A quiet cowboy trying to save his floundering ranch, a determined woman on a mission, and a necklace whose secret could unite their hearts–or tear them apart.
Four Kings Ranch, which has been in Jed Hoyt’s family for three generations, is struggling. There’s one solution, though, that his family believes can change Jed can marry Minnie Shaw, daughter of the railroad owner, and bring the railroad closer to their ranch.
Ella Carmine is in constant conflict with the dreams her mother has for her and the dreams she has for herself. One night, two masked men arrive at her residence and steal her mother’s necklace right off her neck. Seeing this as a chance to finally prove her worth to her mother, Ella is determined to recover the necklace. She secretly follows the masked men to Four Kings Ranch and hatches a plan.
Claiming she needs employment, Ella is hired by Jed to be a maid at Four Kings Ranch. Ella is nothing like Minnie, and Jed’s curiosity is piqued as the two get to know each other. And though Ella came to track down her mother’s necklace, she finds that she enjoys working on the ranch. Her eyes are opened to possibilities that she never knew existed, and she begins to wonder if the ranch might have more to offer than simply the return of her mother’s necklace.
But Jed’s mother isn’t about to let a maid ruin the ranch’s prospects, and her sabotaging brings everything to a boiling point. Secrets are exposed, lives are in danger, and Jed and Ella must make difficult choices. And soon they learn that the necklace holds plenty of its own secrets–secrets that could unite them… or tear them apart forever.
This historical set novel is a clean romance and has plenty of adventure and excitement.
I really enjoyed the build up of the sweet romance between Ella and Jed, but also the detailed descriptions of other supporting characters that the couple interact with during the story.
If you enjoy novels set in the wild west/prairie time period then I'm sure you will enjoy this one. It's a standalone novel as well.
This book was a real hoot to read! Loved it - lots of mystery, excitement, and intrigue. Ella Carmine's mother has a beautiful heirloom necklace, and one night 2 masked armed men come in and steal it. Nothing else, just the necklace. Jed Hoyt and his brother Carl loved their mother, and her necklace (yes the same necklace!) has been stolen years ago. They are determined to get it back for her. Who does the necklace really belong to, and what happened? Ella is determined to get her mother's necklace back also. When she meets Jed, there are sparks. Ella puts herself in a situation where she has access to the necklace. Secrets abound!
This was an exciting story about two families that both thought they owned the same necklace. Two brothers took the necklace at gunpoint, and gave it to their mother, who believed it was a family heirloom. One of the daughters in the family that they held up followed them to their ranch. Later, she gets hired as a maid, so she can steal the necklace back for her mother. They also believe it is a family heirloom. As she works there, she begins to fall in love with Jed, the youngest brother. Excellent story!
Jed and Ella have quite a story. Two Hearts Joined by Destiny is an exciting story. There’s plenty of action. There is enough mystery and uncertain claims to keep the reader engaged. The book even includes a love story that grows and expands. If you like stories with an involved plot and quite a few things to figure out and a happy ending, you’ll surely like this book.
I enjoyed this story with its mystery and conflict built around the issue of who was the rightful owner of a piece of jewelry. I enjoyed, not only the characters, but how they dealt with their relationships with their siblings. A great read.
The cover for this book is very eye catching as it is bright yellow with sunflowers and a horse in the background. The story is a western adventure and will keep you glued to the pages. Janelle hit a in the park home run with this!
Janelle Adams is one of my favorite authors. Never a dull moment in reading her books! Two Hearts Joined by Destiny has a bit of a mystery along with the historical romance western setting. Happy reading!
