I have a problem. I'm a readaholic. Once I start a book, I just have to finish it. Of the thousands of books I've read over my life, I can probably count the ones I couldn't finish on two hands. I did finish "Every Time We Kiss" by Christie Kelley. But it also became a struggle at times. I think my problem stemmed mainly from my dislike of the heroine and the horrible sense of selfishness I felt from her actions.

Lady Jennette has been in mourning for five long years since the death of her fiance. Her outward mourning is really more of a cover for her sense of guilt over his death...and her attraction to his best friend. Although a beauty, she's decided she doesn't deserve happiness and therefore has vowed not to marry.

Matthew is the newly ascended Earl of Blackburn. For five years he has been reviled by the ton for unintentionally killing his best friend, Jennette's fiance. Unfortunately for him, the title doesn't come with the necessary funds to keep his tenants and estates viable so he must marry for money. Of course, trying to marry anyone while being considered a black sheep tends to be a bit difficult so he throws himself on Jennette's mercy and asks her to help him find a suitable bride or marry him herself. Truly the actions of a scoundrel!

Let me be honest here. Jennette was a selfish twit and Matthew was either very stupid or a saint. I just could NOT 'buy' this plot. BOTH of them suffering for five long years for something that could have been cleared up fairly easily. They had such a strong attraction for each other that they could only stay apart by never seeing each other so I guess that's one reason for all the angst in the plot, but it was just too much for me.

"Every Time We Kiss" is a fairly quick read. If you enjoy the long-suffering hero type and the helplessly virtuous victim heroine...then you'll really enjoy Christie Kelley's story. I like her writing style, but this plot just about did me in!

jennette sudah tumbuh menjadi gadis yg anggun, klasik & cantik.
tanpa sadar matthew malah mengancam jennette untuk menjadi istrinya.
matthew memberi jennette 1 bulan untuk mencarikan matthew calon istri yg sesuai & jika gagal maka jennette sendiri yg harus menjadi countess blackburn.

dibuku ini aq benar2 ga suka & ga respek sama sekali dengan heroine-nya.

dia takut jika dia kekeuh membela matthew maka orang akan skandal makin besar maka dia membiarkan matthew begitu saja sbg kambing hitam.
dulu jennette membela matthew tp tidak ada yg mendengarkan, lalu bagaimana??? dia diam saja khan???
jennette yg membunuh tp orang lain yg harus menanggung kesalahannya tp jennette sendiri tidak memiliki keinginan yg cukup kuat untuk memblea laki2 tersebut.

matthew melakukan banyak hal untuk jennette harusnya setidaknya berikanlah sedikit kepercayaan pada matthew bukannya begitu vannesa memberitahu semua orang siapa pembunuh john yg sebenarnya eh jennette langsung menuduh matthew yg menyuruh vannesa menyebarkan hal tersebut.
bukannya memberi kesempatan matthew menjelaskan dia malah kabur.

yeah yeah yeah teruslah berlari. emang hal yg paling bisa dilakukannya hanya bisa berlari setiap ada kesulitan.

lagian ngapain dia malu??? emang itu kenyataannnya khan?? belajar hadapi kenyataan kenapa!!!

Hehe...banyak yang sebel ya sama Jeanette? Biasa aja sih saya, tapi sukaaaa sama Matthew. Kenapa Christie Kelley selalu sukses bikin hero yang loveable ya?

Di pagi yg berembun, Mattew memojokkan Jannet dan menyatakan perasaan cinta terlarang pada tunangan sahabatnya sendiri Jhon serta mengatakan bahwa Jhon tdk setia pada Jannet selama masa pertunangan mereka dan tidak bisa terus bersama mereka berdua jika pertunangan itu tetap berlanjut hingga berakhir pada Mattew mencium Jannet. satu kesalahan yang berefek pd kesalahan lain.

Jannet yg sedari awal mempertakan "benarkah dia mencintai tunangannya, Jhon?!" merasa tersengat listrik dan ribuan kupu2 menari2 dalam perutnya ketika Mattew menciumnya. Salah.. sangat salah, mungkin sudah saatnya Jannet memutuska pertunangan dgn Jhon pagi itu. kesalahan kedua kr mengambil keputusan pd waktu yg tidak tepat.

