This one heads to the Port Custodial office and asks for help from the military custodian on duty.

Brawny but awkward Ainar isn't sure why this human is insisting on needing his help for sleeping, but he's happy to assist someone as delicate and pretty as the human colonist. And when he figures out what she really wants...well.

Surely this is a dream come true.

This novella is stand-alone, high-heat and low-angst, which means it's pretty much awesome. You do not have to read other Risdaverse novellas in order to read this one (though characters from other stories will drop in).

She was the sluttest slut that ever slutted… and it was fun to read 😂 Risdaverse for the win again. Nice girl needs to get laid in the next 24hrs so she doesn’t waste a pregnancy shot, cue precious alien with all the golden retriever vibes to the rescue.

The heroine: Naomi - she was abducted by aliens and spent a few years as a slave before being rescued by another group of aliens. She ended up on Risda 3, a planet that is a sanctuary for rescued human females and others. She was given a farm and has been running it for over a year. Though she is lonely and wants a baby to break up the boredom of her days.

The Hero: Ainar - he is one of the custodians on Risda 3. They are the Messakah males that have been charged with ridding the place of mercenaries and keeping law and order on the planet. He is from a lower caste so he couldn’t get anywhere with his military career, so he decided to become a custodian at the outpost on Risda 3. Ainar has had no luck with females in the past. He is too eager and comes on too strong.

The Story: Ainar is nervous when Naomi comes in to the office, so he misunderstands Naomi meaning when she comes into the office to find someone to help her get pregnant. However, he does notice right away that Naomi is his fated mate. When she gets her point across as to what she really wants, he thinks it is his every fantasy come to life.

I love that Ainar thinks he isn’t worthy of Naomi because of his family name and caste. He is adorable and when Naomi wants to get busy right then and there, he thinks he is being punked by his friends. Naomi has spent all the money she earned on a fertility shot and the time to get pregnant is right away, so she needs it to happen, or she loses her chance. This story is pretty short, the audiobook is only 3 ½ hours, so I really wish it was longer, but from the way this couple starts out, their relationship moves quickly.

This book was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Jillian Macie and Mason Lloyd. I love Mason Lloyd for alien romance, he has a nice deep voice and speaks in a cadence that works well for aliens. Jillian Macie has a good voice and sounds age appropriate for the story. She portrays emotions through her voice very well.

Ah. These Risdaverse books are guilty pleasures. And this one? Well, it was really ALL pleasure 😉.

Naomi (32) wants to have a baby… badly. So badly that she’s spent credits (money) on fertility shots so it can happen. You see, she’s lonely on the farm she owns. While being around her animals is nice, she wants a kid. What better way to get one than by asking a male to make a kid with her?

Except, the male she asks backs out. So now she’s desperate. She goes to the Port Custodians to get help, and what do you know? Ainar (30) is more than willing to help her with anything she needs.

ANY 👀 THING 😉.

Ainar can’t believe his luck. This gorgeous human has come to ask for help from the Port Custodian, and as a proud military custodian, he’s gonna help her. Good thing he’s the only one on duty.

He’s just gonna need her help guide him with getting her pregnant 😅👀 and she’s more than willing to help him pleasure her 😉.

What I liked/loved:
—the 🔥. Oh Lawd. Have mercy on my kindle 🥵. This is juicier, wetter, and steamier than a fruit melting in a hot sauna 🫠<< like that 🔥. If you’ve wanted a Risdaverse to be 🔥, this is the best one to read for that 😅

—-his obsession with making her 💦. Besides the first time that was over, way too quickly, he becomes obsessed with ensuring she feels pleasure 😉. She doesn’t even even mind not coming up for air 🤷🏻‍♀️. That’s the kind of energy we need in heroes 👏🏻🤡

—SPURSSSSS 👀. I’m so jealous. This doesn’t really exist lol. Imagine? 👀

—his tail needs its own book 🤣. That thing made me happier than a glass of water on a hot day 🤣. The amount of thumping brought a smile to my face 🥰🥹. I especially loved when he used it to make sure she stayed open for him 😉

