Prim and proper Elizabeth Marks has the perfect life: a big house, the right friends, credit cards galore, and a handsome husband. Until the perfect man leaves her for another woman.
Enter Poppy Robbins, bubbly Canadian barista and eternal optimist. Elizabeth thinks Poppy’s just the person to help her wreak revenge on her cheating husband. Poppy thinks Elizabeth is seriously attractive. And only slightly crazy.
But when Poppy moves in with Elizabeth and the plans for vengeance get more detailed, both women find that they can’t quite concentrate on the matters at hand...
Sometimes, finding what you haven’t been looking for is just the ticket. And with Kaftan-clan theater directors, a very much not-dead body (or should that be a dead not-body?), interfering friends by the handful, and one homeless man with a heart of gold, plans can only go awry. Which for Elizabeth and Poppy might just mean that there can be a happy ending after all…
The Revenge Plot is a standalone lesbian romance with a very happy ending from bestselling Sapphic author Sienna Waters, author of The Wrong Date, Crossing the Pond, and A Quiet Life.
Elizabeth Marks’ world is about to crumble to the ground when her husband leaves her for another woman. Elizabeth has never worked, paid a bill or even to a grocery store to buy food. She is a fine example of prim and privileged. Poppy Robbins is an expat Canadian who is working as a barista in London. Poppy sees the world as one big possibility.
This is my first exposure to novelist Sienna Waters and I definitely have some catching up to do on her backlist. Waters creates two polar opposites in Elizabeth and Poppy and yet she composes a smart set of circumstances to bring them together in a natural and realistic manner. This story is also disparate from most romance novels as it adds the element of revenge. Adding all this to the engaging writing style and you have an entertaining novel.

Elizabeth and Poppy two characters who couldn’t be more different but still fit perfectly in the end. These are the two MCs in the newest Sienna Waters story. Once again I had the best time reading it. I laughed so many times, because the already mentioned differences just make the perfect foundation.
Elizabeth the stern, posh and just all in all English woman, loves her order and when things are they way they should be. Or more so she loves them to be. But her perfect life falls apart when her husband leaves her and she suddenly realises that she has no idea how to actually handle her life. Like finances, actual food shopping etc. But what’s even more important at first is that she can’t let him do this. She wants revenge and her life back.
Poppy seems to be the perfect partner in crime. Needing a place to stay and having a boss, who takes advantage of her more often than not, she doesn’t hesitate for one second to help Elizabeth in her plan. But of course things turn out differently and what both definitely didn’t expect before is the influence the other has on them.
Like I already mentioned I just had the best time to read about this try for revenge, them spending time together and I was also surprised more than once. There are also some hilarious side characters. Most of all in Elizabeth’s friends, the three A‘s (Alexandra, Arabella and Amanda). I won’t reveal too much about them, but they are definitely good for more than only gossiping. Just read and see yourself. ☺️
When I finished the book, I finished it with a smile on my face. This is one of the things Sienna Waters does to me every book and I’m very grateful for it. As usual I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves rom-coms. And even if you don’t, you may get surprised and like it in the end. 😉

Revenge is sweet so it is said but it can also backfire unless fate steps in. Poppy and Elizabeth are so different it is ludicrous to think that anything between them will work. A Canadian who is a people pleaser and continually taken advantage of. The Englishwoman, an uptight, everything in it's place wife who finally gets dumped by her serial two timing (with the wife's permission) husband. The author's lead characters just shouldn't mesh but a clever storyline, lots of second guessing, dollops of humor, tinges of sadness, appropriate heat and a supporting cast that steps in when needed all lead to a wonderful book. I loved Elizabeth's growth from a financially unaware wife and cold character to a woman capable of handling her affairs and more in touch with the feelings of others. Of course Poppy has a huge hand in that and I can't forget Elizabeth's best pals the three "A's". It is lovely also to see Poppy's "doormat" attitude set aside, her confidence emerge and deserved recognition received. The HEA takes time but fits perfectly. I easily recommend this 5 star read now on my favorite's shelf.
I love both Poppy and Elizabeth. Poppy is always do good deeds, but never speaks up for herself. Elizabeth may want everything perfect but inside she is a mess and needs a good soul like Poppy in her life. They may come from different worlds and classes, but they connect emotionally. This is a funny & sweet low angst romance.

