If you are looking for an engine for your passion or a good motivator to start your own project and getting faithful of your capacities you should pick up this book and start reading it right now.

With a simple style of writting David Evans tells us about five women from different areas reach the top of success in various fields, the most famous name in fashion and cosmetics and the the first successful international woman in the twentieth century Coco Chanel, who could change completely  women's vision to fashion, Hanae Mori the famous Japaness designer, Oprah winfery the owner of the popular entertainment industry, Madonna the Pop star and Anita Roddrick the British  business women.

The book takes you in a short trip to the worlds of those five women to highlights their biggest achievements in their careers, and follows their tremendous courage to overcome the obstacles of their societies, and their inner fear to attain their goals and became real successful business women.
I have to mention that those five women had something in common which was their strong ability of taking control of their lives and their boundless faith in themselves.

I am a big fan of Oprah Winfery show, I like her way in communicating with her guests and how she respected every single one of them, she had a great sense of responsibility towards any subject she talked about, and after reading about her life career I recognized how she could build her strong and kind personality...

The book is a good encouragement  guide to start your business work or even in any aspect of your life.

In the book “Women in Business”, we can see five smart, talent women, they made their business to the top in the twenty century. Those women are famous all over the world based on their success. They are: Coco Channel (Perfume and Fashion), Hanae Mori (Japanese Fashion designer), Anita Roddick (Founder of the body Shop), Oprah Winfrey (Talk shoe Host), and Madonna (famous singer). They are each from very different places, cultures, and backgrounds but they all have one thing in common, it is the success.
I really admire them because of their great abilities. They could overcome obstacles to get achievements for future. Their contributions are very worthy for next generations to learn and follow. After reading this novel, I feel myself need to make very effort for my future and my family.

(a) Book title: Women In Business

(b) Author: David Evans

(c) Number of pages read: 57 pages

(d) The question numbers: (7) and (10)

(e) The questions:

Question #7. Sometimes when we read, certain words or phrases or images stand out. Maybe they are words or phrases that make an impression because of their sound, or maybe the meaning or image they make strikes us? Sometimes we find words or expressions we just do not understand. Share those that you have come across and describe why you listed them.

When I read the chapter about Oprah Winfrey’s story, her learned an important lesson: “control was the key to success.”

“Really?” I ask myself.

I have doubted would I get lost, if I don’t have a leader and I don’t have anyone can follow or give me advice when I need help. Although I like to control my life most of time, but my desire is not as strong as Oprah, because I still confuse about myself and this unknown future sometime. I really admire those successful women whom knew what they want, where they need to go, and how they need to do. I want to ask them:”Would you worried if you fail?” because totally control means you need to take all responsibility to yourself, your company, and your staff. It’s a high risk, and it seems not everyone can control the “control.”

If we want to success, beside the desire of success and totally control your life, it seems we still need extra wisdom, talent, and lots of efforts.

Questiom #10. As you read today, what surprised you? Explain how this will affect the story or how it changed your thinking about the story.

One chapter of this book is talk about Anita Roddick who invented The Body Shop. Before reading this book, I haven’t been in “The Body shop,” I thought it’s just another cosmetic store. After I read this book, the Anita’s idea and faith is really surprised me.

She had insisted her faith, business was not just about making a profit, and she still a very successful woman. According my impression most of business people less care about the environment or the pollution. Especially when economy has been bad, most of them first give up the people and environment problems, and so on would start to think how to reduce cost and increase income, how to get cheaper material and sell higher price. But Anita always put benefits to the environment and customers first, like she always used natural ingredients, never tested products on animals. Her opinion was opposite to other business people, she thought that business could give her the opportunity to make the world a better place, not how to use this world let your business better.

I like her hold on herself view and still successful in profit part, and I really would like to believe we can both keep our charity and reality now, and I would want to go to “The Body Shop” and use Anita’s natural cosmetic in another day.

6. I like this book because it tells about women's successful. For years, the bosses of big business were nearly always men. They were often good at managing money, but bad at managing people. Most of them were good at selling traditional products, but bad at creating new ones. But in recent years, business has changed. Women are very successful. I think all women should read this book and realize themselves :)

19. I think the author wrote this book because he wants to show people how women will be success in business. If you are a woman who really wants to do something, you can do it! He tells five business success stories about different women who have been reached the top by themselves in very different way. They have all succeded by using their special skills to create completely new kinds of companies.

I wouldn't read this book if I saw it before; it was a homework for an English course I'm taking, yet it was very entertaining and quiet easy book..

Quotes:

" Dress badly, and people will notice the dress. Dress well and people will notice you " Coco Chanel

" Business is not about financial language. It is just about buying and selling and making a magical place where buyer and seller come together ". Antia Roddick

"Control was needed for real success"

When I was a child I dreamed of being one of those great women who changed the course of history. Names like Beyonce, Madonna and even Rigoberta Menchú sounded to me every time I heard their great feats. These daily readings about each one motivated me to be proud of myself no matter what people will say. This book changed my perspective of female impact in all areas and I know that all women can transform today's society.
Evans was a privileged writer who highlighted the great problems of our era as in this case, women and business. Although I feel that he lacked more names of famous women, his way of writing and expressing their situations makes me think about the great success they had over time. People should believe that this book has a captivating magic when reading the names of all those business women because thanks to them we can know a little more about their first fruits that the world can offer such us as fashion, technology among others. I had no favorite part of the book because being honest, the book has a spark that makes you reinvent and reflect on the role of women in the world. All those names moved an unknown part of me, a hardworking Negy and a trainer of unparalleled experiences. The message that the book gave me is always to be active at all times and not to give up until I reach it, a paragraph was enough for me to learn and become a new version of me.
In summary, this book filled me with shocking situations, but also with secret messages to motivate you and share your happiness with everyone around you. I highly recommend reading this book because of the stories reflected on it and motivations to continue with your life.

I felt like I had read this book in high school for homework. However, I liked to know how all those businesswomen handled their company, contract, and ambitions. Especially in Oprah Winfrey's chapter was overwhelming in that how well she made her shows into her own. Those long-lasting negotiations with TV stations must be dehumanizing...
Anyway, this book reminded me that, in today's business world, women are proving that they are better managers and that they know more about the lives of ordinary people.

Question 9

If I could ask a question to any of the 5 women which talk about the book I choose to Coco Chanel, Hanae Mori or Anita Roddick. I ask to any of them: How can I identify a business opportunity in a world where everything is already created?

I would ask them this question because someday I would like to have my own business but sometimes i think is difficult because first you have to find an opportunity, somerhing that is an innovation for people, something that differs from what already exists in the market; and second, I think that many new business need money to develop the idea and sometimes is hard to get money from financial sector.

Question 6

Of the 5 stories I identify with Coco Chanel because according to the book, she is risky, hard working, struggling, with business vision, persevering and very determined.

I like her stoty because she did not have money yo start a business; she only had an idea and she fellow her instinct to reach it and develop it. She worked hard and got a big fashion industry which after many years is still alive.
