A fiery dragon at the heart of the dune sea. A hoped-for ally or instant death?
In a last desperate attempt save Samaran from the invaders, Ariel ventures into the scorching deserts of Annubia to train with the deadly Nishan assassins.
She knows the old king is too weak to inspire and lead a rebellion to oust the occupying army. If she fails to return home in time to use her new skills, Marin will be forced to break his oath to the Eldrin, reveal his lineage and claim the throne.
If she can survive her encounter with the formidable Guardian of Rahimar, there may be another way to defeat new threats and old treacheries.

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. I’m Jay, a sci-fi, thriller and occasional fantasy author from the wild Welsh borders! I love weaving my (sometimes hair-raising) experiences of extreme sports into my stories as well as painting scenes from my travels into both contemporary and imagined worlds. When I’m reading, I find the blend of fast-paced plots and interesting, compelling characters is what keeps the pages turning – so that is how I like to write. I hope you’ll love my stories – there are more of them due out this year!

A great continuation of the story. This book starts from the big revelations from the last book and hits the ground running.
Ariel has accepted the binding with the Shadowblade but even that was not enough to defeat the Emperor and his "partner". Now Ariel need to travel to a neighbouring country to learn a new set of skills and of course new powers. However with the war/invasion in her own country. Things are not going to be standing still. Hard decisions, betrayal and alliances will be made. With the pace this book runs at things will not be the same as when Ariel left.
An excellent fast paced and action packed books. As soon as things seem yo be getting better it takes another twist. I also like that other characters get a chance to prove their worth. The series finishing and possibly the most dangerous mission yet to come I can't wait to see what happens next.
The 3rd book of A Dance of Fire and Shadow, Fireblade, started out cold but definitely got hot quickly, literally! After her failed assassination attempt, Ariel found herself seeking the help of someone with a different skill set, in the deserts of Annubia! Training as a Nishan was a stepping stone towards her ultimate goal, which might have changed as the plot continued.
There were more revelations about how Shadow became the way he was. Ariel’s relationship with the Elemental had evolved, giving her better insight on his actions and reactions. What she discovered gave her hope that he might yet change for the better.
I read this book from cover to cover within hours. I have to admit that this is my favorite book in the series so far. Other important information came to light regarding the Elementals and Power Mages. What was most intriguing for me though, was the existence of yet another entity! Interested yet? Go ahead and get started on this book!
Ariel continues her quest to free her country from the Emperor
Ariel travels to Annubia for further training as a Nishant and meets another elemental who proves to be invaluable in the fight against Rapathia. She and Marin are married and Tandarion is returned to power.
Knowing and working with Shadow is becoming easier, but what happens when another Elemental is met? What is the history of the Elderan? The group works to save the kingdom and the king, but will it be in time? Exploring more of the world and learning about other countries keeps this moving forward with a quick pace.