Such a pleasure to read. This was so enjoyable. I loved the characters who were so different. My eyebrows went up as I thought, These two? Just how? But they worked. The plot was entertaining…hilarious and sometimes a little bit sad. It all came together so well. Another great read from Sienna Waters. So worth your precious reading time.

5 stars! Kindle unlimited Oh my god the ending of this book is cuteness overload!!! Cute cute cute cute cute cute cute! I wasn’t sure at first if I’d finish the book but I’m so glad I did because like I said; CUTE!!!
I found this little gem on my TBR shelves! I LOVE this book! Poppy is a fun loving, optimistic person. She believes that the world will take care of things. Elizabeth is an older, wealthy control freak. Elizabeth's husband Eli has cheated on her during the whole 12 yrs they were married. However, he's fallen in love with the last girlfriend, Sally, and is leaving Elizabeth. You wouldn't think that Poppy and Elizabeth would get along, but they work. Especially when they agree to help one another. Poppy will lure Eli into a lesson with Elizabeth taking pictures and she in turn will dupe Jeremy, Poopy's boss who's taking advantage of her at work. Little did Elizabeth think she'd fall in love with Poppy, and vice a verse. This is a cute, light hearted age gap love story. 5 stars!
I really enjoyed this book by Sienna Waters. I loved the 'opposite attract' and the 'grumpy/sunshine' tropes. It really worked with this story.
Elizabeth's cheating husband leaves her when he falls in love with the latest woman. He does this in Poppy's cafe, right in front of her. Using the excuse that she was too controlling and he hadn't loved her in a while, Elizabeth comes up with a plan with Poppy to try and get the new woman, Sally, to see what a cheating man he was, so that he comes running back to Elizabeth, who has gotten used to the rich life in England. In return, Elizabeth helps Poppy with her absent, one-tracked mind boss. Add in the fact that Poppy needs a house to live in, and Elizabeth can no longer afford the mortgage on her house, and of course, the obvious solution is for Poppy to move in with Elizabeth.
I loved how Poppy didn't question Elizabeth's clear OCD. I loved how she accommodate it, but also at the same time, tried to help her 'lose some control'. I loved the karaoke scene. I loved how Elizabeth helped Poppy with her acting and her job.
I loved how Elizabeth realised she had feelings for Poppy. For someone who thought she was straight, falling for a woman is always confusing. Their relationship felt real, and very understandable, considering the close proximity.
I also loved the three As. They were fantastic friends, and I loved how they helped Elizabeth get the girl.
Overall, this story was great. I absolutely recommend it.

My new favourite SW book. Again. Each one just keeps getting better. SW has written so many good books and I don’t know how they keep coming up with original plots and characters. It has ice queen, age gap & coffee shop tropes but it didn’t seem stale or “samey”. As ever lovely pacing, believable and likeable characters and a nicely wrapped up HEA that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy. Totally recommend this book to all.
Entertaining but a bit of a lead on. This is an older and younger dynamics (i hope i remember right) and we have here an image to uphold housewife and a live by faith Barista. So when the "good girl" references started, i assumed a kinky bdsm kind of play was forthcoming but that never came about. All the same entertaining.
I have read some of Sienna Waters‘ books and again I enjoyed the witty and charming conversations. The two heroines seem very different at first - icy vs sunshine, posh vs gets her shoes from a charity shop, straight and very married vs single lesbian.
But they have something in common - being pushovers and trying to handle what life did throw on them. Their coping skills are very different though: Poppy just hopes for the best and lets the universe care. Elizabeth tries to control everything, particularly her feelings. They meet at a new low for both of them, and as improbable as can be - they decide not only to want revenge but to be each others avenger. The story unfolds and takes its turns when they get closer, help each other grow and - face even more unexpected challenges.
The story is sweet, fun and entertaining. Oh, the revenge turns out well in the end (and not bloody at all).

Toasters- toasters for everyone! I'm a sucker for a team swap situation and I enjoyed watching one MC's journey in really embracing herself and her future. I also loved the sweet, doe-eyed optimist and her ability to take the reigns and redirect Miss Type A into shaking her hips and belting out some cathartic lyrics. A steamy scene or two and a HEA. Too fun!
It might not have been the point of the book, but I was much more excited to see the three As flip the script and pioneer with their friend. Friendships are tested in countless ways and the beauty of watching the evolution of relationships through multiple sets of eyes? It's a wondrous thing. To be able to evolve and grow with instead of away from those we love- a real gift.

