It’s pretty bad, snowy weather in Chicago and grumpy Emmett is waiting for his already delayed flight to see his family when a stranger, sunny flight attendant Cody on his way home, approaches him to take the seat next to him. When their flight eventually get cancelled altogether they start roaming the airport…

[at a gift shop:]
“Ever just want to hug a teddy bear?” […] “Go ahead and hug it,”
“I’m good.”
“I know it seems silly, but just humor me.” […] “Doesn’t that just make you feel so happy?”

It was so ridiculous, but I understood what he was trying to do.

At that I had to get up to big-hug my daughters teddybear 🧸 *lolll

Anyway… they enjoy each other’s company for a few more hours, fall asleep together at the terminal, board the next flight early next morning, join the mile-high-club and when they land they’d gotten attached to one another way too much and way to quickly already.

But they are in the same city after all. At least for a few more days.

I enjoyed Cody’s and Emmett’s story very much. I liked the writing and that they fell for each other so quickly felt convincing. A really nice and sweet holiday read.

My only niggle (otherwise I would have rated it higher) were Cody’s parents. These unfriendly people left me with a very bad taste I totally could’ve done without and enduring them in part of this story was more than unpleasant - I guess an only tell, no show would’ve worked just fine for me with that.

Hmm... I didn't love it, but that might just be me.
I made the mistake of reading this straight after a book that I had absolutely loved, and that had a very similar storyline of trying to get home to family at Christmas.

I wanted to like this, but I never really connected with the characters and just couldn't feel the chemistry between Emmett and Cody.

It wasn't a bad book, so hopefully you all enjoy it more than I did.

I am not normally a fan of Christmas stories and so went into this not expecting to enjoy it as much as I did! It was a lovely grumpy/sunshine novella that had the perfect amount of spice and sweet, and I was hooked the entire time. It flowed nicely in a way that even though the book was short, the story didn't feel rushed or missed anything out. I loved Aunt Sadie so much and how she welcomed Cody into the family without hesitation, and whilst Cody had his own issues to overcome, Emmett was willing to stand beside him and support him unconditionally. Overall this was a sweet read that works as a great palette cleanser and wonderful Christmas read!

2.5-3.0 ⭐️

While I normally love her books I am unfortunately a little torn about this one.
I love the grumpy/sunshine trope and I really liked the characters in the beginning. Cody had so much golden retriever energy it was really cute. And Emmett was the classic grump who didn’t want anything to do with anyone, especially strangers.
However I felt like the characters changed during the book and kind of started running a little hot and cold with each other which I found a little confusing to be honest.

Nearly 50% of the book is about the one/two days they spend at the airport which I personally thought was too much. And then the other half was rather rushed. Thus their relationship developed rather quickly. I wished it would have been more elaborated.

The thing I liked was that Emmett supported Cody unconditionally in every aspect. And I really liked Emmetts aunt. She was such a loving whirlwind. And they way she welcomed Cody in the family was so sweet. Obviously their Happy End was really cute as well 💖

So all in the book was easy to read and overall okay.
But you know, this is just my opinion and maybe you will like this more than I did.🤗

[I received an digital arc and this is my honest opinion]

If you like instant attraction, grump/sunshine, holiday romances, then this sweet novella is for you. Two men stuck in an airport as the snow comes down, so Cody, an airline attendant, does everything he can to make grumpy Emmett smile. It doesn't take long for Emmett to come out of his shell and get quickly drawn into Cody. And what better way than to kill time trapped in an airport than with some high steam.

They finally board the same plane headed to San Diego, and that's when doubts begin to fly. That should we/shouldn't we. Their interest and lust grew fast but once they were separated, and with two clueless men about how to handle something deeper, they struggled. This felt realistic to me since both had ideas on what they wanted from each other, yet were afraid to breach past their doubts, unsure how the other felt.

But the two men navigate through texts, phone calls, and they finally meet to figure out what they wanted.

And love the date at the beach idea on Xmas day!

