Rose

After a lifetime of suffering, I'm ready to end it all…Preferably before my Trial begins.

I'm more useful dead than alive—Death is demanding my soul as payment for a debt he believes my family owes, and Ronan, the cold-blooded dhampir who can't seem to stay away from me, can help end my pain.

But when the call to Trial comes sooner than expected, I must answer and risk Death's wrath, and the fate of those I love most. Ronan’s vowed to protect me...but the ice in his veins has turned to fire and his need for me has the power to set us both ablaze.

As everything I believed is tested to the limit, I'll have to fight—for my coven, and a future I never dreamed I was destined for...

A Trial by Blood is book three in The Thornheart Trials series Sherilee Gray. I have absolutely loved this series so far but I have to admit that I have been particularly excited for Rose and Ronan’s book. I just could not imagine how their story would go and it was incredible. So many surprises, twists and turns. And also some smiles and plenty of romance. It was amazing.

We have met Rose in the previous books. She has been sick her entire life, her siblings trying and failing at finding a cure for her mysterious illness. The Thornheart family are powerful witches but Rose has never been able to practice, her powers never realized since she has always been too weak. She’s now at the end of her journey. Her turn for her witch trial is coming and she knows she needs to die before she is called. So she asks the only person she can count on to help her to finally rest, the person who loyally comes to sit with her every single day, the man she has fallen in love with, Ronan.

Ronan is a Dhampir, half vampire, half human. After being taken along with his sister, Luna when they were just children, he lost all ability to feel emotion. Both he and his sister have been freed from their captor and Ronan lives with the wolfhounds who help him to navigate a life without the ability of emotions. For some reason, he is drawn to Rose, feels the need to care for her. He doesn’t understand why but knows it’s what he needs to do. When she asks him to end her life, he agrees to do as she wishes but she is called for her trial before he can grant her wish. So instead, he will help her and protect her. Because even though he doesn’t’ understand why, he needs to be near her and keep her safe.

This is their journey full of mystery and life and death situations. Rose is tested time and time again and her bravery and the beauty of her heart shine bright. As they work together, Ronan’s emotions are awakened for only one woman, his Rose. It was funny because he felt everything all at once and it was overwhelming. His feelings towards Rose, his need to protect her were overpowering. And, his reactions if any other male even glanced at her were so funny, but maybe not to Ronan. The things he wanted to do to any such male were quite graphic!!

Ronan and Rose’s journey to complete her trial was filled with danger and so much more. But also filled with beauty and they realized what they were to each other. Poor Ronan! He suffered so much trying to deal with his need to protect Rose. We get the shocking answers to so many questions and these two keep powering on to try to beat the time limit in finding the answers they need to solve the trial they were given. I also need to add here that Ronan has the absolute best endearment he calls Rose. It made my tummy flip every time he said it.

I adore this series. I love the Thornheart family and how close they are, how they support each other. You can read this as a stand alone but you would understand it better and have a better connection to Rose’s family if you read them in order. You will definitely need to buckle up. You are in for quite a wild ride.

Oh my gosh! This book totally stole my heart!

Rose has captured my attention from her first appearance in the series. She is weak and unable to practice magic. It’s obvious that she is slowly dying. I couldn’t wait to find out what her and Ronan’s story was going to hold. And holy heck. It was incredible.

Things start out so dark, heavy and angsty. I couldn’t put this down as I had to see what was going to happen. It wasn’t long before this story took a turn, then a twist and before I knew it, I found myself somewhere I never expected to be. And loving every moment of it.

Ronan is definitely on my top favorite hero list. He’s unable to feel emotion and yet it’s obvious that everything is right below the surface and it’s all a matter of time for it to burst out. I was on pins and needles as his journey to falling in love (or recognizing that he was already in love?) moved me through the story. His protective instincts where Rose was concerned was pure alpha goodness to the 100th degree. I couldn’t help but grin at times at his reactions.

This is filled with danger and drama along with a level of steam that will make you blush if someone looks over your shoulder while you're reading certain parts. While this can be read as a standalone, I recommend the previous books in the series because the familial connection is so much a part of the story.

Bloody hell, this was SO GOOD!!

Lost in a world of witches and dhampirs and hellhounds and demons, I couldn’t flip through these pages fast enough. I’m always immediately pulled into a story when Sherilee Gray is the author. And this one did exactly that. The hook was instant.

