I’m a professional ghost hunter possessed by a dead witch who has tentacles and slime that he knows how to use.
Spectral Studies is tackling our biggest job yet for a Halloween special. However, the haunted hospital in Spain was never supposed to go like this. As soon as we step inside, everything falls apart in one terrible event after the next.
Makwa's gone and I'm questioning everything he's told me over the years…
I’m left wondering if it was all a farce to use me while he gained more power.
I need to find him in this massive haunted building but the place may be too much for me to handle.
Especially when Makwa might be part of the problem now.
For everyone’s sake, I hope that isn’t true.
Author Note: This is a short story featuring Ava and Makwa from the Myths & Monsters series and is an extension of the epilogue in Seek & Find.

Ava and Makwa tag along with her aunt Maria on her ghost hunter show to a haunted hospital. But from the moment they approach, something goes wrong and Makwa goes awol. As Ava tries to find him, she has to deal with a freaked out TV crew and hundreds of ghosts acting out and terrifying everyone.
I wish this was a full novel instead of a novella. I laughed from start to finish. Full on cackled. This book cemented my adoration for Makwa. It's odd since I'm usually not as fond of the last guy who joins the harem but Makwa is a show stealer. Somehow he became my fav even though I love all the guys. Maybe it's because I have a thing for the psycho ones who aren't good guys and never try to be. Makwa really embraced the role of a villain and amused himself by terrifying the crew even while keeping them safe and saving their lives. In his delirium of joy at his upcoming meal of souls, he hurts Ava and she begins to doubt his affections. But my guy makes up for it in the end and declares his love in a swoony way with tentacles and slime. I seriously need more of these guys. I'm looking forward to the omnibus since there's supposed to be some more bonus scenes. I need baby Makwa!
Ahh i loved this novella. Makwa is my favorite and I soo want more of him! I wish Ava wouldve been a little more strict with Makwa tho because what he did was hurtful and cruel. Even if he didn’t mean it and felt bad and said sorry it was very cruel. I hope we get more of him and he has grovel but ahh I want more. MORE please. I just adore these characters
I loved the novella - Makwa is strangely my favorite guy in this troupe. And Caspian, too. Because both are in some sort really psycho from the start. Doesn't mean I didn't love Pollux and Brandon, neither. Pollux is cool in his own way and the sweet influence. Brandon is the understandable one, the once human, who knows what Ava went through.
But I always have a soft spot for the more psychotic characters. And antiheroes. Because even if they are crazy and morally deprived, they love in a way a normal person never could. So to speak. Yeah, it's probably dangerous. And crazy. But they would burn the world down for you, just to keep and protect you. So, they have something going for them. Even if they are crazy, and their kind of courting is not really in the common sense.
Furthermore, they are often the misunderstood characters, because they don't reveal as much and are less open. So, they have a mystery around them. And then there is the possessiveness. Sure, in real life, I would probably run away. But in books I love it and search actively for such characters.
And Makwa fits all that. He isn't a good guy. And doesn't shy away from anything. Killing is a kind of sport for him. He stays true to who he is. And Ava is his center, even though, we don't see it at first glance.
This novella shows that much. Even Ava doubts him. So, to see how much he loves her, is something wholesome. Even if it's a dark and twisted way in some weird part. In books, I don't really need that many morals. Though, I should probably find that questionable, but I stopped with that a long time ago. I mean, I have seen too much in the book worlds, that I never thought in a million years to ever enjoy. But reading is a lot about bending and escaping reality, change your point of view and take a glimpse in the heads of others. It doesn't have to be logical or even good. It just has to be that good, that you can forget everything around you. And yes, even force emotions out of you, and make you question yourself. So, no complaint here.
I look forward to the collection with more bonus content on top. I will definitely read it.
I’m so happy that this extended epilogue/novella came to be. I wasn’t ready to leave my group of chaos bringers yet.
Makwa is the unhinged darkness of the group and Beatrix BROUGHT it in this one. He was chaotic and showed his fear loving terror side, even while trying to save everyone. I also really appreciated a final scene with him and Ava, as their relationship has always been the least solid to me despite choosing one another at the end of Seek & Find. This stamped out some of their worries about one another and I’m totally here for that.
To be honest, though, while I loved this…I wanted just a touch more. It brings me joy that Ava and her men have gotten comfortable in their relationship and are back to pursuing their dreams and showing a little independence after the trauma of books 1-3. But I will be shamelessly begging for one more scene (maybe a Patreon short 👀) in which they’re all back together, feeling the comfort and spice.
