serious liability when navigating dark spaces.
Oh man, about a 4.5 for me. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this concept. The whole thing has this “Until Dawn” vibe, with the group of friends with complicated/strained relationships having a reunion. I love the amusement park. Love the art. The ideas. So much fun. Only lost a little bit cause I feel like some of it might have been a little too heavy handed for me? Not sure yet. Still processing it. Overall really really great though and I’ll definitely be reading the rest of the series.
This felt a bit random and all over the place, but I really liked the horror elements and setting of the theme park.
I don’t think the characters or their backstories were fleshed out enough, it all felt very rushed. Scenes seemed to flick to one another very rapidly too.
Definitely for a younger audience. The story and illustrations were hard to follow and while I got the gist of what was happening and why I never really care about any of the characters.
I picked this up knowing nothing of it's source/inception/etc expecting a fun and spooky romp through a horror theme park... well, there is a horror theme park but I wouldn't necessarily call this fun or a romp.
We follow six friends (former friends?) reuniting (for why? unsure) at a horror themed theme park to do unknown (what is their goal? hang out?)
What unravels is turning these six somewhat likable characters and slowly unraveling them to be horrible people with dark secrets, leaving you almost no one to root for.
Then, it feels like it's leading towards a twist and reveal only to last minute throw in some random character with no context that once could assume fits into the yet to be revealed twist... the twist that never comes.
Apparently this is meant to be the beginning portion of a 3 part story but no where is that referenced in the published book form, calling this "volume one" or "part one" or ending with a "to be continued" or "in the next volume..."
The story just ends a very confusing cliffhanger and I had to go research to see why or if there would be more. Very odd publishing choice.
I only give this 3 stars because the horror was great and the tension was fully present, making it at least an enjoyable read. I want to read more and find out what happens but I need this to find a way for me to care about these characters again. TBD.
Note: I read this through webtoon and considering there are apparently more volumes to be released, this review is for S1 only (out of three of the series).
I LOVED IT It was a torture to have the possibility to read one free episode x day but I did it. The concept is amazing and I loved the creepy theme park place. It was pretty spooky and there is a good story behind all this. What I wanted was more time spent on the attractions, it was all so fast but I like it was focused a lot on the charatcers' backstories. It makes the story so much more complete like this.
All the characters are for me super interesting and everyone has secrets to unveal and reveal. It did of course end with a gigantic cliffhanger but I'm ready to continue my daily read till the end. Will update once V2 appears on GR ;)
Idk man why the sudden new character at the end. I mean there could have been some more clearer clues or at least a one kinda hint to the mystery of this park and why these friends were picked. *dances in everyone I liked is dead and I hardly felt connected to any of the characters to begin with* but hey at least its actually a themepark horror

Thanks to NetGalley and Wattpad Webtoon for the advanced copy.
GremoryLand is a trope-filled horror mystery set in a creepy theme park built just for (torturing) the main characters. Every character is a caricature, think The Breakfast Club turned up to 11, hitting every stereotype relevant to their trope to the point of campiness. I'm giving this 3 stars instead of 4 because I'm unsure if the camp is deliberate but leaning towards it not... the scare were good though. It was a fun romp through the theme park, though I was looking forward to it ending, until it did end - on a cliffhanger.
A cliffhanger that makes it clear the mystery is bigger than you think when you first start the story.
Will I read the next volume? I mean, yeah, I will for sure lol I want to know what is happening and why! If it's as straight-forward as I'm predicting I will be VERY disappointed.
The art was decent for the most part as well, with the whole thing being very reminiscent of Gabriel Rodriguez's art for Locke & Key, Vol. 1: Welcome to Lovecraft (I would not be surprised to learn A. Rasen is a fan of the series).
The whole thing reminded me of a straight-to-video horror film, which I don't mind at all (particularly the movies Blood Fest and Hell Fest). If that's your idea of a good time, you'll enjoy GremoryLand!
DNF: I wanted to like this book, I really did. Trapped in a psycho amusement park and having to make your way through to survive? I love those kind of stories! Unfortunately, the author seemed to care way more about preaching as much as possible than actually defining the park. What’s worse is we’re stuck with characters that are the most generic 2010s-2020s horror movie roster you can get. They range from forgettable (Bekka and Margot) to insufferable (Jax and Zoe) and with one or two exceptions (Bruno’s story was interesting) you really don’t remember anything about them. I think some of that could’ve been made better if the cast was smaller. I love horror, especially with unique settings like this, but this feels way more like a generic horror movie than a unique Webtoon. Stick with Everything is Fine or Lore Olympus for an interesting Webtoon.
2.5 maybe rounded up. I like the freaky horror elements in this even if it felt random and all over the place. The overall story and some of the “speeches” I didn’t care for. Just felt thrown in and I don’t see the need for it nor what it accomplished. Also not a fan of how one person’s trauma led them to a certain event. Not a fan of that tactic being used. But all in all, I couldn’t help but enjoy it as a whole because of the freaky artwork and horror elements. I may try to look it up online because I think the rest is available online, but I won’t be buying them.
I just am making notes of initial thoughts and questions... I doubt this will make sense.
There were flaws in the storytelling. Some things didn't make sense, and the end felt random and rushed. Who was behind Gremoryland? Kinda gives "Saw" vibes, but this didn't make it clear why everyone was there - simply for being part of this friend group? Who is Eva, and when/why did she die?
Also, the book was so dark that I needed to use my flashlight.