It’s been a while since I read the previous book in this series, but I was quickly and easily reminded of how amazing the Thornheart coven is and how much I love all the characters involved in this story.

Oh. My. Heart…this book.
The LOVE in this book. I felt it.
It’s everywhere, it’s strong, and it’s beautiful. Watching Ronan and Rose’s love grow throughout this story made my heart swell and burst at the seams with all sorts of happiness and contentment and heart-warming goodness.

Rose is a huge part of this series and was often mentioned in the first two books. I knew her story was going to be amazing. As one of the Thornheart sisters, she knew her time was coming to complete her task. One she had to complete and one she didn’t think she was capable of.

All I can say is, thank the goddess for Ronan. Reading about him in book 2, I was so very intrigued. I could not wait to get inside this emotionless and unfeeling dhampir’s head. Let me tell you, he has been through some things! The pull he felt towards Rose was powerful. He didn’t know why, just that he had to be there with her.

He will do anything for Rose.
He was put on this earth for her.
And the gentleness and care he takes with her? Motherfucking swoon. *HEART EYES* And the protectiveness, the possessiveness, the obsessiveness, the need…oh my goodness. When his emotions came out, they came out strong and they are fierce and they are powerful AF.

Intensity and passion were everywhere, emotions were high, and the action and suspense kept me on my toes and always guessing. This entire book slayed with all the fire and heat and deliciousness, yet also with all the heart and beautiful, all-consuming love. So many heart-pounding moments had me gasping and nervously awaiting the next scene.

This book was so good…insanely good.
It was everything. A Trial by Blood is an excellent story and a phenomenal reading experience.

I was waiting for Rose’s story from the very first book. How could this very sick woman ever complete her task and fall in love? This book took me on a TRIP! There were a few twists that I definitely didn’t see coming! And the romance…phew! These two are the definition of fated. Ronan was already in love with Rose before he even knew what love was. He is super mega protective and possessive. I was happy to go on a journey with these two! And now I can’t wait to read Magnolia and Bram’s book! This series is so good!

Safety:
- OW: H has to drink blood to survive. When h is still very sick (and they are not officially a couple, but spend a lot of time together) H drinks from OW, doesn’t want to touch them but they pleasure themselves while he drinks. He goes back there once more after they become a couple, but can’t bring himself to drink from anyone (He was protecting h by going there). h finds him there and they leave together.
- OM: None, but H is very jealous of all other males 😅
- No cheating
- No separation / no third act break up

A Trial By Blood🩸

Rose and Ronan’s story is finally here and it’s fantastic❣️I obviously don’t want to say too much as that would give away the gist of the story…but suffice to say Sherilee brings us another wonderful story with great characters, spectacular storyline and unravels a world of witchy and bloody delights😍

I’m excited to see what’s in store for the youngest sister Mags next and her familiar Bram. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

Rose and Ronan’s story is full of surprises! It's dark, beautiful, heartbreaking, and amazing. Sherilee Gray could not have written their book more perfectly.

Rose is stronger than she knows and has the best heart. She has loved Ronan for a long time. Ronan is an alpha and super protective. I love their mate bond! These two go through hell, both individually and together. We find out that Ronan has endured a lot of abuse and what he goes through to overcome it is amazing. Seeing him struggle under the weight of his emotions hurt my heart. Through it, Rose is patient and loving. They give each other life.

Their love for one another is otherworldly. Ronan would literally do anything for Rose and vice versa. There is so much to this book with her trial, her illness, seeing Death, and finding her mate. Be ready for an incredible thrill ride!

I received an ARC for an honest review.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Series

*Warning: A portion of this book deals with a MMC and his sister being human trafficked and assaulted by a demon, and overcoming the trauma from it.*

Spoiler Free Summary:
WE FINALLY, FIN👏AL👏LY👏 learn what is wrong with Rose, and it is absolutely perfect. The set up is there and it's so obvious, but you really have no idea until it happens. If you didn't pay attention to the family history or "lack of" it is probably why we didn't catch it. You will start to piece it together when The Mother (goddesss) tells Rose to suck it up buttercup mixed with Ronan's freakout. It will also makes sense why no one in previous books would help Rose or try to cure her. IT'S SO PERFECT!
During all this we finally get to see why Ronan is the way he is. His past and why Azrel is still an intricate part of the story. As the MMC works past that him, FMC, and supporters all help Rose attempt her task.

