Her magic is outlawed, and his love for her is forbidden.
Farrow must repress her magic for fear of the King's wrath. But she secretly bakes balms for the villagers' pain into the rustic breads at her parents' bakery. When she happens upon a Fae Prince in disguise on the edge of the wall between worlds, he ends up obligated to her.
Blackthorn's curiosity about the pretty mortal straying close to the wall ruins his mission and places him under a debt of obligation to the green-eyed temptress. Under her power, he travels home with her to save her friend's life. And once he learns what Farrow really is, he is determined to stay a little longer and help her harness her magic. The only challenge is resisting the sizzling attraction between them. After centuries of boredom, he finds that Farrow excites something in him even beyond his desperate need to claim her.
But Blackthorn has his own reasons for being on her side of the wall. And ultimately Farrow may be the one to pay the price for letting his magic in.

I love it! It has all the mystery & magic you expect with the Fae! There is a wall that has been put up by the King to cut off the Fae from the human world. A prophecy of a Fae blade against the king's throat will be his undoing. It was declared when Farrow was a child. All magic has been banned & all magic practicing people were run out of the country. Now, the school of magic sits so run down & empty it is sad. Farrow has a little magic but not much, she bakes a little in her treats sometimes to help people, just not enough to be noticed. Hers is connecter to plants. Farrow, a baker's daughter searching for herbs & things out in the field near the wall sees a man. She discovers it is one of the Fae who are no longer allowed on this side of the wall. She hears the King's guard & helps him hide in the trees while offering him some of the bread she baked. When one of the guard dogs starts barking she talks to them to let them know she is looking for herbs. She is known so they tell her to hurry home to meet the curfew & go on with their patrol. The man, Thorn tells her he is beholden to her & puts a silver bracelet on her wrist, which she learns later will not come off. When she looks back he is gone. She finishes her gathering & sees a plant she has never seen before. She takes it with her to try it in some of her new ideas. The King's baking contest will be in few days & she will be in it. Thorn is back on his side, wondering about Farrow. He eats the bread & is surprised at the how good it is. He thinks about how bored he was until met her. He thinks about how his father, the King, will be so unhappy he failed his mission. He reaches to his pocket for the poisonous flower he was going to slip into the man-King's food. There is no human cure known for it. He is surprised to find it gone. He tries to think of where he might have lost it. She makes some new treats with this plant but hasn't had time to test it. She keeps it in the back. She goes to run some errands leaving her friend Jericho watching the store. He helps out & sometimes grabs a snack. Her parents have hoped they will fall in love & marry but, she just sees him as a friend. When she gets back she sees her new treat nibbled on by rats but it is dead. Then she notices one is missing. She finds Jericho on the floor in the storeroom. He is coughing up blood & in so much pain. She calls for her parents & goes to get the doctor. He tells them he can do nothing for him & to just make him as comfortable as they can. She thinks of one way, to help. She runs to the wall & uses her magic to get the Ivy to make a ladder. She goes to the other side. Elves spot her & are going to kill her. They take her to a village square. She tells them she is looking for Thorn. She says he is beholden to he & she has come to collect. When he comes to find out what is going on she tells him her friend is dying & asks him to help him. The King & Queen are not too sure she is not a spy. The Queen wants her to bake her something to prove she is just a baker's daughter. She does & adds a little of her happiness into which the Queen finds good. They tell Thorn to go fix this. They ride his steed Echo to the wall & he has a way through. They come into the back room Where Jericho is on a Couple of blankets. Thorn gives her the antidote, she gets Jericho to drink. She tells them Thorn is from a caravan that had been passing. He will stay as long as it takes for him to get better. Thorn has been invited by her parents to dinner & stay out in the barn. Echo shrinks into a cat when no one is looking. She brings him extra blankets later that night. It is not like what he is used to as he is Prince Blackthorn, but it does not bother him. He finds he likes the cozy environment. They both try to not get to fond of each other. They both know he can not stay & she cannot go with him when he leaves. He tells her he has a surprise planned for her tomorrow. She wakes up a little later than usual. He has already told her parents they are going herb hunting for some ingredients for the contest tomorrow. He takes her to the old school of magic to teach her about her magic. He tells her about how the King ruined many lives with his wall. Families had been torn apart because if they were Fae & mortal they were ripped apart anyway. He didn't