Cara Kendall wants an easy life after being liberated from jail. Cara breaks into houses of the rich, but one night she makes a mistake, and breaks into a house with a dead body inside. I didn't know who I could trust in this twist filled read. I was pulled into this gangland crime book by the end of the first chapter. Someone wants something from Cara, but she doesn't know what it is. she's also being followed. The characters are well developed. This is a gritty, gripping and well written book. This was my first read by the author, but it won't be my last.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #LittleBrwbBookGroupUK and the author #RobertaKray for my ARC of #Hunted in exchange for an honest review.
A gangland whodunit Cara is fresh out of jail and as she returns to the estate she loathes she discovers something shocking has happened to her on/off boyfriend on the same day…..he had a secret, something he was guarding, but wnat was it? And who was he hiding it from?……it seems that everyone involved now thinks Cara has the item and so she begins to be hunted for it,the problem is she isen’t sure who is doing the hunting or what they are trying to find…..the chase is now on and Cara cannot trust anyone even those wanting to help because someone, maybe more than one will stop at nothing to get what they think she has… Ferociously real and having the usual readability of this authors books we are taken through a frantic twist and turn story that had me foiled and fooled and kept me guessing as to the outcome Real, exciting,no holds barred action in this gritty drama that keeps full pace from page 1 to the last sentence
Love the Gangland thriller books I’ve read a lot of them Roberta Kray never disappoints It was a great page turner Never realised who the killer was So was shocked when found out who it was Anyone who is in to this type of book should read
Cara Kendall is released from HMP Leaside after a eighteen month stretch and Jimmy Lovell is nowhere to be seen so unreliable their relationship was on the rocks anyway before she got banged up but he promised the week before " I'll be there babe" well she was not hanging around. She had freedom with the smell of London, a black BMW was slowing down and it wasn't Jimmy whoever it was must have mistook her for someone else and paranoia creeps in is she been hunted down? Jimmy Lovell may not be around no more but he brings loads more trouble for Cara as you read on. What a fantastic read this is a unputdownable gripping read from the start to the end, I loved reading it.
This was a really good read that I flew through. I thought Cara was a loveable character despite her misdemeanours and I wanted a happy ending for her (even though those don't come very often in a crime novel!) I felt that some parts of the book could have been condensed as it did feel a bit slow occasionally. I wonder if it would have been nice to have 'met' Jimmy in the book before his death, so that the reader could warm to him more and feel more eager to find out who had killed him. The ending was fantastic, I couldn't fault it. I was convinced I had sussed out the killer and I was totally wrong. I love it when that happens, it's always the sign of a good author!
A chip off the old block, like father like daughter, Cara Kendall is a burglar, she steals from the rich… Just released from prison after getting caught in a house in Hampstead, wasn’t the half of it, a dead body is found in one of the rooms and the police think she is implicated. Her ex has been murdered and she’s being followed, there’s a killer out there…Cara needs to find some answers and fast. Kray is good at writing about tough women and gritty story lines, throw into the mix a tough London neighbourhood and some mean local gangsters, you have the ingredients for a great read.
Hunted was a gripping tale, leading your thoughts in many different directions. I must admit I was wrong on every one of them, ha ha. Roberta is a very talented writer, keeping you guessing and on the edge of your seat. Well done if you guess all the twists and connections. Excellently written.
Never heard of Roberta Kray, picked it up thinking it was a Martina Cole book as the covers were similar. Review on the front compared it to Martina Cole so I thought I'd give it a whirl.
Great crime novel, really enjoyed it. Easy to read, likeable characters, decent plot, few twists.
Quite enjoyed this though don’t really think it’s in quite the same league as Martina Cole. However, although not as gritty, the plot was excellent. Enjoyed the ending and the twists throughout. Well written and executed. Would recommend.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I can usually have an idea of who the guilty party is and how the story ends, not this time it had me trying to work it out until the end. Excellent👍
A brilliant well crafted ending! Had me gripped from around 60% way through. A bit slow at the start but I never saw the ending coming! I highly recommend this book! Kust be patient!
Favourite Quote: That night, the one before Cara got out of jail, still haunted his dreams. It was frustration that had led him to Jimmy Lovell’s door, his determination to have one last try at prising the truth out of him about Hampstead. But he hadn’t been Jimmy’s only visitor that evening. If Jimmy hadn’t laughed in his face, hadn’t goaded him about his obsession with Cara, he would never have lashed out. One punch was all it had taken. He could still hear that crack as Jimmy’s head hit the side of the sink. Larry winced.
Favourite Quote: The bus eventually arrived, and Cara got on, climbing up the steps to the top deck. She made her way along the aisle to an empty front seat and sat down. As a kid this was always the place she’d loved most, high above the hustle and bustle, like being on top of the world. Now she used it as a vantage point to gaze down on the streets of London, checking out what might have changed while she’d been away, not much, by the looks of it, and whether there was any sign of the BMW.
What an incredible read! This book was an absolute rollercoaster, keeping me on the edge of my seat with chills and suspense until the very end. The shocking twists and turns, along with an unexpected plot twist, left me speechless. The revelation about the protagonist’s father was heart-wrenching, why didn’t he tell her? The novel is brilliantly written, featuring hilarious scenes and an intriguing protagonist. The author clearly has a deep understanding of gangsters, making it feel like a story straight from the life of a Kray gangster’s wife.
I would totally recommend this book to anyone who loves psychological thrillers. I would give the plot, characters, and ease of reading 5 out 5.