—piercings 😉. Well. Duh 🫠

—the times I 🤣. Ermagod 🤣 when she can’t stop talking about d sizes and measurements… I can’t 🤣. Girl. Staaaaaphhh 🤣

What I wanted more of: SPOILERS
— now I know that this is about her getting pregnant, but I wish we had seen more of her actually pregnant, including how attentive Ainar could be during all of this

— an epilogue more into the future 😭. The one we get is cute, but I wanted more, extended would be highly appreciated 👀😅🤣

Naomi paid for expensive fertility treatments, but when the donor that she had selected changes his mind, she needs to find a replacement donor quick. Ainar works as an officer in Port. When Naomi asks for help finding a donor, he volunteers for the job.

I didn't like this novella much. The characters were nice, but had no depth or chemistry, the story was rushed, and the constant mentions of the mmc's wagging tail were ridiculous. I've liked most of the Rhisdaverse books, but this one isn't for me.

Cute, simple and sweet. Dixon said she wanted to write a story of a nice guy who meets a nice girl and they have a baby, and so she did. Lots of steam, silly moments and a virginal, slightly insecure but very earnest hero…with dick piercings.
And they lived happily ever after, the end.

Yay new Risdaverse release day! The h has gotten a fertility shot because she wants a baby but her plan has fallen through with the male she had lined up to help, so she turns to the Port Custodians for help and finds our H. All the baby making happening in this one with an adorable and virgin H to boot who's all about the h. The h was great too, but she didn't want anything beyond the baby making help initially until the H won her over with how sweet and interested he was. Also, H is very respectful of h's boundaries and concerned about pushing her which leads to a tiny bit of miscommunication, quickly resolved. Steam, humor, and awwwww. The epilogue is a little over a year out and perfectly fits their HEA. No ow/om drama, H is a virgin and h is not, obviously no bc since this is about the opposite.

This was short and cute. I mostly liked the dopey, innocent, puppy dog of an H and I enjoy a pregnancy plot line so this was an easy, quick read.

Also it’s pretty fitting that a Ruby Dixon book would complete my reading challenge for the year since I’m pretty sure she’ll be my most read author of the year with my attempt to re-read the whole IPB/IH universe and catch up to the new releases 🫡 it’s been a journey.

I love his tail to death. And he's so adorable, innocent and sincere. There needs to be an award/rank system for which book bf has the best tail. I REALLY wish human men had tails my godddd, we're really missing out.

For a short, simple novella such as this one, story-wise I give it 3.5 - 4 stars. Ainar's tail stole the fucking show for me 🥺

Naomi really wants to get pregnant so she has a family of her own after being ripped away from everything she knows for a long couple of years, even if a man isn't a part of that equation. Hot and horny from the hormone shots she received and with her fertility window closing in, she's desperate to get a baby inside her ASAP before it's too late. Enter sweet, innocent Ainar. This is such a short story, if I say anymore, the book will be over lol - so read it! It's cute, and it's probably the safest novella I've come across of Ruby's (I've read 3 of these barbarian ones so far and they are much darker than this).

That little tattoo explanation part made me want to hold this precious man inside my heart 🥺

I rec this book - it's hot as fuck and sweet as honey ❤️

Overall, this was super cute and funny! Despite the title and cover, this isn't about a pregnant FMC. It's about a woman who takes a heat-inducing fertility shot, and has a very short window in which to get knocked up.

Our FMC is Naomi - but you can just call her Charity, because she needs ✨donations✨ if you KWIM 😏.

Who What is our gal-on-the-prowl to do? Enter (npi) Ainar. If he were any more of a golden retriever, it would be creepy. His tail even wags when he's excited. Which is often. Honestly, he's just too endearing.

And that kinda became the problem for me. Naomi wasn't as compelling, but everything was about her. And he's so desperate for her love, that he agrees to any of her terms. It skated the line of her taking advantage, IMO.

Especially regarding (spoilers)their baby. I could understand that she didn't want a father involved when she was just looking for a donor or ONS. But after she knows Ainar, knows he's a great guy, and they're in a relationship... it seemed a bit cruel to still demand he not be involved. Cruel to her future child, too - who will be half Mesakkah, a culture she knows nothing about.