Pada saat Jhon menawarkan permainan pedang kepada Jannet, dengan sikap jumawa Jannet mengambil pedang dari tangan Mattew dan bersikukuh akan menunjjukkan pada Mattew bahwa dia bukan wanita lemah yg kekanak2an seperti dugaan pria itu selama ini. Mattew memperingatkan Jannet agar berhati2 karena rumput masih terlalu basah dan licin, Jannet tdk memperdulikan saran tersebut tetap mengabil pedang tersebut dan memasang kuda2. kesalahan ke berikutnya yg sangat fatal!.

Ternyata dengan kehadiran Mattew di pinggir lapangan, konsentrasi Jannet bubar dan dia tergelincir jatuh menimpa Jhon dgn pedang yg menghujam ke jantung Jhon. panik dan Jhonpun sekarat! dgn sisa2 nafas yg ada Jhon berhasil membuat Mattew berjanji bahwa pria itu akan melindungi nama baik Jannet dan keluarganya. jadilah Mattew mengaku pada seluruh dunia bahwa dia yg menusuk Jhon dgn tdk sengaja dan mengancam Jannet agar tutup mulut selama sisa hidupnya. Mattew pun diasingkan dari sosialita para ton dan reputasinya sbg pembunuh mengucilkannya. itu 5th yg lalu...

Tidak ada yg menduga bahwa Mattew akan mewasisi gelar Earl of Blackburn setelah kematian ayah dan kakaknya, serta mendapati bahwa keluarganya jatuh miskin akibat kebiasaan kakak dan ayahnya di meja judi.. yah, hanya satu yg bisa menyelamatkan semua nya "mencari istri yg kaya serta terpandang" kaya untuk menutup hutang keluarganya dan terpandang untuk mengangkat reputasinya. tapi bagaimana bisa? dia sudah dikucilkan selama hampir 5th setiap wanita akan ketakutan padanya dan tdk ada bangsawan yg mau mengundangnya ke pesta2 dan jamuan2 yg ada.. hanya ada satu bantuan yg dgn pasti akan membantunya, Jannet...

Jannet hidup 5th dgn rasa bersalah yg amat sangat mencekik, di ulang tahunnya yg ke 25th dan mewarisi sejumlah uang dari neneknya dia memuruskan untuk pergi ke Florence dan belajar seni melukis. atau itulah alasan yg dia berikan kepada keluarga dan sahabat2nya, tdk ada yg mengetahui bahwa Jannet berniat untuk mengundurkan diri dari sosialita kr sekarang Mattew harus kembali kpd masyarakat setelah menjadi Earl dan mencari istri serta menghasilkan pewaris. kini adalah saat bagi Mattew, masanya sudah habis. Mattew sudah memberikan hidup yg damai padanya selama 5th ini dan dikucilkan dari masyarakat. namun bagaimana jadinya jika Mattew datang menemui Jannet dan mengancamnya untuk menikah dgnnya atau semua rahasia mereka 5th yg lalu akan dibongkarnya?? yah.. hanya ada satu pilihan, Jannet membantu Mattew mencari seorang istri dan mendaki tangga sosialita kembali. tidak mudah.. tidak akan mudah dengan semua percikan yg semakin menguat di antara mereka...

huaaahh... karakternya tdk sebagus buku 1 si, mkn karena segala rahasia yg mereka miliki hehe.. suka series ini pokokna.. hip hip...

penasaran tingkat tinggi sama bukunya Viscount Antony Somerton yg bereputasi rake tp membantu Sopie menjodohkan Banning-Avis serta Mattew-Jannet karena menginginkan satu nama wanita.. siapaaaa???!!! *jreng2*

This is one of those books I just couldn't get through. I couldn't even feel GUILTY about not finishing it, that's how displeased I was by this book and how much I loathed the heroine.

I'll do this MOSTLY spoiler free but hey, some stuff is better with context so sorry ahead of time if anything slips...