This was a superb book with a control freak woman facing divorce and a carefree cafe worker. The plot although referenced to a film was fresh and original - to me at least. I loved the characters and the side characters. No one was who they seemed to be throwing stereotypes right out of the window left, right and centre. The English references were great, eg BBC2, Songs of praise etc. It was fantastic to see a book based in England, by a non-native author, actually sound like it was based there. Wonderful!.

I love these characters. Elizabeth and the three A’s. Poppy with Mel and Paul. When high society Elizabeth is dumped by her cheating husband in a coffee shop, Elizabeth is left devastated. Poppy who was working in the coffee shop overhears Elizabeth being dumped. When she goes over and offers her a little cheer and good riddance, little does she know that both their lives were going to intertwine and change. With Elizabeth seeking revenge and Poppy needing a place to live, both enter an agreement to help each other. The writing was delightful. I think this story had one of the best straight girl/queer girl get together that I read in a while. Great job Sienna!
The Revenge Plot follows Elizabeth and Poppy’s developing relationship as they traverse a complicated path towards each other. As the story arc alternates points of view between the main characters the reader gains interesting insights into where each of them is coming from and where they might be going. The author’s dry sense of humor appears throughout in unexpected places. There is a decent supporting cast; many of whom turn out to be much better friends than expected. This is a fun read with a very satisfying conclusion.
Dissecting a couple’s separation is a grim subject but we are drawn into the realities in Sienna’s perceptive and warmly sensitive way. New relationships evolving quickly turn around the underlying theme. There’s humour and love. A good read. There are moments when I’m sure Sienna Waters has been trained as a counsellor! I constantly learn from her writing - perhaps it’s me!.

The cheerful romantic novel I expect from Ms Waters, realisi5 what you were missing and what and who you need to be with. The original reason for them getting together is part of a great plot for a new lesbian novel. Lots of twists and turns. It's not realistic but a good read that makes you smile.
This is my third ARC from Sienna Waters and my favorite one so far. Elizabeth and Poppy's connection and the way they support one another is inspiring. I didn't want the story to end. A great book that you won't want to miss.
I loved Poppy. Take someone who seems to find joy everywhere and add a staid repressed woman, suddenly you have a wonderful toaster oven tale that makes you laugh and smile. This is a true feel good and a wonderful fun read.
As a “revenge” story, this book was enjoyable and sweet, with some twists and turns and character evolution. It is a nice story reminding us that the people we know in our lives, even for many years, can surprise us and change. An enjoyable read.
I grabbed this book because I thought it would be funny. So wrong, yes there were mildly humorous bits. But mostly wanting to bang heads to say, say what you mean. But eventually they did and every thing worked out splendidly.
I couldn't like this book like other Sienna Waters books. I think it's my internal bias getting in the way though because I loath cheating.
I will caveat my review with the warning that this takes place in.. England? I am not fully aware of how divorces are handled over there. It may be entirely possible/common that rich husbands can screw their wives over in a divorce and the law says they can't do anything about it.
‘The Revenge Plot’ is a different take to ‘Strangers On A Train’. It is a very sweet and cute story all wrapped up into one. We first meet Elizabeth and how she sees her life of having everything perfect and then she hears the dreaded words “I need to talk to you.” So the talk takes place at The Canadian Coffee shop where we also meet Poppy, our other main character. Elizabeth doesn’t know what to think or even do when her husband wants to leave her. Poppy overhears some of the conversation and says “I’m sorry.” Elizabeth and Poppy talk and Elizabeth comes up with the idea that Poppy could seduce her husband and asks what she could help Poppy with. Poppy says that she’ll get back to Elizabeth with an idea. Poppy thinks about it and says she would like help with getting back at her boss. So they come up with ideas on what to do. I love the ideas they came up with and how they executed them, which works with their unique personalities. I love that Poppy was able to help Elizabeth figure out things like paying bills since she was not familiar with those things. With how the story is written I was reading it quite fast and wanting to know how it was going to go. I wasn’t disappointed at all! Loved it!.

I found this a readable story, with a nice sense of humour. It kept my attention throughout. However, the premise of the book was a new relationship forms when 2 people plan revenge on people who have hurt the. The nature of that revenge ended up quite flimsy and bearing in mind one of the people is abandoned by a husband of 12 years, there was little depth of feeling. She came to terms with it remarkably quickly and accepted the husbands new partner without any ill feeling it seemed. I wondered if this is realistic. However, I liked the character of Poppy, caring and optimistic despite so many setbacks