This was a delightful little holiday read. While I found Emmett to be cute, I found Cody to be downright adorable. Both of these guys have little to no experience when it comes to relationships. That makes navigating new feelings a minefield of pitfalls. No one falls victim to this more than Cody. He really didn’t know how to handle his feelings for Emmett. Both of them made missteps, but it really just forced them to be more honest with one another.

Cody is a flight attendant who has been reluctant to set down roots. Emmett is unhappy with his tech job in Chicago and has some regrets moving away from his Aunt. Both of these guys are ready for something real, they just don’t know it yet. There was certainly an element of insta-love here, but I also felt like they tried to really get to know one another. There was a realness between them that I appreciated. Even with the sexy times sprinkled here and there, I didn’t feel like their whole relationship was based around the physical. For a little book, it packed a lot into it.

A fairly light holiday read that makes you fall in love with the MCs and leaves you with a smile on your face. A recommended read for me.

This is a cute, hot, instalove snowed in at the airport Christmas romance. There are some VERY spicy moments - think airport/airplane bangarang's greatest hits, haha!

I feel like a lot of the time the author was more telling than showing, and there were some sort of weird pacing moments. While we get a fair amount of depth into Emmett's character and backstory, I wish Cody had been more fully fleshed out. Also, while I loved the grumpy/sunshine dynamic that is really solid at the beginning of the book, by about halfway through they seem to almost swap personalities, and they keep running hot and then cold for what feels like no reason. And the entire thing with Cody's parents was just... awkwardly executed.

That being said! This is a fun, quick read if you're in the mood for the instalove and snowed in tropes at Christmas that's more wham, bam, thank you ma'am than all the feels.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are unbiased and my own.

STEAM LEVEL: 🔥🔥

This was a surprisingly emotional, sweet, sexy little novella set to a festive backdrop of Christmas and New Years. Both Emmett and Cody were endearing in their approach to each other and life. They had instant chemistry and despite the short length of their love story, it provided angst and resolution.

So Emmett is a bit of a grump and stuck in an airport. Cody is a flight attendant that tries to make Emmett’s predicament a bit better. These two get up to some hot shenanigans and through a couple of miscommunication spells, discover that maybe they’re proof that instalove does exist.

The angst is a bit OTT for such a short story but it wasn’t too bad to ruin it all. It added a layer of depth to an otherwise “easy” read. The vibes were pretty intense all around and I felt the holiday spirit. Definitely not a bad read to include in your December TBR stack!

I really wanted to like Joelle Lynne’s Wish Me Home. I really wanted to, but sadly I didn’t.

An airline traveller falling for a flight attendant is a familiar, and typically fun trope. Both the 22-year old traveller, Emmett Butler, and the 29 year-old flight attendant, Cody Summers, had the potential to be interesting characters. In fact, they turned out to be quite the opposite.

The locations Lynne chose for her novel, Chicago, San Diego, and Portland, OR, are all great cities. Somehow though, nothing seemed to work - even the author's occasional attempts to create doubt and angst in the minds of her protagonists.

There is little real emotional development between Emmett and Cody. What there is, though, in just the first half of the book, is two graphically described “slam, bam, thank you man” sexual encounters. The first occurs in an airport restroom shortly after the two men meet; the second in a cramped bathroom at the rear of an airplane the following morning.

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review.

If you’re looking for a novel with minimal plot and high heat, Wish Me Home is the book for you.

If, on the other hand, you’re looking for a heart-felt, feel good Christmas novel, there are many other far better options available.

This was such a cute read! I freaking adored Cody and Emmett together. Cody was a ray of sunshine who brought grumpy Emmett out of his shell. Their hook up scenes were hot, there are several swoon worthy moments, and the theme of getting home for the holidays was meaningful to both characters through out.

I loved the Teddy Bear scene!!

Seriously, I adored Cody so much that I hope to see him make cameo appearances in Joelle's books anytime an airplane or airport is involved!

If you are looking for a fun and quick holiday read make sure you give this one a go.