Worry not, my small gripes are ultimately moot points, because this book is as sweet and fluffy (and oddly sexy) as cotton candy. ☁️🍭

Part of the Risdaverse series, this novella (about 100 pages) wasn’t a fav for me, but it’s a fun series overall! Pretty much just her trying to get pregnant the whole read, which I mean I’m not surprised with considering the title. Naomi is a human on Risda III, the farming planet, and desperately wants to get pregnant. She spent a year’s income from her farm on a fertility shot when her intended hired partner is no longer available last minute. She finds Ainar and asks if he’s up for the task, right then and there on his work desk!

Naomi has a problem: she received her long-awaited fertility shot, but the male who promised to inseminate her skipped town. The clock is ticking, the shot is only good for 24 hours. Desperate to not waste this opportunity, Naomi goes to the Port Custodial Office with the intention of propositioning one of the Port Custodians. Ainar is a young Mesakkah whose family name means little on Homeworld, but he enjoys his work as a Port Custodian. He’s always thought Naomi was beautiful, but has been so hesitant to initiate any contact. When Naomi asks Ainar to impregnate her, he readily agrees. But it’s not so simple separating burgeoning feelings from the physical act of reproducing.

-This was a delightful and short story, so I’ll keep this review brief. This is a Risdaverse novella, roughly 100 pages long, and can be easily read in about an hour. You don’t need to read any other story beforehand, it’s totally standalone.

-If you enjoy reading about pregnancy and babies, you’ll love this story! I’ve never had a problem reading about pregnancy in romance novels, even the surprise pregnancy trope doesn’t bother me. This book is literally all about Naomi trying to get pregnant, meeting Ainar, realizing he is a total catch, and them trying to figure out how to have a relationship with each other. The timespan for the novella is short, about a week and a half, so it’s definitely instalust.

-The spice is cute, descriptive, and pretty standard for a Ruby Dixon novella. My favorite scene between Ainar and Naomi actually takes place at the end of the book, and although it’s really short I found it to be the hottest interaction thus far.

-Naomi is a very warm and kind FMC, she’s a joy to read about. I’m kind of sad she’s featured in such a short story, because I think a full length novel would be really fun to read about. Ainar is a total babe. He’s so shy, and genuine, and very enthusiastic concerning Naomi. Ainar is the type of MMC that makes me literally swoon and sigh.

-Risdaverse novellas are among my favorite scifi romance stories to read by Ruby Dixon, and this one will definitely be re-read at some point. If you’re looking for a quick, cute, steamy read, you can’t go wrong with “When She’s Pregnant”.

Yes! This is the novella vibe that I am feeling rn.

On one level, this book is exactly what it says on the tin. It was a one hundred page novella about our heroine getting pregnant.

On another level, it was such a bonkers story. From the moment that our human lady, hopped up on alien fertility treatments, entered this planet’s version of a police station for some ‘assistance’, I was dying 🤣 Just literally laughing out loud, dying.

You could argue that most of the blue alien MMCs in this series are golden retriever heroes. But Ainar takes the cake—he went so far beyond golden retriever, he was in Doug, the talking golden retriever from Up, territory. He was so so sweet and earnest, had such a Boy Scout-ish approach to helping ‘Colonist Flannigan’ with her “problem” but was also so so horny and eager—the way they literally effed for hours, amazing. Ainar would definitely get the ‘Most Improved Virgin Hero’ award.

The book was an instant mood booster, low-angst, and handled all the baby-making plot points with a large dose of feel-good maturity while still being comedy gold. And I loved it! Like a lot of the books in this series, I think it can be read as a standalone so go forth and be merry!

I needed a quick hit and Ruby Dixon is always my dealer of choice. Her reads are addicting and this was a bit of fun I needed. Definitely recommend for novella length romance with a sweet alien loving.

Ainar is so freaking cute! Honestly, I don't find anything wrong with what he did when he supposedly 'ghosted' (I don't find it so) Naomi. I mean, come on, I find it unfair to just have only one side having to reach out to the other person. That's just a breeding ground for stupid miscommunications.

But aside from that, it was a fine novella. Nothing much that stood out aside from Ainar.