I didn't really like this book. None of the characters were likeable and it seemed to skip around to so many parts too fast. There wasn't a good plot that allowed connection to characters.
GremoryLand Volume One, written by A. Rasen, is a captivating graphic novel that transports readers into a nightmarish horror theme park experience. Filled with chilling details, murderous animal mascots, and sinister animatronics, this book takes readers on a terrifying journey through the twisted minds of six old school friends. As they navigate GremoryLand, they must confront their deepest fears and rely on each other to survive.
From the very beginning, GremoryLand grips readers tightly and refuses to let go. The author's ability to create a sense of urgency and danger is commendable. As the friends enter the park, it becomes clear that this is no ordinary amusement park. They quickly realize that their lives are at stake, and the only way out is to confront their own worst nightmares.
The artwork in GremoryLand is visually stunning and adds an extra layer of depth to the story. The graphics are colorful and eye-catching, capturing the eerie atmosphere of the park perfectly. Each panel is meticulously crafted, enhancing the overall reading experience and immersing readers into the horrifying world of GremoryLand.
One of the strongest aspects of this graphic novel is its ability to create relatable characters. The friends' personal histories and struggles are interwoven into the dangerous attractions they encounter. Whether it's Jax facing his past as a bully or Zoe confronting her troubled home life, these details add a realistic touch to the story. Readers cannot help but feel empathy for the characters as they fight for their lives while simultaneously battling their own inner demons.
Furthermore, Rasen's writing keeps readers engaged throughout the entire narrative. The pacing is well-executed, with suspenseful moments balanced by moments of character development and introspection. The dialogue feels authentic, allowing readers to connect with the characters on a deeper level.
Although GremoryLand Volume One delivers an enthralling and thrilling experience, there were a few areas where it fell short. The plot, while intriguing, could have been more fleshed out. Some aspects felt rushed, leaving me wanting more depth and exploration. Additionally, a greater focus on world-building could have enhanced the overall immersion in GremoryLand.
In conclusion, GremoryLand Volume One is a great graphic novel that combines vivid artwork, engaging storytelling, and relatable characters. It successfully creates a sense of dread and excitement as readers accompany the six friends on their journey through the nightmare-infested theme park. Despite some minor shortcomings in terms of plot development and world-building, this book is an enjoyable read for both fans of horror and newcomers to the graphic novel genre. Brace yourself for a spine-chilling adventure that will leave you eagerly awaiting the next installment of GremoryLand.

THIS IS SUCH A GOOD STORY at first I thought it was just a story with much gore but without a consistent plot (like playground or something similar) but the story became really intriguing!. I thought it was gonna end with the twist being "the father has also schizophrenia and created all of this because of his condition and his grief", then when the supernatural plot started to develop I was quite underwhelmed by it, because it looks to me like a sort of patch just to prevent any criticism BUT THE ENDING WAS TRIPPING Margot shooting at the lense Rasen written on her shirt the logo at the start being the inside of the mask We wear when we read. the fact that some characters fate was shaped by the viewers comments, some sort of gory big brother. It gives black mirror vibes in the best way possible. really really mind blowing (even tho I still don't fully understand what that entity is, some sort of demon that transcends both our reality and the one of the story? Or maybe he is the writer?)

Six high school "friends" are invited to try out the new GremoryLand Theme Park by a mysterious entity. They're picked up in a limo and after an unknown amount of time, are dropped off at the park entrance with no instructions other than they must get through the park in order to exit. Then the horrors begin. At first the team thinks it's all in good fun, until they break a rule or two, ending in several of their deaths. All of the rides end up being deeply personal and full of real trauma, forcing the friends to try and work out what is happening before it's too late. Then the story abruptly cuts to an adult who appears to be looking for the group of six and reveals they have been kidnapped, AND she's trying to solve her own daughter's murder and elludes to the group knowing more about it than they seem. Then the story flashes back to the group for a cliff hanger end with some very creepy revelations. Overall I enjoyed to graphic. The art style does a great job of feeling bright and friendly then changing to fiendish very quickly. I'm not entirely sure I'm super into the storyline because it feels like the reader was dropped in the middle of an already established story. However, this was just the first volume, so I will hold my judgement until the next release. If you're a fan of Five Nights at Freddy's or Chilling Adventure's of Sabrina, you will likely enjoy this creepy romp. Reader Beware, sometimes our friends are the real monsters.