Wish Me Home is the second book in the Home for the Holidays multi author series. It’s seriously good, sweet and reminds me of a Hallmark movie. Emmett is headed home for the holidays to the aunt that raised him. Cody is an airline steward that is off for the holidays and is headed home. I loved the way that Cody attached himself to Emmett. Neither man really has any idea how to navigate a relationship. I loved the grumpy/sunshine that was Emmett and Cody, loved it!! Overall, a fantastic, feel good read that left me smiling! Well written with great pacing that hooked me and kept me engaged.

I just love Holiday romances that start off at airports!! I just find airports so stressful and this concept of two ppl finding love in these intense circumstances is delightful. Especially a grumpy/sunshine opposites attract with some steamy bathroom scenes.

It was a cute Insta lust holiday novella with a HEA! My only wish is that Emmett perhaps wasn’t quite so grumpy so I’m rating this a 4.5 rounded up to 5.

Book 2 in the Home for the holiday series

This is a feel good fluffy Christmas novella, a great book to start off my Christmas reads.

Emmett and Cody meet at the airport and quickly hit it off, they continue their friendly relationship while both being home for the holidays. Emmett stays with his aunt Sadie who encourages him to keep contact with Cody over the holidays.

Cody is reluctant to spend time with Emmett until he decides to deal with his uncaring parents.
This is a great festive pallet cleanser, low angst, grumpy/sunshine, easy read with some spice thrown in!!

Just finished reading this little jewel, and I loved it! Most of the story takes place at the airport, which I found to be very fitting and works well in the storyline.

We meet Emmett who is supposed to be on a flight to San Diego to visit his aunt over Christmas. Of course, the flight gets cancelled as a heavy snowstorm descends Chicago.

Enter Cody, a sexy flight attendant who is also stranded due to the storm. As the lounge area is filled to capacity with other people whose flights also got canceled, there is no where to sit. Except of course one seat, which so happens to be the one right next to Emmett. Cody asks if the seat is taken and Emmett reluctantly moves his bag to make room.

The two eventually end up conversing after much coaxing from Cody. Emmett is grumpy and wants to be left alone but Cody is not having it.

After a quick dinner and drinks, it’s very evident the two are very attracted to one another.

Eventually the flight gets rescheduled and by this point, they’re each wondering how they can see each other again as they both live in different cities.

This book is the perfect read: short, sweet and with the right amount of heat. I loved both MC’s.

It does end with a very sweet HEA.

Super cute, insta-connection winter romance

This was a really sweet read. I liked that both Emmett and Cody emphasised that they had an instant connection which quickly turned to love but that they needed time before they should really be saying I love you. With contemporary romance that’s always far more believable; sometimes people really do just connect in a massive way and whilst they can feel genuine love very quickly it’s about seeing if that love lasts. What I particularly liked was that Emmett and Cody’s relationship was not always smooth sailing. They had their own issues and insecurities that meant they both screwed up sometimes and they both needed to be patient and forgive the other. Often these types of quick reads feel a little imbalanced - the characters uproot their whole lives for someone they just met and are head over heels in love within a day or two. I didn’t feel that with this one. Yes they felt very strong emotions quickly and yes there were some changes made to their lives but the reason for those changes weren’t solely based on meeting each other. If anything meeting and having that connection simply pushed them to do something they already had reason to do. Sometimes that bug step worked out and sometimes it didn’t but they supported each other through it. I definitely will be looking for more of this author’s books - it had that lovely warm feeling that winter romances should have and I’m looking forward to more!

Joelle is a pro at writing fluffy, steamy stories that fog up your kindle but also warm your heart. And this short novella is no different. Emmett and Cody have a fast tracked relationship, most of the book set overnight when they're stranded in Chicago. They create this really cute bond - and have incredible chemistry and a hot bathroom hookup - before they both head on to San Diego where they get to continue what they started.

The characters in this book were great. They were well rounded and pretty developed for a novella. As someone who has always been a character based reader, novellas can be difficult for me when it comes to characterizations. I was happy to see that wasn't the case here. I didn't feel like the characterizations were sacrificed in order to move everything along. I didn't feel like I was reading about strangers who I'd read maybe a Hinge profile on and that was all I knew while I watched them maneuver their world.