Starting in the 70% your mind will be blown because yet another scandal hits and it's good!
The Feels:
The author did an amazing job keeping everyone hooked from previous books to stay for this book which is Rose and Ronan's story. I would not characterize this as a standalone because you do need some information from the previous books to understand part of the story line for this book. I really liked her task for this book! It reminded me of the mummy, but with a ton of different paranormal characters.

When it comes to the past of Ronan and with dealing with the trauma of it so that he and his person can have a happy ending I thought the author did a beautiful job. She doesn't go into too much detail or make the author relive it. She does a vague recap/flashback and then spends A LOT of time with the character reaching out for help from friends and family, talking things out, and letting himself heal and have happiness. Props for Gray spends more time on the victim than giving the criminal which is exactly as it should be. The reason the demon did it was he was a defective and entitled entity. That's it. No excuses, just defectiveness.

Also, the consent discussions in Sherilee Gray's books are absolutely amazing and hats off to her for putting them in every single book with understanding from characters of what proper consent is.

Finally, Sherilee addresses Absent Parenting in this book. It's not a big theme in this book, but it is addressed. Not going to give it away, but she also gives the same energy to a parent who got someone pregnant and booked. He gets minimum time in the book, and his child isn't begging for time with him. It's a discussion and then cut on their terms and time... until towards the end.

I have been looking forward to this book and it did not disappoint. Ronan was everything. He was perfect and swoon worthy! He just wanted to take care of Rose and protect her from everything and everyone 😭🥹😍.
I love how they both were trying to work out their new feelings and I love that they talked to each other! No matter how hard it was I loved how they tried to communicate with each other and they didn’t keep things bottled down for too long.
Ronan is definitely up there with Warrick. I love them both so much! I loved the snippets we got of Warrick in this book.

I know Magnolia and Bram’a story is next but honestly I wish it was Zinnia and Death’s story next! I’m super intrigued in theirs! 😶☠️
Or Relic’s!
I just know Magnolia and Bram’s story will be super angsty and I just hope it’s not as angsty as Iris and Draven’s story was.

A few of my favorite quotes:

"Look at me, Ronan. I'm hideous." He frowned. "It's but a shell, Rose. Even your illness can't conceal the true nature of your soul." I blinked up at him. "My soul?"
"Yes." "And what is the nature of my soul?"
His violet gaze lifted from my mouth. "I may not understand emotions, but I recognize beauty, in many forms. I also know good from evil. Your goodness shines through."
He was looking deep into my eyes. "Your soul, Rose, is bright. It's beautiful." 🥹

"You're mine, Rose Thornheart. You were born for me and I for you. You don't know it, but you saved me long before I saved you. You gave me a reason to carry on when I had nothing else. When nothing moved me. When all there was, all I felt...was nothing.” His hand trembled as he lifted it and gripped the side of my throat again, brushing his thumb over my cheek. "My heart, you have no idea what you've brought into my life."

I took her face in my hands. "I cannot promise you that, my heart. If anything happened to you, I would lay waste to whoever hurt you, then I would follow you. Wherever you were, I would find a way to follow you. Understand?"

"I love you," I rasped, the emotions inside me too big to contain. "I didn't know what love was for most of my life," I said against her skin, "but I do now, because of you."

A Trial by Blood is the third book in The Thornheart Trials by Sherilee Gray. I read all of the books in this series, including the Knights of Hell series, and I'm obsessed with all of it. I cannot wait for the next book.
description
It centralizes on Rose, who has been sick the entire installment. As she felt death was by her fingertips, she asked Ronan to help her die on her own terms, as well as before her trial started to try to save her family before she passed.
description
Ronan is a vampire, the brother of Luna from Knights of Hell series. They were both abused horribly and taken advantage of at such a young age, which caused him to lose his ability to feel. Yet, somehow, he was irrevocably drawn to Rose, and he couldn't explain why.
description
When I started reading this book, I couldn't stop. I was really captivated by the main characters. Rose and Ronan's relationship had been slowly evolving in the past two books, so the pace of how Rose felt about Ronan felt really genuine and sweet. Ronan was unable to feel anything of substance, yet he followed his instincts and was always gentle with Rose.

Their chemistry was evident. I loved how Sherilee Gray went about the plot in terms of restoring Ronan's emotions and how he struggled with it. Ronan having to deal with the turmoil of Rose being in danger was really sweet and hot to read.

If anyone is looking for a feel-good, heart-warming yet heartwrenching paranormal story, this is for you!

