Valkrst’s Flight

The book that I chose to read is called Valkrist Flight. I chose this book because I like to read fantasy and it is very interesting because at the back of the book, it said “Journey to the world of magical horses” so I am interest in horses that's why I choose it. The author of the book is Felicity Brown and the illustrator is Spoops.
The main character in the story is Emma Ronald, the girl who is not a normal person and have powers but she did not know it. The antagonist is Colm; Emma’s brother. He is selfish, heartless, and careless. There are more characters who are not too much important and they are Emma’s uncle, aunt, and Emma’s friend which is the boy.

Emma, who lives on a stud farm. She is a very nice girl and kind to others. One day a horse in the stud got pregnant. But nobody knew why or how the horse got pregnant! So Emma gave a promise that she will look after the horse with her life and she did. One day the horse gave birth and died. The foal was very healthy!

Days later Emma woke up at midnight and she heard some horse sounds outside and when she looked outside, her brother Colm was taking the horse out! Emma came outside and fought with her brother. The next day Emma saw a girl named Rose near one of the horses and they became friends. She gave her a notebook and inside the notebook, Emma wrote down songs, quotes, and what happened in her dreams at night! One day Rose disappeared and never came back! Emma was very lonely.

One day, Colm took the notebook and Emma tried to get the book back. But than Colm made Emma hit a candle and the stud farm got on fire! The book that Rose gave Emma was burned in the fire. Emma’s uncle was very mad and asked who did that. Colm said Emma did that. Emma was grounded and had to do the housework and not go to school. She was very sad because she lost her friend, her horse, the stud farm, and the foal.

She started visiting an old grandmother’s house and she was talking very strangely about girl warriors. That day Emma had a strange dream about her friend telling her that she is a valkyrie and that her friend is not real. She is a character that Emma dreamed! After the dream, Emma ran away from home and she saw a flying horse! She rode the horse and the horse took her to a place where there are a lot of valkyries!

She talked with the royal valkyries and they said that she is too young to be a valkyrie right now but when she get older she can be a valkrist! When Emma got home, her uncle and aunt were worried. She told the truth that she hadn’t burned the stud farm and Colm got punished. The valkyrie said the book that Emma’s friend had given her couldn’t be burned because it had been made by the valkyries.

The most interesting part in the story is that when she flew with the horse, the book described a scene that looked like a galaxy with a beautiful sky and winds. The book tells that whether you are on the dark side or the light side, if you try to do better than your best, and never give up, you will achieve. I think people who are interested in Harry Potter or people who like fantasy would want to read it.

I really enjoyed reading this book because it was so interesting and I love to read books about adventures. Also the story tells that whoever you are/wherever you are, you can lie to people and the lies are get big when you lie more and more. Finally all lies will be revealed.

I was worried when I started this book. After the wonderful original adventures in the first one, I thought that going into the “real world” would cause it to have a much more basic story. So many magic horse books follow the line of “girl meets magic horse, girl believes in magic horse, girl must keep magic horse secret from her family”, but this is much more original and interesting than that. I also appreciate that it didn’t shy away from heavy topics like death and sickness.
I actually enjoyed this book even more than I enjoyed the first one. It was much more horse centered all the way through the book, while the horses really were only in a few chapters of the first one. One of my complaints about the first book was spotty pacing, but this book was evenly paced all throughout and didn’t have that rushed feeling towards the end as the first one did.

You thought Ryan Star was the dark horse on the second season of Rockstar? Well this is the dark horse of novels! One day I came across this book and jokingly picked it up. To my surprise Emma's empowering journey of self discovery and Felicity Brown's magical imagination, inspired me to never give up no matter how difficult your situation may be because eventually things will go your way, eventually magic will strike unexpectedly. A You got to pick yourself up because with wings you can fly.
Enjoy this read. Enjoy your company. Enjoy life.
The journey awaits...

I read this series as a kid and this is my attempt to review it just now:

I remember the injustice of the fire being blamed on our main character stressed me out so much lol

Valkyrist is not as central to the story as most horses are in this series but I loved the way that the beginning of the book was a lot more realistic barn life and then later on in came the magical elements.

Just finished my first Bella Sara book, and I was impressed! I got my oldest daughter into Bella Sara many years ago, buying her the stuffed horses, the cards, a nightgown... you name it. How surprised was I to find that it is also a book series? I found three of the books at my local used book store, and picked them up, not even checking the price for my youngest, a horse-crazy toddler (must run in the family)!

The story opens kind of sad, with Emma remembering the family she lost in a car accident. But a new friend and a new foal keep her occupied, even if her aunt, uncle, and cousin are harsh and unloving. When an accident sets the barn on fire, and Emma looses everything she could still call hers, a strange visit teaches her to follow her heart and become one with her lost heritage.

A sweet story of finding who you are, and trusting in the goodness of others. The magical ending was charming and leads to a curiosity to explore Bella Sara's world further with a free download code at the end of the book. My youngest may be a little young for this, but with some help for her sister, this could be a fun inter-generational activity.

So good!!

Emma’s parents died when she was younger. Now she’s a farm girl. When she finds out Dowager, one of the horses somebody boards there, is going to have a foal, she’s stunned. She meets a new friend who disappears often. Then, something tragic happens. The newborn foal is safe. But Dowager is a different story. Emma’s adventures and tragedies last on.

This book is great! (Well, that’s why I made it a five star.🙄😜😁) But one of the things that confuses me is... Valkrist... is only in one scene. It’s a terrific book, honest. It’s just that part is a little confusing.

Haha. Kate wanted to read some new horse books. I would almost give this a 1, as it was the most depressing story for a young child to read. Orphaned main character, horse becomes pregnant when it is out in the woods (this lead to a great discussion with my 6 yr old), horse dies in childbirth, barn burns down and foal injured, extended family shun main character. But Kate liked the fantasy part of it and of course in the end everything is perfect. But strange series….