But then Joelle has always been pretty good at her character work.

If you're looking for a cute holiday novel with a bit of an instalove, then this one is for you. Dual POV, nice steam level, and no angst combined with the short length makes this a perfect holiday read. Grab your cocoa and dive in!

Wish Me Home is a lovely quick read that was perfect for jump-starting the Christmas Holiday spirit, especially if you're a bit of a Grinch like me. Emmett and Coby are really interesting characters that seemed very similar in one sense and then world's apart in another. These men are both dealing with grief, in Coby's case he's grieving the loss of the still living. I really felt for both these men. They certainly had a lot of issues separately and jointly. What starts as impromptu meeting dramatically turns into a whirlwind romance filled with turbulence & endless pining that progresses in to some really heartfelt moments of vulnerability, that will certainly get you feeling miles higher... pun definitely intended! Coby & Emmett welcome you to their club.

❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

This was a festive cocktail perfect in equal parts for it's steamy terminal & cabin delights but also able to still pull at those heartstrings. There's no place like home and one of these men are going to learn the truth behind that sentiment, Is home a place or a person though?

Wish Me Home was a lovely book. Set amongst the world of holiday travel and uncooperative weather.

A whirlwind romance between a grumpy traveler heading to his hometown to visit his Aunt for the holidays, and an Airline steward who’s heading home for a quiet holiday alone. There’s an instant pull between these two, even if Emmett doesn’t really understand why he’s agreeing to everything Coby proposes. But the grump can’t seem to shake the draw to the sunshiny man. And quickly realizes he doesn’t want to.

As with many holidays, there are a lot of emotions at war for these two, but they are learning it’s better to navigate together, rather than alone. It’s not easy, or perfect, but it’s clear they are there for each other no matter what.

A sweet holiday story with a sad Christmas tree, but a whole lot of love.

An amazing book! I finished this book in a couple of hours it was so good! I won the book but I honestly would have gone and bought it after the giveaway. I usually do!!
This is kind of a sad story at many times. Especially at the start. Cody,a pilot, on downtime, is trying so hard to have a conversation with Emmett who seems bound and determined to be a stick in the mud. As they realize their same flight to San Diego has been delayed, then cancelled, they go gallivanting through O'Hare. Once they are at the desk much later, they book 2 seats together. They sleep on the floor of O'Hare. One is going back to an aunt that is all he has. Cody has a family. Emmett keeps pushing to contact and be with them.
When they do arrive in San Diego, Cody is reluctant to be a part of things with Emmett and his aunt at Christmas. Cody is alone.
I am leaving it there because I will spoil it all!!
READ! READ! READ! This is such a good book. Yes there are a few smexy scenes but not overdone. It is the story here that really gets you! 10/10.

This little novella was absolutely wonderful. It was a feel good, insta love, semi spicy story that gave me a warm heart and big hug.

Emmett and Cody meet in the airport the night their flight is cancelled due to snow. Emmett is on his way home to San Diego to share the holidays with his aunt / past guardian and Cody is a flight attendant who's last leg of his shift was to go home to San Diego.

Snowed in, the two sit beside each other in the crowded airport. They share a drink, some conversation and some...fun. 🙃 There is an instant connection between the two of them, but fear takes over when they realize they will most likely go their separate ways after they make it to San Diego.

Fate has other plans. They can't seem to stay away from each other, and even though Cody tried to give Emmett time with his aunt, he's pulled to Emmett and the aunt and found family that comes with it.

There are a few sad moments but overall this is a great read!!

This book started out really strong, and I absolutely loved Emmett and Cody in the first part of the story. I think their time stuck in the airport was written so well. However it was almost half the book which made the pacing of the story feel off. Also I feel like once they left the airport Cody’s personality really changed. He was all sunshine in the beginning but then he turned into a major grump. So instead of grumpy/sunshine it was just grumpy/grumpy.