Absolutely love books by this author and this one is no different , its brilliant ! We follow Cara and her life as a girl criminal . Some things she gets away with and some not . Newly out of prison and expecting her boyfriend to meet her at the prison gate , he is a no- show . Things go from bad to worse when she makes her own way home and finds that he has subletted her home. Loved the character Cara and the people ( good & bad ) that she comes across. This would make a good tv series of drama.
After being released from prison Cara Kendall just wants a quite life but what you want and what you get are two different things. She visits her on off boyfriend to see why he hasn't picked her up on her release as promised only to find him dead, for a split second she wants to run but calls 999 which leads to a second shock of the day DI Larry Steadman arrives the man who helped to put her in prison before and he'd love to put her there again. She soon notices she's being followed by not one by two people. She receives a note telling her to give IT back but has no idea what IT is.She now has to work fast to find out what they want before the killer finds her. Another brilliant read from Roberta Kray that I highly recommend. Thanks to Netgalley and Little Brown Book UK for the ARC.

A great story with lots of tension and the sub plot of Cara being blamed and chased by people who think she has / had something to do with what her boyfriend did when she was away. Roberta Kray has such a way of bringing a crime novel to life and a way of getting under the skin of her protagonist. Excellent read.

Always love books written by this author. This latest offering follows cara as she is released from prison after 18 months for burglary. Her ex, Jimmy, fails to show to give her a lift and upon attending his flat she finds his battered deceased body. Jimmy seems to have engaged with some shady characters in Cara’s absence and somehow managed to involve an innocent cara in his dealings. Trouble follows causing cara to fear for her life and face events and secrets from her past.
This story develops slowly but is a thoroughly enjoyable read.
Hunted. Another great read from a very good Author. i've read a number of the books by this author and she is a very clever story teller. Gripping and thrilling all her books have you hooked. Great gangland crime trhirllers. Cara was a very likable character and I found myself backing her the whole way through the book. No nonsense woman she will do what is needed to protect herself. This was an easy, gripping read. Once started it was difficult to put down. I have no issues with recommending this book to anyone who likes a good gangland read.
I couldn't trust anyone in this book, who is lying, who knows the truth, a real page turner that will keep you guessing.
I really felt for Cara, just goes to show you cannot trust anyone, she had served her time and all she wanted was a peaceful life, well you certainty are not getting that in kellston not with the notorious Terry Street about.
Another brilliant twisty gangland thriller from Roberta, each book gets better and better