First off, Jennette was a spoiled, selfish, grade A BITCH. She's so focused on HER reputation despite how much she OWES the hero, that she just completely and utterly throws the hero under the bus more than once. She treats him like shit and he just takes it cause not only is he relying on her mercy to help him find a wife (aka help him secure the future of his estate and his tenants) but also because he has NO ONE ELSE. He's shunned from society and anyone who's "anyone" wouldn't be caught dead (no pun intended) with him. So it's not like he has a lot of fucking options when it comes to acquaintances let alone ALLIES. But fuck him right, she has her OWN problems like being pretty and well off and looked upon kindly by others (since she, oh idk, WASN'T accused of killing her fiance).



She demanded that he give, give, give, and yet refused- didn't seem to cross her mind- to give him SOMETHING; be it her trust, her loyalty, or even her fucking friendship. She was ashamed of him despite the whole fucking situation (both his and her's) being HER FAULT and to top it all off she doesn't even trust him?!?!? Seriously??



She hung him out to dry for years, letting HIM take the fall for HER killing her fiance by accident, leaves and then when he comes to her asking- no begging- for help she refuses??!?! And instead gives him an alternative that probably won't work. All the while not taking his side or trusting him throughout the whole book, despite what he did and continued to due for her.




Bitch, please.




So pretty much the heroine ruined this book for me completely. I don't understand how the hero could fall in love with such a spoiled piece of shit and I not once believed the "romance" going on between them. Mainly cause the heroine was whiny and couldn't seem to even give the hero her trust let alone "love" him. That along with the fact that she was TSTL made her even worse in my book. She was constantly doing stupid things that no adult in their right mind would do and causing problems where their were none.



It didn't help that the book came off too angsty and was riddled with unnecessary drama. "Problems" in the book could have been shortened up or fixed with an easy solution but were instead dragged on to the point of nausea(see really stupid heroine rant above).

Overall, (excluding the shitty heroine) this book was one of those "woe is me" books that are dragged on till the last possible moment and then cleaned up into a nice, neat, little bow right at the end. If you're into that you might like this book. But me? Fuck no.

I liked this book but the major theme of guilt became drawn out and long. I liked how the hero loved the heroine and was devoted to do anything to help her even when he needed help himself. I liked the secondary characters as well. This was the second in the series so I wll have to go back to the first one.

Started out well, but then the whole plot just got to be too much. I found myself skimming through quite a bit of it just so I can say I finished it. Glad Jennette got her HEA but she could have had it a lot sooner if she wasn't being TSTL. Unfortunately, it might take me awhile to finish this series - book 1 I really enjoyed, but after reading this one I've had enough for awhile.

Ugh, this one just was not what I remember. Janette sucks sooo much. What a freaking annoying FMC!
Mathew is honesty not that much better. The story just dragged and dragged because it was the same shit being discussed throughout the story. I’m making not that should I was to reread this series again in the future I can 100% skip this one. I would definitely say that each story could and is totally a stand alone. You of course have building mini stories within the story but it’s not necessarily must know information for the next book.

The book is nice,,,,, 😊but not as hot as I expected. There is this man Matthew,, who has a best friend called John and is engaged to Jennette. Jennette is attracted to Matthew and she kills him"" intentionally" ". But John tells Matthew to protect her name,,, and hence Matthew's name is destroyed. This forces his to look for a wife who is beautiful, well petite and has wealth with a good name so as to refurbish his name back.. Everytime she kisses Jennette there feelings grow. Read more to find what happens. ASAP

Setelah mendapatkan calon untuk Matthew, kini malah Jenette yang ternakar rasa cemburu ketika pria itu tersenyum kepada wanita lain. Dan Matthew tidak membantu, pria itu malah selalu mengikuti dan membayanginya..

