Esther dropped her handbag on the dinette table and hustled into the kitchen to heat water for tea.“What are you reading, Mamma?”“Oh, that little book of yours. I’m glad you finally found it, dear. I still think it reads funny, the language and all, but I kind of like it for some reason. It seems to calm me, somehow. You know what I mean?”“What little book, Mamma? My book was stolen, you know that.”“Well, I thought maybe the police recovered it for you. It was lying right here on the end table like always when I came home from the grocers this afternoon.”Esther numbly walked back into the living room and stared at Momma… and the book.“Is there something wrong, dear? You’re grey as a ghost!”
"Book of Troubles" is a captivating narrative that begins with Esther's return home to find a mysteriously reappeared book, believed to be stolen. The dialogue between Esther and her mother unveils the book's peculiar language and calming influence, adding an element of mystique. Wood crafts suspense and curiosity, in my opinion, suggesting supernatural undertones through the title and Esther's reaction. The story promises a journey through human complexities, propelled by the mysterious impact of an ostensibly ordinary book. Wood's skillful storytelling blends the mundane with the enigmatic, making this book a compelling read that engages me and intrigues me, leaving me eager to unravel the secrets within. If you want to spend a good time reading, you will love this book.
If you are looking for a good story that opens your imagination and excites you, you just have to read ''Book of Troubles'', a mystery story that involves a writer and her missing book. This mystery and fantasy novel is one of the best I have read in recent days. I have to say that the way the author describes everything makes it easy to get hooked on the book. This is the kind of book that allows you to participate and enjoy solving the mystery like a puzzle. You are going to enjoy this book from the beginning. It is very well-developed, I highly recommend this book written by John Sutter Wood.
Esther is robbed and has her purse snatched. Within it is a book she can't afford to lose so she reports the mugging and loss. Garrett is s police officer who is invested in Esther, especially once they get to know each other. There are wired things happening, as the book suddenly turns back up in Esther's home. This story was full of mystery and clues that I was happy to follow through the book, learning new information about both Esther and Garrett. Very entertaining story

This boom is fiction writing at it best. This is no mystery nor sci-fi but it is intriguing. Why the change? How will it effect the people? Will we grow or die? There are why and answers. Sometimes you read a book for enjoyment Well here and enjoy
What an amazingly charming book. It's so very hard to find good books these days that are easy reads with no swearing, or sexual overtones. I read this in one sitting, could not out the book down.