This story also just felt incomplete to me and the ending seemed abrupt. I know it’s a novella but that doesn’t mean it should feel a little unfinished. The whole story of Cody’s family seemed weird and like it was an afterthought. It seemed like it was quickly written just to add drama.

This gets three stars because I loved the first half of the book, even though the second half was disappointing.

I did receive a free ARC of this book but that did not influence my review.

A very sweet, grumpy/sunshine holiday romance!
All Emmett wants is to get home for San Diego for Christmas. His aunt is his only family and he just wants to spend the holiday with her, but when the snow starts falling in Chicago, it’s not looking good. With every announcement his flight gets more delayed, and Emmett is not happy.
When a handsome flight attendant with a stunning smile Tajes the seat next to him, Emmett is not in the mood. But how bad could a drink with this gorgeous man be? He does have hours to kill…
Everyone told me I’d love Cody and they were so right! While he does have his own struggles, he’s made the best of his life and definitely finds the positives. He also brings out a warmer side of Emmett, and they definitely fit together.
Another lovely and steamy romance by Joelle!

A fun and sweet Christmas novella about a flight attendant, Cody, and a weary passenger, Emmett, who meet due to their canceled flight.

Emmett and Cody are adorable together and have instant chemistry that is believable for the reader. It’s fun to read about their airport adventures and how quickly they fall for one another. I really like how Emmett tended to be the more emotional or the two and also the more dominant in the bedroom - it made for a nice mix to his personality.

I felt Cody pushed too hard on Emmett for distance in the middle section, and I wished he would have stopped the push pull sooner than he did. But overall it was a fun and creative read, perfect for the holiday season!

Christmas Love at the Airport

Wish Me Home is a sweet Christmas love story. Emmett's annoyed to be snowed in at the airport, and Cody is a flight attendant who was supposed to be working his last flight before vacation. When Cody approaches Emmett, he's charmed by the grumpy traveller, and determined to pull him out of his bad mood. They spend the night wandering around the airport and Emmett can't help being taken with Cody. Sparks fly as they give in to their attraction to each other, and they're not ready to let go when they fly home. Can they really build a relationship off of a chance meeting? Beautiful story of finding love when they weren't even looking. Loved this story!

This book is part of the Home for the Holidays, multi-author series. Emmett is stranded at an airpot when snow grounds the flight is supposed to be on. Cody is a flight attendant waiting to take his last flight before his vacation starts. Chance, and a lot of snow, throws them together, and they can't fight the mutual attraction and slowly start to fall for each other.

This was such a cute love story. I like how charmed sunshiny Cody is by grumpy Emmett. It was so sweet to watch them get closer and see the sparks fly. I like that this was a light-hearted, low-angst romance and I enjoyed getting to know the characters. And it was funny to read a story about two people falling in love in an airport. What are the odds?

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I adore Cody!!

This book was full of surprises! I love holiday stories and Mr. Grumpy Pants Emmett made my day. Cody, my sunshine man, was everything you need in this kind of situation. They are a match made by the airport fairies. 😉

Have you ever been stranded in an airport? 🙋🏻‍♀️ Ever missed your flight? 🙋🏻‍♀️ It’s absolute crazy bananas, right?! The hordes of people, the search for a place to stay, and the hunt for food. 😳 Well, Emmett got lucky and met gorgeous and KIND flight attendant Cody, who made his delay and flight home to San Diego that much better. I won’t spoil any more of story other than to say I enjoyed it. It made me happy and sad, but left me HAPPY. It also left me craving more Christmas books!!

Fun short holiday story!

Wish Me Home is such a heartwarming holiday story. Cody and Emmett meet at the airport and sparks immediately fly. There’s A TON of chemistry between them and through their encounter, they fall in love and wonder if more is possible.

This is sunshine/grump tropes with age gap, and I think Joelle did an amazing job depicting the characters circumstances and personalities. I fell in love with Emmett right from the start, and was lured in by Cody’s three-dimensional emotions. He was more than just the sunshine of the duo.

The story deals with some difficulties in family matters, but also has so many touching moments. Overall, it was such a fun read and my only compliant is wishing I could read more of them!