let them stay together. He killed a lot of people. He tells her his magic is with animals & shows her. She tells him hers is with plants. He shows her how to fight with plants. They notice it getting dark. They pick some herbs to make it look like they had been gathering herbs. She finds one that looks interesting. He tells her it is spicy, not poisonous. She tells him, she is going to try it with chocolate. He is not too sure it will work. She tells him some things work well together if you get them a chance. They call to Echo & he transforms back into a steed, They hurry back to her house to beat the King's curfew. The next day is the bake off. Jericho is well enough to make it to the contest, to sit on a blanket & watch with her parents. She is using her spicy & chocolate cake idea with Thorn as her assistant. When the time comes she is one of the 3 finalists. She goes out the back to get some air. Thorn finds her & has her in his arms when Jericho finds them. He tells them he will do be right her, he loves her. She is in the middle of her finalist bake, she catches Thorn trying to put the flower in the cake she will serve the King & his court. She is very hurt but stops him. She bakes the truth about what the King did to the Fae & to his people into the cake. The king tastes it first & sees what everyone else will see & tries to stop everyone from eating it. Thorn is discovered & grabs a server to hold a the King's throat. She uses the magic he showed her to stop him & tells the court to eat the cake & see what really happened. The King's son has the King arrested & Thorn is released. The contest is finished, Farrow wins. The King's son tells Thorn there will be peace between their countries, the wall torn down. He asks Farrow to be a counselor of the crown. Thorn goes bout making good by asking her parents, his parents, then making sure the King's son for their blessing Farrow be his bride. Later when he has made it all ok, he goes to her window on Echo, who is now a Pegasus, he asks her marry him. She agrees. Later, at a gathering for both realms to get together the Fae King & Queen tell Thorn the are going to resign & let the 2 of them take over. I love it!
This is a wonderful read; the plot and the characters are addictive reading you’ll enjoy This was a simply wonderful read and I do not want to spoil any of it for you so will try and be particularly careful about what I discuss so that I do not spoil the read for future readers. This is a simply wonderfully written story the main characters are the Fae Prince Thorn who has grown up in a life where he has always had what he wanted when ever he wanted, the concept of doing without of having to wait are a foreign and unknown concept to a man that has grown up with anything there for the asking.
Farrow is a baker and Fae Prince Thorn have lived different lives but now the two who are a couple and are lovers have decided that they are going to take out the King of Faircoweather which is by no means an easy feat. The two lovers have planned the situation down to the very last detail and ensure he expresses what he thinks of this under.
I guarantee that you will thoroughly enjoy this book you will love the story and the characters and this will allow you to read of the Fairweather Kingdom and also about the Fae Prince Thorn.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
Great characters, perfectly matched, love the ending. Arrogance meets Humble, the haves and have-nots, are just a few of the many comparatives I feel fit Blackthorn and Farrow. Their story in very informative and interesting as they surprisingly learn from one another and accept how well they work together. She adds heart to all his muscle as they bridge the gap of separation with some risky adventures, tough decisions, find love along the way and open up to their magic.
Tasha Black has given us another fabulous adventure. The human King has outlawed magic but that didn't make it disappear from his world. Farrow instills her magic to do good in her sweets she sells in her families bakery. Blackthorn, is on an assassins mission, he's a Fae Prince, and can't hide from Farrow's sight. Prince Thorn is a charming character, Farrow is the sweetest soul. A cute sweet story.
The pacing was not great. It was going good and then it felt like everything happened so fast near the end that it just felt very rushed. I think the book could've been a lot better if was just longer. It could also use a bit more depth. More background.
But with that said I did like it. It was something different and I liked the whole idea of the book.
There is some spice but it's kinda mild. Maybe like 1,5/5.
Enjoyable quick read!! This was a great read, I smiled throughout the book! The world building was amazing and I felt that some of the magic was different than I have read about before. I’ve been in the longest reading slump(months) since I finished college, so reading Bound to the Fae Assassin was a great way to bring me back into the world of fantasy and reading! I just wish the book was longer because I really enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this book very much! The bakery setting made everything very cozy and the relationship between Farrow and Blackthorn was well written. The ending felt a bit rushed but would re-read no doubt!