Buku ini adalah buku Christie Kelley yang pertama kali aku baca... Dan aku nyesel gak baca dari buku satunya tentang kakak Jenette, Banning, dengan Avis. Sepertinya seru karena wanitanya itu agak keras kepala dan mandiri. Kebayang deh keduanya pasti sering berantem. Entar cari ah pas bookfair :)

Kembali ke kedua tokoh utama kita. Seru nih ceritanya buatku. Karakternya lucu sih, malu-malu mau. Hwhwhwh.. Matthew awalnya bersikap gentleman, tapi akhirnya gak tahan juga ama godaan. Jenette juga gak membantu =P

Ceritanya sendiri bikin aku gregetan soalnya penasaran kapan akhirnya mereka bersatu?? Tapi menunggu yang berdebar-debar karena pendekatan Matthew ke Jenette. Belum lagi si Somerton yang bikin lucu dan penasaran. Dia menginginkan nama wanita, siapa??

Overall, ceritanya seru sih. Termasuk bacaan ringan dan cepat juga. Aku bakal baca karya dia yang lain juga :)

I read the reviews of other readers, okay. And it wasn't bad but definitely not good. Well, I 'm happy I still read it despite that because actually, it was a very good story. I never really expect that Jenette would have that kind of secret or rather be that coward even in the past because she appears to have a very strong backbone to me in the first book. I know the synopsis doesn't tell anything about the story and the not so good review from other readers doesn't help elevate the worth of the book. The story goes like this. Matthew, the new Earl of Blackburn is in need of a wealthy and with good reputation wife to pay out his father's and elder brother's debt but it's hard to accomplish that when the ton cannot even give him warm welcome because they believe he was the one who killed his bestfriend who is the betrothed of Lady Jenette at that time. But there was more to story than what they made it to appear. It's your choice to find it out. I cannot even clearly grasped what happened at that momentous event wih the bits revealed by the author at the start of the story. I think it was good because it keeps you on the edge, hoping the author would have the heart to reveal it sooner than later. This just had me wondering, are there no americans available as his bride? Well, it was just a thought. This story just keep me excited for the story of the other ladies in the so-called Spinster Club, courtesy to Lord Selby.

And I also want and desperately hoped for a Sophie and Anthony story, entitled "The Matchmaker and Her Assistant". Lol. He's just so adorable!!!

Kesan Ke Heroine nya Terlalu Keras Hati dengan Kemauannnya .....An Juga Terlalu Lembek ...mudah banget klepek/Lumer di dekat Mathew...

Nie cerita Berputar Dengan Kesalahan MAsa lalu ...yang sebenarnya Kesalahan Jenanine Tertimpakan ke Mathew ,.....Akibatnya Si Mathew Yang Kondisi keuangannya Lagi jelek sepeninggal Ortu dan kakaknya yang telah menghabiskan harta Keluarga mereka di meja judi .....Mathew harus Berjuang mencari jodoh ...yang memilki mahar besar .... Nah karna dia susah masuk di kalangan Elite ,,,,dia meminta bantuan ke jenaine .....
jenaine Terpaksa membantunya karna rasa bersalah akibat keslahan nya tempo dulu....

Ada rahasia di antara Jenette dan Matthew yang sudah tersimpan selama beberapa tahun. Rahasia yang membuat Matthew dicap buruk oleh masyarakat karena membunuh sahabatnya, John, yang tidak lain adalah tunangan Jenette. Matthew dikucilkan dari berbagai pesta. Saat ini, Matthew menginginkan kembali reputasinya untuk menyelamatkan estate keluarganya. Dan dia membutuhkan bantuan Jenette.

Awalnya Matthew melontarkan keinginan untuk menikahi Jenette agar reputasinya bisa pulih. Lagipula, Jenette memiliki warisan yang bisa digunakannya untuk menyelamatkan estatenya. Tapi Jenette berpikir lain, dia tidak mungkin menikah dengan Matthew. Dia pun menawarkan untuk mencari calon istri bagi Matthew. Namun yg terjadi ketika ada wanita yang dekat dengan Matthew, Jenette justru merasa cemburu. Rasa cemburu Jenette semakin besar setelah dia merasakan kehangatan ciuman Matthew.

