In 1942, private detective Oscar Jade is hired by a wealthy collector to retrieve one of the most rare and priceless automobiles in existence - stolen from his garage by his own grandson. Jade travels to Oklahoma - the last known location of the grandson, and the car - and follows a trail of shady contacts to discover a devious and sprawling criminal conspiracy, where anything you want is there for the taking...if you have enough money, and don't care who gets hurt.
Loved it! Gritty circumstances, hard-boiled dialogue; first person POV tale based in Miami during WWII. I was utterly convinced by the historical setting and details of the PI trade. I would describe this as a 'procedural,'for those who care. Read / no-read? Definitely read folks. Out.
Mark Loeffelholz does it again with no-holds barred Oscar Jade saga. Oscar only takes prisoners when it suits him and makes sure they get their comeuppance. Keep it up, Mr. Loeffelholz!
