The Time Writer and The Cloak
Beware of doorways through time… and dark alleys
Author Amelia Murray and her family travels to Edinburgh, Scotland, before their move to Washington DC. While picking up an overpriced cloak, she is chased into a close where she steps through a door and is thrust back to the late 17th Century.
Amelia, believing she is somehow stuck in the middle of a renaissance fair, visits Edinburgh Castle, helps thwart a kidnapping, and finds herself in a pub mingling with pirates.
She must find her way home and to her own time, while avoid being thrown in prison as a witch.
How will she get back to her time when she doesn’t realize that she has been thrown back three hundred years into the past?

A very well written story that involves time travel to the past. The Author does a wonderful job in painting a vivid and detailed explanation of what it would be like for a person from modern times to suddenly find themselves thrust centuries into the past and trying to come terms with the reality of the impending situation and all that it entails.
I was quite invested in this story and already bought the next two books in the series. I listened to the Audiobook version, and the narrator (Cassandra) did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life.

This is a great introduction to the well-developed universe and entertaining characters of A Historical Time Travel Adventure series. And, I am looking forward to reading this entire series.

With characters you can relate to, a history rich with detail and a plot which will drive you to turn the pages, the Time Writer and the cloak is a fun and easy read to set you up for the rest of the series. I really enjoyed this quick and accessible prequel, following the adventures of Amelia as she accidentally steps back in time to Edinburgh in the 1700's. Very atmospheric and full of twists and turns.

Overall a fun, short story. Perfect for young or new readers. You can hear the author in a very endearing way. Vivid imagery and a silly, relatable main character. My issues are mostly with editing and writing skill level but I think this is an author with so much potential and lovely, distinct voice.

This is a short story. It pulls you into what Amelia is doing after she gets the Cloak. I won't give a spoiler. Alex I want more Amelia adventures!