I am obsessed and in love with series!! Great extended ending, yet sad to see it end. If possible can you make another extended epilogue? Maybe with Ava pregnant and they have some children. It would be interesting to see who their kids take after. Like would they be a mixture of them, or have their monster form/human form. I can see Moth man bringing his kids into the mountains and teaching them to fly. Caspian bringing his to the water, to enjoy some swimming and singing. Brandon, to the forest teaching his to hunt. Makwa to somewhere creepy, teaching them how to control the dead, and their undead state (like, would they be able to fade in and out, going through walls/floors?). Of course Ava will be all loving and support her monsters and their children.
I’m so glad that this novella exists because I wasn’t ready to let go of the characters.
I know we’re not supposed to have favorites in why choose books, but I always do and despite all his extra appendages, Makwa lower on the list. I don’t know if this novella made me like him any more but I did enjoy it.
I was so happy to see Pollux one more time too. Not going to lie. I’m really hoping we get one more bonus scene where everyone is back together. I love that they are all happy and pursuing things outside the group, but I just want them all bungie corded together.
Find & Destroy by Beatrix Hollow is a monster romance novella. This is an extended epilogue for the Myths and Monsters series.
I love Beatrix's books and was so excited when she announced she was doing an extended epilogue and let me tell you she did not disappoint. I loved getting more of Ava and Makwa's story. Plus, the bonus chapter from Mothman's point of view as well.
If you haven't had a chance to read this series I would recommend if you're looking for a monster romances, paranormal romances, erotic horror romances, or reverse harem romances.
This was not only a highly entertaining story, but it was in my opinion a perfect example of a fully fleshed out novella. There was an interesting introduction to the story. There was a clear issue the main character(s) needed to overcome. There was humor, steam, and great pacing/plotting. Once it was over I enjoyed not only the novella, but the narration as well. I hope this isn’t the end of this world and these characters, but if it is, it was a fantastic ending. TheFlockVIPReviewTeam
This book snapped my can’t-focus-on-anything funk. I haven’t been able to read anything for over a week (very unusual for me) but this one scratched the itch. It’s still Makwa and Ava, so things aren’t bright and fluffy, but its lighthearted and funny enough to make it enjoyable. So here I am, questioning my morals again, and hoping we see more of Ava and her monsters in the future (hint hint; that group bonding idea….)
Short and haaaawt. I love this little nugget of insight into Ava's and Makwa's reality show adventures. It's a horror ghost story, mystery and ...ahem... romantic little getaway for the two of them all rolled into one. ....ok, it has ALL the monster smut you need in such a quick read! I'll never get enough of Ava and her monster men. Delicious!
The one where Makwa goes rogue... Makwa was low-key my favorite of all the guys, so I was pretty darn excited when this bonus novella was going to be exclusively Ava and Makwa. For some reason this one didn't give me quite the same level of spine-tingling obsession as I got from the books, but it was still a very enjoyable trip back into Ava's world.
I really enjoyed this short story of Makwa and Ava. We got to see what happened with them while they were working on one of the haunted houses. It was nice and spicy and funny too. My only sadness with it was we didn't get to see her other boys and I was really hoping to get them all back in one place again. Overall though, it was a fun read.
Loved this extended epilogue! I adored seeing more of Makwa and Ava together, especially since we got so little time with just them together in the trilogy. It was creepy and gory but also so hot and sexy. Loved it! I just wished that we got so see more of the group together but oh well.
A fun quick adventure with Ava and Makwa (takes place after the trilogy) into a super haunted place where they gobbled up souls and he became almost fully alive…
Every time they mention his slime I get the visual of slugs! And 🤮 so I just ignore that part 😂
🌶️🌶️/5 Only 1 scene but it’s a tiny novella, and makwa is a tentacled creature, so it was fun!
I will absolutely NEVER tire of these characters! This was such a fun, spooky jump back into this series. Makwa and Ava definitely went all out with this hospital haunting but then again, when is anything tame with them haha. Such a great short read just in time for spooky season!
I really enjoyed this novella of Ava and Makaw. It gave a preview of Ava and Makaws journey as ghost hunters. This little novella was soo good. I would recommend reading the whole series before reading this to better understand what is going on.
This was book 4 of the series. It was a pretty short one that focused solely on Ava and the deviously playful Makwa. It was a real quick read but it ran through the gambit of love, possible betrayal, and fear. Not bad for such a small amount of pages.
I liked the story, but Ava should made Makwa grovel more ;) As a part of the reverse harem series it felt a bit weird to read of their duo adventure, but it was enjoyable. The horror elements of the haunted hospital with hot sex that was almost normal (a first with Makwa for sure!) were great.
I freaking love Ava and Makwa. This short story was amazing. I want more of the gang…can we get side stories and adventures? Ten out of ten would recommend!
