Humor/Motivational This is a story about life at its verey best. It is a story about incredible parents, incredible family, incredible people, and an incredible community. It is also a story about an incredible profession. But more than anything, it is a story of an incredible God who has proven himself over an over to us all.

Great little book written from a fourth-generation funeral director from Kennesaw, GA. Hilarious! *this author would make a great speaker for any kind of meeting*

Some people are natural storytellers. They can hold an audience rapt with their recounting of fact or fiction. Sometimes, those natural storytellers are very funny, especially if they have a position in life (like undertaker) that lends itself to not taking oneself too seriously. Almost invariably, the humorous storyteller will finish his speech to a gathering, whether large or small, and someone will come up to the storyteller, and say to him, "You are so funny and you have so many great stories! You should write a book!"

Sometimes, said storyteller will take those many persons at their words, and write a book. Sometimes, it's a very funny book and the writer (or ghost writer) will be able to translate the amusing anecdotes into a funny book. This is not one of those cases. Vignettes that may be hilarious when told by Mr Goddard in person come across as flat. The structure of the book telegraphs his public speaking--I found it more interesting to deliberate which anecdotes end up in his long speeches and which are cut out for the shorter ones. I'm sure he's a much better speaker than he is an author.

Preferable to superficial grief counseling today ( too politically correct to say a humble word for a good God ) " View from a Hearse " , by Joseph Bayly, is a heartfelt gift to anybody who must witness the unkind, un-pretty death of an innocent child , beloved family member or dear friend.
It must at times seem unctuous to agnostics and hard core atheists . But no human being with a spark of humanity will scorn a mournful mother thinking her dead child is in " a better place ".
Militant hostility to FAITH can only end in a despairing human race

Very touching book

Funny true stories from an undertaker. Touching stories of growing up in a small town where everyone knows you. I could feel the love.