Agak membosankan membaca progress Jenette mencarikan istri untuk Matthew, sementara dia sendiri cemburu dan ingin berada di pelukan Matthew. Apalagi setelah dia menyerahkan keperawananannya untuk Matthew. Matthew sendiri tidak bisa melepaskan pesona Jenette. Setiap kali dia menyentuh Jenette, akan berakhir dengan ciuman dan sekedar ciuman saja tentu tidak cukup.

Jenette sendiri adalah karakter yang keras kepala. Meski apa yang dia lakukan adalah untuk melindungi nama baik keluarganya. Untungnya ada Sommerton dan Sophie yang menjadi penengah. Seperti halnya campur tangan mereka saat menjodohkan Avis dan Banning (kakaknya Jenette), kali ini keduanya bertindak lagi sebagai mak comblang.

It started off good, but the ending ruined it all. It started with how Matthew lived a poor life because of crime he didn't commit. He was accused of murder, when all he did was covered up another's mistake. Jenette's. She accidentally killed her own fiancee, but in his deathbed, the fiancee made Matthew promised to covered up for Jennete's mistake, and he agreed. Now, after five years, he was in need of wife, who had a brilliant reputation and wealth, or he'd be thrown out off his home. He then seek for Jenette, asking for her hand in marriage. Jennete refused, but promised to help him find a wife. Their attraction were still going strong even when they were in search of a wife.

Jenette was a very annoying heroine. She was so selfish she didn't want to ruin her reputation because she was afraid of ruining her family's reputation too, but she didn't hesitate to ruin Matthew's instead. And even after the helps Matthew did to her, she still doubt him numerous times, it seems she didn't trust him at all, even though she claimed she loved him.

The worst part is when Vanessa, Matthew's ex-mistress, announced that it was Jenette who killed her fiancee five years ago, she assumed the worst of Matthew. She accused he had Vanessa to announced her crime because he didn't need her anymore when she had no money. And then she escaped!

How could she doubt him when all he did was protecting her?!? Despicable!

Buku ini mengobati kegersangan yg gw alami krn ga nemu" buku yang bagus abis baca Bones buku ke-4. Saking ramenya cuman membutuhkan waktu 5 1/2 jam utk nyeleseinnya, sayang sebenernya, krn biz ini pasti bgg mo baca buku apa lagi.
Jalan ceritanya ga neko", to the point, alur percintaannya jg ga berbelit", kedua tokohnya ga muna utk ngakuin perasaannya, cuma kendala sosial yang bikin susah mrk. Gw suka ma tokoh Matthew, walo ud terpuruk ga membuat dia jadi cowo menyebalkan, Jeannette juga ga nyebelin bgt kya tokoh belakangan ini yg suka bikin gw esmosi jiwa ngebacanya, walo dia tajir, cakep n memiliki segalanya, ga bikin dia jd tokoh yg sulit, walo agak" keras kepala namun ga nyebelin" amat n tobatnya ga diakhir" doang.
Asyik pokoknya baca nih novel, alurnya ngalir, ga berasa tau" d selesai ;p

I really enjoyed this book. I have to disagree with some of the reviews that Jeannette was a b*tch or a twit. I really liked her. There was good chemistry and some good sex. The story line was good as well as all the secondary characters.

I had to force myself to finish this book. The h was unbearably stupid bitch. She had money and came from aristocratic family and the society would have forgiven her for almost anything while the H almost lost everything and had nobody on his side. He was much more vulnerable than the ungrateful stupid bitch h. The least she could do was to marry him and cut the bullshit with finding him some other woman to put her own responsibility to make amends on. The h just didn't want to accept the consequences. Btw I just loved the H.

Apparently there is such a thing as too much drama. This book went from interesting to repetitive real quick. When I was 2/3 through the book, I was ready for it to end. After an amazing first book in the series, this one was a let down. Though I have high hopes for the next one.

Lots of misunderstanding and guilt. I like the story though the story could be shorten since what they are feeling, the guilt, the attraction all the angst has been drawn out throughout the book. I enjoy reading it and I recommend it. I gave this book 3.5 stars.

lady jannette dan lord blackburnnya sama2 galau. udah tau perasaannya masing2, tapi adaaa aja alasannya kalau mereka ga sharusnya menikah.