Thank you Sherilee Gray for the ARC for the review! Everything in this review was my honest opinion.

Oh my heart!! Rose and Ronan are the perfect soulmated couple!

From the very beginning of this book I was drawn into the gripping story. While this may be the third book in this series, it almost reads like a complete standalone. The fantastical stories that makes up both Rose and Ronan's backstories are fascinating, intriguing and just really darn good that their love flows so organically it made the book fly by.

Ronan comes across in the beginning as emotionless, yet compassionate, while also caring, but also without empathy. He's a total mixed bag of contradictions and I was instantly drawn to his character the same way he was drawn to Rose. He didn't quite understand why he couldn't stay away from her, he just had this pull, this incessant need to stay by her side and without emotions guiding him, he truly didn't know why. When his dam finally breaks open and he's flooded with everything, and I mean every single emotion and feeling. It is literal years and years of emotions that humans spend a lifetime building up, gaining tolerance to, learning how to control, etc...that hit him all at once. I have to say Ronan becomes even more fascinating from this point forward. I was truly enthralled by him as I've never read anything or anyone like him before and I gobbled up every word.

Then we have Rose Thornheart. The sister that everyone feared would parish by the time her trial would be called forth. However, Rose becomes more than she appears and with the help of Ronan by her side, she will not only find a way to complete her trial, but find an inner strength that rivals her sisters. Rose is so strong and that statement right there I know is so contradictory to how she begins the story, but strength is measured in so many ways and it's not always physical strength that wins the day. She and Ronan are my favorite couple in this series, so far, and their love for each other was such a thing of beauty to read.

5 holy motherfucking what the bloody hell I just read stars

This was THE best book by far. This was so painful, I cried first 15% like a baby. Poor Rose, jesus, just poor poor girl. I felt everything and god damn this author. I think I will be wanting to stalk her and what does she eat for breakfast because damn that woman can write.

So, this was extremely emotional book on both ends. Who has read previous books knows that Rose is dying. It’s matter of days and someone is waiting for her on the other side. Iris opened a huge shit pile and Rose in every way drew the short end in this.

I loved her character the most so far. How she grew , how her emotions, hormones and feelings were unfurling after what, like two decades of just wasting away.

How she finally came to power and oh my god I did not see that coming at all. It was magnificent.

Ronan, my poor poor Ronan. His life story has been very differently tragic. His trauma so severe and when he finally gets his emotions back. Shit, that was a horrible train wreck to read. How author addressed his abuse was spot on.

I just want to say thank you to this author! I’ve searched for years a good paranormal author of my likings.

🔸virgin h
🔸H is a rape victim, he has never slept with a woman
🔸action packed storyline
🔸bit ow drama
🔸no cheating
🔸H is dhampir -half vampire half human

Triggers: There is attempted rape on h; H was raped by a guy but he didn’t understand that time that because he had no emotions at all and dhampirs were trading their bodies for blood( some old time thing); h is very sick and dying, wishing to die.

There were many things happening in this book. I cannot wait to read Mag and Brams book! And holy hell, Zinnia!!!! This is just everything! That was just wow! Mind blown. I have to say cannot wait to meet Lucifers mate 🙈

i give this a 3.8 but obviously rounded up!

i think this might be my favorite entry in the series? which is kind of shocking because i went into this book not super invested in rose but mildly interested because of her condition. i really wondered how the author would navigate her sickness and overall physical deterioration while doing her trial. and to be honest, i felt like her sickness was quickly solved -- i thought there would be more of a physical struggle to overcome it (which i kind of hoped) because it was like, all of a sudden she's magically cured! but i can't dock points because the author did create this magical loop hole which DOES make sense, but idk i think i just wanted more creativity i guess?

but that being said i think i like this because there's soooo much backstory and meat to ronan. a lot of times, the books focus on the fmc (which is fair because it is THEIR story) but the mmc kind of becomes an accessory, but in this book, i loved reading about ronan's tragic backstory and how he's overcoming a lot of new emotions and feelings and learning to process them. it was really fun reading his change from this stoic and logical guy to becoming someone who is brimming with passion but just doesn't know how to healthily handle it. i loved his focus and dedication to rose and equally, i loved how rose was so patient with him (even when he was very overbearing). they are such a sweet couple today.

that being said, the relationship between the two was the shining part of this story because there were so many parts where i felt like rose made really impulsive and stupid decisions and her bat backstory.... it could've been interesting but i didn't really care too much about it. it was kind of introduced to cure rose and to create drama, but in the end, it didn't really matter.

