Harmony, a magic horse, assists a young girl, Jillian Frouda, in her encounters with the evil Ivenna and her attack wolves, who are holding Jillian's parents captive.
The continuation of Jillian and Conall’s story from Bella’s Gift and one of my favorite books as a kid—seriously, I read this one as much if not almost more then the first book, it’s so good. Pepper is so obnoxious though, lol. He’s just a stubborn, rebellious little brat who still makes me laugh.
Once again we learn more about the world of North of North which feels so vast and rich I’m really bummed this place and tales were never taken further then in this series, the action was solid, and it’s just overall an exciting and heartwarming story about belonging and finding your family no matter what.

Pepper's Quest is a cute kids book about a girl named Jillian looking for her parents with a horse named Pepper. On the way, she must once again defeat the wolf-riding sorceress Ivenna who held her captive in the previous book to use her magic for evil. Since birth, Jillian has had the ability to summon friendly animals to her at will.
It's based off the Bella Sara website/card game, but as far as books promoting games go, it's pretty good. Definitely a KIDS book. The characters have distinct personalities but aren't really that deep or thought out. The book's plot is interesting and has a surprising amount of action and thought put into it for such a short, easy book. My 8 year old sister loved it.
The book is a sequel to Bella's Gift, #1 of the Bella Sara books. The Bella Sara "series" is made up of a lot of different stories that don't all connect, so you can go straight from #1 to #8 without missing anything.
Some parts may be too scary for younger children. An evil witch threatens to make her wolves eat the Travelers' children (Jillian defeats her before she can do anything of the sort, but, still, a bit hard to stomach) and there's a scene where they have to fight with a huge bird in which one of the characters is injured. I recommend reading it first just to make sure it's appropriate for your child's age, but there's nothing that bad in it.
3 stars for an okay plot, good characters (for a kids book), and good writing. 1 more for the wolf-horse named Conall. I love that guy.
I read this series as a kid and this is my attempt to review it now:
This was my favorite book of the series (and the first I read despite being the eighth). I loved that in this one the titular horse was playfully stubborn and annoying to begin with, but gradually Jillian and Pepper become friendly. I loved the plot and the way it finished out what started with Jillian in Bella's Gift. And Conall was always my favorite so I'm glad he reappeared in this.
I like Reay Bella Sara that's so cool and so fun to read and I love all the different horses that have the different coats and different spells and beautiful colors and just a beautiful vibrant world I mean oh my world I would love to go on this book I would love to own one of those horses they are so cute it's so beautiful and majestic