I was really looking forward to this one after reading Iris and Draven's story. And maybe I had higher expectations, I don't know. I did enjoy it, just maybe not as much as I was hoping.

I liked Rose and I loved Ronan. I was definitely surprised with the turn it took in regards to Rose and her illness. I was not expecting it and liked that it wasn't predictable. I also like that we didn't have Rose and Ronan just jump headfirst into being mates so easily. Rose lost alot of her life due to being sick and I thought rushing it wouldn't feel right but especially so with Ronan. Ronan was unable to feel his emotions until he mated Rose and because of that he was hit with a tidal wave of emotions including the shame and humiliation and general trauma of the abuse he suffered at Azel's hands. This to me was well done at least because he address his issues and show him struggling to move past them. If there hadn't been a side plot with Rose's task from The Mother and such we probably could have gotten a more fleshed out evolution of his transition from his trauma but ultimately I liked how it was handled.

I did find myself struggling to keep interested in Rose's task storyline. It just didn't interest me the way the other sisters tasks did. So it definitely felt like it dragged whenever it came into focus again.

Overall I did like it and I was happy to see Ronan and Rose find happiness and peace. I am however hoping for a book for her cousin Zinnia now. Gimmie gimmie gimme.

This is Rose (the 3rd Thornheart sister) and Ronan’s story. Rose has spent her life with a degenerative illness and at the beginning of the book, has made peace with her impending death. It’s her turn to face Mother Nature’s trial and retain her coven’s gifts. Ronan is a dhampir (half vampire/half human) who has no capacity for emotion, but does feel a connection to Rose. Like her sisters before her, Rose has to solve a problem, while dealing with a new relationship, one with a mate who is flooded with emotion after years of not feeling anything. I enjoyed this story, and the growth of Rose and Ronan, not just as a couple, but as individuals. They both had a rebirth of sorts and had to learn to live with a new kind of existence. One of the things with this series that I find a little confusing - humans are mentioned and they obviously live in the city, but there are so many supernaturals, and the forest is filled with demons and monsters, more than are even familiar to the characters. Even if the supernaturals were really good at self-regulating, the sheer numbers would seem to indicate that a lot more would slip through and attract the notice of humans. I really like the story though and I’m looking forward to reading about Rose’s younger sister Magnolia and her familiar, Bram.

So first off I should mention that I received the ARC of this book and came across a few grammar errors that I am sure will be fixed by the time the actual book goes live. I have been looking forward to Rose and Ronan's story for a long time. From the other two books in the series, we know how much rose suffered and that she was dying. We also know from the Knights of Hell series what Ronan's sister went through in her past but we did get a lot of detail about how Ronan Suffered in his past. This book gives a glimpse into Ronan's past that we didn't have before and when his emotions start to come back we can see just how much he went through and the abuse he went through. A Trial by blood was an enduring story of true love and respect. The fact that Ronan cared for Rose even before he had his feelings back just proves how much love he has for her. I loved this book. I did find the actual scene of Rose finishing her task a little less than what I thought it would be. Just felt like there could have been something more but despite that, it did not take away from the story. It just made the rest of the story stick out more. The emphasis of the book was on true love and overcoming a past of suffering, and it was done in a way a reader could just enjoy. Highly recommend this book.

WOW! That was dark, intense and so damn good! The imagery and worldbuilding in this series is outstanding and instantly draws me right back into a world filled with dhampirs, witches, demons, hellhounds and all kinds of other shifters. I was riveted to my seat, biting my nails with anticipation and enthralled by what I was reading. It was dark, twisted, thrilling, suspenseful, emotional and heartbreaking.

Rose, my heart ached for this poor young woman, her life has been nothing so far but pain. But even in her immense pain and anguish, Rose has a heart of gold and will do anything for those that she loves the most.

Ronan has also been through so much tragedy and pain in his life that he can relate to Rose and want to help her anyway he can. Watching Rose and Ronan’s deep love and passion for each other grow brought tears to my eyes. The love these two have was absolutely undeniable, otherworldly and all-consuming. They brought so much joy to my heart as they navigated their new relationship together.

This was an insanely well written story that was filled with so much emotional turmoil, angst and pain that my heart was taking a beating. I was continually guessing on what would happen next and at times was completely shocked by the turn of events.

I loved this story and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series.

The Thornheart Trials series is criminally underrated. If you love paranormal romance with all the romance tropes, spice, magic, and lots of action, you NEED to pick up this series. I have been so excited for A Trial by Blood because Rose and Ronan’s romance has been intriguing since the beginning.

Since the first book, Rose has been suffering from a mysterious illness that her family of witches can’t find a cure for. Ronan is an emotionless, inexperienced vampire who can’t seem to leave Rose’s bedside. As Rose’s illness gets more severe, she must make a decision before she is called by the Mother to begin the her trial.

This series should be read in order even though each book is about a different couple. There are scenes of Rose and Ronan’s relationship throughout the series, which makes their book a lot more emotional. Also, I highly recommend listening to the book playlist while reading to heighten the overall experience. I guarantee your heart with be in your throat for this one.

Thank you to the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for sending me this ARC to review. A Trial by Blood is available now!

RONAN ana ROSE - read 27.05.25r.
-It was the best reading so far from this author in this and the previous Knights of Hell Series. Less playing hot and cold. More communication, support and showing love to each other instead of constantly denying it. 🥰

I was very excited when I was chosen for an ARC of this book. Sherilee Gray did not disappoint with Rose and Ronan’s story. Once I started reading I could not put the book down. We get to see Rose in a different light than her sisters’ point of view (in the previous books) of her as, which is weak. It was nice reading about Rose becoming more confident in herself and refusing others from holding her back because of what she used to be. You get to see Rose overcome the odds with Ronan at her side. Ronan was sweet and at times very overprotective, which is kind of expected of the men in this series. I’m still trying to grasp how simple the solution to Rose’s mysterious illness was and thought it was clever the way Sherliee Gray brought it to everyone’s attention. After reading Rose and Ronan’s story, I’m looking forward to seeing what Brams and Magnolia’s book will look like since we also get a glimpse into their “situationship”.

A Trial by Blood was so good. I loved these characters with all my heart. I just wanted to hide Ronan from the world. The story was amazing. Full of supernatural beings from vampires, to hellhounds, to bat shifters. I absolutely loved it. There were so many twists and turns and the ending was amazing. Rose was great. She was fierce, loyal, and so loving. Ronan was awkwardly perfect. He had so many things going on but he still managed to over come them. His story broke my heart and his ending left me crying. I loved every moment of this story and cannot wait for Mag's story.

5++++ stars! Listen!!! This is the best book of the series.

I have been waiting for Rose’s book for so long and she was perfect. Strength galore, a deep seated empathy and compassion for others and fortitude. Rose was really that girl. She had been through so much and yet she just kept pushing through. She was so honest and kind.

Ronan omg. Our damaged yet amazing hero. He really had to overcome so much to be happy. He had to learn how to survive all over again and it was heartbreaking to watch. I’m so glad he had Rose, she was the most reasonable and understanding of her siblings. By far. Any other heroine would’ve been a cluster fuxk. The representation of sexual abuse is well done in this.

A Trial By Blood was amazing. It may just be my fave of the series so far and by this author period. I loved it. It was one of my most highly anticipated reads and it was oh so good. I knew things would work out for Rose but I had no idea how. There were and turns and I loved every moment of it. I loved Rose's and Ronan's journey. It was fitting for these two who had had the toughest time. It was beautiful. It was painful. It was steamy. It was sweet at times and above all was filled with love. I very highly recommend it. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Rose & Ronan's connection is such a beautiful thing to experince! I loved every second of their emontional, sexy, magical and fast paced love story! No two characeters deserved a happily ever after than these two. A Trail By Blood has everything you could hope for from a Sherilee Gray book! Family, love, heat, haunting moments and some tears shed. I LOVE this family and the enchanting, mythical world that Sherilee Gray has created! I want a book for so many charcters and I hope the author stays in this world cause I would read everything she gives us!

I was SO curious about what Rose's illness would be and it was resolved pretty quickly. Something about what it ended up being though gives me the ick. Like doesn't seem like her family ever put any significant effort into finding her dad even though presumably the illness could come from his line and she was dying. Ronan figures it out and no one feels literally any guilt after than except Ronan. They just go oops sorry we almost let you starve. Oh well. Like assuming she was around blood at all at any point wouldn't she have felt hunger or the urge to feed or fangs or something. Overall love their chemistry but couldn't get over that
